Insert/Update multiple checkbox values into a table

Hi all,
          I created an interactive report with checkboxes in it.
My application is like,
step 1: user will give his ID in a text box and click on 'submit' which redirects to IR page which has got checkboxes
step 2: IR report displays all the environments and access levels as two of its columns
step 3: if user checks on some box in IR, those particular environments and access levels (may be multiple environments and access levels) for that particular ID should get inserted into a table.
I have created a model application at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=71510:20 (wokspace:test_me, username=test, paswrd: apex14gm)
I found this forum too, https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2387391?start=0&tstart=0. But I am confused of how to implement it!
How to achieve this??
Pls help me out....
Thanks in advance

Hi Kanishkaa,
I've taken a look at your application.
So the things that I noticed that are wrong:
1)Your report: You created 2 items but you gave the 2 items the same idx. This is really weird I'm not sure if APEX knows how to handle this. Don't give 2 items the same idx. Furthermore you need to create 2 additional hidden items since you also want to store the access level and the environment.
2)The PL/SQL Process: Your PL/SQL Process: your making a type t_checkboxes, but your not actually doing anything with this type. Your not giving this any value. So obviously you get an error.
You really should rewrite this process based on the process in my blog. Please read it again carefully, if you just use the one insert statement you are using then even if you write a correct process that doesn't give any errors, the wrong data will be inserted.

Joni

  • Multiple Checkbox Values Into One Field

    Hopefully someone can help me with this issue I'm having.
    I'm trying to save the values of multiple selected checkboxes into one field separated by commas through ADDT's Insert Transaction code. I can do this easily with DW's standard insert record wizard by using the PHP implode() function but I haven't been able to figure it out with ADDT's code.
    <form>
    <input type="checkbox" value="1" name="program[]" /> Program One
    <input type="checkbox" value="2" name="program[]" /> Program Two
    <input type="checkbox" value="3" name="program[]" /> Program Three
    <input type="checkbox" value="4" name="program[]" /> Program Four
    </form>
    THIS IS ADDT'S CODING
    $ins_quoteManager->addColumn("programs", "STRING_TYPE",  "POST", "programs");
    THIS WORKS VIA DREAMWEAVER'S INSERT RECORD WIZARD
    Original: GetSQLValueString($_POST['programs'], "text"),
    Modified: GetSQLValueString(implode(',',$_POST['programs']), "text"),
    Anyone know how to modify the ADDT code with the implode function to get this to work?

    Have you tried ADDT´s "comma-separated checkboxes" form control, which will also store the values into a field of your choice (and of course retrieve them from there on update record - pages) ? The only possible drawback might be, that the checkboxes can´t be defined statically, means that the array of value/label - pairs will be retrieved from another table by establishing an additional recordset.

  • How to insert a value into a table

    I have an ordering system. It displays all the orders by
    customer ID. If an order is complete, a check number is entered for
    the corresponding line item, otherwise it is left blank.
    My code uses the following code to display the form. All are
    display fields only, except for the last one, where the check
    number can be entered.
    <cfoutput query="qryDetail" group="partNumber">
    <tr>
    <td valign="top" class="TitleText"
    align="center">#lineItem#</td>
    <td valign="top" class="TitleText"
    align="center">#OrderNumber#</td>
    <td valign="top" class="TitleText"
    align="center">#partNumber#</td>
    <td valign="top" class="TitleText"
    align="center">#dollarformat(qryDetail.unitValue)#</td>
    <td valign="top" class="TitleText" align="center">
    <cfinput type="text" name="checkNumber#keyID#">
    <input type="hidden" name="keyID"
    value="#qryDetail.keyID#">
    </td>
    I use something like the following to update the table with
    the check numbers entered.
    <cfloop index="KeyID" list="#form.KeyID#"
    delimiters=",">
    <cfquery name="qryUpdate" datasource="dbName">
    update tblChecks
    set checkNumber = '#Evaluate("form.checkNumber#KeyID#")#'
    where custID = '#form.custID#'
    and KeyID = '#KeyID#'
    </cfquery>
    </cfloop>
    Now we have another table that will contain the customer
    order history. If the check number was entered for a particular
    line item, I need to insert that line item nubmer into this table,
    along with some other columns. I tried to use the same loop, then
    other loops, but cannot seem to get this to work. Seems simple
    enough, but I obvisouly am missing something.
    How would I insert the line item number (only if a check
    number was entered for that line item) into the table ?

    Here is the code with the queries commented out :
    <cfloop list="#form.fieldnames#" index="field">
    <cfif left(field, 11) is "checkNumber" AND
    len(trim(form[field]))>
    <cfset keyID = listlast(field, '_')>
    <cfset lineItem = listgetat(field, 2, '_')>
    <cfset checknum = form[field]>
    <!---cfquery name="qryUpdate" datasource="dbName">
    UPDATE tblChecks
    SET checkNumber = '#checknum#'
    WHERE custID = #form.custID#
    AND KeyID = #keyid#
    </cfquery--->
    <cfoutput> loop is
    field: <b>#field#</b><br>
    checknum: #checknum#<br>
    lineitem: #lineitem#<br>
    keyID: #keyID#<br>
    </cfoutput>
    <cfelse>
    <cfoutput>Else is
    field: <b>#field#</b><br>
    form[field]: #form[field]#<br>
    len: #len(trim(form[field]))#<br>
    </cfoutput><cfabort>
    </cfif>
    </cfloop>
    This is the output. If I do not put in cfabort, the code just
    drops thru and I never see any output display, so I use cfabort to
    stop so I can see the output.
    loop is field: CHECKNUMBER_11_218
    CHECKNum: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    lineitem: 11
    keyID: 218
    Else is field: CHECKNUMBER_1_24
    form[field]:
    I entered the x's into checknum for line item 11, so that is
    correct.
    I then took out the comments from the update query and tried
    it again and it updated for line item 11 (you were right, I had to
    take out the single quotes in the query). I then removed the
    commets for the insert query and it did not insert. I tried the
    whole thing again and tried to add to line item 10 and it dropped
    straight to the else part, displaying :
    Else is field: CHECKNUMBER_1_24
    form[field]:
    len: 0
    So it seems the if statement if failing the second time thru
    the loop :
    <cfif left(field, 11) is "checkNumber" AND
    len(trim(form[field]))>
    This is my input statement :
    <cfinput type="text"
    name="checkNumber_#lineItem#_#keyID#">
    I am really confused now. It seems to work the first time
    thru the loop, then the second time it fails.

  • SQL Server 2012 Management Studio: Creating a Database and a dbo Table. Inserting VALUES into the table. How to insert 8 Values for future use in XQuery?

    Hi all,
    In my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS2012), I tried to create a Database (MacLochainnsDB) and a dbo Table (marvel). then I wanted insert 8 VALUES into the Table by using the following code:
    USE master
    IF EXISTS
    (SELECT 1
    FROM sys.databases
    WHERE name = 'MacLochlainnsDB')
    DROP DATABASE MacLochlainnsDB
    GO
    CREATE DATABASE MacLochlainnsDB
    GO
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[marvel] (
    [avenger_name] [char] (30) NULL)
    INSERT INTO marvel
    (avenger_name)
    VALUES
    ('Hulk', 1),
    ('Iron Man', 2),
    ('Black Widow', 3),
    ('Thor', 4),
    ('Captain America', 5),
    ('Hawkeye', 6),
    ('Winter Soldier', 7),
    ('Iron Patriot', 8)
    I got the following error Message:
    Msg 110, Level 15, State 1, Line 5
    There are fewer columns in the INSERT statement than values specified in the VALUES clause. The number of values in the VALUES clause must match the number of columns specified in the INSERT statement.
    How can I correct this problem?
    Please kindly help and advise.
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott Chang
    P. S.
    The reason I tried to create the Database, dbo Table, and then to insert the VALUES is to learn the following thing:
    You can query the entire node tree with the following xquery statement because it looks for the occurrence of any node with the /* search string:
    DECLARE @x xml;
    SET @x = N'<marvel>
    <avenger_name>Captain America</avenger_name>
    </marvel>';
    SELECT @x.query('/*');
    You can query the avenger_name elements from the marvel_xml table with the following syntax:
    SELECT xml_table.query('/marvel/avenger_name')
    FROM marvel_xml;
    It returns the following set of avenger_name elements:
    <avenger_name>Hulk</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Iron Man</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Black Widow</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Thor</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Captain America</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Hawkeye</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Winter Soldier</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Iron Patriot</avenger_name>
    You can query the fourth avenger_name element from the marvel_xml table with the following xquery statement:
    SELECT xml_table.query('/marvel[4]/avenger_name')
    FROM marvel_xml;
    It returns the following avenger_name element:
    <avenger_name>Thor</avenger_name>

    Hi Scott,
    The master database records all the system-level information for a SQL Server system, so best practise would be not to create any user-defined
    object within it.
    To change your default database(master by default) of your login to another, follow the next steps so that next time when connected you don't have to use "USE dbname" to switch database.
    Open SQL Server Management Studio
    --> Go to Object explorer(the left panel by default layout)
    --> Extend "Security"
    --> Extend "Logins"
    --> Right click on your login, click "propertites"
    --> Choose the "Default database" at the bottom of the pop-up window.
    --or simply by T-SQL
    Exec sp_defaultdb @loginame='yourLogin', @defdb='youDB'
    Regarding your question, you can reference the below.
    SELECT * FROM master.sys.all_objects where name ='Marvel'
    --OR
    SELECT OBJECT_ID('master.dbo.Marvel') --if non empty result returns, the object exists
    --usually the OBJECT_ID is used if a if statement as below
    IF OBJECT_ID('master.dbo.Marvel') IS NOT NULL
    PRINT ('TABLE EXISTS') --Or some other logic
    What is the sys.all_objects? See
    here.
    If you have any question, feel free to let me know.

  • How to find out who made inserts/updates/deletes made to a SQL Table

    I want to know WHO MAKES INSERTS/UPDATES/DELETES TO a particular SQL Table. Bascially I want to AUDIT ANY Edites made to a SQL 2008 TABLE. I need info such as WHO AMDE THE Updates i.e. the user first/lastname, When update was made, what row was updated etc...How
    can I do that with SQL 2008?

    One way to achieve that would be to use triggers to detect when a change is made to the table, and then insert a record into another table/database detailing what changed and who by.
    You'd need three triggers, one for insert, update and delete respectively, and for each of those you use the "inserted" and "deleted" tables (system tables maintained by SQL) to retrieve what has been done. To retrieve who made the change you can query IDENT_CURRENT
    which returns the last identity value for a specific table.
    See :
    Triggers -
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ms189799(v=sql.100).aspx
    Inserted & deleted tables -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191300(v=sql.100).aspx
    INDENT_CURRENT -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175098(v=sql.100).aspx
    There may be better / more up to date ways to do this, but I've used this method successfully in the past, albeit a long time ago (on a SQL 2000 box I think!).

  • How to insert the image or logo into the table as a field in webdynpro abap

    Hi Friends,
    Please tell me how to insert the image or logo into the table as a field in webdynpro abap.........

    Hi Alagappan ,
          In your view layout you take table UI element and then you bind it with some context nodes.
    The attributes of your nodes comes as a field.
    Now in these fields you can set various properties and image is one of them.
    Go to ->
    1. View Layout -> Right Click on ROOTUIELEMENTCONTAINER -> INSERT ELEMENT -> TABLE
    2. Right click on table -> Create Binding.
       Here you have to bind it with the appropriate context node.
    You will get two properties here
    a- Standard Cell Editor :- ( make it image )
    b- Standard properties :- ( If required set image properties ).
    3. If you want put image from out side then import it as a mime object and set the source of your table field ( used as a image )
    also have a look :-

  • I want to access multiple checkbox  value(its true or false when clicked)

    dear sir
    i want to access multiple checkbox value whether its true or not from one jsp to another jsp.how i can do this. because based upon checkboxes records are deleted and added.
    when i check on checkboxes and click on delete button the records are deleted onlybased upon checks.and these request forward to another jsp.so plz tell me about this.
    for example in gmail yahoomail or other mail various checkboxes are there. and if we check them and click on delete button then all checks mail are deleted.
    i will be very thankul to u sir..
    plz tell me.in this time i m in problem of this type.

    Disabled fields and unselected checkboxes/ radio buttons/ list elements are not tranmitted when a form is submitted. So when you try to getParameter() you'll only get the selected fields or you'll get a null if the field was disabled/ not selected.
    When you use this for a set of checkboxes/ radio button, you'll only get the selected ones. If nothing was selected, you'll get null. Work on your logic with this in mind.

    i m expecting that u commented on me (may be i m wrong). Only once, which we had already dealt with further up. My comment was continuing along another 'off topic' re: code graffitti. Sorry I you felt I was continuing to get at you.

  • Insert multiple checkbox values

    Hello,
    I have a basic form with a number of areas that have multiple choice checkboxes. Checkboxes , meaning that one or 3 or none can be selected and they all share the same id/name but of course have differing values.
    I can not find anywhere in the ADDT that allows me to select the checkbox name when I do my insert. I want all the values of each individual checkbox name to be inserted into their respective fields.
    In the Insert transaction wizard I get three types of checkbox values (Yes or No, 1 or 0, or -1 or 0.
    None of those seem to relate to the common occurance of checkboxes with string values, all to be inserting into one specific table field.
    Is it possible or do I need to write some hand code to insert an array?
    Thanks in advance for any help rendered,
    Steve

    Eeeeee.... Now that's an interesting widget.. You create a text field, but then need to create tables in your DB to pull the data to populate the checkbox fields that magically show up from the text field when rendered by the server.. Very interesting. Seems mine have formatting issues:
    http://www.peninsulaequipment.com/phoneAddy.php
    Only the "Screening Media" checkboxes are dynamically generated but for some reason they do not render left justified like the example shown here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/9.0_ADDT/help.html?content=ch5_form_controls_33.ht ml#1028650
    Are there workarounds for the formatting problem or known reasons why it does not look like the example?

  • Need to insert values into a table from a XML file

    Hi,
    I'm an Oracle 9i/10g DBA with quite a few years experience, but I'm new to XML and dealing with it in database terms. I've been given a project that entails pulling XML values out of a file (or 100's of them) and storing them in the database so that they are searchable by end-users. The project is classified as secret so I'm unable to upload the specific XML or any info relating to the structire of the XML or the table I will use to insert the values into - sorry!! So, I've created an XML file with a similar structure to help people understand my predicament.
    The end-users only need to search on a subset of the total amount of columns from the table I'll insert data into, although the XML file has a lot more, so I dont need to store the other values - but I will need to store the name of the XML file (or a pointer to it so I know what XML file a particular set of values belong to) in another column of the table along with its associated values.
    I've been using the XMLTABLE function with some degree of success, although I had better succes using the XMLSEQUENCE function. However, I found out this is deprecated in 10g and replaced with XMLTABLE, so I guess it's better if I use this in case we ever need to upgrade to 11g.
    The main problem I've been having is that some elements in the XML files have multiple values for the one record when all the other records are the same. In terms of storing this in the database, I guess it would mean inserting multiple rows in the table for each element where the value differs. Here is a dumbed down XML file similar to what I've got along with the other SQL I've used:
    +<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>+

    CREATE TABLE xmltest OF XMLTYPE;
    INSERT INTO xmltest
    VALUES(xmltype(bfilename('XML_DIR', 'test.xml'), nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')));
    Consequently, I need to...
    1) Retrieve the results from the XML file for all 3 warehouses where multiple values for the same sub-element are shown as 2 rowsthe result set. (I am guessing there will be 4 rows returned as warehouse sub-2 has 2 different elements for <WarehouseName>.
    2) Build a case statement into the query so that regardless of the sub-element name (i.e State or County), it is returned into the 1 column, for instance County.
    So, if I run a query similar to the following...
    select y.WarehouseId, y.Town, y.County, y.Area
    from xmltest x, xmltable('/House/Warehouse' .......
    I would like to get results back like this...
    ID Town County Area
    1 Southlake Texas 25000
    2 Poole Dorset 40000
    2 Solihull West Midlands 40000
    3 Fleet hampshire 10000
    Sorry for the non-formatting but I hope this all makessense to someone out there with what I'm trying to do.
    I appreciate any help whatsoever because, as i said before, I'm totally new to XML and trying to read the vast amount of information there is out there on XML is all a bit daunting.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Shaun.

    </House>And the XFilehandler package looks like this (I'm just trying to do a simple select only on WarehouseId & WaterAccess for the time being to keep things simple):
    create or replace package XFileHandler as
      TYPE TRECORD IS RECORD (
        WID     NUMBER(2)
      , WACCESS VARCHAR2(5)
      type TRecordTable is table of TRecord;
      function getRows (p_directory in varchar2, p_filename in varchar2) return TRecordTable pipelined;
    end;
    create or replace package body XFileHandler is
      function getRows (p_directory in varchar2, p_filename in varchar2)
       return TRecordTable pipelined
      is
        nb_rec          number := 1;
        tmp_xml        clob;
        tmp_file         clob;
        rec               TRecord;
      begin
        DBMS_LOB.CREATETEMPORARY(TMP_FILE, TRUE);
        tmp_file := dbms_xslprocessor.read2clob(p_directory, p_filename);
        LOOP
          tmp_xml := regexp_substr(tmp_file, '<\?xml[^?]+\?>\s*<([^>]+)>.*?</\1>', 1, nb_rec, 'n');
          exit when length(tmp_xml) = 0;
          --dbms_output.put_line(tmp_rec);
          nb_rec := nb_rec + 1;
        select y.WID, y.WACCESS
        into rec.WID, rec.WACCESS
        from xmltable('/House' passing xmltype(tmp_xml)
                      columns WID NUMBER(2) PATH 'Warehouse/WarehouseId',
                                  WACCESS VARCHAR2(5) PATH 'WaterAccess') y;
          pipe row ( rec );
        end loop;
        dbms_lob.freetemporary(tmp_file);
        return;
      end;
    end;Now, when I run the query:
    select * from table(XFileHandler.getRows('XML_DIR', 'XFileHandler_test.xml'));I get the error: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17285], [0x5CFE8DC8], [4], [0x45ABE1C8], [], [], [], []
    I had a look in the dump file for anything obvious, but nothing really stands out. Is there anything obvious in my code that I'm missing or something else which you may think could be causing this error, e.g in the regular expression regexp_substr?
    Many thanks,
    Shaun.
