Ipad2 lost Yahoo mail connection. Server unavailable.

It worked fine for a year. Now I keep getting the message 'Cannot get mail - no password provided'. So I go to settings and try to enter my current password (which did recently change). But settings does not let me save the password, instead I get an error message that says 'server unavailable'.
The same Yahoo account worked previously on my ipad, and still works on my iphone.
I know my password, but it won't let me save it.
Any ideas how to get this working again? email is a BIG part of the reason I even have an ipad.

Ann-J I am having the same problem. When I go to iTunes it looks like they have taken away the Yahoo option and you can only get Mail, Contacts and Calendar if you are using Microsoft Outlook. Did Bill Gates pull a fast one on us?!
I too bought this for email and calendar using Yahoo.

My Yahoo mail connection to server failed. I deleted my Yahoo account in my iphone 5s and re-entered details, switch on/off to the phone /turn air plane mode on and off and all these doesn't work. However I found a solution when I googled "Fix problems with yahoo Mail in IOS Mail" and finally do the manual action to add Yahoo Mail to IOS Mail. Below is the instructions given as follows:
If you're unable to add your account to your device using the iOS Mail Wizard (steps above), you can manually enter the Yahoo Mail server info to add your account.
Remove your Yahoo Mail account.
Tap Settings | Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap Add Account | Other | Add Mail Account.
Enter your name, email address, email password, and a description, then tap Next.
Select IMAP, enter the Yahoo Mail IMAP settings, then tap Next.
Set "Mail" to On, then tap Save.
Note: To fulfill the 5th step, click on Apple support page https://www.apple.com/support/mail-settings-lookup/ for Mail Setting Look up. Yahoo mail connectivity issues - Yahoo Server unavailable

I had my Yahoo mail account configured on my iPod touch 4th Gen for over 6 months, suddenly I was prompted to add my "caldav" password and I could not access my mail. I tried so many things to get it working suggested on the internet and forums and eventually deleted the account from the iPod to try and det in working.
I still get "Server unavailable" when setting it up ...... access to email via Safari works OK
1. There is no issues with my Yahoo password.
2. Deleted and re-created my account on the iPod (after power cycle etc)
3. Actually tried another Yahoo account - still no joy
4. Tried adding an account as "Other" using Yahoo's IMAP & SMTP settings to push mail .......... it just says checking for mail
5. Added "other SMTP" server to outgoing mail etc ...... using smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Nothing seems to work. Anybody any ideas? This is the most frustrating thing I have ever known .............

It gets even stranger ....... although my Yahoo account won't actual connect to the Yahoo mail servers via iOS mail client and it does not have the ability to receive emails, I can select a photo image and select "email photo" the standard iOS client send email screen is displayed and I can send the image and subject with text to any email address and it is received OK. When I load the iOS mail client and go into sent items the email is there to confirm it was sent via the client.
I still can't pull email and but can send directly from the client itself, after the email is sent I receive the following :-
Cannot get mail
No password provided for "Yahoo!".
Please go to your mail account settings and enter a password
Of course I have tried entering the valid password, but it just gets rejected with the usual "Server unavailable"
Madness ... it must be a corruption of the local Mail client surely? Anyone seen this before and how to fix?

Yahoo mail SMTP server connection to NZ? - WTF?

Having lots of trouble getting yahoo mail accounts to work. I noticed that when I input a Yahoo account and then check the SMTP server that the Playbook is assigning I get:
SEND.XTRA.CO.NZ
ummmm, as they say WTF? Why in the world would I be wanting to connect through some server in New Zealand?

But you can configure programs like Outlook Express to see your yahoo mails .
Isn't it the same thing ? No it's not the same thing.
Most of the 'free' mail services might allow you to access them via the POP3 and IMAP protocols to view your mail (and send), this is not the same as access the SMTP service.
APEX sends mails via the SMTP service, if Yahoo don't allow you to access their SMTP service (which they don't appear to allow, I checked) then you're not going to be able to do it.

E-mail connection server often lost

Sometimes my boss iPad2 mail stop syncing and send me a message "Unable to connect to the server".
If I change something in the mail configuration (for example some description) and save, the mail restart syncing.
If I turn off and turn on the iPad2 the mail start syncing.
I also notice that, in the same wi-fi area and with the same mail server, my iPad mail work without any problem. The mail configuration are the same of my boss iPad2.

Normally a new device on a BES would require a new activation to the BES, and a new password from the BES Admin, however they are all set differently with varying permission--and BES is not my forte anyway. But in moving your information and preferences from the old device to the new, via Desktop Manager, you could have transferred the settings.

Yahoo mail connection issue on iPhone4s iOS6

I have recently updated my iPhone software to iOS6. Now I am unable to connect to the yahoo server on my mobile phone. The error that I get is: "apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com" is not responding. check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incomimg mail Server" field. I have the correct information and no matter what I have tired nothing seems to work.
Please advise.

After further investigation, this appears to be an issue with Mail that hasn't been fixed by Apple yet. There's a ton of people experiencing the same issue as you. Some have been able to fix it via updating OSX to the latest build, but others continue to have the issue even after that. Moving accounts to Outlook seems to be the only stable solution, but that may not be what you're looking for. For now, either make it a habit to close out of Mail before sleeping or restart it after waking to fix this. As a more streamlined workaround, if you log off before closing your lid, when you log back in, the system will automatically reopen all your programs that were running before if you leave that option checked. I know it's not what you want as well, but at least this way you don't have to do the restart of the app yourself.

Mail connection server failed

I connected my Gmail account to my I Phone 4S yesterday and it worked perfectly. Today when I click on mail, i get an error "Cannot Get Mail...The Conection to the server failed". I tried deleting and re adding my mail account several times and nothing works. Does anyone know how to resolve tis error?

Can you access the account on another device:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
-Go to Settings>Mail>the account and turn it off and then back on
- Go to Settings>Mail the account and delete the account and reenter the settings.

Lost Yahoo email connect

I had yahoo email working at 1st and was recieving emails fine. Now it says connot login. Deleted account and tried to set back up and it say authencation failed check ID and Password. I know my email ID and password are correct as I can log on my laptop plus I have had them for years. Tried manuel setup and IMAP is the set that the android server uses. I at a lost to why it worked and then just quit

Lost internet & mail connection

Last week I have been unable to connect to the internet and get mail from my iMac. I have an AE set up and my PC is able to connect fine. When I called my cable provider they told me my iMac was not getting an IP address.
Any suggestion on how to fix this?
Looking at my network set up I have "Sharea single IP address (using DHCP and NAT) selected and I am using address 10.0.1.1 selected

I am not sure if this is option you are looking for but I have Distributed IP addresses selected and also the option share a single IP address using DHCP and NAT(use 10.0.1.1 addressing.
when I goto system preferences -> network -> I get the below three status:
1. AirPort is connected to the newwork Apple Network . You are connected to the internet via AirPort.
2. Built-in-Ethernet is currently active and has the IP address 10.0.1.4
3. Internal Modem is not set up.
And yes I have the modem plugged into the dotted circles.

Ipad2 lost w-fi connection and i cant get it back, help!!

I've got a problem with my ipad2. Since last weekend its stopped being able to connect to the internet. Every time i try to connect it says 'unable to join network'. I've tried resetting the router, and the ipads network settings, and rebooting the ipad itself. I also tried turning the wi-fi off in ipad settings then turning off the ipad. When i rebooted the ipad, it had automatically turned the wi-fi back on, and as before it says 'not connected'. Attempting to join my network with password brings up 'cannot connect to network'. And nothing works. My laptop (using same wi-fi) and PC connect and can get online just fine and all the router lights are green. My router is a Netgear DG834G. Any ideas?

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Yahoo Server unavailable

My daughter had her yahooo account hacked last night so today we changed her password. Went into change her password on her IPOD and it keeps coming up Server Unavailable pleasy try again later. then after that i get "the Operation couldn't be completed. (MFMessageErrorDomain error 1032)
We have been trying now for 9 hours.
I have tried the following
Deleting the account settings on the Ipod. clearing safari Resetting the ipod. then setting the account up from scratch
resetting up the accounts manually using Imap.mail.yahoo.com and imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com and mail.yahoo.com (no calendars or contacts so not a suitable solution. and caldav doesnt work)
i can get in from a PC, Kindle Fire and using the Ipod Safari page no problems.
IOS is 6.1.2 and it all worked fine yesterday.
anyone able to shed any further light on this.

and before any smart alec says search the forums i have done. and its not a yahoo issue as my Ipad mail and my Sons IPOD mail clients get mail from yahoo fine.

I have been looking at a similar issue for over a week, this most frustrating thing I have every known and the lack of support or answers is amazing. It has to be an iOS issue, but I haven't managed to fix it yet.

Just glad I use Android OS devices ......... as the iPod is my daughters.

Mail connection to server failed

On both my iphone 5 and ipad 2 retina I'm having trouble accessing my mail. It says that connection to server failed. I've done research and I have deleted my yahoo account in my mail settings but unfortunately I can't even re-put my info in because there is still a "connection fail". I am so frustrated! I had my email a few days ago and all of a sudden I cannot access it. I have rebooted my devices several times and even closed all my apps including the mail app. Now since I can't even get my yahoo account verified in mail settings I am stuck at a dead end. Yahoo Mail Plus and Mail

I just setup my yahoo mail plus with MAIL in my new macbook. When i open mail, it download the entire emails from yahoo mail's server... i dont want this because it take ages to download.
how can i retrieve " new and unread" email only?

Since this is the first time that Mail has connected to Yahoo!, all email there is "new and unread", so it will download everything. The only way around that is for you to delete everything you've already read previously, then connect with Mail and download the remaining email.
At the same time, you need to setup Mail to delete the messages from the Yahoo! servers immediately after it downloads them to Mail.
