Inserting multiple options in a hyperlink

I'm very new to the online help world. I've just recently had
a 3-day class on RoboHelp HTML. I've been conveting a RH for Word
into HTML and I've encountered a problem/question.
In the Classic, Word version the previous author inserted a
multiple topic choice dialog box as a hyperlink on the topic's body
text. From here the user would find two options from which to
choose as a help topic. The user would then pick one and would be
jumped to that topic and the dialog box would close.
I've only found the "related topics" feature in HTML which
inserts a button or graphic that allows this multiple topic
feature.
Is there a way to have the multiple topics dialog box appear
when linked to an existing word/phrase (or in an image map) in the
topic's body?
Thanks!
Wendy

Hi Wendy
Indeed you may do this. As you have discovered, the way you
do it is by using a Related Topics control. The trick here is to
configure the control as hidden. Then "Click" it using a tiny bit
of JavaScript. It won't really matter where on the page the control
will be. So don't agonize over that. Just insert one and configure
it as hidden. The option is on the first page of the wizard when
you insert one.
Assign the multiple topics you want and configure other
options. Then dismiss the dialog. Now let's link it to some text.
First, hover the control and see what name pops up. If it's the
first one on the page, it should be RelatedTopics. But it could
read something else. Note what name it uses.
Now, select the text your user will click to activate the
control. Make a hyperlink out of it by clicking the Hyperlink
button. Where you would normally enter a path and HTM file name,
type this instead:
JavaScript:RelatedTopics.Click();
Remember that name you looked at earlier? It's crucial here.
If it wasn't RelatedTopics, type the name you noted instead. And
it's case sensitive. So if it's something like OBJECT1 or object1,
be sure to type it exactly as you noted.
Give tht a go and see how you fare.
Cheers... Rick

  • How do I use my control key to highlight multiple options in a PDF?

    How do you select multiple options from a selection field in a PDF form? I've tried control and mouse click as the directions indicate on the form. However, I am a new Mac user and I do not know if the control commands are the same. I viewed the commands and combonation key commands in the list provided on this support site. Hi Rick,
    Well, following up on the previous posting, I actually did figure out how to make it work but it seems rather inefficient. I can insert a new paragraph right after the paragraph that has the table anchor but when i cut the table, i also cut the paragraph i just created. So to get around that, I create two paragraphs, so that there will be one paragraph left after i do the cut and that is the paragraph that I paste the table into. Once the table is pasted into the new paragraph, I delete the other paragraph that I created.
    Here's the updated code from the for loop:
    var vTbl = vDoc.GetUniqueObject(Constants.FO_Tbl, vTextItems[i].obj.Unique);
    var vAnchorPgf=vDoc.NewSeriesPgf (vTbl.TextLoc.obj)
    var vAnchorPgf2=vDoc.NewSeriesPgf (vAnchorPgf);
    var vAnchorTextLoc=new TextLoc (vAnchorPgf2, 0);
    var vTblTextRange=new TextRange ();
    vTblTextRange.beg.obj=vTbl.TextLoc.obj;
    vTblTextRange.beg.offset = vTbl.TextLoc.offset;
    vTblTextRange.end.obj=vTbl.TextLoc.obj;
    vTblTextRange.end.offset = Constants.FV_OBJ_END_OFFSET
    vDoc.TextSelection=vTblTextRange;
    vDoc.Cut (0);
    vTblTextRange.beg.obj=vAnchorTextLoc.obj;
    vTblTextRange.beg.offset = 0;
    vTblTextRange.end.obj=vAnchorTextLoc.obj;
    vTblTextRange.end.offset =0;
    vDoc.TextSelection=vTblTextRange;
    vDoc.Paste (0);
    vAnchorPgf2.Delete();

  • How to insert multiple list item as separate records

    I have a form with a list field in which user can select
    multiple item <select multiple="multiple"><option
    value></option></select>. My problem is that I don't
    know how to do an insert sql operation that puts every selected
    item on the list field into a separate record in a database table.
    I think that first I should get it to know how many item was
    selected from the list, than write the insert into statement
    between loop tags which loops the operation until every item has
    inserted. I'm not sure about it and even if I'm right, I don't know
    how to code it. Could someone show me a sample code for such a

    I need to insert line item values to one of the argument in stored procedure.what data type do i need to pass for type attribute.I tried with different datatypes from sap help but no luck.Please guide me how should i proceed.

    Hi,
    Stored procedure can support the below data types
    INTEGER, BIT, TINYINT, SMALLINT, BIGINT, FLOAT, REAL, DOUBLE, NUMERIC, DECIMAL, CHAR, VARCHAR, STRING, LONGVARCHAR, DATE, TIME, TIMESTAMP, BINARY, VARBINARY, LONGVARBINARY, BLOB (input and output),CLOB (input and output), CURSOR (output; only in conjunction with the Oracle JDBC driver).
    But
    Instead of passing multiple line items / array of input value in stored procedure, You can go for the below option as having 2 statements in your mapping with below structures and those 2 statements should be linked with the primary key say col1.
    <root>

  • Inserting Multiple queries into a workbook

    Hi Friends,
    I have to insert multiple queries into a workbook and each query should be in a different worksheet of the work book.
    I have gone thru some of the SAP documentation, for example http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3a/89883989676778e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
    In above link under the fatures section it says
    If you want to insert a query into the active workbook:
    Open a workbook and, from the BEx toolbar, choose Tools ® Insert Query.... The query is then inserted into the current worksheet starting at the active cell
    But when i chech in the tools under desig tools, i have lot of options like insert grid,insert checbox, radio button extc, but i dont have "Insert query".
    I am using BI7 Bex analyazer, The Only way i am able to insert a new query into a work sheet using BI7 is that first i have to design the work sheet but including design elemenst in my case i am using Grid. But this is not giving the correct display.
    Did anyone insert multiple queries in the same workbook? if you can you please let me know how did u acheive this?.
    Thanks in adv.
    Regards
    BN

    Hi Rajesh,
    Thanks for your response, but in BI7 Bex analyser you dont have the option of insert query from tools.
    Rather what i did is (maynot be the correct way), i have executed the query and saved it as work book and in the tools there is an option "copy Sheet". If you select this the same layout is copied to the 2nd sheet, there just change the assignment of design items to a new Dataprovider. Attach the new query to the new Dataprovider.
    It works for me, as of now
    But i have  questions regarding selection screen.
    1. In this work book i am embbeding 6 queries and each query individually has variables. When i execute the workbook i get the selection screen, in the selection screen all the common variables are shown in one grouping and other in a different grouping. Is this correct way of selection screen display?.
    2. I want to see the variable screen every time i open the work book, how can i acheive this?.

  • Insert multiple rows with autoincrement id

    I need to insert multiple rows to a table which has an autoincrement PK (unique), e.g:
    Entity:
    public Class Entity{
    @Id
    @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
    @Basic(optional = false)
    @Column(name = "id")
    Private Long id;
    Facade:
    @PersistenceContext(unitName = "xx-enterprise-ejbPU")
    protected EntityManager em;
    public void create(Entity entity) {
    em.persist(entity);
    Service Class:
    public Class Service implements ServiceLocal{
    @EJB
    private XxxFacadeLocal xxxFacade;
    public void saveEntity(Entity entity){
    xxxFacade.create(entity)
    ManageBean:
    public Class ManageBean
    @EJB
    private ServiceLocal service;
    public void doSave(ActionEvent event)
    service.saveEntity(entity1); //entity.id is set to null, suppose to be generated by DB auto_increment, i.e. insert 3 rows with 3 different ids
    service.saveEntity(entity2);
    service.saveEntity(entity3);
    The result is: Key duplication error on inserting entity2, but entity1 is inserted into DB with id auto increased correctly.
    If I insert only one row each time for test purpose, everything works as expected.
    But what I need is to insert multiple rows. How to do it?
    Thank you in advance.

    Like this (although the @Basic annotation is very much unnecessary). So if it isn't happening you must have made a mistake somewhere. Are you sure the ID column actually has auto_increment?
    Also if you are using Hibernate as the persistence provider and you put it on the classpath, check the packages of the annotations you are using; Hibernate and JPA share some with the same name unfortunately.

    Let's say for example user have to the use the form to enter all 10 items or few like 5 on their stock form into 4 different textbox field each lines of your form, however these items go into a "Stock_table" under Single insert transaction query when submit button is pressed.
    Please anyone help me out, on how to get this concept started.

    Hello,
    I have a way to do this, but it would take some hand coding on your part. If you feel comfortable hand writing php code and doing manual database calls, specificaly database INSERT calls you should be fine.
    Create a custom form using the ADDT Custom Form Wizard that has all the rows and fields you need. This may take a bit if you are adding the ability for up to 20 rows, as per your diagram of the form area. The nice thing about using ADDT to create the form is that you can setup the form validation at the same time. Leave the last step in the Custom Form Wizard blank. You can add a custom database call here, but I would leave it blank.
    Next, under ADDT's Forms Server Behaviors, select Custom Trigger. At the Basic tab, you enter your custom php code that will be executed. Here you are going to want to put your code that will check if a value has been entered in the form and then do a database INSERT operation on the Stock_table with that row. The advanced tab lets you set the order of operations and the name of the Custom Trigger. By default, it is set to AFTER. This means that the Custom Trigger will get executed AFTER the form data is processed by the Custom Form Transaction.
    I usually just enter TEST into the "Basic" tab of the Custom Trigger. Then set my order of operations in the "Advanced" tab and close the Custom Trigger. Then I go to the code view for that page in Dreamweaver and find the Custom Trigger function and edit the code manually. It's much easier this way because the Custom Trigger wizard does not show you formatting on the code, and you don't have to keep opening the Wizard to edit and test your code.
    Your going to have to have the Custom Trigger fuction do a test on the submitted form data. If data is present, then INSERT into database. Here's a basic example of what you need to do:
    In your code view, the Custom Trigger will look something like this:
    function Trigger_Custom(&$tNG) {
    if($tNG->getColumnValue("Item_1")) {
    $item1 = $tNG->getColumnValue("Item_1");
    $textbox1_1 = $tNG->getColumnValue("Textbox_1");
    $textbox1_2 = $tNG->getColumnValue("Textbox_2");
    $textbox1_3 = $tNG->getColumnValue("Textbox_3");
    $date1 = $tNG->getColumnValue("Textbox_3");
    $queryAdd = "INSERT INTO Stock_table
    (item, Qty_In, Qty_Out, Balance, Date) VALUES($item1, $textbox1_1, $textbox1_2, $textbox1_3, $date1)"
    $result = mysql_query($queryAdd) or die(mysql_error());
    This code checks to see if the form input field named Item_1 is set. If so, then get the rest of the values for the first item and insert them into the database. You would need to do this for each row in your form. So the if you let the customer add 20 rows, you would need to check 20 times to see if the data is there or write the code so that it stops once it encounters an empty Item field. To exit a Custom Trigger, you can return NULL; and it will jump out of the function. You can also throw custom error message out of triggers, but this post is already way to long to get into that.
    $tNG->getColumnValue("Item_1") is used to retrieve the value that was set by the form input field named Item_1. This field is named by the Custom Form Wizard when you create your form. You can see what all the input filed names are by looking in the code view for something like:
    // Add columns
    $customTransaction->addColumn("Item_1", "STRING_TYPE", "POST", "Item_1");
    There will be one for each field you created with the Custom Form Wizard.
    Unfortunately, I don't have an easy way to do what you need. Maybe there is a way, but since none of the experts have responded, I thought I would point you in a direction. You should read all you can about Custom Triggers in the ADDT documentation/help pdf to give you more detailed information about how Custom Triggers work.
    Hope this helps.
    Shane
