Invalid Objects - Converting 9i & 10g forms to Apex

I'm trying to convert my 9i & 10g forms to an Apex form. After converting the 9i form to HTML and creating the Project, I then try to generate the application and get errors. I get 'Invalid Objects' with the invalid table and column name listed. Upon checking out the invalid objects, every one is a "PUSH BUTTON' on the 9i form. Looking further into the Apex items, they have a 'Yes' value under the 'Database Item' heading. First off, push buttons are not database items and I think this is the problem.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, how did you resolve. Thanks!

When you have look in the xml file, you will see that the button is included in the block as an Item element.
In the same Block element there is no corresponding DataSourceColumn element.
But APEX doesn't take this into account when it uploads the xml file.
Further on when you want to create the application, it will fail due to APEX thinking the button is a database column.
Sadly enough we are not able to customize the query or to exclude the item (don't know why).
Hopefully this will be solved in APEX 4.0 until then moving the button to a dummy block in Forms is a workaround.
Regards,
Mathieu

    hi folks ,
    is it right that oracle intends to convert all 10g forms to jsp pages ?
    and if it is right , i wanna know why , thanks a lot

    that is what i heard , but i wanna know why ? what is wrong with 10g forms , and what advantages jsp pages have that ebs need
    and these advantages 10g forms do not have ? Using Oracle Application Framework (OAF) and Application Development Framework (ADF) [ID 563047.1]
    Forms tech stack will not be included in Fusion Applications - it is built using ADF.what do you mean hear with fusion applications ,( i know that there will be fusion middleware suite soon has oracle forms builder 12c)

  • Invalid object error while migrating oracle forms 6i to APEX

    Hi,
    I have a form name abc.fmb and I did converted to xml and imported using application migration in APEX
    With these I have nine PL/SQL libraries (PLL). converted it to PLD using rwconvertor and imported in APEX. Also, I have 4 tables i.e data base block in forms.
    Now, when i m migrating forms to APEX it is giving an error message saying invalid objects and shows the table name and column name. But the column name that it shows is a text box in the form that is also a database item ...
    eg:- addr is the block name in forms
    item name dsp_name
    error: invalid object
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    AP.

    Hi AP
    i would suggest this...

  • 10g Forms - 11g Forms with Object Library and PLLs

    Hey All,
    Our organization is working towards converting our existing Forms 10g architecture to 11g / Weblogic. I'm currently attempting to get the 11g Developers suite working locally, and hit a bit of a snag.
    I'm using Windows XP Prof SP3.
    Here is what I have working:
    * I got the correct version of WLS installed
    * I got the Dev suite itself installed
    * I can start and run WLS
    * I can open form builder, create a simple form, run it, it works.
    Here is where I am stuck:
    I am trying to get our existing 10g forms to compile and run under the 11g architecture. These forms were all developed using smart classes in an object library and all call various PLSQL procedures in a PLL file.
    I've done the following:
    * Recompiled all PLLs and menu modules using 11g compiler binaries
    * Made sure the FORMS_PATH registry key included where my PLX, OLB and FMX files are (under the correct, HOME key, I hope).
    * changed default.env file so FORMS_PATH points to where my PLX , OLB and FMX files are
    However, when I try to run any of the forms, I get the following error immediately :
    "FRM-93652: The runtime process has terminated abnormally.
    Contact your administrator.
    Details....
    Forms Session ID is formsapp.1"
    And in the trace file, there isn't much helpful information:

    Since I can create forms from scratch, it has SOMETHING to do with the subclassing / Object Library or the PLL/PLX. Can anyone give me any clues or hints? Is there any more tracing or logging I can turn on to get a better clue of the problem?
    Thanks!

    * ***NEVERMIND*** *
    I figured it out. I missed one of the the PLX files, and it was not recompiled under 11g. It is working now! Sorry to gum up the forum!

  • Do I need to convert 6i form to 10g form

    Hi all,
    I am currently working on a custom form (version 6i). we have a similar standard form in our project where they applied a patch to that standard form in order to convert it to 10g form and so some additional lines has been added to that standard form code in order to sort the data. So I have to make similar changes to the custom forms but i was wondering since the custom form is a 6i form do i need to convert it to 10g form before making any changes to that form and compile it in form builder.
    Can anybody please help me with this.
    Thanks.

    It sounds to me like you are doing this in the context of Oracle Applications? If that is so you should post your question in this forum: OA Framework

  • Invalid objects in APEX Schemas after import.

    Hi,
    After importing the APEX_040100 user in the database I got several invalid objects that are causing APEX not to work.
    I gave up to compile them. After using all kind of tricks such as compile one schema at a time or compile all of them using the utlprp.sql script
    or using EXEC DBMS_DDL.alter_compile('PACKAGE', 'MY_SCHEMA', 'MY_PACKAGE');
    or one object art a time using command sililar to:
    ALTER PACKAGE my_package COMPILE;
    ALTER PACKAGE my_package COMPILE BODY;
    ALTER PROCEDURE my_procedure COMPILE;
    ALTER FUNCTION my_function COMPILE;
    ALTER TRIGGER my_trigger COMPILE;
    ALTER VIEW my_view COMPILE;
    I can't find any documentation to show how to recompile them properly.
    So I am asking:
    1. How can we recompile all objects in APEX?
    2. How can we re-install APEX?
    3. How can we revert to previous version if both have problems?
    Thanks
    Yannis

    You mean you did export APEX_040100 schema from one database and import it to another database?
    There is also public synonyms and if I recall correct some objects are in SYS schema that belongs to Apex and are needed.

  • Converting from Forms to APEX

    does anyone have a formula or methodology for estimating the time it takes to convert (or recreate) a Form to APEX?

    Not really possible, since you are going to have to do some re-designing when you move from Forms to APEX. Just remember, the conversion tool will do some of the work, but you are REALLY better off re-developing your Forms app in APEX then converting..

    Hi Otto,
    We have had the form working and in most instances the form can be updated multiple times without issue.  However, occassionally a form is created OK but the next time it is launched it is blank (the data is visible when the PDF is downloaded to the desktop)
    Do you think this issue could be to do with the form layout/XML...I changed the form template 2 days ago as I suspected this issue could be realted to incorrect field bindings but we have had the error on a form created after the change was made.
    Many Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Did JHeadstart 11g capable to convert 10g forms to 11g  ADF Faces?

    We would like to purchase JHeadstart. We are using Oracle 10g Database , Forms & Report. Ours goal is to convert 10g forms to 11g ADF Faces. Which version of JHeadstart could capable to convert 10g Forms to 11g ADF Faces Directly? Need yours valuable suggestion/consultancy.

    Shahed,
    Thanks for your interest in Oracle JHeadstart. You should use Oracle JHeadstart 11g. You can buy the software through your local Oracle Consulting contact. If you do not have a contact please contact [email protected] and we will provide the right contact details. A good way to get a project like this started is through the Forms2ADF assessment service. You can read more about it in the factsheet http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jheadstart/OracleForms2ADFAssessment.pdf.

  • Problem with Migration Forms to Apex ...

    Hello !!
    I discovered Apex a few days ago, so I began with the Oracle tutorials, where I found the conversion from Forms to Apex : "Converting Your Oracle Forms Applications to Application Express 3.2".
    I tried to do the same, with a Unix server and my laptop with Windows.
    I downloaded the Forms which where on my Unix server on my laptop, and then converted them with frmf2xml.bat.
    Then I created a project and uploaded only one Forms Module (_fmb.XML). After upload, the Percent Complete column is lower than 100%.
    My problem is at the following step : "Generating Your Application Express Application".
    When I click on "Create Application", select "Based on Migration Project" and then on "Next", I have one of the following errors :
    - 1 error has occurred * The project, "Test Gestuser" does not contain any Blocks associated with database objects.
    - 1 error has occurred * Database schema PROCIE does not contain the associated database objects for the project, login. Ensure the database schema associated with the project contains the database objects associated with the uploaded Forms Module .XML file(s)
    I really don't understand these two errors, having yet checked all the possible error sources, user, schema, ... ?:|
    I have probably forgotten to give some informations, so ask them ;)
    Thanks for your help,
    Pierre C.

    I found the problem(s) ... but now I have another one !!
    The problems are with the Forms : I opened them with Forms Builder and created a new Block with the assistant. Then I compared this block with another "normal" block : they haven't the same properties.
    My block has an associated canvas and database source, whereas the other "normal" blocks haven't.
    Where does the error come from ??
    Is there something to do with Forms Builder ?
    On my Unix server before downloading the forms ?
    Another thing to do ??
    Thanks,
    Pierre C.

  • FRM - 41219 CANNOT FIND REPORT INVALID ID  - CALLING REPORT FROM FORM

    I am using Developer Suite 10g (forms 9i, reports 9i) . windows XP.
    I am using the following code in WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED-PRESSED trigger in form to call report.
    DECLARE
    repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
    rep_status varchar2(20);
    BEGIN
    repid := find_report_object('C:\EMP.RDF');
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
    END;
    as as result It is displaying FRM - 41219 CANNOT FIND REPORT INVALID ID.
    I have used the EMP.JSP also in find_report_object built-in. But there is no difference.
    what could be the reason - plz give the solution.
    with thanks

    Unless you made a mistake and overlooked it, what I suggested should work. Having said that, you did not mention the exact Forms version you are using. There may have been a problem in the version you are using which was corrected in a later release. I tested the example I offered using Forms 10.1.2.3 and it works correctly. Carefully review what you did. Verify that the file actually exists in the file system. Also, I would recommend renaming the file with all lower case letters and referencing it in the form with all lower case letters. Here is the complete code of the form I tested. I will also include the property values from the Report object.
    Report1 settings:
    Name - REPORT1
    Subclass Information -
    Comments -
    Filename - dummy.rdf
    Execution Mode - Batch
    Communication Mode - Synchronous
    Data Source Data Block - <Null>
    Query Name -
    Report Destination Type - File
    Report Destination Name -
    Report Destination Format -
    Report Server -
    Other Reports Parameters - On the form create the following items in BLOCK1:
    Text fields:
    <li>SERVERNAME
    <li>REPNAME
    <li>OTHERPARAMS
    Button:
    <li>CALL_REP
    In the WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger add this code:
    Declare
    repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    v_rep varchar2(256);
    rep_status varchar2(256);
    Begin
       repid := find_report_object('REPORT1');
    -- Set Report Object properties
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid, REPORT_DESTYPE, CACHE);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid, REPORT_DESFORMAT, 'HTML');
    -- Comm mode 1 = SYNCHRONOUS
    -- Comm mode 2 = ASYNCHRONOUS
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid, REPORT_COMM_MODE, 1);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid, REPORT_SERVER, :block1.SERVERNAME);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid, REPORT_FILENAME, :block1.REPNAME);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_OTHER,:block1.otherparams);
    SYNCHRONIZE;
    -- Run report and get status
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
    rep_status := report_object_status(v_rep);
    SYNCHRONIZE;
    -- Wait for Reports to generate results
        WHILE rep_status in ('RUNNING','OPENING_REPORT','ENQUEUED')
        LOOP
          rep_status := report_object_status(v_rep);
        END LOOP;
        SYNCHRONIZE;
    -- If DESTYPE is appropriate for displaying to user, execute WEB.SHOW ;
        IF rep_status = 'FINISHED' THEN
          WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('/reports/rwservlet/getjobid'||substr(v_rep,instr(v_rep,'_',-1)+1)||'?'||'server='||:block1.SERVERNAME,'_blank');
        ELSE
          message(rep_status);
        END IF;
    END; When you run the form, enter the Report Server name and the Report filename (include the path if you have not configured REPORTS_PATH). Then click on the button. Note that the substr logic may need to be altered slightly if you are using an old version of Forms/Reports.

  • FRM-92160: WEB Client Version too old & Vis R12.0.4 invalid objects

    Hello all,
    I'm installing Vision R12.0.4 in a server. That server used to contain Vision R12.0.0 which I upgraded to R12.0.4 but still had some invalid objects (I already submitted that problem in another thread). I installed the new vision instance to the same folder used to contain R12.0.0 vision after remove the old installation.
    After all installation steps completed I tried to connect from my laptop but I got this error message :

  • Is It Possible To Reconver 10g forms to 6i?

    Hi all,
    i want to reconvert my 10g forms to 6i. when i open a 10g forms in 6i form
    builder i got the ROS error.Is it possible or any other utility is available for
    conversion process.
    Regards
    Gopinath M

    I hear this question, when someone has migrated to 10g, did some changes and now he needs this changes backported to the old Forms 6i...
    because it is impossible you have to do something different :
    - if you know, which changes you made in 10g, do it manually in Forms 6i
    - if you know it not exactly convert the fmb to fmt... in the 6i-sources as well as in the 10g-sources. Compare the source-codes of both fmt's and find the changes in the pl/sql-sourcecodes. This is the easy part. Changes in block or item structures isn't that easy.
    The program-unit-comparison of a text-version of the fmb is possible with the FILE - ADMIN - Object List Report. That feature generates a txt-file of your sourcecodes
    try it

  • 10g Forms WEB_UTIL External dlls

    Hello,
    We are converting from Forms 6i to 10g and have several dll's that we currently call. All these dll's have been supplied by outside vendors. We have attempted to set up and use WEB_UTIL to continue calling these dlls in our 10g Forms and have run into errors. We posted a TAR and they have responded that all dll's must be written in C or C++ and only compiled using MSVC6. How in the world can anyone possibly ensure this? Does anyone know of a package or whatever that really works since it appears that WEB_UTIL is extremely limited and of no use to us?
    Thanks to all for any help you can give me

    Hi Andreas,
    Thanks for your message.
    I have set the path correctly in OAS. It picks up other object libraries except webutil where everything is in the same folder.
    I am still getting the error.
