Iphone 5 cuts subject from photo images. Is there a way to recover photos otherwise useless?

Reviewing photos taken from a recent concert, the iphone 5 camera has not taken picture from the same image shown through viewfinder. Video recording is fine, however apart from maybe 5 photos taken from approx 50 every photo has cut the main subject out of the photo leaving once in a lifetime photo's otherwise useless! Is there a program or way to recover the original photo's taken as seen through my viewfinder or am I stuck with photos of no importance whatsoever?

Not technically inclined it took me an hour to post this question and it still says Leopard, Mac osx 10.5.4 under my thanks. I have Maverick now, but couldn't find how to change that, sorry!!

The Lion upgrade does not touch iPhoto. However, you may need to purchase an iPhoto upgrade.
Look in your /Home/Pictures/ folder for the iPhoto Library file.

No.

No. To remove a forgotten restrictions passcode requires restoring the device as "New" in iTunes, NOT from backup.

I am hoping that someone can help me understand how it can be so easy to lose the last 2 years data on an iphone by synching to itunes for the first time since 2012? If this happens from itunes automatically overwriting your phones system why would'nt there be warnings and red sirens going off on your phone? Glad to help! The reply you got was very generic and didn't completely address your questions.
Basically, all it said was to restore your backup. What I addressed was your query about how and why this happened. iTunes did give you prompts and warnings. And if you'd used iTunes back in 2012, then you'd have lost much less data when you made the incorrect selection.
Do you have an iCloud backup? Were you backing up your device at all?
I just found it amusing that you were 'ticked off at Apple' when Apple didn't cause this problem. You did.

I think I lost them, I did it from the Mail application but the Mailbox were certainly located in the server ( under ON MY SERVER) window. Moreover, Time machine was off.
So no chance of calling the internet service provider? or apple?

Now if you could stop whining for a minute... do you sync the device with your computer regularly as it is intended? If so, simply restore the device to a backup created after the video was made but before it was deleted. The video will "magically" re-appear.

Also to add to what Ana said, if you've been importing http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 to your computer as you would a digital camera. Then you can sync http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236 them back to your phone using iTunes.

Did the restore complete?
If you backed up the phone to either computer or to the cloud you should be able to retrieve them. If the restore is done, try retrieving info from the iCloud. If the restore did not complete, when you do the restore, at the end you can restore from previous backup.

The Camera Roll is for temporary storage as with any other digital camera. Although photos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, photos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer ASAP. If you didn't sync your iPhone with iTunes since these photos were captured by your iPhone and the photos in the Camera Roll weren't imported by your computer, the photos are gone.
Depending on how wealthy you are, you can contact a data recovery service to see if they can recover deleted photos from an iPhone's flash drive, but you will pay an arm and a leg for this. Such a data recovery service is not cheap and with no guarantee the data will be recoverable.

It sounds like you are using an application to import. You can do it manually.
Start > Computer (on the right) > scroll to the bottom and you will see your iPhone under Portable Devices > Open it and you will see a Drive, open that and there will be a DCIM folder. That is where your photos will be (There may be other folders each holding photos).

A software or even open it? It is very important for me get back the messages sent on December. I did not have a back up at that time, at least that I know, but I change my iPhone and had as I got a micro chip, I could take my contacts from iTunes.

Thanks for replying - no, I had not done a backup since the shots were taken and then attemped to put them in an album as I did not want to change the enviornment of the phone from when I had inadvertently delted them. Unfortunatlely, when asked "Do you want to delete these photos from all locations," I hit yes and they were also deleted from my Photostream.

If ou have been importing them to your computer regularly as the iphone is desgned then they will be on your computer.
You may be able to restore from backup if they were there when you last synced.
