IPhone Car Mount

Hey everyone!
Ok before you answer please read my post carefully because i need exactly what im asking. I am looking for a mount for my iphone in the car. I dont want to have to mount it and then plug the cable in the bottom-more like a dock, put in and your done. The tomtom one does that but here is where i gets picky. I have an ipod cable that i installed in the back of my 2010 honda accord coupe (just got it i turn 17 and take my test on dec 7thhh!!!) so i need a dock with a 30pin in connecter on the back, not a 3.5 mm like the tomtom so i can plug the car cable into it. Basicaly im looking for the Apple iPhone dock with that outlet on the back, but for a car. Thanks guys in advance for any help!

I ended up purchasing the USA-SPEC Ipod interface for my 2007 Honda Civic. They have many BMW models so check here:

I then endedup purchasing the ProClipUSA iPhone holster specific to the USA-SPEC cable:

This is perfect because the USASPEC interface cable screws into the ProClipUSA holster and is very solid. I jump in the car, holster the iPhone and I am gone. When I leave I just slide it out ... no clips or locks to worry about (slide in slide out). This was the best method I found since you can customize the installation to fit your car and your requirements.
The one down side for someone would be the ProClip is designed to securly hold the iPhone without a sleeve or cover or other clip/holster device. You will need to remove your iPhone's sleeve or cover in order to holster the iPhone since the specs of the ProClip are exact (which makes for a very secure & solid hold during driving). They have other models that are adjustable however they do not allow for the cable to be screwed into the base to act as a single solid unit. This was fine for me since do not have a sleeve or leather holster/clip and I only use the Invisible Shield.
As a side note I purchased the Parrot 3100 Bluetooth for my honda and it too is integrated into my stereo. Both work flawlessly.

Good iphone car mount that works with case?

I need a car mount for my iPhone so that I can use the phone's GPS app. I've looked around and so far I can only find mounts that work for iPhones without any case.
I would rather not have to remove the case everytime I got in my car, so are there any recommended mounts out there that work for phones with cases?

Griffin makes an FM/lighter mounted model, which has several bottom mounting brackets, to fit several phone models. I tested it out today, but the ipod buttons on the model don't work correctly, and FM was spotty to awful, as always on these type of setups. It did hold my naked cellphone well, and wish it had worked as advertised - cost about $100 at Best Buy.
Belking has a similar model (about $70 at Best Buy), without the FM transmitter, also on a lighter stalk, which may work, since it grips the top of the phone with a wider clip, made to adapt to case thicknesses, I presume. I have not tried out this model, but may do so, since I have never found a single FM transmitter that works well - too much static, fading in and out, etc.
Is there anyone who can recommend a lighter mounted (on a flexible stalk) charger for the iphone, that has a stalk long enough to accommodate any rental car, I would very much appreciate it.

ProClips is expensive and yuo need to buy two different parts. I am not driving a brand new car and when I change cars this is a big investment in something that wil only work with VW beetle.
BUT I found the PERFECT SOLUTION aqnd wanted to share with all.
This car mount is adjustable and will work well with the iphone in a case too. It has a low profle and easily removed from car to car too.
It is mountable on windshield or on the dash and that is where I mounted it right in between my two air vents and just above radio on my beetle. From here it is easily viewiable and accessable tor my charger & for plugging into car speaker system.
Best thing is the price......under $20 with shipping. Okay, what is it.....IOTTIE.

Best iPhone Car Mount?

I really want to mount my iPhone when I'm driving. I currently have a 2006 Audi A3 with the iPod audio connector cable fitted. This works fine with the iPhone too, but I need the iPhone mounted.
So far I've seen various mounts with suction cups - these are no good for me. Others with vent clips, which could be a possibility, but all of them are ugly and seemingly oversized. Has any company actually designed a car mount specifically for the iPhone yet?

I came across this post via google and found the Brodit iPhone holder w/cable connection to be EXACTLY what I needed. Unfortunately since I live in the US the only official Broadit supplier in the US currently does not carry the holder w/cable connection but after a quick call to the company, I have put put on their email list to be notified once this becomes available.
My setup is a 01 Firebird with factory Monsoon radio and a product from USA-Spec that integrates perfectly with my iPhone. I still get to keep my steering wheel controls and it charges the phone as well. The best part is that I have not noticed any interference with my speakers like I do with my home theater setup.
It also comes with an extra AUX input so if a friend with another mp3 player rides with me we can also listen to his music as well.

Best car mount for iPhone WITH case

ive tried car mounts in the past and some worked fine...until I got a case for my iphone. lots of mounts have custom fitting so that it will fit the naked iphone just fine, but i need one that works with my case on it. so i guess just an adjustable one would be good...being able to turn it to landscape would be nice as well. anyone have suggestions?

yeah but this is a custom holder for a "snug" fit...which is my problem. snug fit = doesn't fit if you have a case around your iphone. so i need one thats adjustable. im looking on amazon now and some of the reviews are so-so...so i was just wondering if there was a definitive iphone case out there.

CAR MOUNT / CHARGER THAT IS SIMPLE AND LOGICAL ?????

Here's the deal... obviously most newer car stereos have an aux input. And if not, almost all aftermarket radios do. What good is an UGLY suction cup mount with a seperate wire for power ? What good is a cigarette lighter mount with no power ? Why can't someone make a simple mount that plugs into the cigarette lighter and powers the phone while holding it in place ? THAT'S ALL ! A small wire could then connect the phone to the aux jack or even the cassette if you want to go back to the 90's. We all know FM transmitters SUCK, but they insist on only offering these things with the stupid transmitter on it ! Does anyone PLEASE have a link to a car mount for the iphone that plugs into the cigarette lighter, holds it there in a mount, and provides power ?????????!!!!!!!

Belkin HAD exactly what you want and I WAS using it with my Touch. But, of course it WON'T work with the 3G. They don't seem to be on track to replace it with anything simmilar and everything I've seen is clunky in comparison.

Too bad it was great while it lasted. It has a little mini plug on the underside of the plug so mini to whatever cable goes to your input AND it has a volume control so it acts like a preamp so you can keep a balance among your device and built in radio. Sigh: What are all these manufactures thinking, when something is Made For iPod why isn't it really??
Edit: I missed the mount part, I use a cupholder mount originaly designed for HP Ipaq (ebay) that fits great. I didn't want to put that much weight on the lighter socket, it would wear it down in time.

Tom-Tom Car Mount

Does anyone know if the Tom-Tom GPS car mount will function with other iPhone GPS apps (like Navigon). I know the charger, speaker, etc. will work, but will the GPS chip in the mount work with non-TomTom apps?

Car mount recommendations?

I'd like to mount my iPhone 4S to a car windshield (using a suction cup, nothing that permanently affixes to the vehicle).
The purpose will be to use the iPhone as a GPS device.
I'd like to be able to keep the iPhone charged (or charging) while it's mounted. I understand some mounts have a built-in GPS receiver that performs better than the one in the iPhone itself.
I use a Bumper and would really like to not have to take it off.
So I'd really appreciate any suggestions of a mount that fulfills all my wishes, if such a thing exists.

It is designed to fit several devices and will securely hold an iPhone in a case or bumber. I use the iPhone's GPS and an iPhone car charger.

Magellan Iphone car kit

I am looking for a suitable iphone 3GS car holder, so I can have my iphone held in portrait and landscape positions. I see that the Magellan Car Kit is recommended here on this discussion but is it avail in the UK do you know and if so where ?
am very surprised by all the bad reviews I have seen at Amazon for example on various makes of iphone car holders, not one of them seems to have got it quite right. The biggest problem seems to be accommodating iphones that have either film protection on the screen or are enclosed in a carrying case.
My iphone only has the protective film.
Can you recommend a holder.
Also is there a way I can make my iphone 3GS into a GPS device so that I only require the one device in the car ?

Why no dedicated car mount?

I got a lot of use out of my iPod nano 2nd generation -- I used it in my Prius, in one of Belkin's cup-holder mounts, with a iPod holder specifically made to hold my nano. It looked good and sounded good. I also used it for working out, with an armband, again made specifically for the nano. Unfortunately, my old nano only had 4GB of memory.
So yesterday I bought a new 4th gen nano, black, sleek and beautiful, 16GB. No more unchecking songs when I update so my podcasts will fit! But now it seems the only car mount I can get is one of those big ugly clamp things that fits iPhones and big iPods and everything. I don't want that! That's like using a hammer to perform surgery! I want something that is specifically made to fit my nano! I can get an armband made to fit the new nano. Why not some sort of car mount?
What gives iPod accessory makers?

Interestingly the iOS 3.2 iPad Spanish keyboard does have this. Very odd that it would not also be in iOS 4 for the iPhone.
iOS 3.2 and iOS 4 were developed separately (to keep iPad details secret), but iOS 4.2 is supposed to combine them, so it may show up then.

IPod Touch + GPS + Car Mount?

I used to have a Dell Axim PDA that could fit perfectly in a Seidio Car Mount, and turn my PDA into a GPS navigator. I had to download navigation software to the PDA, and then I could just slip it into the dock in my car, and voila! You can see an example of these car mounts here:

Is there anyway to do this with an iPod Touch? I want a dock for the touch in my car that does the following:
1) charges the battery
2) has a headphone jack that I can leave connected to my car stereo
3) has a built in GPS receiver
I sorta figure that this has to be relatively easy to make happen? Right?

Also remember that the ipod is supposed to be a MP3 player not a PDA. If you want a PDA quality device look at the iphone or elsewhere. Any 3rd party software for the iphone and ipod touch is web based apps and not native. Any 3rd party software claiming to be native are hacks. Hack software is not supported by Apple nor are they supported for discussion on these boards. Go elsewhere for such discussion. It should be said to that any hacks will likely void your ipod touch warranty and turn your ipod into a brick!

Iphone car charger once again not charging. Second one and they are not cheap from the apple store.Any else have these problems?

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.
