Instantiating

Hello everybody!
I have created a class(neither distributed nor shared) definition where
there is only one attribute which is set to be private (to comply with good
OOA&D rules) and its value gets set via constructor during creation. I am
having problem just doing that. But if the attribute within that class is
public, then no problem. Seems to me that the parameter I am passing in the
init method has to be a class attribute with public access level. That
really puzzles me. Following is an excerpt of the code. If any of you have
an idea on this behavior, I would appreciate a response.
The class definition is as follows:
class Vendor
private textdata Id;
Init(string aId)
super.Init();
Id=new;
self.SetId(aId);
private SetId(string aId)
self.Id.SetValue(aId);
Some outside class in the same project, by the following lines of code:
anId:TextData=new;
anId.SetValue('something');
currVendor:Vendor=new( anId.Value);
During compilation I get an error for line 3 that says
syntax error:(last symbol: .).
thanks

In this case, the get is not really used any where. The set is used by
Forte internally to set the real attribute when it gets the data from
the DB. Since the virtual attribute name matches the column and the set
part of the virtual attribute actually sets the real attribute, the real
attribute gets set.
The get method of the virtual attribute is just to complete the code,
and if you want to use the virtual attribute in your code, the get will
be used to return the value stored in the real attribute.
Hope this clarifies.

Hi!
How do you get the get to return the real attribute which is a
matching db
column. In my code, I will be returning all the rows ( approx 15) from
that
table. Therefore my select statement is without any where clause. How
will
the get will look like?
thanks

Why not. In that case, where you want your attribute to match the DB
column so that you can pass it directly in SQL, make use of Virtual
Attributes, where the name of the Virtual Attribute will match the
column in DB, the get will return the real attribute and the set will
call a method that will set the private attribute.
I have tested this and know it will work.

Hi! I followed your suggestion and made the following changes. Ilike
it a
lot. But unfortunately this cannot be done everytime (Keepattributes
private )- incase of a class that is mapped to a database table rowto
do a
select directly into.
Thanks again.

  • Session scope managed bean is not instantiating?

    We have the need to use a session bean (rather than pageFlowScope) in our application.  But it looks like the session beans are not being instantiated at run time like other beans are.  I created a simple test case to verify.  One bean, named "MySessionBean", defined in the task flow as Session scope, then referenced in a view with an input text box, value:  #{sessionScope.MySessionBean.value1}. When I run the application,  I just get PropertyNotFoundException, Target Unreachable, 'MySessionBean' returned null.
    If I simply change the bean to use pageFlowScope, everything works fine.   I have debug code in the bean constructor, and it never gets called.   Is there some other step I am missing to have ADF instantiate the session bean?

    No luck, I tried it in both adfc-config.xml, and faces-config.xml.  I also tried moving the call to my view, from my bounded taskflow, into the adfc-config unbounded task flow, and then I ran that instead.  Still got the same error.    Here is my code from the the last round of tests with the view called in the main adfc-config.xml unbounded taskflow:

  • Instantiation of new objects - a beginners cry for help!!!

    Hi - i am working through (on no not another bloody Bank Account) problem. It is the same problem posted in this topic - http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=308754
    where the author was roundly slated for not even having a go.
    I am not asking for someone to complete the program but would like to be kicked off again having ground to a halt.
    I had decided to create a Parent Bank Account class and then create child classes for Current, Platinum and Student Accounts. I am very unsure as to how to then create the methods that will allow the user to, for instance, check the balance, deposit an amount etc. While I am generally comfortable with While/Do's and Else/If's, Im still very rusty with the terminology and instantiation of objects that users can manipulate (having never yet created a working program!).
    Please read what I've done so far and then I would be msot grateful for pointers. Or if you want to slate me then at least make it funny!

  • How can I use methods of an object with private instantiation in my ABAP?

    Hello all,
    What is the work-around on using methods of an object marked as private instantiation? I tried to use concepts of <b>INHERITANCE</b> or <b>FRIENDS</b> of an object (<u>BCONTACT </u> in my case - a SAP standard object) but it did not work, or at least, I do not know how to properly code the statements in my ABAP program.
    Any code samples, other ideas?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    I am closing this question as there has been no answer.

  • How do i add the same mouselistener to many different instantiated objects?

    This is for a card game.
    The deck class instantiates 52 cards from the card class.
    The game has a deck of cards. I am dealing each player their cards, the player is to be dealt 8 cards each of which should have a mouselistener.
    How do I add the same mouselistener to each of the cards dealt.
    This is how I have it so far but it only adds a mouselistener to the last card dealt.
         public void dealPlayerACard()
              taken = availableCards.dealCard();
              taken.showCard();
              taken.addMouseListener(this);
         public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent MEvent)
              playerHand.remove(taken);
              paintHand(playerHand);
              playerHand.repaint();
    Any help would be appreciated

    Yeh I have 52 card object in the deck. Theyre not individually named, they were instantiated in the deck class.
    standardDeck.add(new Card(a, b, new ImageIcon(str), cardBack)); //creating and then adding the cards
    So i draw one card at a time, and I had a mouselistener to that particular card. But the thing is, When the cards are clicked, some checking happens and if the move is legal, the card is added back into the deck and its mouselistener should be removed. This is because that card could then be added to the computers hand, and I dont want no player using the computer players cards.
    The game deals the cards to players, players use the cards and then send them to the bottom of the deck, the deck is shuffled and then the game continues until a condition is met by either of the players.
    So i dont understand how a loop solution would work here. My mind is blank at the moment, maybe im not understanding properly. I am new to java. So if you do know the answer, please tell it to me. Please dont wait for a lightbulb to appear above my head. ;)

  • Disk " disk " does not exist or is not instantiated after reboot the server

    Hi,
    I have one issue with 11gR2 cluster. I have 2 node cluster on CentOS 5.5. I am using HP MSA 1000 storage LUNs and create disk group and volume for RAC setup in openfiler.
    The whole setup was running fine but before few days some one has recreate the database [clusterDB] using control file. I can see this from alter.log file of "oracle" user. And somehow one node is not able to up and running.
    I have no idea what is going on so just restart both the nodes and storage one by one.
    After restarting I can not view my ASM disk from /usr/sbin/oracleasm listdisks.
    EvenI can not see the ASMdisk from /dev/oracleasm/disks... also I try to querydisk it showing that "Disk "<diskname>" does not exist or is not instantiated"
    From the master node I can see the cluster registry configuration through "ocrcheck -config"
    *./ocrcheck -config*
    Oracle Cluster Registry configuration is :
    Device/File Name : +ACFSDG
    from the slave when I run the ocrcheck ...it gives error
    PROT-602: Failed to retrieve data from the cluster registry
    PROC-26: Error while accessing the physical storage ASM error [SLOS: cat=8, opn=kgfolclcpi1, dep=210, loc=kgfokge
    AMDU-00210: No disks found in diskgroup ACFSDG
    AMDU-00210: No disks found in diskgroup ACFSDG
    ] [8]
    Any idea what is the cause behind this? There are many errors in $GRID_HOME/log/<hostname>.log file and other referring file. I might be sure that until I enable the ASMDISK/detect the ASMDISK I can not start crs...
    Shall I try with restore operation of OCR or replace option in ./ocrcheck...will it usefull?
    Let me know if you have already face this issue.

    Thanks for your reply.
    I have "/dev/sd*" in my both the RAC nodes and on storage machine it was showing as "/dev/dm-*" whenever I run " fdisk -l " command... and I did this through iscsi initiatior and target and also create "Create Persistent Local SCSI Device Names ".

  • Error instantiating web-application:Application named 'javasso' is in stopp

    Hi,
    I am getting the following error while logging to Oracle Application Console.
    "Error instantiating web-application:Application named 'javasso' is in stopped"
    Environment details are as under:
    SOA suite: 10.1.3.1
    Oracle Database: 11.1.0
    I started getting this error after doing the following steps. Earlier everything was working fine.
    1. Created a connection pool and Datasource in JDBC resources under administration on 10g DB which worked fine.
    2. Attempted creating a connection pool on 11g DB which said connectiion successful when testing connetion. But once finalised and then again tried testing it gave an error saying " Invalid user name/password ".
    3. Since I know the username and password were correct, I tried changing 'ORCL' in the URL with the tns alias ORCL_421.
    4. Since I changed the URL, i was prompted to restart the defaults.
    5. Once I clicked on restart, after long time the browser still showed the timer rotating. So I refreshed the browser and it showed the application server was up.
    6. I went to check the JDBC resources and all the CONNECTION POOLs and DataSources are vanished.
    7. I logged out and then when i am trying to login again, I am getting the above error.
    8. I tried launching ESB and got the similar error but this time for esb "Application named 'esb-dt' is in stopped state."
    I am not sure why this is happening. AScontrol.log has the following error stack:

    Check your server.xml. You need a line like:<application auto-start="false" name="staging-load" path="c:\staging-load.ear"/>

  • Error while instantiating report Z_RD_ABSENCE_REPORT

    Hi Guys,
    we have just patched BWD, and while testing the broadcast setting i came across the following error.
    Error while instantiating report Z_RD_ABSENCE_REPORT
    Notification Number RSBOLAP 014
    I am opening report designer and when i publish via Bex Broadcaster this message is shown. I have checked SDN and sap market place but most of the soultion seem to focus on WAD.
    My feeling is that it is a JAVA error and is somethng basis might be able to fix.
    Please can anyone let me know if they have come across this problem before, and help would be much appriciated.
    Thanks
    Forhad

    Hello Forhad,
    RSBOLAP 014 is a issue regarding communication between ABAP (backend ) VS BI Java side.
    Read the note 937697 and follow his manual instructions.
    This note will start the BI Diagnostics. There you will see a red mark with RSBOLAP issue. COrrect this red mark following the recommendation on "Action" field.
    Good luck.

  • Error with signed applet "class can't be instantiated"

    hi,
    I developed an applet to make a ftp connexion to upload files from the local disk and the applet is already signed. At first I compiled it with the 1.4 version and I got (from other computers) the error "class not found". Then I used the target 1.1 option and now I get the error "class can't be instantiated"
    Do I need any additional code?
    I am using all these imports
    import java.applet.Applet;
    import java.applet.AppletContext;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.swing.JComponent;
    import javax.swing.JProgressBar;
    import javax.swing.*;
    Thanks

    go to
    Tools->Internet Options->Advanced
    Look for "Java (Sun)" (normally near Microsoft VM). I uncheck all the Microsoft VM options but am not sure if that is really necessary.
    Also play with Control Panel, you should see "Java Plug-in" in there and be able to configure browsers a bit with that.

    Irrespective of the working of your program, I would suggest you remove a lot of weeds and clean the code. That would help you do easier debugging .
    Somethings I can quickly tell are,
    the constructor in AcidRainApplet not useful, Rain implementing Applet not useful, implements KeyListener, ActionListener can be delegated to another class, usage of inner class can be rethinked of delegation can be given a thought. Following code can be thought of :
      class Rain
        private  int x = 0;
        private int y = 0;
        private int sp = 0;
        Rain ()
          reset();
        public int getX() {
          return x;
        public int getY() {
          return y;
        public void setX(int x) {
          this.x = x;
        public void setY(int y) {
          this.y = y;
         public void reset() {
          x = (int) (Math.random () * width);
          y = 0;
          sp = (int) (Math.random () * 5) + 2;
      }Good wishes,

    This is not a suggestion, it's a requirement. When you say
    class MyComboRenderer extends JComboBox implements TableCellRendererthe "implements TableCellRenderer" part is a promise that your class will include a method whose signature is
        Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table, Object value,
                                 boolean isSelected, boolean hasFocus,
                                 int row, int column);

  • XSL-1047: (Error) Invalid instantiation of 'xsl:output' in 'INSERT' context

    Following is my development environment:
    JDeveloper 9i Release Candidate
    JDeveloper JVM 1.3.1
    Oracle XML Parser v2 9.2.0.0.0
    I'm using the Oracle XML Parser V2 9.2.0.0.0 library to apply a stylesheet to an XML document. However when I invoke the call to processor.processXSL() an XSLException is thrown with the following details:
    oracle.xml.parser.v2.XSLException: <Line 1, Column 116>: XSL-1047: (Error) Invalid instantiation of 'xsl:output' in 'INSERT' context.
    exception
    Below is the sequence of events:
    // Create an instance of XSLProcessor to perform the transformation
    XSLProcessor processor = new XSLProcessor();
    // create a Reader from a String object that contains the stylesheet text
    StringReader r = new StringReader( stylesheet );
    // create a new XSL stylesheet, passing it the Reader object reference
    XSLStylesheet sheet = processor.newXSLStylesheet(r);
    // apply the stylesheet
    // the variable sheet represents the XSLStylesheet object
    // the variable source represents the XMLDocument object
    // this call throws the exception
    DocumentFragment df =
    processor.processXSL(sheet,source);
    I've included the Stylesheet and source XML file I'm processing below.
    Note: My application works fine when I use the Oracle XML Parser v2 9.0.1 library. (although I have to use new XSLStylesheet() in place of XSLProcessor.newXSLStylesheet())
    Any ideas on what has changed between the two releases? I do have a reproducible test case that I can send on if required?
    thanks in advance

    Your problem is that your stylesheet is illegal.
    You're using the "simple form" of the stylesheet which
    is equivalent to having a single root template.
    If you use the simple form, you cannot use: <xsl:include>,
    <xsl:import>, <xsl:output>, <xsl:param>
    or any other <xsl:XXX> element which must be at the "top-level"
    of the stylesheet.
    The solution is to change from:
    <INPUT xsl:version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="...">
       <xsl:output>
    </INPUT>.
    which is illegal to:
      <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="...">
        <xsl:output>
        <xsl:template match="/">
          <INPUT>
          </INPUT>
        </xsl:template>
      </xsl:stylesheet>

  • Offline Instantiation of a Materialized View Site Using Export/Import

    Has anyone had any success performing offline instantiation of a materialized view site using export/import in Oracle9?

    This is what I wanted to ask in the forum. I want to use datapump for the initial instantiation because I believe that indexes (the actual indextables, not just the definition) are also replicated using datapump.
    So, is it possible to do the instantiation using datapump?
