Invoking a web service with the WSDL URL given at run time

I have created a very Simple Web Service using Netbeans 6.0 as an EJB Module. I have successfully created clients to access the web service, both through a Composite Application and through a simple Java Desktop Application, using the create "New Web Service Client" option, either by pointing to the EJB project either by providing the WSDL URL.
What I want now, is for the Java Desktop application to be able to consume the service after it has discovered the WSDL URL at runtime (e.g. through UDDI).
From what I have been able to find on the web, I should use the javax.xml.ws.Service class. But when I attempt to use the getPort method I get the exception:
"com.sun.xml.ws.model.RuntimeModelerException: runtime modeler error: Wrapper class mypackagename.jaxws.MyWebServiceName is not found. Have you run APT to generate them?"
Since I know that this class is not needed for the Web Service to be accessed, when the two procedures I describe above are used, I wonder what I can do to get this to work.
I have tried using apt from the command line but it can't find Java EE classes, so it doesn't work.

Hi Yarecki,
I'm afraid I'm also a newbie, and I'm feeling my way around things.
I have written some code. However, you should be warned that... it doesn't work!
        String wsdlLocation;//=...some URL...
        String input;//=...XML...either SOAP message either SOAP payload
     try{
         java.net.URL wsdlURL = new java.net.URL(wsdlLocation);
            //these should be extracted from the service WSDL document
            java.lang.String serviceName = "CalculationServiceService";
            java.lang.String portName = "CalculationServicePort";
            String namespace = "http://localhost:8080/CalculationServiceService";
            javax.xml.transform.Source inputSource = new javax.xml.transform.stream.StreamSource(new java.io.StringReader(input));
            javax.xml.namespace.QName serviceQName = new javax.xml.namespace.QName(namespace, serviceName);
            javax.xml.namespace.QName portQName = new javax.xml.namespace.QName(namespace, portName);
            javax.xml.ws.Service service = javax.xml.ws.Service.create(wsdlURL, serviceQName);
            javax.xml.ws.Dispatch<javax.xml.transform.Source> dispatch =
                  service.createDispatch(portQName, javax.xml.transform.Source.class, javax.xml.ws.Service.Mode.MESSAGE);
       //javax.xml.ws.Dispatch<javax.xml.transform.Source> dispatch =
           //service.createDispatch(portQName, javax.xml.transform.Source.class, javax.xml.ws.Service.Mode.PAYLOAD);
//alternative method, with different input
            javax.xml.transform.Source replySource = dispatch.invoke(inputSource);
            javax.xml.bind.JAXBContext jc = javax.xml.bind.JAXBContext.newInstance(nikos.test.CalculationResult.class);
            javax.xml.bind.Unmarshaller unm = jc.createUnmarshaller();
            nikos.test.CalculationResult result = (nikos.test.CalculationResult)unm.unmarshal(replySource);
            System.out.println(result.getResult());
        } catch (JAXBException ex) {
            JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this, ex);
            ex.printStackTrace();
        } catch (MalformedURLException ex) {
            ex.printStackTrace();//this should not happen.
        }In fact I'm getting a weird error

  • Create Web Service System using WSDL URL

    Hi,
    Please help me create a Web Service System.
    Following is the test result when I perform Connection Test after creating a system
    Test Connection with Connector
      Test Details:
    The test consists of the following steps:
    1. Retrieve the default alias of the system
    2. Check the connection to the backend application using the connector defined in this system object
      Results
    Retrieval of default alias successful
    Connection failed. Make sure that Single Sign-On is configured correctly
    Thanks,
    Atul

    Let me reiterate my problem.
    I created the System as following
    Creating System's Object:
    1) Go to System Administration
    2) Go to System Configuration
    3) Go to Portal Content on Object Based Navigation Area (Right Side Panel)
    Note:  For avoiding confusion it is recommended to create a folder in which we are creating System Object.
    4) Right Click on Portal Content, select New -> System (from Template)
    5) This action will display a new view on right side, now choose Web Service System using WSDL URL radio button from the existing templates. Click Next
    6) Give the System Name  i.e. System_WS and System Id  (which are mandatory fields) incase you want to give any brief notes about the system then give it in Description field.  Click Finish.
    8) Choose Open the object for editing Click OK.
    9) Now to create a Web Service System, we need WSDL URL.
    10) There are lots of freely available WSDL files on internet, search for any such WSDL file.
    11)  In the Properties area of system give the appropriate WSDL URL
    12) Choose System alias, from display menu and give alias as System_WS.
         This alias name will be the name of Web Service System.
    I used the following url
    http://soap.amazon.com/schemas2/AmazonWebServices.wsdl
    After the system is created,
    1) Right click on the created system> open > object
    2) Drop down for Display options is changed to Connection Tests from what it shows as object
    3) Check the check box for the test name Connection Test for Connectors
    4) Result shows that the connection failed. The error message was posted in my first question.
    Thanks,
    Atul

  • Deploy a web service with the deploy tool (J2EE)

    Hi!
    I want to deploy a web service with the Deploy Tool (J2EE 1.4).
    (For info, I'm working on Win 2000.)
    I have the following error when I'm trying to deploy:

    Someone can help me, please? What's the problem?
    Other question: when I create the WAR file, I have to add : my interface class, my implementation class, my others java classes, my WSDL file and my mapping.xml file.
    Should I add the .jar that is used by one of my class???? I think yes, but...
    thank you and excuse me for my english... ;o)

    Only primitive types can be returned? Is thatcorrect????

  • Problem deploying web service with the deploy tool (J2EE)

    Hello,
    I am trying to deploy a sample Web Service on the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1 2005Q1.
    I run into a deployment problem ("jaxrpc compilation exception") when I have one of the web methods declared (in the endpoint interface) to throw a service-specific exception. The problem disappears when I change the declaration to throw an Exception.
    Here is the exception class:
    public class StockNotFoundException extends Exception {
    private String message;
    public StockNotFoundException(String message) {
    super(message);
    this.message = message;
    public String getMessage() {
    return message;
    the endpoint interface:
    public interface StockServiceIF extends Remote {
    // the service methods
    public boolean sellStocks(String ticker, int quantity)
    throws RemoteException, StockNotFoundException;
    and here are the error messages I am seeing:
    in the deploy tool dialog:

  • Accessing external web service with non-constant URL

    Hello, all
    I am looking in the documentation on accessing external web services, but either I am looking in the wrong place, or the documentatoin is lacking info.
    My clients have several web services in the local network (regular services, not DB-based), the have the same interface, but different URL's.
    Versions of the DB are 11, 12, and 16.
    First of all, I do not see in the specs an option for a non-hardcoded URL. The logic says that this has to be possible, but I cannot find it.
    Second, I need to see an example of accessing an XML or JSon based service, I cannot find it in the specs either.
    Can anyone point me to a document with examples?
    Thank you
    Arcady

    The following will call a web service with whatever URL you pass in as the argument "myurl".  I think that is what you are looking for.
    CREATE PROCEDURE cli_test2( myurl LONG VARCHAR )
    RESULT( httpheaders long varchar, httpvalues long varchars
    URL '!myurl'
    To deal with the resulting data in XML, use the OPENXML() function.
    eg. To turn an XML list of employees that looks like this:
    <root>
    <row EmployeeID="102" Surname="Whitney" GivenName="Fran" StartDate="1984-08-28"/>
    </root>
    into a table of results, you would do this (where xmlgetemplist() is the web service call):
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE xmlgetemplist() RESULT( httpheader long varchar, httpbody long varchar)
    URL 'http://localhost/demo/xmlEmployeeList'
    TYPE 'HTTP:GET';
    create variable res long varchar;
    -- call the web service
    select httpbody into res from xmlgetemplist() where httpheader = 'Body'
    -- extract the XML elements into a SQL result set
    select * from openXML( res, '/root/row' ) WITH ( EmployeeID INT '@EmployeeID',
           GivenName    CHAR(20) '@GivenName',
           Surname      CHAR(20) '@Surname',
           PhoneNumber  CHAR(10) '@Phone');
    To deal with the resulting data in JSON, use the sp_parse_json() procedure.
    eg.
    To turn a JSON formatted list of employees that looks like this:
    "EmployeeID": 102,
    "Surname": "Whitney",
    "GivenName": "Fran",
    "StartDate": "1984-08-28",
    "TerminationDate": null
    into a table of results, you would do this (where jsongetemplist() is the web service call):
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE jsongetemplist() RESULT( httpheader long varchar, httpbody long varchar)
    URL 'http://localhost/demo/jsonEmployeeList'
    TYPE 'HTTP:GET';
    create variable foo long varchar;
    --call the webservice
    select httpbody into foo from jsongetemplist() where httpheader = 'Body';
    --turn the json result into a structured array of data
    -- this step is required because of less structured nature of JSON
    call sp_parse_json( 'output_array', foo);
    --extract the JSON elements from the output array into a SQL result set
    SELECT  output_array[[row_num]].EmployeeID as EmployeeID,
                   output_array[[row_num]].SurName as SurName,
                   output_array[[row_num]].GivenName as GivenName,
                   output_array[[row_num]].StartDate as StartDate,
                   output_array[[row_num]].TerminationDate as EndDate
    FROM sa_rowgenerator(1, CARDINALITY(output_array))
    Hope this helps,
    --Jason

  • Invoking a web service with multi document WSDL

    Hi,
    I'm trying to call a web service from BPEL using the partner link button. The WSDL I have is in two parts, the first document includes the endpoint and a wsdl:import statement which points to the second document containing types and definitions. I can create a client to the service using JDeveloper but BPEL doesn't seem to register the WSDL as valid.
    I have included the wsdls below for information. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

    I've noticed that JDeveloper [edit:]doesn't[:edit] recursively look for schema type infomation and things in sub wsdl files, could you have a similar issue? (BPEL engine don't have an issue though)
    BTW, your second wsdl file imports a third wsdl file -> I presume this defines the portType?

  • Consuming Web Services with ABAP - WSDL

    Hi All,
    I Want to consume web service in abap, i found lot of documents,Here i am having data in the internal table i need to pass
    it to wsdl file, The Web Service or Proxy generates a WSDL file. So this WSDL file can be consumed on ABAP Front and Encrypt the Data that is to be sent to the Banks.
    I found the input and output, Where i can find the method generated or we need to create it
    CALL METHOD io_clientproxy->XXXXXXXXXXXX
    please let me have your valuable ideas
    Thanks in advance,
    Arun.

    Hi Miguel,
    I have not heared about SPROXY, Here i found some code,which calls a web service method and where it is from.
    when i double click on my proxy it shows me some method.IF_PROXY_BASIS_INTERNAL~CREATE_FRAMEWORK
    this is the one web service method. and i meed to pass the internal table data to WSDL file.

  • Combine multiple web services with the same SQL query into one

    Hello,
    I would like to ask a question regarding combine multiple similar web services into one. Can you please tell me if it is possible to combine 4-5 web services into one since they built on the same SQL query with 5 different criterias or condition so that the user can enter any of the 5 criterias to populate the data on the form instead of having 5 different web services?
    e.g Query: Select appName, permit#, address, phone, description, type, section, from table where appName = can be 'appName, permit#, address, phone, or description' to populate the rest of the data to the form.
    Does any one have ever done some thing like this in Workbench ES? If so please assist. I know it can be easier to build it in Visual Basic, C#, or dot.net but the requirement is to build it in workbench ES.
    Thanks in advance,
    Han Dao

    If you are querying for Name, PhoneNumber, and SSN, and you queried for all people with a phone number that started with 867, you would have a potentially long list of people.  So to keep track of all of the people, we store each record in XML complex elements.  The root node is just any name you want, and the repeating element is the complex element name.
    So using the example from above, I'm going to specify the following:
         Root Node: Result
         Repeating Element: Person
    So now when I do a query, my resultXML will look like:
    <Result>
          <Person>
                 <Name>Alex</Name>
                 <PhoneNumber>867-5309</PhoneNumber>
                 <SSN>111-11-1111</SSN>
          </Person>
    </Result>
    If your query returned multiple results (like ours would probably), it would look like:
    <Result>
          <Person>
                 <Name>Alex</Name>
                 <PhoneNumber>867-5309</PhoneNumber>
                 <SSN>111-11-1111</SSN>
          </Person>
          <Person>
                 <Name>Han</Name>
                 <PhoneNumber>867-2169</PhoneNumber>
                 <SSN>222-22-2222</SSN>
          </Person>
    </Result>
    So Result and Person is just to give a little bit of structure to the xml result (containers really).  So you can name them whatever is helpful for you.
    The column name mappings map the query columns (Name, PhoneNumber, SSN) to some node in the XML (Name, PhoneNumber, SSN).  So you don't need to specify which field maps to what in the form.  Just copy the column names to the element name so you have a 1-to-1 naming.  If you want to manipulate the XML a bit though, you could do:
    Column Name               Element
    Name                            YourName
    PhoneNumber                Phone
    SSN                              Secret
    which would then make your xml look like:
    <Result>
          <Person>
                 <YourName>Alex</YourName>
                 <Phone>867-5309</Phone>
                 <Secret>111-11-1111</Secret>
          </Person>
    </Result>
    It lets you change the XML element names to whatever you want. Otherwise by default they take on their column names.
    In your form, you could bind to the WSDL through the Data Connections pane and point it to your web service.  This will then create form elements that you can just drag and drop allowing you to have the information available when the service gets ran.  Once the service is called, you can modify the field's data to get whatever information you need in order to populate other form fields.
    If that is too confusing, feel free to send me your form (e-mail is on profile page) and I'll add comments to it to show you how to set up the form for the web service call (and also give me the link to your webservice)

  • How to use web services with Dynamic url behaviour

    Hi,
    IView created by me currently uses some web services whose url behavior is static but i want to give a dynamic url behavior. i.e. i want to use the url which user provides. So here are my questions
    1. How I shall assign the url supplied by the user to IView?
    2. If I want to set some config variables during runtimes how I shall do it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vishvesh

    Hi,
    1. I'm guessing you mean the webservice's url the user provides is pointing to an identical webservice to what you used to create your proxy... otherwise I think it will be very hard to do (I can imagine creating the proxies using the wsdl tool in run time or using code dome.. but that can't be what you want, right?).
    So if what you wanted is to use the same web service with a different url, then the web service's proxy class you created has API for doing this in code! (it inherits it)
    2. you can't, simply since the portal application doesn't ever use the config file... it isn't even deployed to the portal... so dynamic properties are "out of the question" here, sorry... see 1 again

    Ofer

  • Calling web service with utl_dbws and parsing the xml result with Xpath

    I'm invoking a web service from the database(10.2.0.2.0) using sys.utl_dbws and all is working well. After executing response := sys.utl_dbws.invoke(call_, request); I execute dbms_output.put_line(substr(response.getstringval(),1,1500)); which results with:
    <refCursor10gProcessResponse xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/refCursor10g">

  • Error invoking a web service within another web service

    Hi all!
    I have to develop a web service which needs to invoke another web service, thus the first web service is acting as a client of the second one. To get this, the first web service uses the proxy provided by the home page of the second one. However, when the first service invokes the second service, the body within the soap message is modified in such a way that it is not valid for the second service, because some namespaces declarations are added, in spite of the fact that they already exist. Then, I find the following:
    Body of the SOAP request created by the first web service:
    <a:request attribute1="urn:attribute:one"
    xmlns:a="urn:namespace:one" xmlns:b="urn:namespace:two">
    <b:body>Hello</b:body>
    </a:request>
    Body of the SOAP request received by the second web service:
    <a:request xmlns:a="urn:namespace:one"
    attribute1="urn:attribute:one"
    xmlns:a="urn:namespace:one" xmlns:b="urn:namespace:two">
    <b:body xmlns:b="urn:namespace:two">Hello</b:body>
    </a:request>
    I have also tried to run a client using this proxy outside the web service, and everything is ok. So, from my point of view, the problem is when running the proxy inside a web service. I wonder if I have to do something special with this proxy in order to use it within a web service.
    Has anybody run into this situation?
    Could anybody be so kind as to tell me how to solve it or if, on the contrary, it is an oc4j bug, please?
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Inma.

    Hi,
    Thanx it is working now.
    BTW can you give me some urls with info of this kind of setting which i need to do for other kind of integarions in J2EE platform.Sorry if i am asking too much as i am a starter in this technology.

  • Invoking Imaging Web Service from BPEL is failing

    Hi,
    My Env is on latest 11g 11.1.1.8.
    I am trying to invoke the Imaging Web Services (http://host:port/imaging/ws/ApplicationService?wsdl)deployed in another Weblogic Server from Bpel. When I tried to invoke this web service with out security credentials it was failing due to access issue.
    I tried invoking  the imaging web service by following below steps.
    Added oracle/wss_http_token_client_policy for Imaging Web service Reference.
    Added these properties in Composite for the reference binding as below.
    <wsp:PolicyReference URI="oracle/wss_http_token_client_policy"

    Hi,
    I don't think it is failing due to access issue, I think it is failing because one of the parts is NOT configured to use WS-AT (WS-Atomic Transactions)...

    Why did you add this?

  • How to invoke a web service asynchronously using ws-addressing model?

    Hi Gurus,
    We are invoking an external web service asynchronously using Oracle Work Flow Business events using the following mechanism -
    1)Created a web service invoker event to invoke the web service.
    2)Created a subscription that invokes the web service (provided the wsdl address, operation info).
    3)Defined a subscription parameter WFBES_CALLBACK_EVENT with value pointing to a recieve event.
    4)Created a receive event(parameter value for WFBES_CALLBACK_EVENT) and a subscription that directs the response to a custom PL/SQL function to process response.
    so far so good. We were able to invoke the web service and get and process the response.
    Problem: The external web service can take upto 10 hrs to process the request. A time out of 2 hrs is set on the server hosting the external web service. So when the external web service takes more than 2 hrs to process the request and it times out and we get the following error on EBS side -
    'l_error_message:oracle.apps.fnd.wf.bes.InvokerException: HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: oracle.j2ee.ws.saaj.ContentTypeException: Not a valid SOAP Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1'
    Now the external web service providers are suggesting that we are not calling their web service asynchronously and we should use ws-addressing model to do so.
    Is there a way to invoke this web service using ws-addressing model using business events or from PL/SQL or OA middle-tier?

    Bharat,
    You dont need a Business Event setup to invoke a BPEL process from PL/SQL unless you have a special case and you need to process the response from the BPEL process in a separate thread (or in background)..
    For a straight call to BPEL process from PL/SQL, here is a sample script -
    function "MYTEST0" return varchar2 AS
    soap_request varchar2(30000);
    soap_respond varchar2(30000);
    http_req utl_http.req;
    http_resp utl_http.resp;
    resp XMLType;
    i integer;
    helpStr varchar2(30000);
    BEGIN
    soap_request:= '<?xml version = ''1.0'' encoding = ''UTF-8''?>
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns:ns0="
    http://xmlns.oracle.com/TestWS">
    <env:Body>
    <ns0:TestWSProcessRequest>
    <ns0:input>abc</ns0:input>
    </ns0:TestWSProcessRequest>
    </env:Body>
    </env:Envelope>
    /* the BPEL process name is TestWS */
    http_req:= utl_http.begin_request
    ( 'http://hostname:7777/orabpel/default/TestWS/1.0'
    , 'POST'
    , 'HTTP/1.1'
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Type', 'text/xml');
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Length', length(soap_request));
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'SOAPAction', 'process');
    utl_http.write_text(http_req, soap_request);
    http_resp:= utl_http.get_response(http_req);
    utl_http.read_text(http_resp, soap_respond);
    utl_http.end_response(http_resp);
    resp:= XMLType.createXML(soap_respond);
    resp:= resp.extract('/soap:Envelope/soap:Body/child::node()',
    'xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"');
    helpStr := '';
    i:=0;
    loop
    helpStr := helpStr || substr(soap_respond,1+ i*255,250);
    i:= i+1;
    if i*250> length(soap_respond)
    then
    exit;
    end if;
    end loop;
    return helpStr;
    END;

  • Creating Web Services in the Portal

    Hi Experts,
    I'm trying to create a Web Service in the portal based on a URL. However I am having some issues with the User Management settings. I've explained below the steps I've followed in order to setup the Web Service and the issue I am having.
    I go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape then I select my folder and right click. I then select New -> System (from template).
    I then select "Web Service System using WSDL URL" and insert the URL for my Web Service. The issue I am then having is that when I access the User Management page I can only choose "NONE" or "UIDPW" as the Logon Method. However, I need to choose SAPLOGONTICKET which should be one of the options but isn't.
    Does anyone know why this last option is not being displayed and how to fix this issue?
    Thank you,
    Kind Regards,
    Ale
