Apple maps has received a poor performance rating just after introduction of the iPhone 5. I am running Google Maps app on the phone. SIRI cannot seem to get me to a specific address. Where does the problem lie? Also can anyone tell me the hierarchy of use between the Apple Maps, SIRI, and Google maps when the app is on the phone? How do you choose one over the other as the default map usage? Or better still how do you suppress SIRI from using the Apple maps app when requesting a "go to"?
I have placed an address location into the CONTACTS list and when I ask SIRI to "take me there" it found a TOTALLY different location in the metro area with the same street name. I have included the address, the quadrant, (NE) and the ZIP code into the CONTACTS list. As it turns out, no amount of canceling the trip or relocating the address in the CONTACTS list line would prevent SIRI from taking me to this bogus location. FINALLY I typed in Northeast for NE in the CONTACTS list (NE being the accepted method of defining the USPS location quadrant) , canceled the current map route and it finally found the correct address. This problem would normally not demand such a response from me to have it fixed but the address is one of a hospital in the center of town and this hospital HAS a branch location in a similar part of town (NOT the original address SIRI was trying to take me to). This screw up could be dangerous if not catastrophic to someone who was looking for a hospital location fast and did not know of these two similar locations. After all the whole POINT of directions is not just whimsical pasttime or convenience. In a pinch people need to rely on this function. OR, are my expectations set too high?
How does the iPhone select between one app or the other (Apple Maps or Gppgle Maps) as it relates to SIRI finding and showing a map route?
Why does SIRI return an address that is NOT the correct address nor is the returned location in the requested ZIP code?
Is there a known bug in the CONTACTS list that demands the USPS quadrant ID be spelled out, as opposed to abreviated, to permit SIRI to do its routing?
Thanks for any clarification on these matters.

siri will only use apple maps, this cannot be changed. you could try google voice in the google app.

  • Tutorials on the Developer Toolbox?

Are there some useful tutorials on the Developer Toolbox?
I need to do two things.
1: Insert the data into the database, upload the image into the database.
2: Email the data and the image.
    Cheers

Hi and welcome to the ADDT forums !
1: Insert the data into the database, upload the image into the database
ADDT provides an "Upload and resize images" behaviour
(resizing is optionally of course) that´s associated with an insert or update transaction -- you´ll basically just need to provide a file field in your insert/update form and attach this behaviour to it. However, images are not stored "into the database" as BLOB, but are stored within the server´s file system.
More information on this server behaviour is available in the ADDT help :: open the Control Panel and click the Help button. The related chapter is "Image manipulation : upload and resize images"
2: Email the data and the image
ADDT provides an "Send Email" behaviour
(in several flavors BTW) which also allows attaching the file(name) that´s stored in a recordset.
More information on this server behaviour is available in the ADDT help as well -- the related chapter is "Send Mail : Send E-Mail"

  • How can I use the instrument toolbox in MATLAB 6.1 to contol the PCI-GPIB card under Linux?

I'm trying to use the PCI-GPIB controller to control lab equipment through MATLAB 6.1 (R12.1) under Linux. MATLAB's instrument toolbox seems to integrate with NI's board, but the MATLAB documentation says it requires the installation of a driver. I've downloaded the linux gpib driver, and I'm able to run the associated utilities (ibconf, ibic, ibsta), but MATLAB cannot interface to it. For example,
    >> g=gpib('ni',0,1)
    ??? Error using ==> gpib/gpib
The specified VENDOR adaptor could not be found.
Where can I find a MATLAB driver and how can I install it?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hello-
The knowledge base: "Can Matlab for Windows Call the National Instruments GPIB Driver?" Also applies to this question as well. This article is very extensive. Try searching on ni.com for "+matlab +gpib" for more details.

Can anyone give a short introduction how i can use this step type ?
at first, i set a frequency and the following step should appraise these frequency by the scope.

  • How can you simple install the LabVIEW Toolboxes with LabVIEW 7.1

Hello, yesterday was a nice day, I have receved the NI Developer Suite Professional Control Edition with the new LabVIEW 7.1, RT 7.1, DSC 7.1 etc.
I still use Labview 7.0 (Developer Suite Professional Control Edition)
Unfortunately I can't install the Toolboxes from the toolbox cd into the right directory!
Always when I try to install a toolbox, it will be installed into the LabVIEW 7.0 directory. It is not possible to change the directory (exeption: SPC-Toolbox) Even if you change the name of your LabVIEW 7.0 Directory, the toolbox produce a new folder LabVIEW 7.0 and is getting instaled into this directory!!
So please dear LabVIEW Developper think a bit more, when you release new software the nex
    t time...
I know, there are always work around's but nobody does realy like them...

Something is wrong about the registry keys of LabVIEW on your machine. Specifically the path string under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\LabVIEW\7.1" should point to the LabVIEW 7.1 directory on your machine.
On VIAnalyzer and Report Gen Toolkit, when you install them, pick LabVIEW 7.1 directory on "Destination Folder" dialog. See attached screenshot. That should install it in proper location.

  • Is the ASU Toolbox important for support package implementation?

    Dear all,
when I want to implement new support packages there comes the hint with number 1000009 (ASU Toolbox).
Is it important to implement the toolbox or is it optional?

    Hi,
    It’s not necessary!!
SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) enables you to implement cross-system processes. It enables you to connect systems from different vendors (non-SAP and SAP) in different versions and implemented in different programming languages (Java, ABAP, and so on) to each other. SAP Exchange Infrastructure is based on an open architecture, uses open standards (in particular those from the XML and Java environments) and offers those services that are essential in a heterogeneous and complex system landscape.
With regard to POS lot of domestic softwares are avilable other than Triversity.
The SAP for Retail solution portfolio includes customer-centric solutions from SAP Triversity, an SAP company. The applications from SAP Triversity focus on the "sell" side of retailing. They enable retailers to deliver a best-in-class customer experience across all channels, while helping them to optimize their operating efficiencies and increase profitability.
You can integrate thirdparty POS system to SAP.

  • A brief introductions to the intricacies of Archlinux

_JeffG_ 's post gave me an idea to start this... i know the developers are busy, so I figured we could start a thread here with the intricasies of how ArchLinux is set up. For example; I've spont a lot of time in /etc/ so here's what I've found out:
    /etc/pacman.conf
    Repositories
This is the configuration file for pacman. the package manager for achlinux.
As per default you can only access packages in the 'official' repository.  To gain access to the multitude of packages available in the unofficial repository look around line 48, there will be a section that looks like:
    # Uncomment this block to access the 'unofficial' package set
    [unofficial]
    #Server = ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/archlinux/unofficial
    #Server = ftp://ftp.webtrek.com/pub/mirrors/archlinux/unofficial
    #Server = ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/unofficial
    #Server = ftp://ftp.mpi-sb.mpg.de/pub/linux/mirror/ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/archlinux/unofficial
    #Server = ftp://ftp.oit.unc.edu/pub/Linux/distributions/archlinux/unofficial
    #Server = ftp://ftp.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/linux/sunsite.unc-mirror/distributions/archlinux/unofficial
    #Server = ftp://ftp.parrswood.net/Mirrors/ftp.archlinux.org/unofficial
    #Server = ftp://gd.tuwien.ac.at/opsys/linux/archlinux/unofficial
    #Server = ftp://saule.mintis.lt/pub/linux/unofficial
    #Server = ftp://ftp.rez-gif.supelec.fr/pub/Linux/distrib/archlinux/unofficial
Uncomment (remove the # marks) that section to gain access to the unofficial repository.
Note: there are also 'stable' and 'unstable' repositories as well, read the short documentation in the file for information on those.
Also Note: User-created packages are available at ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/incoming/.  It is common practice to post here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewforum.php?f=25 when a new package is submitted.
    Options
At the beginning of the /etc/pacman.conf file is the options section, which by default looks like:
    # GENERAL OPTIONS
    [options]
    NoUpgrade = etc/passwd etc/group etc/shadow
    NoUpgrade = etc/fstab etc/rc.conf etc/rc.local
    NoUpgrade = etc/lilo.conf etc/raidtab
    #IgnorePkg = lilo gcc
It is in this section we can setup a few more options for pacman.  Here is a list of currenty available options:
      DBPath = /path/to/db/dir
Overrides the default location of the toplevel  database  direc-tory.  The default is /var/lib/pacman.
       IgnorePkg = <package> [package] ...
Instructs  pacman  to  ignore any upgrades for this package when performing a --sysupgrade.
       NoPassiveFtp
Disables passive ftp connections when downloading packages. (aka Active Mode)
       NoUpgrade = <file> [file] ...
All  files  listed  with  a  NoUpgrade  directive  will never be touched during a package install/upgrade.  Note: do not  include the leading slash when specifying files.
NoUpgrade is what you would use for system critical config files and whatnot.
How pacman deals with config files
This is my understanding from experience (and the manpage) with how pacman will handle config files under different cases.
    1) Removing a package
Pacman creates a backup of the config file with a .pacsave extension.  For example, when i installed metalog and removed syslog, pacman moved /etc/syslog.conf to /etc/syslog.conf.pacsave
    2) Upgrading a package (heres the tricky part)
pacman uses creates three md5sums to figure out what to do.
md5sum #1 = original config file in the original package installed before the upgrade
md5sum #2 = current config file thats actually in use by the system
md5sum #3 = new config file with the updated package that is not yet installed
if original == current == new (e.g. all files are the same) then the new one is isntalled
if (original == current) != new (e.g. original config was not changed, but the new one is different) then install the new one, for it might have new features, bugfixes, etc.
if (original == new) != current (e.g. the default config file has not changed between the original and new packages, but the user has modified their config) then do nothing (to preserve the users settings)
if (original != current) && (current != new) && (original != new)   (e.g. all config files are  different) then create a .pacsave of the current and install the new one
That's all i have to say for tonight.  Maybe tomorrow I'll write something about understanding the startup scripts.

    allright... maybe im not done
How to set up the correct timezone
Allright, I like my computer in UTC (even though im in EST/EDT) but some people don't like having to deal with offsets, so here's how to fix it.
    1st step:
determine what time your hardware clock is.
easiest method to do this is enter your bios setup and look at the time displayed.  If it's the same as your local time, remember that.  If it isn't figure out if it's UTC from your UTC offset, for instance EST is UTC -500... (EDT is -400... daylight savings).   If that isn't possible, or it's incorrect, just set the clock to your local time.
    2nd step:
    edit /etc/rc.conf on line 12
this lets the system know how your hardware clock is set up enter "UTC" or "localtime" as per the results of step one
    move to line 11
    now you choose your timezone
look in /usr/share/zoneinfo/ for your timezone
when setting this i prefer to use the subdir system: e.g. EST/EDT is America/New_York, etc
remember what you finally decided on
    3rd step
make a symlink from /etc/localtime to the zonefile you chose in step 2

  • How do you copy/move the ASU Toolbox task list from one system to another

We are upgrading from 3.5 to 7.01 and have maintained the the task list in /n/asu/upgrade in our sandbox.   I would like to be able to move the task list to our other systems so I don't have to reenter the tasks again.  I know the base tasks are in an xml file but I don't know which one.
Does anyone know how to move/copy the tasks from one system to another?

I agree with Antonio, but since we don't know if the Mail app on the Mini is the same version as the one on your new iMac, I'd err on the side of caution and allow Mail on the new iMac to set up; additionally, I'd prefer to start with a new preference file. In order to make it easier, you could take screenshots of all the account windows on the Mini. You can then use those to enter the info when setting up Mail on the new iMac.
After Mail is set up, quit Mail. Go to the location outlined by Antonio (Users-Library-Mail) and compare the folders with the folders from the old Mail app; i.e. the new Inbox folder should be empty -> remove that (drag to trash) and replace it with your old Inbox folder (same with Sent, etc). If you have old folders not found in the new location, add them.
When done, open Mail and your folders and emails should all be there.

Interesting. One of my cars I just have a portable Motoroal speaker which I don't have any option to answer from the speaker. My other car has the internal blue tooth which works this way - with all my other phones if a call came in it would be ringing directly from the speakers and I would press the phone button on my dash and it would answer. With the iPhone it does not as much as even ring through the speakers so I just assumed I had to answer through the phone itself. I did end up calling Apple support and after it got escalted to a few people they came back to me this morning and told me that is the way the iPhone is - you have to answer the call through your and then route it to your speaker. If so then they would be wrong because it apparently works for you? For the life of me I can't see how this phone could possibly force you to manually answer calls on the phone in your car and then press a couple buttons to route it. II would love to hear from more people, but apparently not many looking at this post use blue tooth in their car.

  • Grid design element to cover page using circle objects and the align toolbox.

    Hi all,
I'm currently working through a tutorial in which I need to cover the entire page with a grid of evenly spaced small circles. The tutorial tells me to copy and paste the initial circle then align left and vertical, and repeat for horizontal. However what I'm left with are just two rows of circles, one down the far left and one across the top of the page.
What is the best way of covering the entire page with these circles so that they are identical and evenly spaced across the page?
    Thank you!!

If i understand correctly, how a bout Edit>step and repeat and turn on create as a grid

  • HP Device Toolbox software Error Unable to connect to the printer

    Hi guys,
I'm currently in bit of a nightmare with my HP Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw.
Basically I have upgraded to a new wireless router and since doing this my HP Laser Jet refuses to work / connect to the wireless network.
I have literally tried just about evey thing I can to get it to work, thoroughly through the manual, uninstalled and reinstalled the software about 12 times, tried firewalls on and off, tried security on the router on and off, tried WPS mode, tried manually entering in the IP address into the printer all without luck. You can see my dedicated thread here
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/HP-LaserJet-Pro-100-color-MFP-M175nw-un...
So currently I have the printer connect to the computer via USB and it works, so I decided to try using the HP Device toolbox software  to see if it would give me any more options to try and when I run this software I get
Error: Unable to connect to the printer, make sure your printer is properly connected and powered on and then try to open the HP device toolbox again. Arg!!!
My new router is a Billion 7800DXL, my old router which worked in wireless mode was also a Billion 7300g.
Any help would be great really stuck here

    Hello tf22raptor.
I see that you're now experiencing an issue getting the Device Tool box to run. I will try and assist with this.
After reviewing this post and the other thread, I have a few things you can try.
    1) Run MS Fix it utility to uninstall the software: Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled.
(This is to make sure the software is completely removed and conflicts in the registry get resolved)
2)Msconfig: press windows key and R on the keyboard> in run box type "msconfig"> on window select "services tab"> check box next to "hide all MS services> press disable all> go to "startup" tab> press disable all> press apply and ok at the bottom> this should prompt a PC restart.
    Please restart.
    3) Re-install via USB
    4) Try running the device toolbox now
5)If still having issues installing wireless, you may have to contact the router manufacture.
I hope this helps you out. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.
I worked on behalf of HP.
