IPad 4 is overheating?

Whenever I use my iPad, it starts to over heat. Any solutions?

Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • IPad Mini adapter overheating in Europe

I am using the iPad Mini in Europe at 220 VAC 50Hz.
The adapter is supposed to work at that voltage fine.
It does charge but gets very hot. Is it still safe?

The apple charger is rated 100V to 240V, 50/60 Hz. You can use it in any country.

  • Ipad mini 16GB overheating under the home button? Is it okay?

My Ipad is heated just under the Home button on using barely 15mins. Is it normal? Does it occur in all other Ipad Mini's frequently? Just purchased it 5 days ago. Do i need to get it checked at the store?

      Can I remove the battery?
No the battery is non removable.
Try a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

  • IPad won't overheated, won't charge and won't turn on

I have booked an appointment at the Genius bar for Friday but I'm not entirely sure what I have to bring/what they will do for me? Do I bring the box and charger and stuff and if I get a replacement is only the device itself replaced. Is it also possible that they will not repiar/replace it at all.

3 beeps at startup means either memory is not seated properly or damaged.

You can openup the computer and reseat the memory or change it.(non-retina model only)

  • Is there anything available that will allow the iPad to be read in direct sun?

Not being able to view or read the iPad in direct sunlight is the only con.  Is apple working on a way to alleviate this problem?

Hi, my company has created a new product that allows one to view and read the iPad in direct sunlight:
Hoodi™ magnetic shades for the iPad® and iPad mini.
Hoodi™ magnetic shades provide iPad privacy and overheating protection in direct sunlight too.

  • IPad Air and problems

      Hi
Bought iPad Air 16GB 18 November and having problems with it already! OH has had the iPad4 (updated to IOS7.0.4) for a year now so I know the comparison re the problems I have with the Air and I'm far from happy with it (both of us happy with the iPad4 however!
Just a couple of details of my set up, used saving battery with tips from Apple so I know it's not that and I don't as yet have a case for my ipad so not overheating.
Problem number one is, I switch on, the Apple logo comes up for several seconds, it then switches to the "slider" screen and IMMEDIATELY switches off. I can't even touch the screen to get to it before it does! I then switch on the on/off button and it works ok after that.
Second problem (comparing with OH's iPad), the average battery use for 45 minutes on mine is 6% down (8% in an hour) and on OH's 1% in 45 minutes - 1 hour. I think mine is losing battery life far too quickly so am asking here for comments/advice/help to see what you think.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
    best wishes

      Hi John,
Thanks for your input on this one. I took the iPad to the Apple store and a very helpful chap did a restore for me at the shop. He said it wasn't right to do what it did (switch into sleep mode) immediately after powering on without even being able to get to the slider "button".
After the restore it was exactly the same and he and his colleagues said they hadn't seen this before. He told me to take it back to where I bought it and get it changed. However because of reading up on certain other problems the Air had which was encountered by others on here (coloured screens etc) as the fault on mine was only the screen switching off into sleep mode I decided not to do anything about changing the iPad at that time. I also wanted to see if the same problem occurred on the one that we bought a family member just before Xmas and it did, it does exactly the same as mine on power up.
Whilst I know it's not right as OH's iPad 4 has never done it (that's why I felt something was wrong with mine), I was prepared to live with it just in case as in your experience, changing it would bring the same problem or other faults that some say they have with the Air.
If I want the slider screen to stay up what I tend to do is, several seconds after switching the iPad on, I press the Home Button a few times and the activation page then stays on screen. No big deal really and as (so far) everything else has been going ok (still not sure about battery but others think it's alright), I'd rather put up with this than encounter different problems.
I hope your new replacement will be ok, if not then I think it could be something to do with some batches have this problem some don't or that it is peculiar just to the Air iPad though the staff at the store don't think it is.....
I'd be interested to know how you get on so please post back to let us know. Thanks for telling me about your experience, will look forward to hearing from you again.
    all the best

  • IPad Air email issues

I have an iPad Air and a Hotmail account. I have issues sending emails with attachments bigger than 500KB?! Sometimes emails with only text are an issue. Why is this??

Can you explain what you mean by "heat issues"? If your iPad Air is overheating under normal use, something is wrong with it. Make an appointment at your local Apple Store.
    Best of luck.

  • IPad Air heat

It has been my experience that when the iPad Air is in extreme brightness mode, setting, it gets very warm. I have had Apple test my iPad twice and each time they have advised me that it is operating according to specifications.
Have others had the same experience.

  • IPhone 4S update to iOS 5.1 singal and battery issues

    Hi,
I was on 5.0.1 and had no issues at all loved the phone and my battery life. Eversince I updated to 5.1 my phone signal is awful, 2 bars when I had 5 before, constantly floating, calls drop for no reason. Yesterday nobody was able to reach me until I restarted my phone. Switched phone on in the morning yesterday and I get no service for around 30 minutes, after restarting 3 times it finally found network.
On o2 got my iphone from Apple unlocked.
As to battery life I can loose around 10-20 % in 2-3 hours not doing anything just in stand by, my battery issues were solved with 5.0.1 but started again with 5.1
What is apple doing? it is to say the least frustrating as ****. Fix one thing then break another, or break 2 while fixing them. It ****** me off.
I tried to restore my phone 7 times already set up as new and still no improvement.
One more interesting issue is when you go to your purchases in App store, and click dowload and app dissapears and then reappears on home screen few minutes later once it is done downloading.
Anyone else with this kind of a issue?

    Honestly guys,
It is either apple is blinded by their immense success which will not last if they keep going the direction they going. They should have more time to test their products thouroughly before they put their production line on overdrive. Company this size ignoring issues like that.
I think new Ipad will have problems as well, it seems this line up 4S and new ipad is kind of transition point to a newer devices and were made just to get something out on the market. Using same CPUs same formfactor.
My problem is I payed a fortune for it and it doesnt perform, I dont pay 600 pounds for a phone because I want to have issues with it. What they are doing is plainly ignoring these problems. Battery issue been going on since the release of the phone, going to be a year soon.
Microsoft and Apple changing places, look like microsoft going the right direction now with Widnows 8 and mobiles where as apple comes up with something like Lion which I hated and now Mountain Lion which plainly is running out of ideas and starting to implement some features from iOS, these are completely different devices. They do not need to be the same, they werent created for the same purprose.
I was on apples side all along but they are blinded by their pride in leading this revolution that they choose to ignore these issues. Relying on peoples stupidity to show off things like ipad 3 is 4x faster than tegra 3 where as in real results it came out 15% faster.
Apple get his fixed before it is too late. Scared to buy your products now!!! Good thing I didnt get iPad looking at overheating issues it is having, and also not charging from cable while in use but draining battery. No thanks

  • Can the usb sync/power cable that came with the iPhone 3g and 4 handle the 2.1 amps drawn by the ipad 2 (if used with the 10w plug) without risk of overheating?

I recently made the mistake of buying a cheap sync cable from a well known auction site becuase I wanted a longer cable than comes in the box for my ipad 2.
Whilst my iPad will sync OK, it takes an age to charge (using the standard 10w plug in the wall). I don't fully understand the science in the cables, but assume it is not a big enough cable to handle the current/2.1 amps?.
If like house wire you send too much current through a cable that is to small for the job it risks overheating and causing a fire.
Does this same principle apply to the iPad power lead?
Anyway back to the question, can I use other leads I have hanging around the house from my previous iphones and ipods to charge my ipad (again still using the 10w plug in the wall) or will the cable in these be too small to handle the 2.1 amps required by the ipad?
I don't want to risk overheating the cables and causing a short to break my beloved iPad 2...!

    Thanks for your replies.
Not sure they entirely answer my question though.
I have used my different cables and can see that they are actually working (charging and syncing etc), but am i using old cable that was not intended to draw 2.1 amps and so may overheat and cause damage in the long run?
Or did apple deliberately over engineer the original cables which were only needed to supply 1 amp and they can actually be used to draw 2.1 amps comfortably?
Whilst the 30 pin connectors and usb points are identical, is the internal cable thickness/awg gauge the same?
    Thanks

  • IPAD Overheating!

The Ipad is a great device with at least one major flaw - it is simply too sensitive to heat. My ipad has shut itself down due to overheating - once while using it for 10 min in the 65 degree sunny spring weather in Boston and the other time without even using it (it was simply sitting in the sun, not even 60 degrees here). We are not talking about extreme heat situations, just a nice sunny day. For some reason, this thing seems to bake. The last time this happened, the case was even closed and the device was OFF! This is in Boston in April! This is going to be a huge problem for Apple once the summer approaches and makes the device all but unusable outside at almost any time you'd want to be outside. For a device that touts itself as an e-reader, this is truly unacceptable.
Unfortunately, I doubt this is addressable in software. A reflective case may help when it's off. In any case, they might as well remove the summer reading selections from the ibooks store since this device will be unusable at the beach or pool for sure!!!

There are at least 10 Apple Stores in Boston. Why don't you walk to one, take your iPad with you, and find out if you have a defective one. They'll replace it.
Out of 750,000 iPads sold so far, maybe 10 people are complaining about heat issues. My suggestion is it's not software, but some issue with your hardware. Go replace it.

  • Overheating, charging new ipad

Could the overheating and terribly-long charging of new ipad (and the apparent non-pervasiveness among new owners) be related to different screen manufacturers (i.e., samsung, sharp, LG...)?

Decided to get an icepad:  http://thermapak.com/products.html/

  • I have the iPad 3 but not the newest version and it is overheating.

Have owned this iPad for at least 5 months and recently it has been overheating. Once it got so hot I could not turn it off.  The touch screen would not work and I could not even turn it off using the switches or buttons( if that is what you call them). I had to put it in the refrigerator for one minute just to cool it down so I could turn it off.

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Restart / Reset

    Backing up, Updating and Restoring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...
