Instrument driver not saving in workspace

I'm very new to LabWindows, so sorry for a newbie question. I've added an instrument driver to my project to have secure obfuscated text entry on a text string control for password purposes. See here.
However, when I close LabWindows and reopen, the IDE seems to forget about the password instrument. I have to re-add it each time. Why doesn’t my workspace remember the instruments?
I tried looking in the ASCII of the workspace or the project file to see if there was a hard reference to the password fb file. Couldn’t find one.

You may solve this problem in two ways.
If the password control is to be used in that project only, add pwctrl.fp to the project itself.
If you plan to use this instrument for several projects of yours, you can add it to the library menu (Library >> Customise... menu netry, then browse to the instrument file to add it to the list and then restart CVI).

Instrument driver not show up

I download the instrument driver for Agilent Signal Generator E4438C from NI, and unzip it to the folder instr.lib, restart the labview program, but it doesn't show up in the function palette -> Instrument I/O -> Instrument Driver. I also download the driver for R&S FSQ26, go through the same procedure and it does show up in the function palette.
Besides, in the tool ->Instrument ->Searching Instrument Driver, I could see the ESG driver "Agilent ESG Series" in the "Installed Instrument Driver". Could anyone help on this, thank you.

Illustrator CS6 is not saving user-created workspaces

I have created a workspace to save for all of our users to utilize, but it is not saving. When I re-start Illustrator the created workspace is selected but is not coming up as it was saved. Is this a glitch, or am I missing something?

What if you Save As PDF, thus embedding the font(s), and they take it from there?

You can backup the bookmarks on the old computer and create a JSON or HTML backup and restore or import this file in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
You can use an USB stick to transfer the saved bookmarks file to the new computer.<br />
You can also copy the places.sqlite file from that computer to have the bookmarks and the history.

File is not saving in local drive when I run thru AS

When I run my forms in my local machine, I can save my reports in pdf format to my local drive C:\
Now I transferred my forms in the application server. When I run the form and generated the reports, it was saved in server's drive C:\
It's hard coded, I have C:\ as my path to save my reports. But I want it to save in my local drive, not in server. Any idea how to do this?

The Reports Server cannot access your local PC. So, you first need to store the output on the application server (AS) and then copy it to the PC. You can use webutil for this. Search this forum or Google for webutil_file_transfer.as_to_client.

"national instruments dsa not detected" 4551 driver

Hi there,
I tried to install 4551 dsa driver using NI-DAQ 7.4.4 and NI-DSA 2.1 but when I launched the soft front panel application of DSA 2.1 the following error was appeared "national instruments dsa not detected".
The PCI device in device manager is not installed yet and I tried many ways to install the device driver but unsuccessful attempt.
Please let me know if you have any idea

- I have tried some operating systems; Windows Seven Pro, Windows XP, Windows 98, Windows 2000. It seems the Ni-DAQ drivers installed completely.
- Actually I've tried the hardware on different systems and the the green LED blinking in different ways; on a Pentium 3 motherboard it was blinking continuously, but on a Pentium 4 motherboard it blinking until the operating system uploaded.
- No, the device does not appear in MAX.
- Exactly, the device appearing as "PCI Device" with yellow exclamation mark in device manager.
- I apologize for typo I've installed NI-DSA 1.2
I want to mention that in my investigation for solution I found that the hardware configuration (Hardware Ids) state the vendor as 1013 for my 4551 but the PCI-4551 card defined in NIDAQ2.inf with vendor of 1093 so it seems completely reasonable that the drivers can not be detected by windows.

Windows 7 (64bit) & Office 2010 (32bit) Excel 'Document not saved' over WAN to network drive

Hi All
We are currently in the process of upgrading all PC's on our WAN to windows 7 across multiple locations
I know this has been asked numerous times but nothing is working for me.
We are experiencing the dreaded 'Document not saved' error at only some locations (5 or 6 out of 200 for all users, these sites generally have slow network connections) when trying to save to a network share back at our HQ. it creates a .tmp file and leaves
the original document intact but without the changes, changing the name of the document in save as doesn't work. saving locally and copying to the share works. We can save locally and to other onsite network shares. It constantly happens so the document can
never be saved to that network share.
Always worked on XP SP3 with Office 2010.
the files in question are around 4mb. smaller excel files with no contenct do work.
I have tried literally everything listed on all forums and nothing seems to resolve it...I've tried
- the hotfix - doesn't apply to my enviroment and the offending KB aren't installed.
- the network resiliency, pivot table network resiliency and Enable simply copy for UNC registry keys
- disabling offline folders, windows search and indexing
- disabling SMB2 on the client
- turning off QOS on the IP4 settings.
- trusted documents.

Hello, We've been having this same issue, and I think we have a work-around.
If we change HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters\RequireSecuritySignature from "0" to "1" we still get the error message but the tmp file is NOT created. If the user tries to save again, it is then successful.

Custom Instruments Not Saving

I'm having an issue with GarageBand/Logic that just doesn't make sense to me. I have several aiff files that I want to use as samples for a custom instrument. I have followed the steps found here to the letter: http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/logic-pro/quick-and-easy-sampler-instruments-in-l ogic-pro-x, and just to make sure I wasn't doing something that can't be done I found this in the support docs: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12947, which basically says the same thing as the macprovideo article... Everything seems right. I can play the new custom instrument from the Musical Typing Keyboard, I can even play the instrument through my MIDI keyboard. Perfect.
However...
When I save the instrument everything looks the same way as discribed (everything to correct folders, etc.) if I close the project and exit the program, when I go back to use the"User Patch" in a new project, the patch has "magically" reverted back to the original sounds and all my sample assignments are gone.
Am I missing something... Doesn't this article say that once you've saved a custom instrument you can use it in other projects?

on useless glitch filled logic, none of my instruments save.. ever. Ohh its wonderful. I save the instrument itself. Save the the project. It crashes, reopen, the custom instrument is there in user patches. but none of the sounds are on the keys.. Oooooh great.
the "genius" at the "genius" bar were less than %0 helpful. They could hardly find where the folder the instruments were being saved to let alone address the actual problem.

Find Instrument Driver will not find 6070E vi

I am trying to find vi which have been written for PXI-6070E card. Some basic, like output 1 V out of the DAC1OUT.
When I use the 'Find Instrument Driver'...and query National Instrument (Company) and 6070E (Additional keywords) I get no drivers? I recall being able to get drivers before.
Can someone please help me?

The Find Instrument Driver tool is for finding drivers for instruments like scopes, DMMs, power supplies, etc. The PXI-6070E is a DAQ card, so examples for it would be installed when you install the DAQmx drivers. You can find the examples in the Example Finder (Help -> Find Examples), and search for "DAQ", or go to the Hardware Input and Output -> DAQmx folder from the tree menu.

How to package instrument driver in the user.lib or instr.lib directory

I currently am using bunch of instrument drivers in my project.
In the VI form it works fine, but I noticed that once converted to an executable,
there are errors regarding the DLL that the drivers are calling.
Apparently the driver VI check if its being called in an VI or executable based on the current directory.
I dont think this is good/correct programming to begin with... but anyways since this driver is
saved in the instr.lib directory of LabVIEW, when I call it from the executable the default path becomes
XXX.exe/1abvi3w/instr.lib/.../.../VI above.vi
I saw this post which talks about how vi's in instr.lib and user.lib will get the path 1abvi3w in an executable but never talked about how to deal with it.
so my question is can i solve this problem smoothly without copying the entire driver.lvlib into my project and
editing the VI above? i am fine with creating wrappers for driver vi's but would to like to avoid editing the driver vi's themselves.

I don't disagree, but there is a reason this code was written like that (you might note that it doesn't actually work) - before 2009, EXEs were built as flat directory, so stripping twice would bring you to the folder. Because of the addition of libraries, where different files have different names, this was no longer possible, so 2009 builds the EXE as a zipped hierarchy of folders, which is why the check for a folder succeeds even inside the EXE.
There are a couple of things you can do:
Replace the VI path with the Application Directory primitive. This is designed to function differently in an EXE. Understandably, you don't want to do that.
Check the 8.x checkbox in the advanced page of the build settings. This will make the code work correctly, but if there's LVOOP code with VIs of the same name anywhere, it will create extra folders that you need to move around with the EXE.
Add the driver to the project (just the lvproj, don't actually copy the files) and then set an explicit destination in the build for its VIs as an LLB in the data folder. This will place the driver VIs in an wLLB, which is external to the EXE and should then strip correctly. I can't say I have much experience with this, but I'm assuming it should also work with code that was originally in user.lib. This is probably the cleanest solution in terms of number of files because you only have one extra file.

Exactly why do you think that the driver is not supported with
LabVIEW 8? Installing the 7.1 version should allow it to be opened and
saved. Do you get an error message or something else when you try to
open it?
Since it's an IVI driver, you can also create a 8.0 version directly. Look at the link here
about the instrument driver import wizard. All of the available LabVIEW
drivers for this instrument have used this wizard to create them.
Download just the CVI driver to do this.

How to make an instrument driver appear in toolbox

Hi,
i created an instrument driver using the create new instrument driver project option. I have all the VIs in place in the project and have saved the whole thing, library and all into the instr.lib folder and have restarted labview and the VIs are still not showing up under instrument i/o -> instrument drivers option. could someone please go over the process or just tell me what i might be missing to have these drivers show up in the toolbox!

From the Getting Started Menu >> Browse
From the Create New window >> project >> project from wizard >> Instrument driver project
select New driver from template
select the type of instrument you have
Click next
**Make sure the project location is correct. I think this is where you are going wrong.**
It should say something like, C://Program Files/National Instruments/LabVIEW 8.5/instr.llb/yourproject/yourproject.lvproj
If you have this directory correct, it should show up under the instrument library

Sent Messages are not saved in Sent Mailbox

It was working correctly but suddenly all my sent messages are not saved in the Sent Mailbox. I follow all the Mail Help instructions but nothing seems to work. Hope that someone can help me. I asked for help on december 14 but it was not helpful

The mailboxes drawer contains all mailboxes under In, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk (if you have Junk Mail set to automatic).
If you have a .Mac or IMAP type account, you also have an account named icon for the .Mac or IMAP type account at the bottom of the mailboxes drawer. It is named by the Account Description you provided/entered for the account under the Account Information tab for the account preferences.
If you select save Sent messages on the server for a .Mac or IMAP type account, the account's Sent mailbox will be available under the account named icon in the mailboxes drawer along with all other server stored mailboxes.
To open the account named icon for your .Mac account to reveal the server stored mailboxes including the account's Sent mailbox, select the black triangle beside your .Mac account icon in the mailboxes drawer pointing it down.
Select the account's Sent mailbox and at the menu bar, go to Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For and select Sent.
If you deselect store Sent messages on the server for the account preferences, the account's Sent mailbox will be available under Sent in the mailboxes drawer and you can't use "Use This Mailbox For" for mailboxes stored locally on the hard drive. It can only be used for .Mac or IMAP type account mailboxes that are stored on the server.

Real Instruments Tracks Not Playing

In one of my songs, the real instruments do not play. However, I can hear the reverb and echo for these tracks. The tracks still respond to editing. The drum loop and Software Piano play just fine.
Last night, all tracks worked properly, even after deleting a real instrument track. I saved and shut down for the night.
After booting up today, the remaining real instrument tracks have only very minimal volume; really, just a faint whisper. Track info remains the same and I can see some real instrument track monitor activity, but that's about it for the real instruments.
In response to some earlier advice, I created a new Real Instrument and/or a Software Track and see if they are soloed. Nothing, no "hidden" soloed Track.
The real instrument tracks remain silent, though fully editable.
Any assistance would be great.

I went into the master track to see what's going on.
Ducking option was not highlighted, so I clicked on it just to see what would happen. It unlocked all locked tracks, but not the real instruments for some reason. Then, I removed Ducking option.
All real instruments have returned. Problem resolved.
It was something to do with Ducking.
Each day I learn something new. Life is good.

I am trying to continuously switch images on the VI, but it freezes when I try to access an oscilloscope through its instrument driver.

I am drawing 2 different colored rectangles contiuously on the screen using a while loop. I try to get information from an oscilloscope while this is switching, but the loop stops while the instrument driver aquires the measurement. The oscilliscope value depends on the switching of the rectangles, so I need them to occur simultaneously.

First you should have the two operations in different loops so one doe snot stop and wait for the other.
This should get you closer to what you are asking if you are not doing this already.
Next, look at the code you are using to get at the scope. If it opens/reads/closes, you can sped things up by opening once, repeatedly reading and only close at the end.
If you have covered all of the above, then provide more info (i.e. post code) So we can be of further assistance.
FWI There was a version of VISA that code "Lock-up the CPU" when doing reads. Are using VISA and do you have the latest version?
