Internationalization in Hindi

Hi Folks,
Does anyone have a working Internationalization in Hindi example? I would appreciate if you could provide me one or some idean? thanks.

Hindi is supported by Unicode. UTF-8 should support Hindi. Any application supporting UTF-8 should support Hindi language, mostly.
If this does not answer your question, may be you can add more specifications to your question.

  • How to use Hindi as internationalization in JSF

could you pls help in this topic

Just the same way as you do in JSP. Since JSF 1.2 you can use unified EL #{ } in c:forEach.
You can also use Tomahawk's [t:dataList|http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk-project/tomahawk12/tagdoc/t_dataList.html] by the way. It is more efficient.

  • Portal Content in Hindi ???

    Hi All,
Please let me know if anyone has got a chance to display portal content in HINDI.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sreeram

    Hi,
I think we can display in webdynpro using internationalization.  But portal will not automatically recognize the hindi script. You have to manually do that.
Check in SDN about internationalization in webdynpro.

  • Hindi characters' display in swing components on macintosh

I have created a swing application that handles devanagari script.(script for Hindi language). The application works perfectly in windows but in apple macintosh
there is a problem with the reordering of characters in text componets. Reordering means some characters needs to be displayed not in the exact order in which they are stored.I was wondering how this can happen as the application works fine on windows. Also other applications like text editor displays devanagari script correctly on macintosh.
I tried with several fonts like Arial Unicode MS,Devanagari MT etc/.java

Try the method setFont(java.awt.Font f) of the class java.awt.Container (which java.applet.Applet extends) with suitable fonts. This doesn't work for 1.1. Only logical fonts name are allowed here.
You need either to edit font.properties file for corresponding logical font or for MS JVM use com.ms.awt.FontX (get it using Java reflections if you don't have MS SDK) as described at http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2001/04/12/internationalization.html?page=1

  • Code to display  hindi fonts in JComboBox in a JFrame

    Hi friends,
My mail id is [email protected] and please give response as soon as possible.
My problem:In java,my Jcombobox contents is displaying only english fonts like arial or verdena or timesnewroman
    My requirement:
I want source code or logic to display the contents in a JComboBox with hindi fonts or any other international language.
That means,by choosing the language font my Jcombobox contents should be changed to that corresponding language dynamically.
Note: I have used java internationalization with locale classes, but it is not working. please help me

You might try giving the file a ".txt" extension. Then drag it on top of your Safari icon in the dock, which should open it with Safari. Then, under "View", select a Japanese "Text Encoding". My guess is that this is Shift-JIS.
I am assuming you have not removed Japanese fonts from your system.

  • Convert English fonts into hindi and tamil

My swing application consists of labels being displayed in english.
The application has four versions : Tamil ,Telugu,English and Hindi .
Since its an transaction software as like ATM , I just want to change the fonts alone .
I did go through the internationalization concept , But it rather needs a translation .
What other ways are there to implement other than maintaining a properties file..

So, is there a way to convert the font into vector patch using Adobe reader X pro?
Not possible with Adobe Reader and not possible with Adobe Acrobat.

  • How can i write properties file for Hindi font

    Hi All,
    i'm using jdev 11.1.1.5.0
in my use case i have worked on internationalization where i want to use hindi font
    like this link -
Majid Hussain: Internationalization of ADF 11.1.1.3 Applications
as in above post majid used german language and write properties file for german language(which is using english character).
but my problem is that i want to use hindi language
so how can i write propery file which support hindi font.
    Manish

    Hi Manish,
We also had same requirement where we need to show indian local language(Hindi ,Bengali and many more ).
We had implemented following approach and perhaps it will helpful for you.
1-First we changed the encoding value in jdeveloper.
go to jdeveloper --> tools --->preference-->encoding , select to UTF8
2-We used to get the properties and it's translated value from business and then we were manually put these pair into related resource bundle.
And using this we were able to implemented multilanguage support.
    Thanks

  • Store Hindi Characters

    Hi
I would like to store Hindi characters in my database. I am using oracle 9 and java 1.4.2. Can anybody help me as i dont know how ? Every time i save anything it is stored as a (upside down questionmarks). and is returned as a ? (sing question)

It depends on how much of data requires internationalization features. If the amount of hindi ( special charset ) data is more then, it makes sense to convert your database charset to UTF. If the amount of data is less, such as a few tables and few columns or maybe a schema, then you can use the NCHAR data type.
See this sample to learn how to use NCHAR datatype to retrieve and store special characters.

  • Can't view pages in Hindi

Hi, I'm unable to view pages in Hindi. I've looked for additional font packages but can't find them for Mac. I'm running OS 10.3.9, is that the problem?
My friends can see http://www.bbc.co.uk/hindi/ in hindi, but I just see weird characters.
Is there anything I can do about this?

Is there anything I can do about this?
Sure, you just need to add the font Devanagari MT. This is done by installing the AdditionalFonts.pkg which is found on the 3rd CD of a retail Panther set.

  • Displaying both Hindi and Arabic numerals in Oracle 10g PDF report

    Hi….
Oracle experts told us to ask “In how many ways we can do it in oracle?” instead of asking “Can we do it in Oracle?” , I need ONE way to solve the following problem, it toke to much time and I don’t know if it can be solved !
    The problem:
Can we print in - Oracle 10g reports - a PDF report with BOTH Hindi and Arabic numerals?
Well, at design time everything is fine, you can use right-to-left, left-to-right and the print preview is showing BOTH Hindi/Arabic numerals fine, but when I tried to produce it as a PDF, unfortunately its not, means its either all Hindi or all Arabic numerals !
I tried everything possible, environment variables: NLS_LANG, REPORTS_BIDI_ALGORITHM, and REPORTS_ARABIC_NUMERLS, setting Digit substitution to Context in windows regional settings, uifont.ali is modified properly according to metalink note, but nothing solved this issue!
I noticed something, when I used the DESTYPE=printer and DESNAME=PDF995 (one of the PDF printers) , it worked fine , means the problem could be in the generic PDF generator of the Oracle reports server,
But even with PDF995 you still need to feed the file name, which is not suitable for multi-user environment that need the report to be displayed via web browser.
    Does anybody face this before?

  • Is it possible to display the static numerals as Hindi?

Trying to generate a report using XML Publisher, the report composed of two columns.
Need to display the numerals in English language coulmn in Arabic numerals and the numerals in Arabic language column in Hindi numerals. Currently they both appear as Arabic numerals in both columns
    Question:
Is it possible to display the static numerals as Hindi as they had been
entred in the template or not?
I understood that on generation these should be variables not static.
I would welcome any input on this issue.
    Many thanks

    Hmm,
In templates i guess, you can use multiple font text ..
    same is the case here..
Arabic and hindi, are you using different font for these ?
if so, are these fonts available in server too ?
The test displayed can be static or dynamic, but if the server doesn't know which font to be applied, then its going to apply default font for the text.
At runtime, the server has to known, for this text which font has to be applied. if this has to happen, font has to be understood by server.

  • Applying Java's internationalization facilities to a web application

    Hello,
I am a member of a software developing team (using Java-based technologies). Our web application consists of a:
    1. static part (HTML-based pages), and
    2. a dynamic part (using JSPs and servlets, mainly)
The static part of our web site is currently supported in four languages, having our html pages replicated four times. On the other hand, the dynamic part of our web (that is, the part of our web site restricted to authorized
users only, using JSPs and servlets) is only supported in one of those languages and we are thinking of extending it to support, at least, one more of the other languages. Obviously, it wouldn't be manageable replicating the JSP
pages (about a hundred or so) for the new language, so we are thinking of using Java's internationalization facilities. According to what I have understood, we have two possibilities, basing the internationalization process on:
    a. properties files (one for each language?)
    b. class files
Knowing all this, our problem is a matter of organization of those approaches. How could I organize the different files? Should I use a database to store the messages, instead of using files (either properties files or class files)? Or might I create different files depending on where the string texts appear? For example, create a
properties file or a class file containing the different string messages in every JSP file? Any other ideas of organization or design would be highly appreciated. Do you know any other web site where internationalization has been applied or case studies dealing with this matter?
    Thanks in advance.

Whether that be list or property resource bundles, the code is already written to load and manage resource bundles in these formats. I have personally worked with database-backed resource bundles, but that required custom code to be written.
On a performance note, list resource bundles are found before property resource bundles. In a development environment, I've used property resource bundles and when moving an application into production, I have gone through the conversion of the property to list resource bundle format. There's a utility in our book, "Java Internationalization" (O'Reilly) which does conversion from property to list resource bundle format for you.

dealing with this matter? Also in our book, we advocate using different resource bundles for holding different types of localized data. For example, there's nothing that says you cannot have resource bundles devoted to user exception messages, status messages, regular text, prompt text, etc... By splitting up your resources into different categories and placing them in an appropriately named resource bundle, you can know exactly where certain resources will be pulled from when your application is running.
