Installation didn't create the listener service on Windows
Dear Gurus,
I had installed an Oracle 9.2.0.0 in a Windows environment. But when a saw the Windows services in the control panel I saw that the listener service's didn't appear!!!!
Now I can connect to my Database.
Can I create the listener by myself or I will have to re-install?
Regards
You shouldn't have even needed to "create" the listener. Just going to a command prompt and typing "lsnrctl start" should start the listener, and the service should then be created automatically. This of course assumes that if you have multiple versions of Oracle, the correct one was first in your PATH so that you got the correct version of lsnrctl.

Manually creating the oracle services inside windows services
Hi All,
After discussion we came up for the following conclusion and would like to have further discussion on the topic.
- We have node 1 windows 2003 enterprise sp2 available on one of the server which has Oracle 11g R1 having custom database installed on it.
- All database and Oracle server files are stored on shared storage.
- It created windows services inside which we will be registered under cluster administrator
- We will install Oracle 11g R1 on node 2 (Passive node of windows cluster) with the software only option.
- We will manually create the oracle services on this node with the same name as we have on node 1.
In case the node 1 will be failed, node 2 will fail over and will become active node for the users.
Is there any one involve in such practice? did it work ?
Thanks,I am installing 10g client and create an ORCL service using the Net configuration Assistant. I don't see this service when i open ontrol panel/administrative tools/services. Is this normal?
I thought i wld see it and start the service and listener. Some confusion here.... first of all, listener is a server process, which listens for incoming calls, you don't have it on a client.
Secondly, the service you created with Net Configuration Assistant is just an alias you'll use to connect a remote database to, and does not create any Windows service. You can find its specifications within tnsnames.ora file, in ORACLE_HOME\network\admin directory.
I'd read some documentation -
How to create a listener service at command line?
Hello,
I want to create and configure a listener service in an installation script.
lsnrctl does not support the creation of this service.
netca or netmgr require user interactions.
Is there an other tool to create the listener service or is it possible to use netca/netmgr with special options in a command line mode?Thank you very much - it works.
When I execute the command
"lsnrctl start"
I get the error message
"Failed to open service <OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener>, error 1060."
but the service is created and is running.
So the error message can be ignored. -

Will Nodeapps register the listener service of RAC database?
Hi Friends,
In 10g RAC will Nodeapps register the listener service of RAC database?
because if i bring down nodeapps the listenener is also going down
ora....C1.lsnr application OFFLINE OFFLINE
ora.rac1.gsd application OFFLINE OFFLINE
ora.rac1.ons application OFFLINE OFFLINE
ora.rac1.vip application OFFLINE OFFLINE
Regards,
DBHi,
This is expected behavior. The default listener (listener_nodename) could be starte and stopped with nodeapps.
srvctl listener is mainly for specific listeners that are other than default.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/rac.102/b14197/whatsnew.htm#sthref6
If you create additional Listeners with non-default names, in other words, with names other than the name listener_nodename where nodename is the name of the node on which the Listener resides, then you must start and stop these Listeners with SRVCTL commands.

Top down approach for creating the web services in NWDS 7.1
I am trying to develop a web service in top down approach.
1) I created a Dynamic web project.
2) Created a WSDL File using the WSDL Graphic editor.
3) Now i am trying to create the Webservice from the WSDL file , i am getting the following error
The SAP Netweaver Web service runtime does not support the service project type Dynamic Web Project.
How do i created the web service from here on.
Regards
ABSIn NWDS 7.1 i used to create webservice.I followed the process given in sap help.
steps:
1. In the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio, you create an EJB Project and an enterprise application project for the Web service.
2. In the EJB Project, you create an EJB Session Bean 3.0 and implement the business logic of the Web service.
3. You expose the EJB Session Bean 3.0 as a Web service, using the Web service wizard in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
4. You deploy the Web service endpoint on the application server.
Thanks,
Murthy. -
How to create the Portal Service in Portal 7.3,
Dear Experts,
how to create the Portal Service in Portal 7.3, as we create in Portal 7.0 by creating the Portal Project in that we create Portal Service and we can start and stop in Portal Service configuration in System Administration
Thanks,
Sagar PandeHi Sagar,
Procedure
1. Open the SAP NetWeaver Administrator by either of the following methods:
a. Use the URL to your AS Java (hostname:port) to access the AS Java home page and use the link to SAP NetWeaver Administrator.
b. Alternatively, add nwa to the AS Java URL to access SAP NetWeaver Administrator directly. (hostname:port/nwa).
2 Go to Operations Management Systems and click the Start & Stop link.
The Start & Stop: Java EE Instances window opens.
3 Click the Java EE Application bar and select the relevant application in the Application List.
The Portal Services pane displays the services associated with the selected application.
4 Use the buttons Start Service or Stop Service.
Refer to Portal 7.3 help

When I create the proxy service and choose to be created from the WSDL, I have two options for selecting the port and binding, could you explain the difference in choosing between the port or binding?
Thanks!Hi,
Here is the difference.
If the service is based on a binding:
If the service is generated from binding Y in the WSDL resource, the effective WSDL defines a new service and port (<bindingname>QSService and <bindingname>QSPort). None of the ports defined in the WSDL resource are included in the effective WSDL.
There may be multiple ports in that WSDL associated with that binding. Each port can use a different URL. Therefore, the effective WSDL uses the binding but generates an artificial port from the configuration on the service for that binding. All other ports will be removed.
If the service is based on a port:
If the service is generated from port X in the WSDL resource, then port X is also defined in the effective WSDL. Any other ports defined in the WSDL resource are not included. Furthermore, if you base the proxy service on a WSDL port, the effective WSDL uses that port name. The binding is determined from the port, and in turn, the port type is determined from the binding.
The effective WSDL preserves any WS-Policies associated with the port defined in the resource WSDL.
The transport address specified in the port definition in the resource WSDL is never used as the address for a proxy service in the effective WSDL:For HTTP services, you must specify a transport address when configuring the transport in the Administration Console or the plug-in. That address is used in the port definition in the effective WSDL.The URL specified as the transport address for a proxy service is always relative to a path in an Oracle Service Bus domain, because Oracle Service Bus always hosts proxy services.
For SOAP-protocol-based WSDL services, the transport URI in the SOAP binding depends on the transport implementation. For standard transports (like HTTP and JMS), this value is as per the SOAP specification or another universally accepted value. For transports for which SOAP does not define a standard value, Oracle Service Bus sets one consisting of a predefined namespace with the transport ID appended at the end: http://www.oracle.com/transport/2007/05/.
There is one service element in the effective WSDL, and the port address contains a URL whose syntax and semantic is defined by the transport selected in the binding.

The Installer Can't Create the Folder "Var/Folder/zc...
I've been trying to install the 10.7.5 update AND an iPhoto update from an App Store notification. Neither are working. I get an "Unknown Error" message at the app store and the following message when I click to install the 10.7.5 pkg:
The installer can't create the folder "var/folders/zc/c2c_sr*n3tl66tr7dwvltr84000gn/T/install.14239UqZAxL
I've run "Repair Disc Permissions" in Utilities.
Any suggestions? I've seen this problem addressed in other discussions, but none of those solutions seem to work for me. Thanks in advance.Hi, it's important to Repair the Disk, or at least Verify Disk before Repairing Permissions.
Also, how much free space is on your Hard Drive?
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions. -

photoshop elements 12 editor doesn't open, organizer is fine. I uninstalled the program and re-installed it (restarted the computer each time)...didn't solve the problem. using pc, windows 8.1
can someone help me with this issue? Two suggestions: the first one is a workaround. You just have to drill down your program file tree to Adobe Photoshop Elements Organizer and find the .exe file - the one specifically for Organizer, not Elements. Make a shortcut to that file on your desktop and it will open Organizer. The second suggestion resolved the problem altogether for me. I actually called Dell and after working with several different techs over several different days, I talked to a tech in premium support who was excellent. I discovered from them that it is actually a problem with the windows system files. I have 8.1. I went through a "refresh" on my computer which rebuilt all the files. Then reinstalled Adobe as well as my other programs again and Photoshop Elements Organizer works from the standard desktop shortcut.

How to find the listener port on windows? The Internet Protocol stack comes with a number of utilities - one of these, called netstat, is very useful to determine which processes are doing what to which IP ports on that platform. Unfortunately, different flavours are implemented. So the Windows one does not support the parameters and output than the Unix/Linux one.
You can use the following on Windows (run it via a command console) to see what processes are listening on what address and port number:
c:\> netstat -n -a -p tcp
-n = display IP addresses and ports in numeric format
-a = list all ports (including ones used for listening
-p tcp = only display protocol entries for TCP An Oracle listener entry should look something as follows:
Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP 0.0.0.0:1521 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENINGSeeing IP +0.0.0.0+ means that the Listener is accepting connections on all your network interfaces - which is standard. The port number is typically 1521. The foreign address is meaningless for a port in listening state.
PS. Why not simply check the listener.ora configuration file? Because what is actually happening may not be what you thought you configured to happen.. -
Win2k reboots after i manually create the tnslistener service
Guys do let me if the solution 4 d below described problem.
lsnrctl exe allows me to create a tns listener service and even the clients can connect once that service is up and running, problem starts when i reboot the win 2k server that has a database and tnslistener service installed.
The blue screen that i get says inaccessible_file_system.
The same occurs even if the tnslistner service is set to manuall and stop.
Once i use the boot from previous known good option it removes the tnslistener service and then boots properly. After the mounting the database manually i can still login on the server with any server name ie @ symbol.Yes, you need to contact Orange andn ask that the PIN be removed from the old account there.
