Invoke process from string value

Hi all,
I am trying to create a monitoring process that should monitor a mailbox. This monitoring process should look in the subject of the individual mails and by the subject determine which action to take (which underlying process) that should be invoked.
So if subject is "Process1" then the monitoring process ahould invoke "Process1".
EIther I see the possiblilty of dropping the form (attached to the email) into a predefined watched folder with the name "Process1" or calling the appropriate process by creating my own code for the EJB-endpoint (or SOAP?). However I don't knwo which solution is the easiest. I don't want to manually create 50 unique folders if using the EJB endpoint is simple.
Does anyone of you have an obvious solution (which I might have overlooked) or just some comments/pointers for which/where to go from here they would be highly appreciated.
Sincerely
Kim

I get it now.
I would suggest to use the EJB to invoke LiveCycle. Like you mentioned, you should be able to create a generic function that takes the name of the process as an input parameter and then you call that process using a generic call (if the input/output parameters are the same).
This is an example:
public InvocationResponse InvokeShortLived(String service, String operation, Map parameters){
try {
// Create a ServiceClient object
ServiceClient myServiceClient = _factory.getServiceClient();
InvocationRequest request = _factory.createInvocationRequest(
service, // Specify the short-lived process name
operation, // Specify the operation name
null, // Specify input values
false); // Create a synchronous request
// Send the Invocation request to the short-lived process and
// get back an InvocationResponse object
InvocationResponse response = myServiceClient.invoke(request);
response.getOutputParameter("result");
eturn response;
} catch (Exception ex) {
System.out.println(" ERROR -> " + ex.getMessage());
ex.printStackTrace();
return null;

  • Invoke process from method implementation of automatic activity

    Hi,
    I want to invoke a business process from automatic activity of another business process deployed on same engine and in same project as well. Please provide steps, if possible for the same.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ketan,
    Here's how you can create an instance in a process using logic in an Automatic activity's method. This uses the "Fuego.Lib.ProcessInstance.create()" method shown below inside a process:
    // "args" is an associative string array (Any[String])
    argsIn as Any[String]
    // this assumes that the Begin activity has two argument variables
    //   named "nameArg" and "amountArg" and you're setting them
    //   to the variables "name" and "amount" respectively
    argsIn["someArgVarName"] = "Hello"
    argsIn["someBpmObject"] = myBpmObject
    // logic here to determine the name of the process to create an instance in
    idOfProcess as String
    idOfProcess = <hard coded string that has the id (not the name of the process to instantiate>
    ProcessInstance.create(processId : "/" + idOfProcess, arguments : argsIn, argumentsSetName : "BeginIn") ProcessInstance is in the Catalog inside Fuego.Lib.
    The processId parameter (the "idOfProcess" variable in the above logic) is the thing I most commonly screw up with this. It is the text you see when you right mouse click the process in the Project Navigator tab -> "Properties". Look at the value in the "Id" field and not the "Name" field here (the name without any space characters). Prefix it with a "/" as is shown here and if you've deployed this using an organization unit (OU) then prefix this to the string also.
    The third parameter is almost always "BeginIn". Begin activities in a process can have many incoming argument mappings, the default is "BeginIn". To see yours, double click the process's Begin activity and look at the mapping's name in the upper left corner of the dialog.
    "argsIn" is the set of incoming argument variables you want passed into the process. A common mistake is to type in the names of the incoming argument variables without the double quotes like this:
    // this will *NOT* work
    argsIn[someArgVarName] = "Hello"
    argsIn[someBpmObject] = myBpmObject
    . . .Here is the correct syntax:
    // this *WILL* work
    argsIn["someArgVarName"] = "Hello"
    argsIn["someBpmObject"] = myBpmObject
    . . .In this example, the process has two argument variables. It does not matter if the incoming argument variables are primitive type arguments (e.g. String, Integer, Decimal...) or BPM Objects, it is always done the same way. In this example, there is a String incoming argument called "someArgVarName" and a BPM Object incoming argument called "someBpmObject".
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • How to pass multiple values while invoking bpel process from ADF?

    Hi,
    I want to call a bpel process from my ADF application. The bpel process is having one input parameter. I have created webservice data control by using WSDL url.
    Lets say, I have an Emp multi select table. I drag and drop the data control into Emp table selection facet to create an "Invoke" button.
    I am able to pass single value (lets say Empid) to the bpel process after clicking the "Invoke" button.
    But, my requirement is to pass all the selected values ( as its a multi select table) to the bpel process after clicking the "Invoke" button once.
    How can I achieve this?

    Hi,
    if the BPEL method that you access allows you to pass arrays or lists, then you can get a list of selectedRowKeys from the table, which then you use to get the value from the underlying binding or the table. This however requires some Java coding instead of directly invoking the executable on the binding layer
    - you create the BPEL method in the binding layer
    - from a Java managed bean you call ADFBindingContext --> get current instance and access Binding container
    - OperationBinding oper = (OperationBinding ) bindings.get("method to invoke");
    oper.gerParamsMap().put("the BPel argument name", value);
    oper.execute();
    - To access the table selected rows
    RowKeySet rks = _table.getSelectedRowKeys();
      //iterate over the set of selected row keys and delete
      //each of the found rows
      Iterator selectedRowIterator = rks.iterator();
      while (selectedRowIterator.hasNext()){
        //get the first key
        Object key = selectedRowIterator.next();
        //make the row current
        _table.setRowKey(key);
        //the row is an instance of the ADF node binding class
        JUCtrlHierNodeBinding rowWrapper = null;
        rowWrapper = (JUCtrlHierNodeBinding) _table.getRowData();
        //get the actual oracle.jbo.Row object
        Row row = rowWrapper.getRow();
        ... get attribute values by calling row.getAttribute("name"); assuming you used ADF BC to build the tableFrank

    Have got the same problem. Scenario at my end is little different though.
    I am trying to invoke a BPEL process from an ESB Service.
    I am trying to look into it..
    However, would be grateful, if someone can give some insight into this since many are running into this issue without being able to fix.

  • Questions on Invoking a Process from a web site

    Question in regards to invoking processes.  I am new to this portion of technology and I am sure many would know how this works.  We have a process in Workbench that needs to be invoked from a remote web site.  The process would take one parameter.. ie an ID.  The process will then query the database and send a boolean value back to the site and then this site would perform a specific operation.   My question is, is there any examples out there that someone could provide that can show how this can be done?  What do i need in my website (I know how to set up buttons and  create OnSubmit processes and very familiar with javascript,html)?  I believe somehow it can be done with SOAP or REST?  Thanks very much in advance for any help.

    You just need a form in HTML with elements(e.g. textbox - string, file - document etc.) having same name as the process input parameter name and the the form action attribute should be pointing to REST URL of the process.
    For example : for a process(short-lived) having REST URL : http://localhost:8080/rest/services/WatchedFolder...  with one input parameter as XML and document as output variable, we'll use below HTML code :
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE> Sample Invoke REST endpoint </TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
      <form action="http://localhost:8080/rest/services/WatchedFolder... method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data">
    <p>Chose a file to send to the process.</p> <p>file: <input type="file" name="inputXML" /> </p> <p> <input type="submit"/> </p>
    </form>
      </BODY>
    </HTML>
    When you click on submit, the output document would be opened in the browser automatically after submission of the form.

  • Invoking a SyncAsync Process from a Web Client

    I implemented a SyncAsync pattern as documented on the BEA website which allowed me to invoke an async process from a stateless process.
    This works as a syncasync wsdl gets generated and is used by the stateless invoker process to form a web service control to invoke the async process.
    What i would like to do now is call the async process via its syncasync wsdl from a web client. Does anyone know how to create a web service client from the syncasync wsdl which I can use from a web client ?

  • Error while invoking ESB process from a BPEL process

    Hi all
    We have a requirement to call an ESB process from a BPEL process. We are using an adapter wth the ESB's WSDL url. After deploying the BPEL process, the registered ESB is getting called for most values while suddenly some values return the followign error
    *"exception on JaxRpc invoke: HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: Connection reset"*
    The catch here is, if we re-run the process with the same values again, the ESB is called successfully! How is it possible for a process to error out and run normally for the same inputs ?
    What could be the possible fix for this? I am thankful for any inputs on this.
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
    This is a bug and you can refer the metalink note:
    "Applying Patch 7445876 Results in Error "java.lang.NullPointerException". [ID 942575.1]" for reference.
    Also you can refer the following link:
    "http://puchaanirudh.blogspot.com/2008/12/exception-on-jaxrpc-invoke-http.html" also.
    Thanks,
    Vishwanath.

  • TNS:Operation Timed Out error while trying to invoke BPEL Process from sql

    Hi,
    I am trying to invoke a BPEL Process from PL/sql code. When i try to invoke the process, I am getting the following error message
    ORA-29273 HTTP Request Failed
    ORA:06512: at SYS.UTH_HTTP at line 1029
    ORA:12535: TNS:Operation Timed Out
    ORA:06512: at line 18
    I have the SOA suite installed on my local machine...and the BPEL process that i am trying to invoke is deployed their.
    Any idea what could be wrong..following is the code piece
    soap_request:='<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <soap:Header/>
    <soap:Body xmlns:ns1="http://xmlns.oracle.com/Test">
    <ns1:TesProcessRequest><ns1:input>is1_1land</ns1:input></ns1:TesProcessRequest>
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>';
    dbms_output.put_line('soap_request: '||soap_request);
    utl_http.set_proxy('3.209.30.25:80', '3.209.32.149:8888');
    http_req:= utl_http.begin_request('http://3.209.32.149:8888/orabpel/default/Tes/1.0 '
                   ,'POST'
                                  ,'HTTP/1.1');
    dbms_output.put_line('after Begin Request' );
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Type', 'text/xml') ;
    Please advise

    you are right the file adapter doesnt invoke any bpel
    process, instead it is polling the file from
    directory location?If it is polling for new files, shouldn't it create a new instance of the BPEL process automatically the moment it finds a new file? In other words, should a new file trigger an instance of the BPEL process rather than being started from PL/SQL?
    Can this file adapter not be invoked as bpel process
    in that case?The file adapter is part of a BPEL process. The BPEL process can be invoked from e.g. PL/SQL.
    In this case this file adapeter return to an RECEIVE
    activity...I think this receive cannot be invoked as
    a BPEL process rite?Can you explain what you mean with this?
    Also , will all synchronous request return "TIMEOUT"
    error, if tried to invoke from pl/sql?Only if the synchronous process instance takes more time to complete (and thus to return) than the value specified for a time-out to occur. If the instance completes in for example 10 ms and the time-out time is specified as 30 seconds, no time-out will occur.

  • Invoking BPEL Process from a JSP Page 500 Internal Server Error

    Hi,
    I try to invoke a BPEL Process from a JSP Page and receive the following error. I just pasted the example from the Oracle PM Developer's Guide tutorial. Previously I deployed the CreditRatingService BPEL Process.
    Can anyone help me, please?

    Here is a sequence from my JSP / and the error I get:
    String ssn = request.getParameter("ssn");
    if(ssn == null)
    ssn = "123-12-1234";
    String xml = "<ssn xmlns=\"http://services.otn.com\">"
    + ssn + "</ssn>";
    Locator locator = new Locator("default","welcome1");
    IDeliveryService deliveryService =
    (IDeliveryService)locator.lookupService
    (IDeliveryService.SERVICE_NAME );
    // construct the normalized message and send to oracle bpel process manager
    NormalizedMessage nm = new NormalizedMessage( );
    nm.addPart("payload", xml );
    NormalizedMessage res =
    deliveryService.request("CreditRatingService", "process", nm);
    Map payload = res.getPayload();
    out.println( "BPELProcess CreditRatingService executed!<br>" );
    out.println( "Credit Rating is " + payload.get("payload") );

    Here is the solution:
    Properties props = new Properties();
    props.setProperty("orabpel.platform", "oc4j_10g");
    props.setProperty("java.naming.factory.initial",
    "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    props.setProperty("java.naming.provider.url", "ormi://localhost/orabpel");
    props.setProperty("java.naming.security.principal", "oc4jadmin");
    props.setProperty("java.naming.security.credentials", "welcome1");
    and several jars have to be added to the project:
    Orabpel.jar , Orabpel-common.jar, oc4j*.jar,
    %ANT_HOME%\lib\ant.jar;
    %ANT_HOME%\lib\xercesImpl.jar;
    %ANT_HOME%\lib\xml-apis.jar;
    %AXIS_HOME%\lib\axis.jar;
    %AXIS_HOME%\lib\axis-ant.jar;
    %AXIS_HOME%\lib\commons-discovery.jar;
    %AXIS_HOME%\lib\commons-logging.jar;
    %AXIS_HOME%\lib\jaxrpc.jar;
    %AXIS_HOME%\lib\log4j-1.2.8.jar;
    %AXIS_HOME%\lib\saaj.jar;
    %AXIS_HOME%\lib\wsdl4j.jar;

    Hi,
      Check if your wsdl endpoint can accessed properly. If yes, check the soap-binding address is properly pointing to the server hosting the webservice.
    Regards,
    Harikiran.

    Hey,
    no big deal, this is because the Locator you use, runs in, say local mode,
    use the other API constructor in locator, which gets a hashtable.
    Tutorial is available in samples\tutorials\102.InvokingProcesses\rmi
    Locator locator = new Locator("default","bpel",props);
    The reason why you get that "notFoundEx" is because you are not in the same rmi.context bel runs in.

    Hi
    You are trying to create a locator object with default values which does not work at all times.Use Locator("default",prop) where prop is a properties object and set the values according to your environment.
    The following properties values must be set
    Properties props=new Properties();
    props.setProperty("orabpel.platform","ias_10g");
    props.setProperty("java.naming.factory.initial","com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    props.setProperty("java.naming.provider.url", "url value");
    props.setProperty("java.naming.security.principal","domain user name");
    props.setProperty("java.naming.security.credentials","password");
    props.setProperty("dedicated.rmicontext", "true");
