Invoiceposting

Hi all,
actually i have created "terms of payments" as below-
2 days - 3%discount
4 days - 2% discount
5 days no discount.
so i have posted one invoice with RS 1000/- using this payment terms on the date of "05.02.2010".
but when i am posting the invoice i have given document date and posting date is "5-2-2010"
but "base line date" is showing the required. so i gave the date is "10-02-2010"
actually what is the "base line date" .
now today when i see the open items in "FBL1N", it is showing the cash discount is RS 30. and the open item still showing "not due" icon.
actually it has to show "overdue" without any discount.
please let me know the problem and the meaning of "base line date" and where i can keep this field as a optional field.
Thanks in advance.

Dear,
Baseline date is the date from which system starts calculating due date. In your case you have give the baseline date as 10.02.2010 in document with posting date 05.02.2010 so basically you are telling the system that start calculating payemnt term creadit from 10.02.2010 for due date.
2 days - 3%discount
4 days - 2% discount
5 days no discount.
So from 10..02.2010 to 11.02.2010 system will show 3%discount
From 12.02.2010 to 15.02.2010 2%
From 16.02.2010 it will be due.
Go to FBL1N and give 16.02.2010 in as open item date and then execute you will see it due.
To default the baseline date as posting date, go to OBB8 and select your payment term and select Posting Date under the default for baseline date.
