Invoke Save Content on Assigned TextFrame

Hi,
I'm trying to solve one situation... when assigned story is in status "In use and out of date". This one is quite disturbing for client (even more for developer) and could lead to unwanted direction like - getting back the old content and loosing any modification which you entered. If you want to reproduce it, it is very easy:
1. Create incopy assigned text frame
2. Save it, save document
3. Check Out the Story
4. Enter some content
5. Save document
--- at this point everything is cool and status of Story is "In Use"
6. Enter content and hit "UNDO"
--- at this point you get "In Use and Out of Date" status
One solution to solve this is that you just hit Save and Assignment is "In use" status or you could do Save Content from Edit->InCopy menu or from "right click on text frame" pop-up menu just for that Story.
Now, the question is... is there a solution to do "Save Content" by scripting... no metter what is selected at that point. Something like:
For (Browse through all Assignments)
--- If (Assignment is in status "In use and out of date")
--- --- Do the Save Content for that Assignment
--- End If
Next
And just to be clear - not to use the InvokeMenu method.

Hi Jarek,
I agree that "out of date" status is very needed and shows to client if the change is made to TextFrame... but take a look again in that little icon over the frame (my screenshot)...
The icon says - "In use and out of date"... this is situation from InDesign which you can reproduce without another user doing check out/check in in InCopy. So - only you and nobody else. The icon means that you are editing the content of the frame and in the same time - your content needs an update?!
Just to mention that this situation I couldn't reproduce in InCopy. Here you will find very simple explanation about this icon and some comments.

And because you can not be absolutely sure that client will not hit Save and Undo, I would like to implement in my editorial system workflow, a peace of code which will check the assignments and when spot that status -> do something... alert, message, save content, save doc or else...
I would appreciate if someone could provide me even with little help on how to catch this status in InDesign.

Adding content to a textframe

Hi all,
I want to add some content to a textframe which already has some text in it. If i use the following code
tframe.content += "appended text"
then the text is appended to the textframe but all the text that was previously present in the the textframe has their paragraph style reset to the paragraph style of the new text.
What i need is that the paragraph style of the original text should not change and the new text takes up the paragraph style of the para in which it is added.
Second issue is how do i add a special character like a Em-Dash to the text that i want to place in the textframe. If i use the enum like SpecialCharacters.EM_DASH it displays a number(the value of the enum) in the frame but not the actual character.

Your solution worked thanks, but i have some confusion i was trying with the code as
pi.insertionPoints.lastItem().contents = "appended text"
this code was working fine unless i tried to append text in a threaded textframe. In some cases the text was jumbled up depending upon where it was inserted, in some cases some portion of text was inserted in reverse order. Could you explain what was wrong in this code, also what does -1 index in your code stand for.
It will be very nice and helpful of you if you could clear up my confusion.

Suppose we have a textfield in a component dialog. Irrespective of how enduser enters the data in the textfield, lower/mixed/upper case, it should always be saved as lowercase in the repository.

You have 2 options:
* Frontend: You adjust the javascript, so the user can only enter lowercase characters
* Server-side: Implement a SlingPostProcessor to change the data to lowercase before it is persisted (see http://sling.apache.org/apidocs/sling6/org/apache/sling/servlets/post/SlingPostProcessor.h tml)

WARNING: this code will not compile as is because it uses some other classes from my personal code library (FileUtil & StringUtil). The particular methods of those classes which are used below are trivial methods that anyone can write, which is is why I have not posted them as well. So, to get the code below to compile, you can

Ok Nishant, just did some quick research, since rtf file is unlike txt file, we cannot simply directly write some content to the rtf.
You can try to find some third party code that can help you insert text into rtf file or you would like to load the content from rtf out to the richeditbox and merge them to one richeditbox and then save back to the file.

Is it possible to save the contents shown of a picture control as a jpeg file into an excel file along with other data? Is this possible without using ActiveX? If I have to use ActiveX how do I use this?

I know that I've got to also update the table with the correct length of the value stored in LRAW, and have done that, but it seems to have lost the end bits of the LRAW field.
Also, can I also find out how I can then retrieve the LRAW value after it's being saved? This needs to be done as later on, we would have to move the values from LRAW into the initial structure it came from.

Actually, I first wanted to get Window Pop-up asking for a file name and then after file name is entered user should click on save button and then all the data entered in the table should be saved.

You can use the WordRpt_NewPage function to add a new page into an opened word document.

Filtering Content in Assignment Blocks

In CRM 7.0 we are marking Accounts and Contacts for Archiving (the Archive Flag). We want to filter these out of the possible choices in the Interaction Center, Account Identification screen, and in the Assignment Blocks for Account or Contact. Is there a way to filter out those Accounts and Contacts which have been flagged for Archiving from subsequent CRM screens or Assignment Blocks? How would we do this? Is it perhaps by blocking them in the Authorizations area?

When a user logs onto the portal, they will see only the content that refers to their
operation(s).
Control over the display of content for any user will be provided by two means;
1. security
2.filter criteria.
Security will be provided via the Access Control Lists (ACLs) for Knowledge Management (KM) in the SAP Enterprise Portal.
Custom filtering logic required to write the code to provide read-only display for relevant content based on the content category.
So the criteria or properties to be added to the KM document when the authors upload the content. The custom filter will then look at the attributes of the user in SAP Backend and determine which documents will be displayed at runtime.
The second option would be : Simply, taxonomies are alternate, logical navigation to folders which contain links to the physical content.

How to save contents of JPanel to an image file

Hi,
I am using a JPanel to display some primitive shapes(line, circle,etc.) and I need to save the contents of this panel to disk as an image file (JPEG, bitmap, TIFF, etc.). Have searched jdc but've found no feasible results. I would really appreciate a sample code for this job.

Got it ...i just forgot the 3rd line:

enc.encode(img);but am still having a problem is that the picture is black ...eventhough the panel has contents and i can see it but the picture has nothing but pitch black ...what do you think ??

How do I save contents from web page to iWork

This may be the wrong community so please let me know if it is? I want to save a document from a web page in Safari to iWork on iCloud.com. The document is of my son's USA hockey membership confirmation and I don't know how to save it to iWork or which application to save it to once I do? Numbers, Pages? Thank you in advance..

It's really just content on a web page but its information I need to have access to across all my devices from a MacBook Pro to iPhone and iPod touch. I want to be able to view it in the Pages iOS app and the OS X app.
I just need to know the best way to save it, & in the fewest amount of clicks preferably.
