Iphone and file locations

Does anyone know how files are laid out on the iPhone? Basically, if build an app that can process an XML file transferred from (I assume) iTunes, how do I look up the file? I've never used iTunes + iPhone, so I'm a little confused on how to find files transferred over, and there isn't a real example on the developer site. How would this work in the simulator, such that I could put this together now.
Basically, I have an XML file with some data in it that should reside on the local filesystem. I will parse the file, and when a table view window pops up, it has the contents laid out. Where would the XML file live?

Your application is "sandboxed" into it's own directory structure. You can't access iTunes files or any other apps files.
This is covered under "The Application Environment" in the iPhone OS Programming Guide.

i lost my iphone and reset it all through find my iphone and after locating it and getting it back i can not turn the phone back on how can i fix this

Unless you had enabled Find My iPhone on it before it was lost then there isn't any way to locate it (it can only be turned on directly on the phone, it can't be done remotely). If you did enable it then you could try locating it either via http://icloud.com on a computer or Find My iPhone on another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPhone disabled on it.
If you think that it was stolen then you should report it to the police. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

  • IPhone OS File location

Does anyone know how to find the iPhone OS file folder? Not sure which library it's in. I'm trying to extract some voicemails from the phone and saw a post on this. Does the phone have to be plugged in to find them?
    Thanks,

This link provides the location where your iPhone's backup is stored, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process.

  • Lightroom workflow - HD setup and file locations

Has anyone waxed poetic about catalog and image file locations or workflow? How do you go about conceptualizing a drive and file storage strategy for a Lightroom workflow? Of course this will vary depending on the equipment you have, but I'd appreciate and links to stories that run through various configuration setups and the possible workflows and locations for catalog, master files and backup locations. Here's my setup:
    - Mac Pro (3GHz 8 Core) with two 750GB internal drives (one for OS X) the other for Apps and content storage); two empty drive bays for now.
    - PowerBook G4 1.2GHz w/160GB internal drive that I use on location, or as an in-lab Flash card reader if the Addonics external, Firewire card reader attached to the Mac Pro fails to see a camera card (as it sometimes does). This second in-lab scenario adds some complexity to the workflow, although the machines are linked with Cat 6, gigabit Ethernet.
    - OWC Mercury Elite Pro with two 750GB drives configured as a mirrored, software RAID on Firewire 800 for backups.
Should I set up the Lightroom catalog on the internal "content" drive and store all the actual image files there, reserving the RAID drive strictly for backups? This would mean that the RAID would only be used a redundant backup system (which is fine and what I originally planned) since it's probably slower than the single, internal drive. The problem is this: remembering to back up the files from the main content drive to the software RAID drive.
Or should I be using the slower, mirrored RAID for main content (master image file and catalog) storage.

    John, Andrew and others:
Thanks for your thoughts. Do you also use Lightroom to manage all "working" versions of Photoshop files (multiple version - edits - of files in progress)?
During my first couple of projects, I ended up creating a "Working" folder for each project outside the Nikon folder-oriented hierarchy of the original image files. I did this only out of habit rather than workflow planning, but ended up with a second workflow outside of Lightroom.
Does anyone think it's better to simply save these files (with or without the "working" folders) into the same folder hierarchy with all the Nikon originals? I'm just trying to figure out how to organize the workflow for the in-progress files.
Again, before Lightroom, I managed these files in separate folders on the hard drive, and usually moved them to a new location for final storage. Clearly, that won't work for Lightroom, but what does? I'm getting into a bit of trouble trying to manage file (and working folder) locations as I try to transition to a new, database-driven workflow.

  • Spotlight searches and file location

Why does Spotlight no longer tell me where the file is located? It did in system 10.4 and in ML it doesn't. What use is that?

Don't know. In 10.4 you just hover the cursor over the file/folder name (in the search list) and its location appears. Now in 10.8.5, you can hover over til the cows come home and no information other than how large it is and when last modified.
Why have a search engine that doesn't tell location? LOL This is the worst system I have seen in my 20+ years of Apple ownership.

  • ITunes 10.5 iphone backup file location

    Hi,
Trying to backup my backup file for my iPhone before a total wipe of my phone.
Does anybody know where the backup file is located on my Macbook? I thought there was a mobilesync folder but i cant seem to find it anymore... Running 10.7.1 on Mac too.
    Thanks

This is an update to my original post...
I was able to install iTune 10.5 finally, but Apple Mobile Device Support will still not install (update actually). I restored my PC to an earlier state (before I first tried to install 10.5 the first time) and now my older version will not start since my iTunes library has been upgraded to the 10.5 format. I am really stuck here. I really want to get me music back since I have nearly 30 Gbs of music and movies I have burned from CDs. That does not even include my iTunes online purchases that I can easily revover/re-download.

  • Exporting to Media Encoder and file locating issue

Ok, Now I've read a LOT of threads trying to find a solution to this but none of them have answered my problem exactly, so here's what I have:
Running a New computer with a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit and Adobe CS4 Master Suite
    Hardware:
    Dell Precision M6400
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU  T9900 @ 3.06 Ghz, 3.07 Ghz
    12.0 GB Ram
Premiere ran fine for a while, but soon I've run into a problem where I try to export to the Media Encoder and I keep getting the error:
"Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted"  over and over
I have deleted recently imported media one at a time to try and locate what's causing it since it wasn't doing this before, but no luck.  So I restarted the program but now the Premiere project won't open.  The task bar loads until about 2/3 in and stops there indefinitely, I've left and came back to it 2 hours later and it hadn't moved.  I back tracked and found a previous save that will open, but it still will not export, it still says "Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted".  And as soon as I update anything and save a new file that one will not open either.
I've tried recompressing each video file into a format I know works well with Premiere but still no difference.
This problem has plagued my workflow for a while now and I can't take it anymore.  I've had to restart clean project files to try to work around it but I lose so much progress, and the work around by rendering the premiere file through After effects hasn't worked either.  The error I get there says "Dynamic link server is busy".
Here's what the problem is not:  It is not because I uninstalled CS3 or any other previous version, I've never had it on this computer.  It's not a plugin problem, I don't have any plugins on this install except for the default ones that Came with Adobe Master Suite for Premiere Pro.
Someone please help me, this is ridiculous that I have had to trouble shoot the program this much.  Both CS4 and Windows 7 have been around for over a year now and neither are in Beta Editions

Wow, sorry, forgive me if I've seen most forums work with a lot less, and your dismissiveness led me to assume you hadn't read my post.
All of this is new and up do date as far as Adobe and Windows updates go, that's Version 4.2.1.
My projects for this are all in NTSC Widescreen DV 24P, the particular sequence that I render from is in that format as well, although regardless of which one I use the problem keeps occurring.
My renders for my recent purposes have been compressed in .h264, IPOD video Large.  The codec I'm rendering in also doesn't seem to matter, because I've tried this in .avi., .mov, .h264, .wav, etc. and all with various settings that I thought might help, but the encoder quits encoding 4 seconds in and gives me the error that it can't find the media.
And I didn't mention the media type and what not because it seems irrelevent of what I use this problem keeps happening.  I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the project file or perhaps the media encoder or both.
And I don't know what you mean by "disks"
Do I have a Raid set up on my hard disk?  No, I have two 0.5 TB hard drives, Programs on one (C:\) Projects on the other (D:\).
What address am I saving the scratch disks to?  I use the default of "same as Project".  Have I tried Clearing it?  Yes.
    I don't think I'm getting at what you're asking.
And I don't think I've ever used an .xlsm (which is excel?) file and I've definitely never used a Power point project (PPS?) file in my projects.  And they open in their respective programs, although I'm not sure why you asked about that.  Again I'm not sure I know what you mean.
The Premiere Project (.prproj) file is what I'm trying to open when the progress bar stops at 2/3 the way through and forces me to terminate the process with the task manager to close it.
It would help to mention that all my projects are animated and I use premiere to cobble them together, so no problems that relate to transferring media from a camera to the computer would apply here.  Most of the files I get out of Maya are in Default .avi or .mov files, and I also use a handful of .wav files for the dialogue and .jpgs for cards and placeholders.
I believe that this problem began when I updated a few of the files in my project, but I've been doing that for weeks without incident.  I've been updating them by saving over the old media file with the updated one of the same name, length, and type.
I don't work exclusively with Premiere, in fact it's not what I usually use, that would be Final Cut Pro.

  • Need to know how to remove ALL previous Outlook settings in Registry and file locations (cross posted)

Problem: I cannot get a newly installed Outlook 2013 to connect to the [online Office 365] server with old [non-domain] logon profile. That is my issue, and what I'd like to fix. (There's some services and settings on the old profile
that cannot be easily duplicated. Also, I'm just enough annoyed by this to ask for suggestions.)
Background: I upgraded an existing Office 2007 install of several years back to Office 2013 on an continuously used [non-domain] user profile (I needed connections to several Exchange accounts at various domains I remotely admin
and was tired of logging on through OWA, so it was time to upgrade). Up to Sunday last, I have never had issues with Outlook and Office 365 connections to that account; upgrading Office 2013 "killed" my outlook.office365.com connection to emails.
Testing: I created a new [non-domain] logon profile, and Outlook 2013 connects to my outlook.office365.com account just fine with the new logon profile. To repeat:
there were NO connectivity issues in connecting to my Office 365 account in the
new [test] logon profile with Outlook 2013, and using Outlook 2013 on the new [non-domain] profile.
The problem is profile specific, to an older existing profile (I'd like to use).
Just FYI: my [vanity] domain tests just fine with the Exchange 365 online tools. Office 365 works. OWA works. Outlook 2013 works (in the new logon profile). Mobile devices work.
There are no major problems with the domain name in MXToolbox, or Microsoft Remote Connectivity Tester. Both Windows and Office are fully patched on my workstation. There's no malware.
The problem is something in my older logon profile. Something somewhere locally to that logon and/or Outlook-specific profile is keeping it from logging into the [Office 365] mail server. I just get the typical "cannot connect to
    the server" error.
What's Needed: So what I need is a link to a webpage (or pages) that details ALL [existing] Outlook/Exchange settings that are profile specific ...so I can
manually remove them from the Registry, from the drive, etc.
...something on the order of "...remove all profiles under
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem" and "...delete all files in
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook" (neither of which fixed the issue, whatever the real issue may be ...but that's all I found so far that seemed pertinent). Anyways, "stuff"
    like that.
Alternatively, if someone knows what Registry keys, other settings, etc., I can export/import from the test logon profile to my "real" logon profile(s), that would be worth a shot, and greatly appreciated.
Or maybe just some google search suggestions that might find the above links (listing error message contents hasn't been useful: too many hits).
Me: I'm a sys admin with over 30 years experience. I'm not looking for suggestions on how to set up an Exchange account, or an Office 365 account, or to setup a new mail profile or logon profile (or to remove either of those), or to add
a new email account (manually or with auto-discover), or to remove an old account. None of that applies and/or has worked in this case.
Thanks in advance for your interest. I really need a knowledgeable wizard, since I'm looking for a solution to a complex issue. My own googling and troubleshooting has just turned up the usual noob' stuff. At this point, I'm at a loss. The well is dry.
    Update:
This question is cross-posted from the general "answers" forum (at the suggestion of a moderator).
    Update: I also came across
this page of "advanced" Outlook settings (and it hasn't helped so far, either).

I too, for over 30 days have been trying to find an answer as my situation is as similar as it gets.  I too have tried all and everything as you have.
How I wish there would have been an answer to your question.  It would have answered mine as well.
Seems typical to microsoft "help" unless it is the usual noob response and/or "more clarification" (I with no tech degree understood exactly what you refer to) the only response is well, just no response......

  • Lost my iPhone and why doesn't find my iPhone work

Lost my iPhone and why doesn't find my iPhone work

A friendly reminder: In order to use Find My IPhone Successfully, you need to 1. Turn on Location Services, 2. Lock Location Services (Using Restrictions in Settings, General, Restrictions) so that if some one else finds your IPhone, they can NOT turn off Find My IPhone And/Or Location Services itself! 3. Add your Mobile Me and/Or ICloud Account to your IPhone. 4. Lock Accounts (Again in Restrictions) from being changed or Deleted so that your Mobile Me And/OR ICloud Account can NOT be Deleted! 5. Look Up the Location of your IPhone Before Suspending Service to the IPhone, NOT after Suspending Service (simple common since applies here as well).

  • When I open my computer I receive the following message: The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint couldnot be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll How can this be corrected?  I never got this message before and I have a iPhone and iPad

When opening Windows 7 I'm receiving the following message The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll.......I have never rec'd this before............I have a iPhone and iPad...............How can this be corrected without interferring with the information on my computer?    Thanks

With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the SQLite3.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Reboot and see if all is well
In case that your OS is Windows 7 (64 bit)
    1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    2. Copy file "SQLite3.dll"
    3. Open new windows explorer, to to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    4. Paste file "SQLite3.dll" to the location.
    5. Reboot your computer, it should not display that message, it should be clear.
    Good Luck

  • How to control file location of iPhone pictures?

I have invested a lot of time into figuring out a smart way to combine Apple's approach of handling images (database-driven) with the approach of all other services (file-driven) but was not successful yet. I really hope you can help me.
Problem: I take a lot of picture on my iPhone and want them to be:
in a useful location on my drive based on events (e.g. Pictures/Christmas 2013/IMG_123.JPG) which enables me to use file-based services like dropbox
    in iPhoto
My problem: if I attach my iPhone and start iPhoto, I can import images from the iPhone without any control over where they are placed on the hard disk.
I tried several ways to work around this:
Find the images in the iPhoto Library folder and move them --> iPhoto doesn't find them anymore. Unfortunately it doesn't ask me where to find them but just shows an error symbol.
Export the images and reimport them --> A lot of manual effort + I loose some timestamp information
Hack into the SQLite DB of iPhoto --> I managed to update the imagePath in iPhoto but then found out that the location is additionally stored in a file alias which is stored in SQLite as a BLOB. I don't see a chance to create/update such an alias
Any idea how I can control where images are stored? Should I use another mechanism to import images from the iPhone instead of importing directly into the media library?

in a useful location on my drive based on events (e.g. Pictures/Christmas 2013/IMG_123.JPG) which enables me to use file-based services like dropbox
Do you want to store the original image files in a synced folder like your dropbox folder? Then you are risking to breaking the connection between your original image files and the versions in your iPhoto library.
Image files managed by iPhoto are best left alone. iPhoto offers many safe ways to access the photos, and probably can what you want be done, by using iPhoto's interface. What yo not can do in iPhoto is syncing the library to other macs.
Any idea how I can control where images are stored? Should I use another mechanism to import images from the iPhone instead of importing directly into the media library?
The only way to control where images are stored, is to avoid importing them in the first place. If you disable "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". Then your image files wil remain exactly where they are. But this method is not recommended, because it is a disaster waiting to happen. Images imported this way cannot be rlocated to another drive, if you are running out of space, they are difficult to restore from backup, and they are not well protected and may be accidentally moved or deleted.  If you need a photo library that supports this kind of staorage better, upgrade to Aperture.

No, I do not mean just the music.  Copying just the media/music files or the media folder creates problems.
