Iphone 3G no longer shows charging or recognized by PC

Iphone 3G 3.1.2 no longer shows to be charging when connected to my PC or to a wall outlet. The computer does not recognize it at all, tried putting it into DFU and still, no recognition. What I've discovered is, that it does actually charge when plugged in, just doesnt show to be. Like, I get no lightning bolt when plugged in. I let the phone stay on until it died, ofcourse once I powered it on, I got the black screen with the red battery, so when I plugged it in to the PC, I got the lightning bolt and the phone turned on. Still doesnt show to be charging once inside the Iphone's OS. I thought it might have been a faulty dock connector, so i bought another and replaced it, nothing changed. I have 2 other iphones and they work perfectly fine with the same cable and same computer. I thought maybe a restore would do something, but I cant even get the PC to recognize it, so thats out of the question. Does anybody know what it might be? The only thing I can see is a faulty mainboard...

I have the same problem. Mine was water damaged though. The indicators inside the Iphone are red but not the charger port or earphone jack ones. I don't get anything when I plug it in. I swapped the charging port also and nothing.

After changing contact photo on iPhone, photo no longer shows up in outlook

I had my contact photos all setup on my iphone, and syncing correctly with iTunes and showing up correctly in Outlook 2007. The photos are stored on the iPhone, and set either by selecting the photo and doing "Assign to Contact", or in Contacts, Edit, Edit (the picture) and "Choose Photo". They would show up as a thumbnail in the Outlook 2007 Business Card view, and also in the detail when you double-click a contact. This part of the process hasn't changed.
What has changed is iOS4. Now, when I go in and change a contact's photo on the iPhone, it no longer shows up correctly in Outlook 2007. It shows a blank space when showing the Business card view, but shows the photo correctly in the detail if I double-click a contact. Even if I change it back to the photo that it was, it still won't show correctly in Outlook 2007 Business Card view.
Contacts whose photos I haven't changed since iOS4 show correctly in both places in Outlook 2007.
Anyone else seeing this or have a fix?

the following solution:

First, some figures:
iPhone camera resolution: 1600×1200 (72dpi)
iPhone screen resolution: 320×480 (160dpi)
iPhone contact picture display size: 64×64 (160dpi)
iPhone contact picture display size on call: 320×270 (160dpi)
Outlook import resolution: 72×96 (72dpi)
- On your PC, resize the image contact to 320×320 (160dpi),
knowing that 25 pixels on the top and bottom will be semi-transparent when on call.
- On your PC, create a folder iPhone Photos\Contacts and move your contact photos inside Sync the photos into your iPhone with iTunes through the Photos tab.
- Select the iPhone Photos folder as source.
- Manually associated the photo to your contact on the iPhone
(Edit ->Add Photo->Choose Existing Photo)
- Sync back the iPhone with iTunes.
The photos will be associated automatically into Outlook with the good resolution this time.

How Come My iPhone 3G No Longer Shows Up Nor Charges in iTunes??

All of a sudden my iPhone 3G doesn't show up in the iTunes sidebar on my 20" iMac, but using the same cable, it does on my MacBook's iTunes. I have tried plugging it in directly to the iMac as well as to my Belkin hub, but it no longer shows up in iTunes, nor does it charge when plugged it. The iPhone stays dark when first plugged into the iMac now. I have restarted the iMac a few times, I have powered the iPhone on and off, and I have reset the iPhone more than once....... all with no change. However, the iPod now does show in the sidebar and on the Desktop, and it charges now after the iMac restarts were done. All the software is updated on both computers and on the iPhone 3G. Does anyone have any other suggestions to try. The iPhone 3G works in every other way as usual.

hi John, i have my doubt that it has something to do with authorization/deauthorization. I have read somewhere before that the iPhone (not sure about iPod) can only be "paired" with one mac and if you want to synch it with another one, you need to deauthorize the initial one first. Inside iTune up on its menu bar under Store, there are 2 options that said authorize and deauthorize. Now i haven't tried this before as i only got myself one mac, so i have no past experience here with this particular case. May be some other experienced users can shed some light on this and share with us, before you try out?

All of a sudden my iPhone doesn't show up in the iTunes sidebar on my 20" iMac, but using the same cable it does on my MacBook. Does anyone know why when plugging in the iPhone 3G or my iPod Classic (old school) it won't load on the side bar of iTunes? It is like it does not exist. I have done all updates. I restarted my computer a couple of times and finally got the iPod Classic to load but still the iPhone 3G shows nothing. It won';t even boot my phone up to charge it but will the iPod.
I use the iPhone on my MackBook with the same cord and it loads to iTunes and starts to sync. Same with the iPod. Both computers are running the same software. Since it works on the MacBook and use to work on then iMac G5 I am thinking it may have something to do with the updates for iTunes. I use the MacBook to charge the iPhone and iPod sometimes but the main computer for syncing is the iMac. Only nothing seems to work. After restarting the iMac several times the iPod seems to work then not work. I am frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

IPhone 3GS no longer shows in Find my iPhone

I just up dated my iPhone 5, 4S, and iPad 2 to iOS 7, now my 3GS (ipod use only) no longer shows in the Find my iPhone device listing. Any ideas why this may be?

Built in iSight camera no longer showing up or recognized by iMac

Hello there - I have a white 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with a built in iSight camera, and the camera is no longer showing up, or is not recognized by the computer any longer. Very strange! The little green LED by the camera is not lit any longer, and the camera is not recognized any longer by Photo Booth, iChat AV, or any of the other apps that would use the camera. This is a real pain, because I am leaving for France in a couple days and am taking my MacBook Pro with me, and am hoping that I can use iChat AV to talk to my kids at home on the iMac. I do have an extra iSight camera that I have hooked up to the iMac and can use in a pinch, but I really want to use the built in camera on the iMac. Any hints / ideas / suggestions on what to do for this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No, unfortunately that did not help. I did the following...
1. See if the issue is application-specific. - Nope. Camera is not recognized in any of the apps that it should be recognized in, I tested iChat AV, PhotoBooth, ImageCapture, and iMovie.
2. See if the issue is user-specific. - There's only one user account on this Mac, so I couldn't do that.
3. Find out if the computer recognizes the iSight. I went into System Profiler and checked the USB profiler, and the camera does not show up.
4. Reset SMC or PMU. These just looked like different ways of restarting, which I did multiple times.
I have also run my Software Updates (on OS 10.5, which I did with a clean install from an OS 10.5 DVD by the way) and still no camera. This problem started happening with the original OS 10.4 (which it came with) and I was hoping a clean install of the OS would help, but no.
I'm wondering if resetting the PRAM might help, but I can't remember those keys you hold down while restarting (was it Apple-Option-P-R ?) or if that is just reaching waaaaay back to the pre OSX days.
Here's the kicker though - if I plug in a FireWire iSight camera, all is well. I'm really hoping that the camera isn't jsut dead, but it's starting to look that way. Would Disk First Aid or maybe DiskWarrior help?

My Iphone 4s no longer shows the symbol Airplay after the download of IOS7

My Iphone 4S was working properly with the operating system IOS 6.1.4. Then I have loaded the IOS 7 and so far it no longer shows the AirPlay Symbol.
I have loaded at my Iphone 4S the software 1.3.2. with no help. My Airport Express box has a software version 7.6.4.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

iOS 7 moved the AirPlay icon to Control Center.
To show Control Center, make sure your Home screen is displayed (press the Home button once), then swipe up from the bottom.

HT5868 After updating to ios 7, my iphone is no longer showing as a storage device in Windows 7

Priot to updating my iphone 5 to ios 7, my device showed up in My Computer as a device and I simply copied a bunch of photos to Windows 7 and then deleted them from my iphone in the Windows folder. After the ios update, my phone is no longer showing as a Device with Removable Storage on my computer. I restarted my computer and also clicked the trust this computer option on my phone. (Synching with itunes works perfectly so I know the connection is ok) Any ideas?

I Just found it on the apple site, it arrived on a cd a few days later and worked just fine again.
i would recommend backing everything up just in case. Better safe than sorry, trust me. I've lost so much when i didnt back up once when re-installing the system.

This is absolutely ridiculous and frustrating. As soon as I made a software update a couple of things happened: My PC very rarely finds my iPhone when it's plugged in via USB (and yes, the USB cord works just fine). 2) Songs that were on my iPhone are no longer available for me to play because *GASP* I didn't purchase them from Apple! (OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG) for whatever reason they aren't identified in Match or whatever it's called... So therefore I no longer get to listen to it via my iPhone. When did this all start? As soon as I upgraded my software. Wow, I'm so frustrated and livid right now it's insane. I can't wait until I get a new phone. Never purchasing another Apple product again. This is just insane.

This message papers when iTunes can't find the songs in the location they used to be. If you moved them, or is connected the external drive they're on, move them back to their original location, or onnect the drive before starting iTunes.

Recently viewed iPhone photos no longer showing up in iPhoto. How can I retrieve them? Their disappearance might be due to a software update I was promoted to do.

Recent photos from my iPhone no longer appear in my iPhoto library, or at least I can't find them. I just looked at them in iPhoto yesterday or the day before. Baffling. Photos from my other device (camera) do show up okay, although the "Last 12 months" folder does not show anything more recent that August. The only thing I can think of that has changed is that I accepted a prompt for a software upgrade for my macbook earlier today. It might have had something in it that affected iPhoto (?). I have an EHD backup via time machine. Not sure how to get individual photos off of that, however.
Any ideas re. causes or solutions? Some precious photos in that missing batch.

Installed iTunes 8 and iPhone 3G no longer shows up in devices

I installed Leopard and iTunes 8 today and now when I connect my iPhone 3G to my MacBook Pro it doesn't show up in iTunes' devices. I've restarted the MacBook Pro several times and tried reconnecting the iPhone each time, but still can't get it to mount and/or be recognized. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!

No solution yet but wanted to post additional information. It's very strange how this all of sudden starting happening and how inconsistent the non-connection is. Essentially, when I plug my iPhone to my Mac Pro, no device shows up in iTunes and therefore no sync; however, if I just leave it connected it seems to magically start after so many minutes. Using Activity Monitor, I noticed the AppleMobileDevice (think that is right) service was not starting up upon connecting my iPhone. I just kept AM open and after about 5mins or so, the service started and my iPhone starting its sync. So I think the right definition of my problem is not that my iPhone doesn’t show up in iTunes but that there is a delay before it shows up and that the delay seems will vary. Very strange. I’ll keep testing and report back.

I've been using my iphone's data to connect to the internet on my pc and my ipad for ages. The last few weeks, it kept dropping out and I had to turn personal hotspot off and on again to reconnect. Yesterday however, a new problem arose. I turn the hotspot on and both my pc and my ipad are not even showing my iphone as an option to use as a wireless internet connection. I have reset netowrk settings'' but the problem persists. Any help greatly appreciated!
