Invalid database handle

hi,
i am trying to set up coldfusion on localhost since the
development server went bonkers. i wasn't the one who set up the
dev server though i'm not sure what this error means. i get this
Error Executing Database Query.
[Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC
Socket][Oracle][ODBC][Rdb]%RDB-F-BAD_DB_HANDLE, invalid database
handle
i tested all the connections in the Administrator Panel and
they work just fine.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong

Can you please provide some more details stepwise about what
you have done from the start?
Also the DB version and other details.
If you can paste your code here that would be great !
Thanks

    I am having a similar problem. My method:
    protected void searchQuestions(String keyword) throws LibraryException {
    XmlQueryContext xqc = null;
    XmlResults xr = null;
    XmlQueryExpression xqe = null;
    String[] qids = null;
    String query = "collection()/*[contains(question, '" + keyword + "')]";
    try {
    conQuestions = man.openContainer(QUESTION_CONTAINER);
    xqc = man.createQueryContext();
    xqc.setDefaultCollection(QUESTION_CONTAINER);
    xqe = man.prepare(query, xqc);
    xr = xqe.execute(xqc);
    conQuestions.delete();
    xqc.delete();
    xqe.delete();
    XmlValue val = xr.next();
    while (val != null) {
    String name = val.asDocument().getName();
    System.out.println(name);
    val = xr.next();
    val.delete(); <-- PROBLEM HERE
    xr.delete();
    } catch (XmlException xe) {
    throw new LibraryException("Unable to search for questions. " + xe.getMessage());
    If I leave the val.delete() line then I get a java.lang.NullPointerException but if I remove it then I get an error stating 'Database handles still open at environment close'. I run a clean up method after the previous method as follows:
    protected void close() {
    if(conQuizes != null)
    conQuizes.delete();
    if(conQuestions != null)
    conQuestions.delete();
    if(conUsers != null)
    conUsers.delete();
    if(man != null)
    man.delete();
    I have many other methods that interact with containers perfectly but this is the only one where I use the XmlValue class. I tried the solution that worked for brais.mendez with no luck. Any advise or ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Invalid OCI handle when creating a Blob

    I have an application that talks to an Oracle 11gR2 database. I am using the OCCI C++ library. I can call SPs with no problem when they do not contain a Blob. Now I need to pass in a Blob to a SP and I am getting an ORA-32102: invalid OCI handle exception thrown when I call blob->open(OCCI_LOB_WRITEONLY). This same style of code works when I call a SP that does not have a Blob parameter so naturally I am confused. What could be wrong with this?

    Update, I found the answer which is streams must be used. The setBinaryStreamMode is used and after executeUpdate, I update the stream.

    Could be privs on OS or database level. Check and see what happens if grant yourself the DBA role. Check if the database software owner (ps -ef | grep pmon) is allowed to write in that directory and/or create a file in that directory. Does the OS make use of ACL's (and/or is, for instance Secure, Linux used)....?

    Hi,
    The error is because either the primary database or the secondary database is configured as read only and the callback to create the secondary keys is null. A quick glance of the code, it appears as if you did not set up the secondary database correctly. In the Getting Started Guide for JAVA API chap 10, we have detailed information on what needs to be done as well as a code example. Please refer to http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/gsg/JAVA/index.html and look for Chap 10.

    I want to use a Database Handle (already created in TestStand by an Open Database step) in a LabVIEW-VI (called from TestStand) to connect it with the "Connection Reference" input of the "Easy SQL.vi"? If I use a directly connection via the "TestStand - Get Property Value (Number).vi" I get back the error message 4101 in LabVIEW. How can I convert the Database Handle?

    The TestStand database step types use the CVI SQL Toolkit to talk to databases. The handle that you are referencing is an internal memory location and not a actual handle that you can directly use. Currently as implemented the handle that is stored in a numeric TestStand property for the connection and the SQL statement are the handle values returned from the CVI SQL Toolkit. So for the connection handle, you could call the CVI SQL Toolkit function
    DBGetConnectionAttribute (
    int Connection_Handle,
    tDBConnectionAttr Attribute,
    void *Value);
    and get the CVI CAObjHandle reference. With this you could then call the CVI ActiveX function
    CA_GetInterfaceFromObjHandle(
    CAObjHandle Object_Handle,
    const IID *Interface_Id,
    int Force_AddRef,
    void *Inte
    rface_Ptr,
    int *Did_AddRef);
    to get the actual ActiveX interface reference. This would have to be converted into a LabVIEW reference.
    You may want to consider just using LabVIEW to open a new parallel reference only using the toolkit.

  • Email attachment download shows "invalid menu handle"

    I click on an email attachment, the download box appears in top left corner and starts downloading then a rectangular box appears in middle of screen saying "invalid menu handle" and download won't open.

    Not the same thing. Google "Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility". The first hit will be what you need (on the Microsoft site).

  • Invalid File Handle Windows 7 with Novell Client 2 SP1

    Hello!
    I have a user on Windows who gets "invalid file handle" when saving files in
    WordPerfect and possibly Adobe as well. He thinks it mostly occurs when he
    has multiple files open and has saved one open file to a different
    directory. Then if he goes to save another file in it's same directory, he
    gets the error. I hope this makes sense. Would anyone have any idea if it
    does make sense?
    Thanks!

    Maybe that was once the intention by novell, but I assure you that you
    will have no trouble finding a lot of people/exemples that proves the
    opposite...
    Yeah, you can set the server-side settings which do have an impact,
    on win7 stations = blue screen if ON. But to say that it overrules the
    client setting....No way....
    We have had every single server EVER setup with Netware with
    filecaching OFF and OpLocks2 off and changing the client side setting
    DO make a direct difference, mostly bad but in the case of Win7, file
    caching on seems to be a requirement since Win7 can't handle any open
    files in a good way withouth it. It simply states "file not found" if
    file caching = off. If file caching = on, then the client will receive
    the message that the file is busy and can be opened in read-only.
    And, again, have file caching = on AND changing the server also to ON
    is NOT a good idea, at least not for us, since we got blue screens all
    over within a couple of min's when testing that setting and those
    disapperad just a fast when setting it to off again on the server.

  • Invalid File Handle - Windows 7 clients talking to Mac OS 10.5.8  server

    Hello
    I have a file-sharing volume setup under 10.5.8 server - however with the addition of Window 7 clients i'm noticing lots of error whilst trying to copy to or from that volume {setup under SMB and AFP} via a windows machine...
    My Mac OS clients report no issues
    My windows clients report the '' Invalid File Handle''

  • Why the err Invalid database Connection -CR 11 version in Visual studio 1.1

    Hai all,
    I am new to using the Crystal report with Visual studio 2003.I am facing Invalid database connection problem. My objective is tyring to upgrade CR 8 to CR11 with VS 1.1 framework(VC++ in .NET 2003).All things like ODBC connection with MS SQL server 2005,generating report going fine with CR8 version  but invalid database connection error comes with CR11 version. The configuration details and Code snippet are below for your ref,
    Upgrading CR8 to CR11 with VS .NET 2003.
    Application framework - VS 1.1 framework
    CR                            - 11 Version
    DB                            - MS SQL server 2005
    Connection                - ODBC
    DLL                          - CRPE32 DLL (Version11)
    Code snippet:
    CODBCDatabase * pDatabase = pApp->GetDatabase();
    BOOL bRes;
    bRes = ::PELogOnSQLServerWithPrivateInfo(_T("pdsodbc.DLL"), pDatabase->m_hdbc);
    Note: pdsodbc dll not found in local and anywhere.But it supports CR 8 but not CR 11.So i downloaded and put it in appropriate place exe path\system32\system and tested.Used and tested p2sodbc dll also but "Invalid DataBase connection" err came.Followed some instruction like changing the Data source name,DSN path,re installing CR 11 version and all but same problem coming.
    ::PELogOnSQLServerWithPrivateInfo() declation is in the following link

    Thanks for your reply
       The API i have given is not available in Crystal report 11.So i tried with the PELogonServer API of version 11.It also failed.
      I am unable to understand the suggestions you gave to me 1) The Report Designer Component (RDC)
    2) The CR Assemblies for .NET.
    Can you give any link that have related samples or articles to implement the above topics please?
    Thanks again,
