Installed Flash for Firefox, killed it on Safari

Firefox self-updated itself while it was running. Wen I restarted it, it asked me to update my Flash player to version 10.2.152.33. I did this. It works great in Firefox. Safari had problems with Flash before, (it would not properly display YouTube videos,) but now the applet won't even start at all, saying "missing plugin." What gives?

Hi,
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then Select the Security tab. Make sure: Enable Plug-Ins is selected.

  • Can't Install Flash for Firefox

I was prompted today by Firefox to install the latest version of Flash. Unfortunately, the installer says I have insufficient permissions for the file C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll. As I understand it, that would mean I don't have administrative permissions, but I do. I am on the only account on this computer, an administrator account.
I downloaded the uninstaller to try to start fresh. It uninstalled successfully, but when I tried to install, I get the same error. Now I have no flash at all for Firefox.
I tried to use IE instead, and that worked perfectly. I can view flash content in IE now fine. Unfortunately, I guess I have to install it for Firefox separately, because I still can't view flash content in Firefox.
I am using the latest version of Firefox on Windows 7 64 bit. Does anyone have any idea what to do?

     NPSWF32.dll has a modified date of 7/17/2009.
That sounds quite old!  Can I assume that all other files in that folder are newer?
    Can you try the following:
open a Command Prompt (Start | Run | type cmd )
in the Command Prompt window type this sequence of commands
    cd \
    cd Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    regsvr32 /u NPSWF32.dll
    exit
(You can copy and paste, or type everything in just lowercase characters.)
Next open Windows Explorer, go to C:Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash and delete NPSWF32.dll (also install.txt, as it is probably also old).
If you cannot delete that file, what error message do you get?
P.S. there should be no web browsers running when you do all the above.
    P.P.S. see next post...

I cannot install flash for firefox 3.6.11... The donwload manager is empty...

  • Hi im having huge problems trying to install flash for my mac 10.5 imac, iv gone through the internet and tried all of the solutions, everytime i try to install flash it says cant read the download file, or it just wont install, anybody plz help!

hi im having huge problems trying to install flash for my mac 10.5 imac, iv gone through the internet and tried all of the solutions, everytime i try to install flash it says cant read the download file, or it just wont install, anybody plz help!
iv unistalled flash, iv checked plug ins it just wont work,

It would have been a great help to know precisely what Mac you have, so some of the following may not apply:
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
(If you are running Mavericks: After years of fighting malware and exploits facilitated through Adobe's Flash Player, the company is taking advantage of Apple's new App Sandbox feature to restrict malicious code from running outside of Safari in OS X Mavericks.)
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:
When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
You can also try these illustrated instructions from C F McBlob to perform a full "clean install", which will resolve the "Blocked Plug-in" message when trying to update via the GUI updater from Adobe.
Use the FULL installer for 12.0.0.44:  Flash Player 12 (Mac OS X)
And the instructons are here: Snow Leopard Clean Install.pdf
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Separate versions of Flash for Firefox & IE?

I normally use Firefox as my browser. Unfortunately, for
reasons beyond my control, I must on occasion use Internet
Explorer. I went to install the Adobe Flash player and found that
the Adobe downloader knows if I am accessing it through Firefox or
IE. Does this mean that there are separate versions of Adobe Flash
for Firefox and IE? If so, can I download both? If I cannot
download both, which one should I download?
    Thank you.

    a.lopov;
Ie/pc uses an active x control flash player, all other
    browsers use the
"netscape compatible "plug-in". Both can be installed on the
    same windows
system (other os don't have active x)--in fact, if memory
    serves the flash
application offers to install both players when appropriate.

  • Can you install flash for me thru my computer

Can you install flash for me going thru my computer ? [email protected]

Well this could happen for any number of reasons.
It's a workaround, but you could try the download in this
    link
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html
Technically that's the update for the Flash authoring tool,
but if you unzip it then you'll have a full players folder that you
can install. If you're stuck after that point then open a support
    case.
Flash Player technical support is available via webcase only
    at:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/
There is no phone support for Flash Player.

  • I have to re-install adobe flash for firefox every time i start my computer even if firefox shows that my adobe flash is working it does not.I also get notices from the websites i visit (get flash e.t.c.)

i have the latest firefox 10.02 in win7 and even if firefox shows is installed my adobe flash is not working so i have to run the flash installer every time i start my pc.After this everything works fine until the next start when i have to run the flashinstaller again

There are two versions of the Flash Player plugin. One is ActiveX and only works in IE. It sounds like you have that one installed. The other one works in all other browsers.
What seems to be happening is that you have security software that's blocking one of those versions of Flash/restoring your computer state and so it gets uninstalled when you start your computer. The other possibility is that there are permission issues. Unfortunately, this isn't something that Firefox can control; it's a problem with the Flash installation (Firefox is dumb and just looks in the registry for a list of installed plugins to load).
Make sure that you're an admin on your computer when you try to install Flash and that you check your security settings. If that doesn't work, try posting to the [http://forums.adobe.com/community/flashplayer Adobe community forums] to see if other people have had similar issues and know how to address them.

  • Install Flash for Safari Error

I have a Retina Display Macbook Pro running 10.8.3 with Safari at 6.0.3.  I can not install Adobe Flash 11.7.700.169 on it.  I get an error "Actionlist Not Found". All browsers are closed at the time and the Plug-ins ARE enabled.  No previous version of Flash is installed.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Michelle

I figured it out.  When youtube videos wouldn't work, the link sent me to Adobe's Install Flash page and this was the OSX available dmg
    AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_11_aih.dmg
    When I actually needed the
    install_flash_player_11_osx.dmg

  • Cannot Install Flash in Firefox 3.6.8

I am trying to install flash on my machine and can install it in IE 8 but not in FF 3.6.8. I am logged in as admin on this machine with no current AV program running, running Win XP SP3 32 bit. I started having problems with flash and FF 3.6.8 right away- the browser would freeze and hang while "loading" remained on the tab- until it would time out. I could close the browser but then would need to close the application in task manager to truly shut it down. Yesterday I re-imaged my machine reinstalling firefox and tried many times to install flash. The install seems to be awaiting input from the user but no "yellow bar" ever appears at the top of the browser window. I have added adobe.com to the sites allowed to install plugins manually, but even this doesn't resolve the problem. The install still just sits there forever with the plugin finder service never apparently finding and installing the plugin. The adobe Download manager downloads fine but the flash player does not. FF has been my favorite browser for years and I am hoping not to have to go back to IE. Please Help! Thanks In advance!

I had a similar problem at one point with Firefox and Flash and doing this resolved it.
Go to this page and uninstall your Flash with the software provided by Adobe here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Then go to this Adobe page and reinstall the latest version of Flash.
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
It was critical for me anyhow to unistall the old version via the software provided at the first site then reinstall the Flash Player. It should load as a Plug In automatically within Firefox.
If you have the add-on FlashBlock. Then a whole other issue is at work which I have also worked through using their "whitelist" of wewb sites feature. Let us know if this works for you.

  • Updating flash for firefox without admin rights

I use Firefox in an environment in which only IE is supported. Every time Adobe updates Flash, I lose the ability to view Flash content in Firefox as I lack admin rights to update it.
I have tried the work arounds and none solve the problem. Previously I would just download Firefox again, reboot, and the update would be there. No longer works.
Is there just no way for Firefox to update Flash internally, especially for users who lack admin rights?
I greatly enjoy using it but if I can can't update Flash, I will have to go back to IE.

    Hi,
    try with this instruction:
    http://www.varesano.net/blog/fabio/installing+flash+player+plugin+firefox+without+having+administrator+access+or+premissions
Worked for me (and many others, as seems)

  • Can't install flash for mac os 10.9

Trying to watch videos from Youtube on my new mac running 10.9. Prompted to install Flash player. I follow the recommended download instructions and it constantly gets stuck at 50% and then says I need to close Safari. Closing a Safari does nothing and the application still does not install. Help required

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Direct Download Links, Premiere too | ProDesignTools
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

  • How do you install Flash for Comodo on a Win 8 system

Just got a new computer which uses Win 8. For some reason it will not install Flash Player for the Comodo browser. After failing several times to open the download page so I could install it normally, I found the alternative download site, downloaded it and installed it. It said it had installed it and prompted me to click 'DONE'. So I did, but Flash is still not installed. All kinds of FAQs and help all over the web, but apparently there is nothing out there which helps you to solve this problem if you are using the Comodo browser. And it seems Adobe doesn't want you to contact them to get the answer - they do not provide a way to contact them about Flash Player, they only want you to contact them if you've bought one of their paid products.

Found an answer which works, so far

  • Can't Install Quicktime for Firefox under W2K

I am unable to install Quicktime with Firefox. I am running W2K.
The current version doesn't support Quicktime. I'm not able to find a version that does.
    Any suggestions?

Click the "Older versions" link and search for 7.1.6. I believe it is the last version to run on your OS.
