Interactive reporting CreateLimit function

Im using Interactive reproting 11.1.2.3.
In the dashboard section for updating the values for the dropdown list boxes, im reading values from result section and add. Out of 10 dropdown boxes only one was not working.
The code i used was
function createlim(limitfieldname)
var selectedObject = ActiveSection.Shapes[objectName];//defining dropdown box
var resultsSection =ActiveDocument.Sections[resultsSectionName];//defining resultset
selectedObject.RemoveAll();
var newLimit = resultsSection.Limits.CreateLimit(limitFieldName);
newLimit.RefreshAvailableValues();
While creating it throws error Limit cannt be created. The column used from the result section is a computed item contains NVL function.  but for other fields it is working.
Please suggest what is wrong.
Thanks

    Is it possible to have a button when click would filter the last month of whatever the current date is. (Without making a 2nd interactive report)

    Hi,
    I went quickly over this:
    http://anthonyrayner.blogspot.com/2008/07/dynamic-date-filtering-in-interactive.html
    This should help. it shows you how to prepare the URL of the wanted report. and you can choose button action Redirect to URL.
    There is more ... give me one minute :)
    Ok.. This is what you need:

  • Set default search column in Interactive Report

    Hi All:
    In APEX 4.0, for "Interactive Report" search function:
    If user doesn't select a column name to search for (this is done by click Magnifier glass icon), the IR will search "All Columns" that contains a string you have typed in the search bar.
    Is there a way to configure IR so that, by default, it will not search "All Columns", instead, it should search a particular column that I will specify when define this IR report.
    Why I am asking this? Here is my case:
    I have created a IR report to search employee information. By default, when user enters a string in the search bar, user want to search "Emploee Full Name" column in my IR report. User wants this default search behavior and really doesn't want to "click Magnifier glass icon and select "Employee Full Name" column; then type the search string).
    Basically, in my case, the IR report should default to search "Employee Full Name" if user doesn't select any search column.
    Any idea how to achieve this?
    Thanks!
    Kevin

    In the above DA, Changing the 'Event Scope' to 'Dynamic' should trigger it after PPR. I tried it but it's not working for me.
    Try the below it's working for me as expected,
    Create DA like below,
    Event: After Refresh
    Selection Type: Region
    Region: Select your IR region
    In True Action,
    Action: Execute Javascript Code
    Code:
    $s('apexir_SEARCH_COLUMN_DROP','COLUMN_LABEL');
    $s('apexir_CURRENT_SEARCH_COLUMN', 'COLUMN_ALIAS');
    In Affected Element,
    Selection Type: Region
    Region: Select your IR region
    Event Scope: bind (Default)
    Make sure Fire On Page Load under 'Execution Option' is checked. (i.e. Fire On Page Load: Yes)
    I am using APEX 4.0.2.00.07. It's working for me also in apex.oracle.come it's working in my example application.
    Thanks

  • Interactive reports - save option question

    just a quick one -
    im developing an application in the APEX 3.1 with an interactive report, standard functionality allows users to save there report view (but not the default view) as i understand.
    However are these saved views public or private to the user who created them? also is there functionality or a work around to make them private?
    Regards - Solomon Hill

    Hello,
    The saved views are for that user. You can easily test it by logging in with one user and in another browser with another user. Is that the way you want it to behave?

  • Interactive report from PL/SQL function

    Hello All,
    i have a pl/sql function that dynamically builds up a sql query and returns it as a varchar2.
    when i create a new report then i can use this function in the report like
    return f_function(param1,param2,v('APP_ID'), v('APP_SESSION'));
    and this works fine.
    Except i cannot create an interactive report for this function, because it is not allowed !!!!
    So how can i use the function in an interactive report ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marco

    Marco,
    Another rather extreme approach would be to go all the way and make your function pipelined (that is not only build but also execute the query) and then select from it in your interactive report.
    The disadvantage here would be that any supplementary filtering would act on the result set of the function (not as an addition to the where clause of the original query). But if you can live with that...
    The advantage would be that there's less fiddling with column headers.

    Iulian

  • Interactive Report with PL/SQL Function Source

    Is it possible to create interactive report with PL/SQL function source returing a query? If not, has anyone done any work to simulate the interactive reporting feature for a normal report using API?

    I haven't tried that before but you could:
    1. create a collection from your result set returned by a dynamic query,
    2. create a view on that collection,
    3. use the view in your interactive report.
    The usability of this proposal depends from a question how "dynamic" your query is - does it always have the same number of columns or not.

  • Compute function on interactive report

    Hi Every 1,
    I need some help with an interactive report i am trying to produce. What i am trying to do is use to compute function of an interactive report and add the actual count from a week (e.g. week 26) and add it to the forecast count of that week
    The problem that i have is that they are on different rows
    The table below shows that i am working with.
    Week No|Forecast Count|Actual Count*
    ____26__|_______0______|___128231____
    ____26__|____180916____|______0______
    ____27__|_______0______|___164666____
    ____27__|____180916____|______0______
    ____28__|_______0______|___169302____
    ____28__|____180916____|______0______
    ____29__|_______0______|___159857____
    ____29__|____180916____|______0______
    ____30__|_______0______|___162210____
    ____30__|____180916____|______0______
    ____31__|_______0______|___152471____
    ____31__|____180916____|______0______
    Any help would be welcome :)
    Thanks in advance
    -N.S.N.O.

    Is that the only way that this could be done?
    I have tried to get the values on the same row but it has proved very very difficult.
    The query i use to get the data is this:
    select ROUND(TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(rpad(con_add_td_hr, 10),'yyyy-mm-dd'),'ddd')-2)/7)+1 "Week No", 0, sum(cons_total) "Actual Count"
    from corcon01_hour_totals
    where db_name='CSAHEPA' and substr(con_add_td_hr,1,4)='2008' and CON_ADD_USER_ID not like '%LDL%'
    group by ROUND(TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(rpad(con_add_td_hr, 10),'yyyy-mm-dd'),'ddd')-2)/7)+1
    UNION
    select week_no, sum(manual_entry_cons)+sum(citedi_cons)"Forecast Data", 0
    from concount_forecast_data
    where db_name ='CSAHEPA' and year ='2008'
    group by week_no
    The problem that i have is that the 2 tables are not relate and do not have a matching table structure. For the actual count table i have to generate the week number using a data/hour column.
    If you have any suggestions i would be very grateful.
    Thanks

  • Interactive Report using a View with a Pipelined Function

    Hello fellow Apex people,
    I'm Using Application Express 4.1.0.00.32
    I've got an interactive report that references a view (STOCK) and a pipelined function
    The basic query is listed below.
    SELECT S.CHANGED_TIME "Changed Time"
    , S.CHANGED_BY "Changed By"
    , S.ID "Id"
    , STKST_DESCRS.STOCK_STATUS_CODES "Stock Status Codes"
    , STKST_DESCRS.STOCK_STATUS_DESCRS "Stock Status"
    , S.ORIGINAL_CONTAINER "Original Container"
    FROM STOCK S
    , table(LWS_StkstStatus (S.ID)) STKST_DESCRS
    ORDER BY S.CO_ID,
    S.SEQUENCE_NUM;
    When the page is first run all the data is displayed correctly,
    If I define a filter, sort or a blank search the data from the pipelined function (STKST_DESCRS.) becomes null and isn't displayed.
    Does anyone know what is happening?
    Many Thanks

    I'm curious why you find this dangerous. I want a report that looks like this:
    Opportunity X:
    4 - 2-apr-2008 - Closed deal
    3 - 1-mar-2008 - Called Joe again
    2 - 12-feb-2008 - Called Joe
    1 - 14-jan-2008 - Initial call with customer.
    When you enter a new note, I want it to be numbered 5. The only problem I can imagine is someone deleting a note, which will almost never happen, and if it does, it just leaves a numbering gap. I don't see how using the function in a SELECT will accomplish this.

  • Interactive report on view based on pipelined table function.

    Hi,
    I want to build an Interactive Report on a view.
    The view definition contains a select on a pipelined table function. I use context functionality to pass paramaters to the pipelined table function.
    A plain select * from #my_view# in SqlPlus results in 121 different rows.
    However, If I base my Interactive report on this view, I get 15 repeated rows (all the same).
    Is it possible to use pipelined table functionality on an Interactive report? I can't seem to get it working.
    If I use the following approach (http://rakeshjsr.blogspot.nl/2010/10/oracle-apex-interactive-report-based-on.html) I do get results, but I can't use this solution for a reason that's not relevant.

    Hello,
    Is it possible to use pipelined table functionality on an Interactive report? I can't seem to get it working. I have used it in one instance and it works fine. However I was passing the values to pipe-lined function directly.
    IR Query..
    SELECT * FROM TABLE(fn_pipeline(:P1_ITEM_NAME))Call pipe-lined function from IR query directly (instead of using view)
    Try sending values to Pipe-lined function directly. In-case if the problem is with setting and getting values from the context?

  • Hide/show functionality of a column in  interactive report

    Hi ,
    Is it possible to remove the hide functionality from a single column in an interactive report ?
    I have an interactive report with the first column being a check box. On the column name I have added the toggle checkall/uncheck all functionality.Now when the user clicks on the check all, the hide column option shows up.
    I do not want the users to be able to hide this column.I was able to remove the sort/filter/control break/aggregate/compute chart
    from unchecking each of these from the report attributes of the column.However I could not figure out how to remove the hide column popup that shows up when you click on the checkbox column name.
    Appreciate any response ...
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I believe you will want to add a height specification to allow for multiple lines.  And you may want/need to specifiy how you want lines to wrap.
    Add (for example):
      height: 60px;
      white-space: nowrap;
      word-wrap: break-word;
    There are defaults and several options for white-space and word-wrap.  You may want to look them up and give them a try for comparison.

    You can find out for yourself by requesting a workspace on apex.oracle.com, which always runs the latest production release.
    Could you please tell me
    is the limitation for interactive report "group by" action increased?  (3 columns max for my 4.2 version)
    No. Patch releases like 4.2.3 are never likely to include significant changes in functionality. They only provide bug fixes.
    I consider this is a major drawback...
    Interactive reports follow the 80/20 rule. They satisfy 80% of the requirements of 80% of users 80% of the time. If your requirements fall into any of the remaining 20% categories then you have to build something yourself. APEX is a development tool after all...

  • SQL statement with Function returns slow in Interactive Report

    I have an Interactive Report that returns well but when I add in a function call in the where clause that does nothing but return a hard coded string of primary keys and is compared to a table's primary key with a like operator the performance tanks. Here is the example:
    get_school2_section(Y.pk_id,M.pk_id,I.section,:P577_SECTION_SHUTTLE) LIKE '%:' || I.pk_id || ':%'
    I have the values hard coded in the return of the function. There are no cursors run in the function, there is no processing done in the function. It only declares a variable. Sets the variable, and returns that variable back to the SQL statement.
    I can hard code the where clause value to look like this:
    ':90D8D830A877CCFFE040010A347D1A50:8ED0BBFDEAACC629E040010A347D6471:9800B8FDBD22B761E040010A347D0D9A:' LIKE '%:' || I.pk_id || ':%'
    This returns fast. When I add in the function call which returns the same hard coded values, the page goes from returning in 1 to 2 seconds to 45 or more seconds.
    Why does adding a simple function call into the where clause cause such a deterioration in performance.

    So you are telling me that the where clause with a function call will NOT run the function on every row? Please explain that to me further?
    if you have code that is the following:
    select a,b,c from a_table where a > 2 and b < 3 and function_call(c) > 0You are telling me that Oracle will NOT call that function on EVERY row it tries to process in the select?

  • PL/SQL Interactive Report issues - Piped function or Collections

    Hi,
    I have a report where I either want to limit the return by date or return all. PL/SQL didn't work in the Interactive Report (is it available in 3.2?) then my second idea (2 reports; one for each option) didn't work as you can't have more than one IR on a page. Searching here I found people guiding others to here for collections and here for piped functions.
    Ok I finally understood the collections thing (didn't realise that "function_returning_query" would be replaced with your code) but I'm not sure it can be used in my situation? I want it to be dependent upon a LOV on the page with my predicted code like:DECLARE
    q VARCHAR2(30000);
    BEGIN
    q := 'select UPD_ID, PROJECT,DATABASE,REF,DESCRIP,STATUS,PERSON,
    TO_CHAR(INS_DATE, ''HH24:MI DD-MON-YY'') AS INS_DATE
    from TBL_ENV_LOG';
    IF :P5_DAYS != 1337 THEN
    q := q || ' where TBL_ENV_LOG.INS_DATE >= TO_TIMESTAMP(SYSDATE - :P5_DAYS)';
    END IF;
    q := q || ' order by TBL_ENV_LOG.INS_DATE desc';
    return(q);
    END;So the value of :P5_DAYS would need to go there somehow, can it be passed as a parameter?
    Is there another way to do this? Making lots of hidden fields is annoying :/
    Edit: I used a CASE statement for a column before, could I use that for entire queries?

  • Interactive report and SQL including a function

    Hi,
    I created an interactive report based on a simple sql statement, all OK. I added a function based column and get this error:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    whenever I put a criteria in the search field large than one character long. It works with a single character search parameters but not more than one.
    The sql:
    select sc."SUPC_ID",
    sc."SUPERCODE",
    sc."NAME",
    get_unit_codes(sc.supercode) units --this is the beastie here
    from "#OWNER#"."SUPERCODES" sc
    Any ideas, can I exclude the function based column from the search parameters somehow. I un-checked the 'Sort, Filter, Control Break, Aggregate, Computer and Chart options for that column
    Thanks
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
    Assuming that your get_unit_codes() function just returns a string and the entire statement works ok in SQL, you could try creating a view over the same statement and base the report on the view or nest your statement:
    select SUPC_ID,
    SUPERCODE,
    NAME,
    UNITS
    FROM (select sc."SUPC_ID",
    sc."SUPERCODE",
    sc."NAME",
    get_unit_codes(sc.supercode) units --this is the beastie here
    from "#OWNER#"."SUPERCODES" sc)Andy

  • How to call function in INteractive Report!!

    Hi All,
    After investing on interactive report i have came to know that we can have only sql query but not Dynamic Sql query!
    By using PIPELINED FUNCTIONS we can use dynamic sql in Apex Interactive Reports.
    Here is the url for refernece- http://sungur.wordpress.com/2009/10/11/apex-interactive-reports-with-dynamic-sql/
    When i had tried to implement the the above one it is throwing error as
    Query cannot be parsed, please check the syntax of your query. (ORA-06575: Package or function GET_TABLE_ROWS2 is in an invalid state)
    Can any one help me out how to overcome the scenerio and resolve the problem?
    Since it is urgent can any one help me out to resolve it.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Anoo..

    Hi Anoo,
    Step 4:
    Create a process that will populate the heading page items with the relevant column name values from the dynamic query. This can be done by splitting the select line using the commas and extracting the dynamic column headers.This is Nothing But in Interactive report the column name is taking as a heading for every column, Otherwise we can go to change the column heading in report attributes(STEP 3).
    What they said we can try to change the column head dynamically.
    Like Ex:
    Select ename "Employee Name" from emp;The above Example we are taking ename but it displayed as Employee Name.
    I tried that but its taking 50 columns cant write that much of query.
    Now you got it?
    Cheers,
    Shan..
