Installing agents on all servers

Hi all: I need to start performing regular inventories of our servers and software. Being lazy I was thinking ZCM (11.3.1) reporting would do the trick nicely. I only have the ZCM client installed on our OES 11 servers used for satellite servers. Is there are reason to NOT install the ZCM client on other OES servers? If I only want to perform inventory tasks, can I prevent ZCM from altering these servers in any other fashion, such as accidently install an application?
Also, and I know this is the linux forum, the same questions would apply to my Windows servers.
Chris Mosentine

Thanks. Got confused as I did not see "asset management" as a setting. I now have it set up. Thanks, Chris.

settigns>itunes and app store to make sure you are signed in.. If  you are, you will see your account name..... anyhow, click your account name, sign out and sign back in
also go to to settings>general>reset and reset network settings... if that doesnt work settings>general>reset and reset all settings!
one of those shall work. The last step would be to restore your device (apple.com/support) HT1414

  • Manually Installed Agent is not showing up in the Operations Manager Console Under Pending Management.

    Hi Community,
I submitted this question because I'm a bit stuck with SCOM 2012 R2, I'll try to explain briefly what is happening right now in my environment,  we have a DEV SCOM Deployment in which all the roles are installed in a single server, this servers is a
VMware machine running Windows Server 2008R2.
The Initial installation of the SCOM Operations Manager and all the other components was not performed by me but by a co-worker, unfortunately he doesn't remember much about the initial configuration. So i had to pickup where he left things about a year
ago, neither of us are SCOM experts, and we have almost no previous experience with previous versions of this application.
Now the problem that I'm facing is the following, all the DEV Servers are Domain Controllers and one of the indication within the "Guide for System Center Management Pack for Active Directory for Operations Manager 2012" states the following
    Configuration
    Supported?
    Agent-less monitoring
    No
After my first review I notice that our servers were being monitor by agent-less mode and given the above statement from the Operations Guide the only way that we could ever get those domain controllers monitor by SCOM would be by installing the agent on
each server, so I read somewhere (Can't remember where) that in order to install the agents in all the servers I should first remove them from the Agent-less node, which I did. Then I tried to use the discovery wizard to get the agent install in all of them
but it didn't matter how many times I try the servers never show up.
I read in a Tech Net Article that you had to modify the security settings so SCOM would let me decide if I wanted to approve it or not.
    --> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212853.aspx
I performed the suggested steps from the article but still the servers were not showing up, not even if I run the Discovery wizard, so I decided to go and perform the installation manually in a couple of servers I was able to install the agent in one of
the Domain Controllers, I configured the agent to use a service account that has Domain Admin rights. An hour after I installed the agent I went back to the Operations Console Manager and I check under Pending Action but the Server was not showing up. So i
went back to the Internet to try to find out if someone else had experience the same problem, and in one website some mentioned that if the servers were not showing up it was probably because they were still register in the SCOM Database, now I have no idea
of how i can check that or How can i remove them from there to have them available again, but what troubles me the most is that even after i installed the agent manually the server were not being recognize.
I went to the Event Viewer and I found one particular event that caught my attention, see below :

      </EventData>
    </Event>
Not sure if this is related to the problem that I'm facing right now, but , I make sure that the RPC Services were running and also the related dependencies too. There's no Firewall enable in any of the servers and DNS seems to be working properly.
Ports 135 / 5723 are open and listening so since I ran out of ideas, I would like to know if some of the experts in this field could perhaps give me some guidelines.
There's one caveat that I haven't mention yet and that is related to SQL, I checked and my user just has read access to SQL i'm not sure if that could affect this but i think is worth mentioning.
My main goal is to have all the servers showing up in the Operations Manager Console.
So thanks all in advance !

So you can ping and nslookup from your ms to these agents and vice versa right?  I wouldn't do a manual install, I would push the agent from the management server.  You can uninstall the agent manually, or use cleanmom to get rid of them.  Then
do an install from the console.  When you initiate the install from the console (management server), should it run into any issues it will dump out an error which will give you an idea of where the problem may be.
    From Holmans post on this:
e MOM Server could not execute WMI Query "Select * from Win32_OperatingSystem" on

    1.  Ensure agent push account has local admin rights
    2.  Firewall is blocking NetBIOS access.  If Windows 2008 firewall is enabled, ensure “Remote Administration (RPC)” rule is enabled/allowed.  We need port 135 (RPC) and the DCOM port range opened for console push through a firewall.
    3.  Inspect WMI service, health, and rebuild repository if necessary

  • Oracle EPM Planning 11.1.2.1 - Ziplogs utility not working on all servers

Oracle EPM Planning 11.1.2.1 - Ziplogs utility not working on all servers
We have Planning 11.1.2.1 distributed so that Planning web app, EAS etc. are on own webservers and Essbase is on separate cluster.
Currently we have an issue with ziplogs utility - it seems to work on Essbase servers gathering all necessary ODL logs for over 100MBs, but on Planning Webservers ziplogs utility seems to start, but generates only empty 1kb zip file without any content.
We haven't touched logging otherwise, everything should be pretty much in original state.
Unfortunately I can't remember now exactly, but I have a a hunch that ziplogs utility worked prior patching Planning element on webservers to 11.1.2.1.600.
Other servers or elements haven't been patched (although Oracle recommends also FS, EB etc. to be patched to 11.1.2.1.600). I'm wondering, could this be the reason as in a way FS and EB are on same patching level whereas Planning is not?
Also, there seems to be a bit of limited diskspace on webservers (still waiting for extension), but I would imagine lack of diskspace for preparing any temp files etc. would results in some errors, the problem is that ziplogs doesn't give any errors, just runs very short time and then ends bringing 1kb empty file.
Has anyone experienced anything similar and are you perhaps able to give quick guidance how to enhance or modify ziplogs batch file etc. to make it create a bit of logging of its own actions?
Thanks in advance if anyone has ideas what could be the root cause for this or faced something similar.

Okay, I was able to get it installed and Common Components installed correctly this time. I still can't access workspace though.
Is there something I need to do before I can browse to http://localhost:19000/workspace/index.jsp?
All I get is the following error:
    Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.5 404 Not Found
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
    Anyone know what's going on?

  • Install agent on solaris 10 using agent deploy application?

    Hi all,
I have installed 10g grid control on solaris 10 with new repository database on same machine.
The OMS, and agent is running on grid host.
Now I want to add other hosts (targets) into grid. For this, I have to install agent on target hosts. I am using agent deploy application method for installation of agent.
    It is giving error
    Istall --> Failed
"Pre-Install Script is Not Executed, Install is Failed, Run root.sh is Not Executed, Post-Install Script is Not Executed, Collection of Logs is Success"
version for agent and OMS is 10.2.0.1 and for repository database is 10.1.04
any idea, how to troubleshoot this?

Did you get answer? I had same problem on agent 10.2.0.4 deployment on linux 2.6.9-55.ELsmp.

  • How to use installed agent?

    Hi all,
       EM: 12.1.0.2
       Host: RedHat 6.3 64 bits
       DB: 11.2.0.3
I have installed successfully the Grid Control 12c on HOST01. I suppose that the installation install all the Grid control 12c binaries and an agent in the host where the repository database is. What i want to know is how to use that installed agent to monitor the repository database? I tried to manually add a target to host HOST01, but an error appears to me saying that an agent is already installed on the machine. How to use that agent to monitor my repository database?
    Thanks in advance.

You can discover (add) the repository database target to start monitoring it using the following steps:
    - Navigate to Setup > Add Target > Add Targets Manually
    - From the Add Targets Manually page, select Add Non-Host Targets Using Guided Process
    - From the Target Types drop-down list, select Oracle Database, Listener and Automatic Storage Management
    - Click Add Using Guided Discovery
    - From the Add Database Instance Target: Specify Host page, select the host where the repository resides, and click Continue
    - Follow the process to discover the repository database

  • Where to install agents?

    Hi,
    I have following architecture:
    - Server 1 - ODI installed with option Server
    - Client 1 - ODI installed with option Client
    - Client 2 - ODI installed with option Client
    - Server 2 - Oracle DB installed - ODI Repositories created
    - Server 3 - Oracle DB - source system
    - Server 4 - MS SQL Server - source system
    - Server 5 - Oracle DB installed - target system
I not sure where to install agents for this architecture:
    - on Server 1?
    or
    - on Servers 3 or 4 (source systems)
    or
    - on Server 5 (target system)
What solution will be the best one in this case?
    Thanks in advance!

It is best to install the agent as close to the target as possible. So, in your case it will be on Server 5.
Moreover, since you have only one target, then you have the advantage that you can install only one agent and it works.
Just keep in mind, that while installing the agent on the Server 5,
Server2, server3 and server4 should be visible to Server 5.
To explain more the above statement,
We have Filesystems FS1, FS2 on which the source files are located.
And the agent is located on ORADB1 which is the target Oracle DB. So, the filesystems FS1 and FS2 are visible to the system on which ORADB1 is installed and hence the agent on ORADB1 can also see the filesystems and hence access the files for processing.

  • UpToDate status False on all servers

    Hello,
Recently, all of my Lync servers (Front End Pool servers, Persistent Chat Servers, and Edge Pool Servers) show the UpToDate status as False; reporting red Xs as replication status in the Cscp GUI.  When running the Get-CsManagementStorageReplicationStatus
    command, I see the following:
    UpToDate : False
    ReplicaFqdn : ServerFQDN
    LastStatusReport : 12/20/2013
    LastUpdateCreation : 1/13/2013 :1:20:25PM
    ProductVersion : 5.0.8308.0
All servers show these exact same status (other than ReplicaFQDN).
Have any thoughts on how to get the Replication status to wake up and report all servers as UpToDate?  As far as I can tell, everything is replicating fine, it is just the UpToDate status is not reporting in.
Event viewer shows everything is fine, and when running a OcsLogger I am seeing the following Warning:
    TL_WARN(TF_COMPONENT) [1]0818.1318::01/13/2014-19:20:42.672.00000133 (XDS_Master_Replicator,QueryChangesMaintTask.PerformMaintTask:734.idx(97))
(0000000000B7AB7B)MasterRootDir not discovered yet. Skipping task.
Any thoughts on what might be going on?  I have tried restarting the lync servers, but no luck.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Can you run 'Invoke-CsManagementStoreReplication' cmdlet without issue, and does that have any effect?
    Kind regards
    Ben
Yes, it runs without any issues.  Once I run it, PowerShell just advances to the next line.  Inside of event viewer, I see the following event (just a normal log, not a warning or error):
Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Replica Replicator Agent
    reported the latest replica status.
    Status report reason: DataReceived
    Event ID: 3013

  • Install CCMS on DB servers

    Team,
We have installed CCMS agents on both ABAP and JAVA systems using the executables sapccm4x and sapccmsr.
Now we would like to install CCMS agents on DB servers to capture the performance metrics of DB system.
I have done the below steps
1.Logged in to DB server, updated the SAPCCM4X and copied the csmconf file to /usr/sap/<SID>/log/sapccm4x directory
    2.Installed the agent using sapccm4x -R pf=<profile path>
Even since the registration is succesful.I'm unable to capture the metrics for that particular system in RZ20.
I would like to confirm is it the same procedure used for configuring CCMS in ABAP and JAVA systems using sapccmsr and sapccm4x or its a different procedure.

    Satyanarayana N.

    Team,
    I'm facing a differnet issue now..when I register my databse system using sapccmsr -R pf=<profile path>/<instance profile>
