Installation of multiple versions of PS & DW

I just bought (have not opened boxes yet) a new computer, PS cs6 and DW cs6.... on my old computer I have PS cs4 and DW cs4.  When I install the new software on the new computer, I would also like to load the old versions as well.... Is this easy as installing the old & the new versions in seperate directories? are there any things to be cautious of or any special procedures when doing this?... like any special instalation order?
I believe I am licensed for 2 cpies of the cs4 titles, but only ever loaded them onto one computer... does this mean i don't even neeed to deactivate the old titles and can keep them on the old computer, just in case the new system fails for some reason.
Thank You!
Tracy Guilbeau

cs6 and cs4 apps (except for different acrobat versions) all coexist without problem.
and you do not need to deactivate on your old computer as you correctly deduced because that will be one of your two concurrent activations.

  • Is it possible to build a .zxp installer containing multiple versions of a plug-in or extension?

I'd like to be able to include multiple versions of our InDesign plug-in in a single .zxp (e.g., one for InDesign CS6 and another for CC). Is that possible? I don't see how since the "version" attribute is on the root (<macromedia-extension>) element, but I I've seen some mention of this being possible, at least with Extensions?
    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi Carl,
That's great. In reading the documentation, I must have missed the fact the "minVersion" and "maxVersion" may be attributes on a <file> element as well as the <product> element. Does it say that somewhere?
On a related note, I am having no luck at all in getting my plug-in files installed in the proper InDesign application directory on a 64-bit Windows machine which has both 32- and 64-bit versions of InDesign installed. Despite having defined the "bit" attribute in each file element properly (I *think*), e.g.:
        <file source="MyPlugIn.pln" destination="$indesign/Plug-Ins/MyPlugIn" platform="win" bit="32" file-type="plugin" folder="content" />
        <file source="MyPlugIn_x64.pln" destination="$indesign/Plug-Ins/MyPlugIn" platform="win" bit="64" file-type="plugin" folder="content" />
All of the files and folders identified as "platform='win'" end up installed in the 32-bit InDesign plug-ins folder, regardless of the value of the "bit' attribute. Nothing gets installed in the 64-bit version.
Apparently,  the macro "$InDesign" does not work for a file element whose "bit" attribute is set to "64". Since this is the first 64-bit Windows version of InDesign, and the Extension Manager CC Configuration Reference is apparently unavailable as yet, I took a guess based on the way that the paths to the Illustrator and Photoshop directories were specified in CS6. I.e., I tried "$InDesign64" for the 64-bit version, but that did not seem to work.
    What am I missing here?
    Thanks for your patience...

  • Multiple versions of pages

    Hi,
Can we have different versions of the pages like different layouts styles ?, but the same Java class should drive all the versions. Our Client wants to have different versions of pages runtime, like some customers sees X version other can see Y version of the pages and on the runtime they want to control the traffic with control panel, like 30% should see X version and 70% should see Y version.
can we achieve this with ATG ?

You require ATG Campaign Optimizer for using such type of testing.
You ll need to get the installer for the same, and then include the required AB Testing modules.
Using the A/B testing you can have multiple versions of your jsp for diverting traffic, and campaign optimizer will show you the statistics and other info in your dashboard as to which jsp is getting hit maximum.
Also there are are numerous other advantages of testing multiple promotions etc. with A/B testing.
Please refer to ATG campaign optimizer documentation for more info.

  • In windows how do we install and activite multiple versions of tuxedo at the same time ?

    Hi All,
In windows how do we install and activate multiple versions of tuxedo at the same time ?
    Advance wishes

You can run different versions of Tuxedo on the same server, as long as they are installed in different directories.
See PeopleTools 8.53 installation manual Task 3-1: Installing Oracle Tuxedo
You can install Oracle Tuxedo once for each release on a machine, regardless of the number of PeopleSoft
applications or databases the server supports. For example, if you are a PeopleSoft 9.1 customer and have
Oracle Tuxedo 6.5 installed, you may install Oracle Tuxedo 6.5 and Oracle Tuxedo 11gR1 on the same
machine in separate directories. For example:
On Windows, you may install into C:\oracle\tuxedo11gR1_VS2010 and C:\tux65.
On UNIX, you may install into /home/oracle/tuxedo11gR1 and /prod/tuxedo/6.5.

  • Unlimted License Patch fails for multiple versions of  Server Express

I'm following the directions for installing and licensing two versions of Microfocus Server Express for a PeopleTools 8.52 upgrade. When I get to the point where I apply the Unlimited License Patch (ULP), the application to the first version goes fine, showing a successful "installed" message. After installing the other version of Server Express, I try to apply the ULP again and this time it returns an "uninstalled" message. Eventhough I had COBDIR set to the 2nd installation, the ULP deinstalled the patch for the first installation. I'm doing this as the root user but I have su'ed to root. This worked fine 2 years ago. What am I missing in the environment that prohibits me from installing the ULP for multiple versions of Server Express?

  • Multiple versions of Photoshop ok? Conflicts? Hard drive space?

CS4 and CS5 Extended are currently installed on my computer, along with extensive number of third party plug-ins. I'm already encountering problems opening CS5 Extended--takes 2-3 tries before it actually opens; get "not responding" message first couple of times and have to force quit. Am concerned that purchase and installation of CS6 Extended will further complicate matters. Should I uninstall them before installing CS6 Extended? I currently have multiple Photoshop CS4 and 5 folders, etc in my Applications folder. Am thinking a clean-up is in order but thought I'd get advice before proceeding with CS6 purchase and attempt at clean-up. Also, if applicable, I have multiple Lightroom folders as well (2, 3, and 4) and am now having issues jumping over to Photoshop for additional editing from there. Thx

Yes, multiple versions mess with file associations. That's all it comes down to and pretty much the source of your troubles. Other than that there is no reason why one couldn't have multiple versions running, but feel free to consolidate and remove older versions....

  • Why does Windows shows multiple versions of Firefox installed?

I am running Firefox 11.0 on Windows 7 home premium 64 bit OS. Firefox seems to be working fine.
When I check the list of installed programs in the Windows control panel I see two versions of Firefox listed (11.0 and 10.0.2). Is this normal? Does the installer not remove older versions when it does an update? Is is safe for me to uninstall the older version?
By the way, same situation for Thunderbird. It shows both 10.0.2 and 9.0.1!

It sometimes happens that the updater doesn't remove the old entry in the installed programs section and thus shows multiple versions as installed. You usually only have the most recent version installed and will remove that version if you try to uninstall the older version because both point to the same installation folder. You can either remove that registry key yourself or use a registry cleaner.

  • Multiple versions of Apache and PHP

I'm setting up a new Xserve with Apache2 and PHP5. I understand that Xserves ship with Apache2 and Apache 1.1 already installed and when I do
    httpd -v
it reports back the older version of Apache. When I do
    php -v
    it reports back version 4.4.1.
At the time I investigated this, I didn't know Apple had pre-installed Apache2 so I installed it via Fink and FinkCommander. When I installed it originallyl from the entropy.ch files, asking httpd for its version reported the older version even though the System Preference pane said that Apache2 was up and running. What is going on that both are running simultaneously?
After installing Apache2 via Fink, httpd now properly reports its version as 2.0.55... which is what I would expect after properly updating Apache from 1 to 2.
I'm experiencing something similar with my PHP5 installation via Fink. Asking terminal for php -v reports version 4.4.1, however when I query PHP through a web script running phpinfo() it reports back in the web browser as being version 5.0.4.
So, what triggers the command line to report back different versions of installed web services than other methods? Why does my webpage through phpinfo() report back 5.0.4 where terminal says php -v is 4.4.1? Does it even matter? Does this mean two copies of PHP are running? What turned on the old version? I thought PHP had to be triggered by a PHP request. Why does Apache2, when insttalled through one method still report the older version when queried through terminal, but installed a idffererent way report the new version? Why did that not seem to afffect the ability for Apache2 to run properly? What does the version, as reported through terminal, of a given web service even mean if multiple versions of web services can run simultaneously and multiple reports of those versions can return different results? For that matter, how can I then truly verify that the version running is the version I installed? It wasn't until terminal reported my version of httpd as being 2.0.55 until I felt like the Apache2 installation was truly successful. Was I overthinnking the problem? Is there even a problem? Aaaagghghgh!!!!!!
    17 Powerbook - 1.5Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   2GB RAM, Adobe CS2, Xcode 2.2

Ahhh!!!! OK, that makes a ton of sense. I checked the PATH environment variable and see what you're talking about.
This kind of leads to a follow up question . If I do a
    php -v
and I get back some information about some version of php installed at some path referenced in the environment variable, how can I tell what path OS X found the php command in? Is there any way to say, "Hey, computer, tell me where you think php is located." Because there are seven or eight paths I could search in, but it seems like a trivial matter for the computer to just tell me where it's looking, rather than me hunting for the command file.
It also seems that fink has installed /sw paths into my environment variable for me and that my apache httpd command is located in one of these but my new installation of php5 is not. That's really what was tripping me up was that I hadn't modified the environment variable for $PATH myself and some things were reporting properlly and others were not. Fink did most of the work I expected, but not all, leading to a confusing version report.

  • HT5925 I am getting an error message that says multiple versions of outlook are installed.  any suggestions?

I am getting an error message saying multiple versions of outlook are installed which prevents me from accessing ICloud.  Any suggestions

Some users have found that they still had an old version of outlook.exe from an earlier installation of Outlook, even after upgrading.  See the end of this discussion as an example: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20439343#20439343.

  • HT1349 I have multiple versions of Outlook installed, and the icloud calendar won't work, how do I correct this?

I have multiple versions of Outlook installed and icloud won't work, how do I correct this?

We mananged to resolve this exact issue on a machine recently that was running MS Office Home and Business 2010. However a copy of MS Office 2000 was also installed (for legacy reasons re Access 2000) and it was this causing the issue. We used Programs & Features to 'Change' the Office 2000 installation to 'Add/Remove' features and de-selected Outlook in here. This prompted a reboot and the issue was subsequently fixed.
Please note this did not remove the Outlook 2010 that was installed (and in use), but be careful to have a backup of your Outlook as your mileage may vary.

  • Managing Multiple Versions of LabVIEW on same Computer

With a new version of LabVIEW coming out every year, and service packs every 6 months, what is the best way of keeping different versions of LabVIEW (8.6, 2009, 2010 SP1) on the same computer, without being effected by new installations?
I have read up on some people using virtual machines to do this. From past experience with virtual machines, I remember only being able to
use a single monitor with the VM. However, it is very helpful to have 2 monitors when programming; are there VMs that can run in 2 monitors (just like
    a normal OS?)
    Thanks for the input.

    LV 6.1, 8.6.1, 2011 SP1, 2012 SP1

    Hi Jim,
I have installed multiple versions of LabVIEW on the same PC.  When doing upgrades, such as a service pack, it does not affect other installed versions.  This was done as a regular install in the OS, not using Virtual Machines.
I have been doing this since 2001, and for some customers, they have versions ranging from 6.1 to 2009.  Only in one recent situation has there been an unusual event with multiple parallel installations.  It was due to a DAQmx driver installation (long story).
Overlaping drivers should not be an issue.  The issue with the DAQmx driver was that I forced to revert a LV8.2 driver by cheating on the installation.  It worked for 8.2 but screwed up something in 2010.  That was because I did not install the DAQmx drivers the way they were supposed to be installed.

  • Can I have multiple versions of JDeveloper on Mac?

    Hi,
Can I have multiple versions of JDeveloper on one Mac, like Windows?
I have JDeveloper 11.1.2.2.0 (11.1.2.2.39.61.83) on Mac and want to install 11.1.2.3.0.
Is there any considerations/notes if any?

    Timo & Vinod,
Thank you for your input. I'll try it out, then.
    Regards,
nTimo & Vinod are exactly right - you'll simply have to create a new Middleware home. (At current count, I have four different JDev versions running on my own Mac.)
The only thing to note will be the creation of a new "system11.xxx" directory in the hidden ~/.jdeveloper directory where the installer places the files for the integrated weblogic server/domain.

  • Installation of different versions of GUI clients on same machine

    Hi All,
Is there any document about how to install different versions of MDM GUI clients on same Machine.
we have different version of MDM server in Sandbox and Developement environment. I know we can install different versions of GUI Clients by specifying different locations. But i am looking for some standard document / SAP note. Please if anyone has this information, it will be very helpful.

    Hi Shiv,
You can find this information regarding different Version of GUI Clients on same machine from Standard SAP Installation Guide on Page 51
5.1 Maintaining Multiple Versions of MDM it tells that you can install multiple versions of MDM 5.5 on one host and switch between the versions. This may be useful, for example, when updating the patch level.

  • Multiple versions on one computer?

    Hi!
I am a new Macbook user that I bought to start developing Mac software.
I would like to use multiple versions of Mac OS X on my macbook if possible.
Can this be done so that I would have 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5 of Mac OS X installed and select the version on boot.
    Thank you!

Just to build on what TP has mentioned... the reason for this is that older versions of OS X are never updated for newer hardware. As all Macs ship with the most current OS on them, there is never a need to update previous versions of the OS. There have been a number of significant hardware updates since 10.3 (I don't believe any version of 10.3 was ever released for the Intel Macs). If you had an older MacBook that came with 10.4, you could get away with installing both 10.4 (using the version it shipped with) and 10.5. If you have a more current MacBook, 10.5 is pretty much your only choice.

  • [Forum FAQ] Schedule multiple versions of System Image Backup in Windows 8.1

As we known that there is no UI for user to configure Image backup in Windows 8.1, this is a guide for your to schedule multiple versions of System Image Backup.
Step 1: Create a task to schedule an image backup with following command:
    SCHTASKS /Create /SC WEEKLY /D MON /TN WeeklyFullBackup /RL HIGHEST /ST 13:00 /TR “wbAdmin Start Backup -backupTarget:F: -include:C: -allCritical -quiet”
Step 2: Schedule a robocopy to backup the saved image with BAT file:
Please create a new folder (in this example, the new folder is e:\test2) to save your multiple copies of image backup:
Write following batch file to copy backup and rename with backup date:
    *****************BAT********************
    @echo off
    robocopy e:\test1\ e:\test2\ test.wim
    ren e:\test2\test.wim  test_%date:~10,4%%date:~7,2%%date:~4,2%_%time:~0,2%%time:~3,2%.wim
NOTE: e:\test2 is my location to save multiple copies of image backup; e:\test1 is the location I create the system image backup.
This BAT can also help to rename the copy of image backup with date and time like below:
      3.  Set up a basic task in Task schedule:
Note: please make sure the time you configured follows the time you set for image backup in Step 1.
Action -> Create basic task (Name you task) -> Trigger (Set how often this task should be run) -> Action (Start a program) -> Under Program/script, point to your bat file you create in Step 2.b -> Finish
At the end, you can know more about SCHTASKS and Robocopy via following links:
