Install Java 1.1.8 failed on XP

My XP laptop already has JRE 1.5.0_02 installed. When I tried to install JDK 1.1.8_010 on the same laptop, it failed wit the following message:
The decompression of %s failed. There may not be enough free disk space in the TEMP directory.
The laptop actually has 28 GB (out of 60 GB) left for free space.
Could anyone give me some suggestions to try. I need JDK 1.1.8 for a Pocket PC project.
Thanks.

Java requires space in the TEMP directory (wherever it's located), and additionally on the same drive that XP is installed on (this last requirement can't be changed.
If you have partitioned the disk and the available space isn't on the same drive that contains the TEMP directory, you might be able to install by temporarily moving that directory to the drive with the space - although that may cause other problems.

  • DeployJava.js fails to install Java when no Java is present

    In 7u11 in response to the latest zeroday hole in the applet sandbox, Oracle took the decision to display a warning popup on all unsigned or self-signed applets. This is really bad news for us and our 3 million (yes really) applet users as our previous applet loader used a single unsigned class to bootstrap a signed jar so now I have to rewrite the loader.
    I ripped out the single loader class and decided to use the latest deployJava.js which works nicely starting the applet when Java 7u11 is already installed but testing it when Java is not installed I get the following behaviour:
    Windows XP SP3 Firefox 18 : Installer runs but page refreshes in background every second (looks terrible) and when the installer completes the page shows a grey box with "A plugin is needed". Refreshing or restarting the browser fixes this but why does it refresh when not needed and then fail to refresh the one time it is needed?
    Windows XP SP3 Chrome 24.0.1312.52m : Same problem as Firefox but error message is "Java is required to run this content". Refreshing fixes.
    Windows XP SP3 Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702 (latest): Same annoying 1 second refresh of the page in the background and finally get the message "Install failed" and redirect to an Oracle help page. Retried multiple times and made sure no remants of Java lying around.
    Anyone else have problems with deployJava.js installing Java when no Java is present?

    Hi gimbal2,
    By uninstalling Java from the Control Panel and then manually cleaning up the registry and filesystem I managed to get deployJava.js to install on IE8 now. Thank you.
    I now have the same problem on all 3 browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE8) in that the installer takes 2-3 minutes to run, all the time our webpage is being refreshed by deployJava.js every second which looks terrible.
    Finally, when the Java installer completes, it fails to perform the final refresh so on FF/Chrome I'm left with a grey box "A plugin is needed" or on IE8 a white box with the red X icon.
    We have over 3 million users on our website and use applets for streaming stock price data. Yesterday when the default applet security setting in 7u11 was upped to high our users started getting the warning dialog about an unsigned class we use for Java detection and bootstrapping (fair enough).
    The deployJava.js solution now works but looks terrible and leaves the user uncertain as to whether Java installed successfully.
    I'll try and modify deployJava.js to reduce the refreshes and make the final refresh work and post findings here if successful.

  • Am failing to install Java IDM in a Windows XP machine with SQL Server 2005

    Hi,
    I am new to Java IDM . I had downloaded IDM 7.0 and trying to install. But i am failing to install Java IDM in a Windows XP machine with SQL Server 2005.
    I used .,
    JDK 1.5

    Microsoft SQL Server 2005
    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver
    I got the following error while trying to connect the waveset database with Repository type as SQL Server 2005(JDBC Driver)

    Do you have your SQL server set to Windows Authentication mode only?
    You should change it to allow mixed authentication. You can do this in SQL Server Management Studio under Server Properties -> Security.

  • Failed to install Java SE

         After downloaded the file jdk-8u5-windows-i586.exe , i double click the file, and install java, then computer give a warning as attached picture.@

    Unless there is a specific bug listed for that error, I would look at registry entries, as Windows has always been, Windows 8.x included, a very dirty OS.
    Before I look for any real errors in compatibility (once I see there is not a bug already listed), I do the following:
    delete your install file.
    use control panel to uninstall as much of the failed install as possible
    reboot
    delete the Java target installation folder
    reboot
    run a registry cleaner, such as, CCleaner and be sure to run the cleaner portion to get rid of web history, cache, temp files, and etc, then also run the registry cleaner.
    Once all that has been done, download a fresh copy of Java and retry the install.

  • Installed Java 2 & jakarta-tomcat, Now VB6 & RDC (Crystal Rpts) App Fails

    Help I recently installed java 2 and jakarta-tomcat and suddenly a Visual Basic 6 application that I've had forever won't call it's Crystal Reports (RDC) components correctly. I can't even open the RDC report designers from Visual Basic 6 at design time. I get an "Application Error" and I'm totally kicked out.
    Does anyone know where I can find a list of known software conflicts for Java &/or Jakarta-tomcat?

    Have you tried to re-install Crystal Reports ?

  • SAP NetWeaver 7.3 AS Java install error in Install Java Engine phase

    Hi All,
    I am doing my first installation of SAP NetWeaver 7.3 AS Java on Windows Server 2008 R2 with Oracle database 11.2.0.3, this is a domain installation.
    I have been following the SAP Installation guide and everything has been going well but I am now stuck with an error in the Install Java Engine phase of the installation.
    The error message I am receiving is:
    An error occurred while processing option SAP NetWeaver 7.3 > SAP Systems > Application Server Java > Standard System > Standard System( Last error reported by the step: Process call 'C:\usr\sap\E1D\J00\exe\jstart.exe pf=\\sourcing\sapmnt\E1D\SYS\profile\E1D_J00_sourcing -file=C:\usr\sap\E1D\J00\exe\startup.properties -nodename=bootstrap -launch' exits with error code 1. For details see log file(s) jstart_bootstrap_J00.log.)
    When I check the jstart_bootstrap_J00.log it is empty.
    I have done some searching for a solution for this error and it seems it may be related to the database not running. I can confirm that I have run lsnrctl start and also, in sqlplus, run startup; both commands showed that the starting of the listener and database were successful.
    Does anyone know what might be causing this error?
    Many thanks
    Dan

    Hi Srikishan,
    In C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\NW73\INSTALL\NW73\ORA\STD the file jstart_bootstrap_J00.log is empty.
    In C:\usr\sap\E1D\J00\work there was no jstart_bootstrap_J00.log file, however there was a file called log_bootstrap.0.log, the contents are:

    Sorry for the almost exact duplication of a previous thread, but that was closed (Java 7 Web start fails to download Java 1.6 version
    When launching an application requiring Java 1.6 with a Java 1.7 web start it fails when it tries to download 1.6 with the following message:

    Problem only seems to occur on Windows 7 (64 bit), seems fine on Windows XP.
    Bug has been raised with Oracle by poster Matt Taylor - http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7168311
    Does anybody have any ideas?

    0) Explain how exactly you launch JNLP when it does not work.We have a website with a link to a jnlp file. User clicks on the link the jnlp file downloads and installs.
    "install the jnlp from the dos window" - do you mean run "javaws applicationURL"?Yes. But actually that only worked because we had already installed a Java 6 version.
    When it does not work do you use Deployment Toolkit to embed link into web page?

    ** Error during execution, error code = 134.
    Please help me how to solve this issue.

    I suggest trying to install a different version to confirm the error. Do you have SELinux enabled? It can cause weird errors. You can check the syslog /var/adm/messages to see if there were any SELinux errors.
    The following is known to work:
    Oracle Linux with jrockit
    Oracle Linux with jrockit

  • Java APM Agent initialization failed: SEAgent.config.xml does not have a valid event sender configured

    Today I tried to configure JAVA APM on a CentOS 6.4 server with tomcat6 installed through the normal RPM package. Adding this server to SCOM was no problem and it shows itself as a 'Deep Monitored Configuration'. The last part of enabling
    JAVA APM fails. I have followed the following process:
    1. Imported the JAVA APM MP's
    2. Extracted the JAVA APM Files
    3. Copied those files to my CentOS server
    4. Added the JAVA_OPTS to my tomcat configuration file
    5. Restarted Tomcat
    When I look for the log file which needs to be created through the installation of the APM agent it cannot be find. When I look into my Catalina.out file I see the following errors:

    Does anyone have seen this error before? Can someone help me with this one?
    Thnx,

    I'm running tomcat on a CentOS release 6.4 (Final) server. I installed Tomcat 6 through an RPM from the CentOS sources. I have installed Apache Tomcat/6.0.24 wit JVM version 1.7.0_09-icedtea-mockbuild_2013_01_16_18_52-b00, the JVM Vendor is Oracle Corporation.
    My tomcat configuration needs to be done in '/etc/tomcat6/tomcat6.conf'
    I installed the APM Agent in the path '/opt/apm/' with the rights  40755 (root/root). The files have the following rights:
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat  32046 Mar  3 15:38 apm_facade.jar
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat 244819 Mar  3 15:38 apm_monitor.jar
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat  38110 Mar  3 15:38 apm_producers.jar
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat 207006 Mar  3 15:38 asm-all-3.3.1.jar
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat   4157 Mar  3 15:38 ASM_Third_Party_Notices.txt
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat 241368 Mar  3 15:38 DispatcherStub.dll
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat  36880 Mar  3 15:38 pmonitor.config.xml
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat   2625 Mar  3 15:38 SEAgent.config.xml
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat    830 Mar  5 15:19 Starter.properties
    The above rights are equal to the /etc/tomcat6 directory with the tomcat configuration files.
    In the tomcat6.conf I have added the following entries:
    #Microsoft SCOM APM
    JAVA_OPTS="${JAVA_OPTS} -Djava.library.path=/opt/apm"
    JAVA_OPTS="${JAVA_OPTS} -javaagent:/opt/apm/apm_facade.jar -Xbootclasspath/p:/opt/apm/apm_producers.jar -Xbootclasspath/p:/opt/apm/apm_facade.jar"
    When I look into the running tomcat process I see the following:
    tomcat   17401     1  0 Mar05 ?        00:00:39 /usr/lib/jvm/jre/bin/java -Djava.library.path=/opt/apm -javaagent:/opt/apm/apm_facade.jar -Xbootclasspath/p:/opt/apm/apm_producers.jar -Xbootclasspath/p:/opt/apm/apm_facade.jar

    -classpath :/usr/share/tomcat6/bin/bootstrap.jar:/usr/share/tomcat6/bin/tomcat-juli.jar:/usr/share/java/commons-daemon.jar -Dcatalina.base=/usr/share/tomcat6 -Dcatalina.home=/usr/share/tomcat6 -Djava.endorsed.dirs= -Djava.io.tmpdir=/var/cache/tomcat6/temp
    -Djava.util.logging.config.file=/usr/share/tomcat6/conf/logging.properties -Djava.util.logging.manager=org.apache.juli.ClassLoaderLogManager org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap start
    My Starter.Properties looks like this:
    # Jars to load by inner classloader.
    # Use semicolons to separate the JAR entries
    ClassPath=apm_monitor.jar;asm-all-3.3.1.jar;apm_producers.jar

    MonitorConfigFileName=pmonitor.config.xml
    # Path to SEAgent.config
    AgentConfigFileName=SEAgent.config.xml
    # Log file name
    # Example for full-path location:
    #                  LogFileName=c:\\tracelog\\apm-java-agent.log
    # Example for relative path (to agent jar files):

    LogFileName=apm-java-agent.log

    # A level of FINER or FINEST may expose Personally identifiable
    # information (PII) in the log file.  The levels below INFO are
    # intended for debugging and diagnostic use only.
    LogLevel=FINEST
    The 'apm-java-agent.log' is not created on the system. The only logging is done in the catalina.out. When restarting tomcat I see the following entries in te log file:

  • Error when installing java se sdk  6.16

    Hi All,
    while installing java se 6.16 sdk I get this error: " Installer: Wrapper.WriteFile(In small chunks) failed with error 112: there is not enough space on the disk."
    I can not figure this out as my hard drive has 207Gb free.
    any help apreciated.
    Best Regards

    I'm seeing exactly the same problem with JDK 6 Update 17 under Windows XP. I've got plenty of disk space. Anyone got any suggestions?

  • Installing Java EE SDK on 64-bit Red Hat Linux

    I've went through a lot of pain to get J2EE SDK / GlassFish server on a AMD64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 server box. Maybe it helps somebody.
    Long story short, it all seems to boil down to the fact that the J2EE Linux .bin (non-RPM) packages Sun provides require a 32-bit JVM running. So if you just installed 64-bit JDK you're toasted.
    Chronicle of pain and solution below:
    Downloaded the Linux packages for full EE5 SDK, also the bundle for GlassFish from http://java.sun.com/javaee/downloads/
    Tried ./java_ee_sdk-5_08-jdk-6u17-linux.bin No luck. First I didn't have libstdc++.so.5 but so.6. I did
    yum install compat-libstdc++-33
    Tried again. It hanged:
    *** glibc detected *** ... double free or corruption error
    Downloaded the JDK RPM version. It worked fine:
    # java -version
    java version "1.6.0_17"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_17-b04)
    Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.3-b01, mixed mode)
    Let's go again with EE SDK. Nope. Different error this time:
    *** glibc detected *** ./java_ee_sdk-5_08-jdk-6u17-linux.bin: malloc(): memory corruption: 0x0992d2c0 ***
    Tried setting env variable MALLOC_CHECK_:
    export MALLOC_CHECK_=0
    New error, but no hanging this time:
    Attach to native process failed
    Realized that JDK packages were platform-specific, unlike J2EE packages. Googled this: http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=37370
    Downloaded 32-bit JRE (i586, not 64-bit) RPM package and installed it.
    Redirected default java link to 32-bit JRE's JVM:
    cd /usr/java/
    unlink latest
    ln -s jre1.6.0_17/ latest
    Run installer again, explicitly saying where was the JVM the installer needed:
    cd /tmp
    ./java_ee_sdk-5_08-jdk-6u17-linux.bin -javahome /usr/java/jre1.6.0_17
    It worked! :-)
    Then reverted back to JDK's 64-bit JVM:
    cd /usr/java/
    unlink latest
    ln -s jdk1.6.0_17/ latest
    Hope this works for you too.

    This is very close to my problem,
    32 bit Fedora release 11 (Leonidas)
    ls -lh java_ee_sdk-5_08-jdk-6u17-linux.bin
    -rwxrwxr-x. 1 morten morten 161M 2009-11-17 20:18 java_ee_sdk-5_08-jdk-6u17-linux.bin

    dc71fc44ce1d10c1a9d53edde4ff858f java_ee_sdk-5_08-jdk-6u17-linux.bin
    should be a correct download.
    chmod a+x java_ee_sdk-5_08-jdk-6u17-linux.bin
    # ./java_ee_sdk-5_08-jdk-6u17-linux.bin
    ./java_ee_sdk-5_08-jdk-6u17-linux.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    same error as you reports. There was also an error and IIRC an incompatibility with the latest java plug in for firefox .
    # find / -name '*plugin*' -print | grep firefox
    /home/morten/.mozilla/firefox/kpsa4zom.default/pluginreg.dat
    /home/morten/.mozilla/firefox/g59tp699.default/pluginreg.dat
    /usr/lib/firefox-3.5.5/searchplugins
    # find / -name libjavaplugin_oji.so -print
    /usr/java/jre1.6.0_17/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
    /usr/java/jre1.6.0_17/plugin/i386/ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so
    cd /usr/lib/firefox-3.5.5/searchplugins
    # ls -l | grep java
    lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 58 2009-11-17 19:42 libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/java/jre1.6.0_17/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
    It did not work on first attempt.
    I just wanted to report that similar problems may occur, and I will try your suggestions. If someone knows other details about this topic JDK on Fedora or Red Hat based Linux, please comment.

    Hello christine valentina,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    If the failed installation of Java is preventing your computer from shutting down normally, then I'd like you to please first try to force quit the unresponsive installer.
