IPhone 4 says it sent a text message, but it turns out it never sent the message?

So sometimes when I'm texting someone, my phone isn't sending the messages. It's not like it telld me mesage not sent, it says it sent it, then no one ever responds. And about 5 hours later when someone questions me on it, it turns out they never got the message? i feel like no one else is having this problem and it gets very annoying because i never know if my phone is sending a message or not because it tells me it does. Can anyone help me with this issue? Thanks.

This is a problem either with your carrier or theirs (or the interconnect between the 2). If the iPhone can't successfully send the message, you will be notified. Once it gets from the phone to the cell tower, it's in the carrier's hands.
Call your carrier and/or have them call theirs.

Yes if the messages are sent to an ID which is in the receive section of Settings > Messages > Send and Receive on both devices.

If you're experiencing any of the following symptoms:
You are unable to receive SMS on your non-Apple device when sent from another person using an iPhone.
You are unable to send SMS to a non-Apple device because they are sent as an iMessage.
You'll want to follow these steps:
The cellular phone number may still be registered with iMessage. iMessage is registered with your cellular telephone number when you turn it on with your iPhone. If you want to deregister your phone number:
Tap Settings > Messages and turn iMessage off
If you still cannot deactivate iMessage after you perform the steps above, or if you no longer have access to the iPhone, please contact Apple support for assistance.

The ability to see and send calendar invites is a function of the calendar you are subscribing to and who owns it. We need more information, like what calendar are you subscribing to? MS Exchange? Google? Mobile Me?

you can use the same itunes id for purchases and so on, but have separate icloud id's for imessaging and all the icloud stuff. it's not preferable, but it isn't a problem either.

You can send a message through an email gateway so that it appears as a text on someone's phone. However, it's not their regular address. For example, for a Verizon customer, it would be [email protected] Perhaps that's what you're thinking of?

For Instagram you can try and uninstall and reinstall the app and see if that fixes it. But if not you can try and resetting all settings, Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.

You can not retrieve a deleted message that was not synced.
There are data recovery services that "may" be able to retrieve the message.
These recovery services can cost $1000 or more though.

I know this is much later but if anyone else has this problem I think I've found the solution, the problem is the obvious SIM Card, you may need to activate your sim card on your carriers website! I am with Orange EE and that's the verdict for me! Hope this helps P.S. I've had the same problem x

Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both of your phones; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address on one of your devices, on the other phone tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID (so both phones are using a different Apple ID for iMessage). Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores. It does not need to be the same as the ID you are using for iMessage, FaceTime and other services.

IPhone to Galaxy S4 not receiving text messages

I recently switched from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S4. Now when I send a text message to an iPhone user, they are receiving my text messages but I can only get their responses on my iPad (iMessaging). Anyone know how I can correct this to get their responses on my new Galaxy S4?

i recently switched from iphone to droid maxx and i FINALLY figured it out. everyone was telling me to unregister it from icloud, itunes, apple. going to apple support was 0 help and verizon 0 help. it shouldn't have to be this way, but all i did was change the password on my apple ID and i started receiving messages again from iphone users. i hope this helps someone because everyone complaining about the issue isn't helping those who need it fixed. obviously verizon, apple and droid need to have a talk.
