Installing plug-in in Eclipse for Tomcat

Hi,
I think for using Tomcat in Eclipse IDE, we have to use tomcat plugin. As per this link : "http://www.sysdeo.com/eclipse/tomcatplugin", I have downloaded "tomcatPluginV31.zip" files. Then Installation phase,
Plugin activation for Eclipse 3.0 :
select menu 'Window->Customize Perspective...->Commands', and check 'Tomcat' in 'Available command groups'
As per above, I opened Window->Customize Perspective -> Commands but I'm not seeing "Tomcat" to select.
Please corect me if I'm wrong, Anyone can help me.
Thanks,
Hari

You'll probably need to contact Bang and Olfsen on that issue. The plugin they offer appears to be more that two years old and may not be compatible with newer versions of iTunes. If you don't have the 1.1 version of the plugin, though (that's the most recent I can find), you might download that from B&O's web site:
http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beosound2/software-downloads-mac
and give it a try. It's included with the "firmware for Mac OS X 10.4" update.
Regards.

    thanx in advance

    I assume that you are using sysdeo plugin of eclipse for tomcat
    In that case if you can see three icons corresponding to tomact in your eclipse then your installation is correct (In the menu bar you will have icons to start stop and restart tomcat)
    now go to window--preferences and select tomcat
    select your tomcat version and set tomcat home
    hope it helps

  • Problems Installing Plug-ins

    I recently found this cool little plug-in that would let iTunes use my media direct buttons even when iTunes was running the background, but I've had trouble installing the Plug-in. According to Apple my iTunes data files should be located under User and then my user name etc. However, my iTunes is located in my program files and no plug in file exists. There is also a file for Mozilla plug ins under the iTunes directory and am curious if this could be conflicting with iTune's capacity for plug ins. I've also tried creating a plug in folder under the mymusic/iTunes/iTunes plug-ins, but didn't accomplish anything ( I didn't expect it too since that method of installing plug ins is used for XP and I'm running Vista). I've tried putting it under the general directory of itunes and the Mozilla plug ins but neither have had the desired effect of activating the plug in. Any help would be appreciated.

    CS5's automatic update mechanism is broken, perhaps because it is no longer updated and can't cope with the newer ways of updating.
    So this means you will have make a list of the updates that failed, go here: Product updates
    and manually download/install from there.

  • How can install the Fractal Image plug-in into Firefox for Windows 7?

    I have the plug-in necessary to view fractal images built with the now no longer Iterated Systems program "Fractal Imager." These are files with the .fif extension and the plug-in is needed to view them. The plug in I have is fully functional. The problem I am having is that I needed instructions on how to upload this plug-in into Firefox for Windows.

    There has been a change in where Firefox searches for plugins and the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder is no longer scanned for plugins, so Firefox won't find them anymore if they are installed in the plugins folder instead of the "browser\plugins" folder that Firefox now scans.
    You can set the plugins.load_appdir_plugins pref to true on the about:config page to make Firefox scan the "<install>/plugins/" directory for plugins like the WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll).
    You can alternatively move plugins from "<install directory>\plugins\" to "<install directory>\browser\plugins\" (create this folder when missing) to make Firefox find them again.

  • Looking for WebLogic 10.3.5 install media with Eclipse for 64-bit

    Hi,
    I need to install OSB on 64-bit for 11.1.1.5 suite.
    I have downloaded ofm_osb_generic_11.1.1.5.0_disk1_1of1.zip
    The instllation process asks for Eclipse location which should be installed with the WebLogic.
    The file I used to install the web logic was wls1035_generic.jar, but it doesn't have Eclipse.
    I was able to find WebLogic 10.3.5 with Eclipse (wls1035_oepe111172_win32.exe) but it is for 32-bit, I need 64 bit.
    Any idea?
    Thank you

    Hi Vlad,
    Thanks much for the ersponse.
    What I did I downloaded the 11.1.1.5 version that I need
    oepe-galileo-all-in-one-11.1.1.5.0.201003170852-win32-x86_64.zip
    I did unzip it, BUT! I what I am seeing in the unzipped content is not the 'regular' install distribution, I mean there is no INSTALL or SETUP utilities, there is an executable called eclipse.exe which when sarted gives me the eclipse I beleive. This is fine per say, my concern is that later when I go and try to install OSB that will be looking for eclipse installation, and if eclipse was not 'installed' but just 'unzipped' it won't see it. May I am making things a little more complex than they need to be, I am just a little confused. I am not sure if this is the right way that'a all, my goal was OSB this is what brought me to eclipse.
    Thank you,
    Anatoliy

  • Setting up eclipse and tomcat

    Does anyone here have any expertise configuring these two products?(eclipse and tomcat)
    I have my tomcat server running and it process them jsp pages just fine. I have also installed the plugin to get tomcat configured with eclispe.
    I am just having problems running a jsp file directly from tomcat. it always points to a file on the hd and not to the webapps area like it's supposed to......

    Sure - we use that combo for development all the time.
    What's the problem specifically? Did you create a new Tomcat project in Eclipse? If you did, then it will automatically add the project's web path as a context to Tomcat, and you can browse directly to it using your browser.
    FYI - note that the context that is created is going to point to the eclipse workspace directory - NOT the default webapps directory that you might have configured for Tomcat. That's OK.

  • Eclipse and Tomcat Policy Agent

    I have installed the Tomcat Policy Agent using the agentadmin script under Windows. If I run Tomcat normally using the start.bat script, everything is fine. However, if I run Tomcat through Eclipse's Server configuration, there is a problem fining the AMAgentFilter class.
    How do I set up the classpath for Tomcat in Eclipse to work with the Policy Agent?
    Thanks.

    Note: Above devolpement kit (WSAD 5.1.1) is a constraint.

  • Eclipse and Tomcat questions

    Hi everyone,
    Lastnight I setup Eclipse to work with Tomcat, which works very good, but there are something I don't understand.
    1. My files are put in my workspace in (C:\Documents and Settings\...etc)
    How does Tomcat (which is installed in C:\Tomcat) know that it should get the files from my workspace directory?
    Because in the C:\Tomcat directory I can't find any .XML file that refers to my workspace directory.
    2. How I developed my servlets till now, I had some other free editor, I needed to compile my servlets then restart Tomcat and then test it.
    With Eclipse + Tomcat plugin, all I need to do save the servlet and apparently the source code is compiled automatically. All I need to do is refresh the servlet in my browsers (very handy and easy to develop like this). But my question is, does Eclipse compile the servlet automatically after saving? And why doesn't tomcat have to be restarted?
    Just a few questions to understand it a bit better, I'm really happy with this setup as it makes everything a lot easier.
    Regards,
    Steven.

  • How to configure eclipse for Oracle SOA 11gR1 development

    Hi,
    I have installed oracle 11gR1 ( 11.1.1.3.0) and have found that Eclipse (Galileo) as development tool. When I opened Eclipse to create new SOA Project for BPEL development, I could not able to find a SOA Project category. I assume that we need to install plug-in for developing the SOA Project.
    I browse through the site and could not able to locate anything quite useful. Could you please guide me on how to proceed..
    Is Eclipse the strategic development environment for Oracle SOA 11gR1, R2 development.. ?

  • Could be a fix for Tomcat 6 issue

    Getting Eclipse 3.2, Tomcat 6.0 and JSF 1.2 playing together nicely is a task that is certainly not for the faint of heart. Tomcat 6 seems to have issues at the moment but I'm loathed to push too much of the blame on to it as generally Tomcat has been rock solid. The big problem is really with Eclipse. The WTP (Web Tools Platform) is not as good as it could be and doesn't currently support Tomcat 6. Fortunately there is a work around to fool Eclipse into thinking that Tomcat 6 is really an install of Tomcat 5.5.
    Running Tomcat 6 Under Eclipse
    Find the file org.eclipse.jst.server.tomcat.core_1.0.103.v20060904b.jar which lives in the plugins directory under the Eclipse install directory. Copy the file somewhere else and unzip it. Modify the file verifyInstall.properties so that the verify55install line looks like this:
    verify55install=bin/bootstrap.jar,conf,webapps
    Re-zip the files to create a jar with the same name as the one that you unzipped. Place the tweeked jar back in the Eclipse plugin directory and restart Eclipse. Configure a new Tomcat 5.5 instance but point it at a Tomcat 6 install.
    Installing JSF 1.2
    There is currently no myFaces version of JSF 1.2 so you are stuck with the RI from sun. Grab this and place it in the WEB-INF/lib directory. Update the web.xml file of you applicaiton so that it loads the faces servlet:
    <!-- Faces Servlet -->
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    <!-- Faces Servlet Mapping -->
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>*.jsf</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    When you come to fire up the applicaiton you may well receive this error message:
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: Application was not properly initialized at startup, could not find Factory:
    javax.faces.context.FacesContextFactory
    This is apparently due to some hot deploy issues with Tomcat. It would seem that Tomcat has a bit of a blind spot for configuring listener specified inside TLDs. Quite why sun release a RI that shows this bug up in the most widely used container is beyond me. The solution to this issue is to add the following listener to the web.xml file:
         <listener>
    <listener-class>
    com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener
    </listener-class>
    </listener>
    <!-- Listener implementation to handle web application lifecycle
    events -->
    <listener>
    <listener-class>
    com.sun.faces.application.WebappLifecycleListener
    </listener-class>
    </listener>
    That should be all that's required. I've noticed that Tomcat 6 seems to behave somewhat strangely under Eclipse. Hot deploy of JSPs doesn't work from Eclipse and Eclipse is unable to detect that Tomcat 6 is running - it always shows Tomcat 6 as starting. Some of the rendering of pages also seems to be strange but that could well be changes that I haven't yet discovered.

    10.4.3 is certainly not a fix - see the airport/RAM thread. Within 10 minutes of installing the update, the bug happened for the first time at work (had happened many times at home). I doubt calling tech support would add anything - there's no way they don't know about the issue. There's a cmd line option in a link in that other thread where you can tell tiger to only use 1024 MB, which will fix the problem without having to physically remove RAM, but keeping it at 1 GB is pretty much the only option. It's a major bummer to say the least.
