Insert sysdate value to date type column in DB

Hi All
I need you help. How to set Last_Update_Date to a default date in sql… For example when a user runs the query, the query show display only those values which got changed as of that day’s date. For Example. If I run the query on May 22nd the query show display only that data which got last updated on May 22nd.Can we use INSER INTO. If so ow to insert Last_update_date = sysdate in the below query.
select hzp.creation_date,fnd.user_id,hzp.party_id,fnd.user_name,
hzp.person_first_name,hzp.person_last_name,hzl.address2,hzl.address3,hzl.city,
hzl.postal_code,hzl.state,hzp.last_update_date,frt.responsibility_name
from APPLSYS.fnd_responsibility_tl frt,APPS.fnd_user_resp_groups fur,
APPLSYS.fnd_user fnd,AR.hz_parties hzp,AR.hz_party_sites hzps,AR.hz_locations hzl
where fnd.user_id = fur.user_id
and fur.responsibility_id = frt.responsibility_id
and hzp.party_id = fnd.person_party_id
and hzp.party_id = hzps.party_id
and hzps.location_id = hzl.location_id
and last_updated_date = ''
Regards

To have last_update_date automatically filled in, your best option is to create a trigger on the table that sets that field to sysdate every time any other field in the row is updated.
Something like this:
TRIGGER "TRIGGERNAME" AFTER INSERT OR UPDATE ON FIELD ON "TABLENAME" FOR EACH ROW
BEGIN
IF :new.FIELD_NAME IS NULL THEN
SELECT SYSDATE INTO :new.FIELD_NAME FROM DUAL;
END IF;
END;
To query off that field, you probably want to use trunc(last_update_date)=trunc(sysdate) which causes Oracle to basically ignore the time and only look at the date.

    Don't use LONG, use CLOB instead. You can write to CLOBs using the DBMS_LOB package.

  • Getting past days data based on DATE data type column

    I am trying to extract last 2 days data using date data type column with below query,
    select * from tbl
    where col < col -2;
    this is not showing me any data. please help where i am making mistake. guide please. thx

    Hi,
    When you say "last 2 days" do you mean the 48 hours right before run-time?
    If so, you want to compare col to SYSDATE:
    select  *
    from    tbl
    where   col  >  SYSDATE - 2
    and     col  <= SYSDATE
    ;If you mean the "last 2 days" before some other event, then replace SYSDATE with that date in both places above.
    If you were trying
    where   col  >  col - 2then you should have been getting all rows that have a non-NULL col. If you were getting no results, then something is very wrong.
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
    If the results depend on when you run the query, then give a couple of different examples, with the run-time. for example "If I run this at 03:00:00 on July 1, 2012, then I should get ... but if I run ir at 15:00:00 on July 1, 2012, then the results should be ...".
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Always say what version of Oracle you're using.

    1. Export and import

    It is a good idea to move from 'LONG' to 'CLOB'.

  • How to set default value to date type attribute.

    Hi,
    How to set default value to date type attribute.
    E.g I want to set u201C01/01/1999u201D to date attributes.
    First i want to set value and then i want to fetch the same & want to check equals.
    please suggest solution.
    Regards,
    Smita

    Hi,
    In wdinit() method u can set the date
    DateFormat df = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
    Date today = Calendar.getInstance().getTime();
    String reportDate = df.format(today);
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setFromDate(reportDate);
    Another way you have set the this formate like that
    1. Create a Simple type under "Dictionaries->SimpleType" called DateFormat
    2. Select the type as "date"
    3. Go to the "Representation" tab and set the format as "dd/MM/yyyy" (or whatever u want, but month should be MM)
    4.Bind the context attribute to the type created now.
    Hope this helps u.
    Best Regards

  • Data type column size does not match size of values returned

    I've tried searching but couldn't find what I was looking for, sorry if this has been answered or is a duplicate.
    I am using the (Java) method below to get the column definitions of a table. I am doing this through an ODBC connection (using Oracle ODBC driver) and I have NO CHOICE in the matter.
    The problem I am having is that one particular column has a column size is smaller than the size of the data it purportedly holds (ie attendance_code = varchar size 3 but data value is "Absent". I suspect the data is actually a look up to situation, where my attendance_code column has a value of 'ABS' and Oracle goes and fetchs the "Absent" value.
    My issue is that the meta data returned from ODBC is the actual column definition (ie varchar(3) and not varchar2(10) for example).
    The resultset metadata has a size of 3 for the column in question, and querying the schema also yields 3 for that column.
    How do I resolve this? I do not have access to all_columns table etc. I have to do it using ODBC metadata only.
    I've tried recreating the situation using the Oracle XE DB, but as I am not familiar with Oracle, I do not know how to recreate this scenario (which would then lead me to test other options with ODBC).
    TIA.
    The select I am using is SELECT * FROM <tableName>.
    public ArrayList<SchemaColumn> getColumnsForTable(String catalog,
    String schema,
    String tableName) {
    ArrayList<SchemaColumn> columns = new ArrayList<SchemaColumn>();
    ResultSet rs = null;
    try {
    DatabaseMetaData metaData = connection.getMetaData();
    rs = metaData.getColumns(catalog, schema, tableName, "%");
    SchemaColumn column;
    while (rs.next()) {
    column = new SchemaColumn();
    column.setName(rs.getString("COLUMN_NAME"));
    column.setDataType(rs.getInt("DATA_TYPE"));
    column.setTypeName(rs.getString("TYPE_NAME"));
    column.setColumnSize(rs.getInt("COLUMN_SIZE")); <-------- this is the value that is coming back smaller than the data it actually returns
    column.setDecimalDigits(rs.getInt("DECIMAL_DIGITS"));
    column.setNumPrecisionRadix(rs.getInt("NUM_PREC_RADIX"));
    column.setNullable(rs.getInt("NULLABLE"));
    column.setRemarks(rs.getString("REMARKS"));
    column.setDefaultValue(rs.getString("COLUMN_DEF"));
    column.setSqlDataType(rs.getInt("SQL_DATA_TYPE"));
    column.setSqlDateTimeSub(rs.getInt("SQL_DATETIME_SUB"));
    column.setCharOctetLength(rs.getInt("CHAR_OCTET_LENGTH"));
    column.setOrdinalPosition(rs.getInt("ORDINAL_POSITION"));
    columns.add(column);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    Log.getLogger().error("Could not capture table schema");
    closeResultSet(rs);
    return columns;
    }

    I can't say I've ever seen a case where a column held more data than it was declared as, and would have to file that under "see it to believe it" category.
    Even if that somehow were the case, I'd expect the ODBC driver to return what the column is defined as anyway, not the data. The data changes with every row, but I'd expect the table metadata to be consistent, and refer to the table definition.
    For grins though, can you provide system.out.println output of the metadata, and also a "describe xxxx" from sqlplus if you can, where xxx is the table name?
    ie,
    while (rs.next()) {
    System.out.println("column name is " + rs.getString("COLUMN_NAME"));
    System.out.println("data type is " + rs.getInt("DATA_TYPE"));
    ..etc..

  • Conversion failed when converting the varchar value to data type int

    Hi, I am unable to resolve this error and would like some assistance please.
    The below query produces the following error message -
    Msg 245, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
    Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'NCPR' to data type int.
    Select Pc2.Assess,
                    Select Pc1.Title
                    From Pc1
                    Where Pc1.Assess = Pc2.Assess
                ) [Title]
            From Pc2
    However, when I run the query below I get the results shown in the image . Ie. nothing. Pc1 & Pc2 are aliases and are the same table and the assess field is an int. I found NCPR in one cell but that column (prop) is not used in the query. The table
    is nearly 25k rows.
    SELECT * FROM Pc1 WHERE Pc1.Assess LIKE '%NCPR%' OR ISNUMERIC(Pc1.Assess) = 0
    Thank you

    WHERE ISNUMERIC(id) = 1 and there are obviously no 'NCPR' records in the view as per my previous post.
    That is a bad assumption - SQL Server does not have to evaluate the query in the order you are expecting it to.
    Take this simple example
    CREATE TABLE #example
    col1 VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL
    INSERT INTO #example VALUES ('1'), ('2'), ('NaN')
    SELECT * FROM
    SELECT * FROM #example
    WHERE ISNUMERIC(col1) = 1
    ) X
    (3 row(s) affected)
    col1
    1
    2
    (2 row(s) affected)
    compare to
    CREATE TABLE #example
    col1 VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL
    INSERT INTO #example VALUES ('1'), ('2'), ('NaN')
    SELECT * FROM
    SELECT * FROM #example
    WHERE ISNUMERIC(col1) = 1
    ) X
    WHERE col1 = 1
    (3 row(s) affected)
    col1
    1
    Msg 245, Level 16, State 1, Line 8

  • Problem in using OCIBindByName  for date type column

    Hi,
    Can you please guide me about my following problem?
    I am trying to fetch the data from system table "FLOWS_020100.WWV_FLOW_ACTIVITY_LOG1$" in Oracle Express edition 10.2.0.3 database, using the OCI library on Windows with C++
    This table has a TIMESTAMP column of date type.
    I've the following query as below:
    select TIME_STAMP from FLOWS_020100.WWV_FLOW_ACTIVITY_LOG1$ where TIME_STAMP > to_date('31/OCT/12 23:59:59', 'DD-MON-YY HH24:MI:SS') order by TIME_STAMP asc;
    For this, first I am preparing the query as below:
    select TIME_STAMP from FLOWS_020100.WWV_FLOW_ACTIVITY_LOG1$ where TIME_STAMP > :PKVAL order by TIME_STAMP asc;
    Before calling OCIExecute(), I am setting the PKVAL buffer to following value:
    "to_date('31/OCT/12 23:59:59', 'DD-MON-YY HH24:MI:SS') "
    & calling the OCIBindByName function with data type as SQLT_DATE.
    But when the OCIExecute is called, my program crashes with access violation
    Can you please guide me what is the correct way to pass the date value in query to OCI? How do we bind the date values?
    Thanks in advance for your time and help.
    Best Regards.

    I had a similar problem. TO_DATE doesn't appear to function w/ BindByName or BindByPos.
    You are going to have to bite the bullet and use an actual date.
    Here's an example (I am using two dates in my query):
    int main (int argc, char **argv, char **envp)
    static text invalidQuery = (text )"SELECT f1.my_val, COUNT(f1.my_val) invalid_count, (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM my_db_table f2 WHERE f2.my_val = f1.my_val AND f2.foo_dt = :1 ) total_count FROM my_db_table f1 WHERE f1.foo_dt = :1 AND ( (f1.vld_bar_sw IS NULL OR f1.vld_bar_sw = 'N') OR (f1.vld_foo_sw IS NULL OR f1.vld_foo_sw = 'N') ) group by my_val order by my_val asc";

    Your dont need RETURN inside SP as you've declared @xml already as an OUTPUT parameter. Also you can RETURN only integer values using RETURN statement inside stored procedure as that's default return type of SP.
    so just remove RETURN statement and it would work fine
    To retrieve value outside you need to invoke it as below
    DECLARE @ret nvarchar(max)
    EXEC dbo.[P_gettestresults] @ret OUT
    SELECT @ret

    I'm trying to extract a data entry with null value by using JDBC. The database is MS Access.
    The question is how to extract null entry with data type memo? The following code works when the label has data type Text, but it throws sqlException when the data type is memo.
    Any advice will be appreciated! thanks!
    Following are the table description and JDBC code:
    test table has the following attributes:
    Field name Data Type
    name Text
    label Memo
    table contents:
    name label
    me null
    you gates
    Code:
    String query = "SELECT name, label FROM test where name like 'me' ";
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
    while (rs.next())
    String name = rs.getString("name");
    rs.getString("val");
    String label = rs.getString("label");
    System.out.println("\t"+name+"\t"+label);

    if (rs.getString("val") == null)
      // do something
    }This way, when it's a null value, you can check it first, and then handle it how you want, rather than getting an exception.

  • Mapping Values to Data Type Enhancements in XI

    I want to a map values from a source XML to a target XML but the target fields are data type enhancements and not that of the standard one. The target message is the message of a predilevered interface of SAP for the SNC product. We did some enhancements to a particular data type. The enhancement was done in a different SCV and points to the datatype in a different SCV. Now, the mapping is in another different SCV (since the SCV for the SNC content of XI cannot be edited). When I was trying to map the values to the data type enhancement in the message mapping, the enhanced/additional fields are not there.
    How would I be able to map the values to the additional fields? Thanks in advance!

    The Integration Builder does not recognize changes to software component versions that have already been imported. Therefore, if you want to define dependencies between imported software component versions at a later date, you have to import the superordinate software component versions into the Integration Builder again. You will not lose objects that have already been created.
    Not sure but this might help.
    Thanks,

    Hi ..
    We can do like this...
    Data : V_float type F value '12345.67'.
    Data: V_dec type P Decimals 2.
    Write:/ V_float exponent 0. "This will display it like Type P
    or
    Write V_float to V_dec EXPONENT 0.
    Write:/ V_dec.
