Iphoto 4.0.3 won't show my photos anymore

My pics appear as empty grey boxes, although they seem to be there in terms of disc space. This happened for no obvious reason. Cannot see them nor edit them. I tried to rebuild my library from iphoto 4.0.3. The library loads, and then starts to repair when the application quits unexpectedly. Any hint?
Thanks

Reinstalling your system software will not correct a corrupt iPhoto library database (but, I guess you know that now). Create a new admin user account and log in to it to see if iPhoto will launch normally to an empty library. If it does, then there's nothing wrong with your system.
Log back in to your original user account and look in your Pictures folder. How many folders do you see whose name begins with "iPhoto Library"?

  • I imported events from iphoto into aperture and aperture is showing 2 photos for each picture, one original and one edited although none of the photos from iphoto had been edited. Any idea why this has happened and what I need to do to prevent this.

I imported several events for iPhoto into Aperture3 and in Aperture it shows two photos for each photo imported, one original and one edited although none of the photos imported were edited. Why has this happened and what do I need to do to prevent this in future. I have only recently got Aperture and am trying to learn as I go along using the Focal Press guide. Thanks for any help.

A photo that was rotated in iPhoto will also show up as iPhoto edited.
This is not what I found to be the case in a recent experiment using iPhoto11- I did repeat it to be sure.

Quickly, what I found is that only the ones I did actual adjustments on brought over two images.  Images that were simply rotated, had "quick fixes" or "Effects" did not bring in two images.  More importantly, among the ones with adjustments that did bring in two images, the ones with the keyword  "iPhoto Edited" appear to be nothing more than iPhoto's 6MB JPEG Previews.  The master was a 25MB RAW image.
I don't know why some users are experiencing doubles on everything, but I recommend caution in deciding which ones to remove or you may find yourself deleting masters and keeping previews.

  • My iPhoto images won't show, and Photo Library Repair will not open when I command-Option-click on the iPhoto icon.

Some of my iPhoto albums will not show, as below:
When I click on any of those individual albums, for a brief split second I can see the images displayed, but then they revert to this:
Then if I click on any of those images, this image appears:
I have real a lot of posts that say to click Command+Option while opening iPhoto and this will open the Photo Library Repair window, but... this is not happening. Each time I do it, iPhoto just opens as it normally does. I've tried about 10 times, closing iPhoto completely. I've tried through the dock icon and through the applications listing. Neither will open anything other than regular old iPhoto.
Can anyone help me and suggest what I may be doing wrong, or are there any alternative was to open Photo Library Repair so I can rebuild my library? I really don't want to lose all of those photos, especially since some are really important and irreplaceable.
    Thanks.

I have real a lot of posts that say to click Command+Option while opening iPhoto and this will open the Photo Library Repair window, but... this is not happening.
Be sure you're holding the correct keys and that you're holding them long enough. Depress them before clicking on iPhoto and don't let go until the menu shows up.
If you don't want to lose those photos, make a back up now. Hopefully it's not too late.

  • IPhoto pictures/video clips won't show up in iMovie HD 6

I'm currently working on a video project for a class and have been using pictures and video clips from iPhoto to build the movie. However, all of a sudden, when I click on the "Media" pane in iMovie, the box under 'photos' is completely blank. I can;t get my iPhoto library to show up there at all.
Can someone PLEASE help me? I have no idea what happened!!

Nevermind, after looking through previous posts I found the answer to my question.
I just went into iPhoto preferences and deleted all the keywords. For some reason this brought my whole iPhoto library back to iMovie!

  • New iPhone 4 won't show imported photos in camera roll

Recently upgraded the wife from her old 3G to the iPhone 4. She wanted to get her photos from her 3G onto her 4. Transferred the photos from the 3G onto my Mac using iPhoto and then synced the 4 with that library. The photos transferred over to the 4 no problem, we can even view them if we change the wallpaper settings. However, they don't show up in camera roll. Is there another way to transfer photos from one iphone to another and be able to view them in camera roll on the iPhone being transferred to?

Try basic troubleshooting of resetting or restarting the device.
If those do not work, re-sync the device with iTunes.

  • Iphoto 6.0.5 won't locate/switch photo albums; help!

I just upgraded yesterday to 6.0.5, my iphoto library is stored on my external drive. now however whenever iphoto starts up with or without the drive, it loads a "phantom" cached library with no images. It has all the info albums, library, even photo titles, EXCEPT the images; and when you click on the blank images and select <show file> or <show original file> it opens a finder window highlighting my macintosh HD and no other i photo anywhere in sight. Ive tried reseting, erasing files from the library but can't get back the option to choose my iphoto library. Is this a bug on the upgrade? Any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

Well that worked really well! And here i was trying just about everything, thanks TD!

Have you tried opening iPhoto while holding down the
Option key, and using the resulting dialogue to
navigate to the Library on the external HD?

  • IPhoto Events with video only not showing in Photos.app  with iOS 4.2.1

I upgraded to iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 3GS and when I open the Photos.app the videos and the event with the videos in do not show. I have created a new video on the iphone, synched ok with IPhoto but re-sycnhing with iPhone again does not show videos in Photos.app
Has anyone found a fix for this bug?

The same thing happened to me. I was on a mission yesterday to fix it, but didn't get it to work. I have 1 more thing i want to try... but haven't had a chance.
    Has anyone fixed this?
My plan is to unsync photos to remove them from my phone, delete all the photo cache information from the iPhoto Library package, empty the trash, reboot my computer AND iPhone, open iPhoto to make sure they're sorted correctly, and then sync my phone. If that doesn't fix it... i dont know, i might call Apple.

  • Won't show entire photo during slideshow

I have many old scanned pics of various dimensions and when I create a slideshow, many of them are not shown in their entirety (think cropped) before the next slide comes. I have selected the "scale to fit" option but that doesn't quite get it done. Resizing them would distort the images, right? If I had small portrait pics in there and a large landscapes, wouldn't they come out looking like Kai's Super Goo projects?

I agree with the original post. I've got fairly regularly sized 4:3 photos, higher resolution than my screen, and I can't combine the Ken Burns effect and any other preference to ensure that I see the entire picture. Usually the top gets cut off - possibly because I have an iMac G5 whose aspect ratio is longer in relation to its height than my photos. The option to 'scale images to fit screen' doesn't seem to do anything either way - I would be happy with black bands at either side if I could get the whole pic but I can't. I can easily do this with GraphicConverter, a much simpler program. I am puzzled that people should be content to have slide shows where involuntary cropping takes place: and there's nothing in the Help file about it. Is it a Permissions problem?
    TIA

  • Just reinstalled iPhoto and now it won't open the photos I saved on CDs

I recently had a major hard drive crash and had to get a new hard drive. I was so glad that I had all my photos backed up on CDs. But when I reinstalled the software, I can't get iPhoto to open the CDs. I get a message that says the photo libraries were made using a newer version of IPhoto. The only version I have is the version that came with the computer which was iLife 05. I have not yet bought iLife 06 due to finances. The only thing I can think of is that there were updates to the 05 version that I had downloaded and now the original version will not open my files. I tried clicking on update the software, but all I got was an ad for 06. Is there any way to get the updates for 05 so I can get back to where I was before the hard drive gave out?
    Thanks,
    Carole

    That's a bummer.
Here are the instructions for creating a new library. It will get you your photos back for now. Save the CDs in case a solution comes up.
    Close iPhoto
Rename your messed up iPhoto Library to "iPhoto Library_old"
Drag this library to your desktop
Hold down the Option key and launch iPhoto
This is the window you will get
Create a new library or choose a library to open
Choose to create a new library
Once this new empty library is open it is time to import the images from your old library
    Go to File>add to library
Navigate to the old library on your desktop and highlight it in the window, then click the "open" button.
iPhoto will start importing the images from your old library
    This is what to expect:
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
Once all you images have been imported, check through the library and make sure everything looks ok.
You can now start making your Albums, and do your keywords or any other organizational steps.
You can also delete the old library on the desktop.
It is also a good time to backup this new library to CD/DVD by burning the iPhoto LIbrary folder in the Finder, or copying the iPhoto Library folder to an external drive formatted for Macs, or copying the iPhoto LIbrary folder to an iPod.
    Good luck!

  • Skype won't show contact photos

I'm having trouble viewing my contact photos on my iPad air(iOS 8.0) with Skype(iOS version 4.19). I've noticed my contact photos will not load and it's a bit frustrating. If anyone knows how to solve this, it would be amazing for you to help.

Hi and welcome to the Skype Community,
Don't you see any of your contact's avatars or is it tht only some of them are missing?

  • Viewer won't show all photos

I imported several photos into the viewer on top but when I played the preview, it only played the first photo over and over.
    what am I doing wrong?

Under the Photos tab I have selected to sync My Pictures, which contains over 1000 photos.
Try deleting the topmost photo cache in your My Pictures folder, as per the following document:
[Photo Sync creates iPod photo Cache|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314]
Do you have any better luck with syncing "My Pictures" now?

  • IPhoto 4.0.3 wont show photos anymore !

I don't understand what's happen. iPhoto 4.0.3 doesn't show my photos anymore. All folders source are present, Photo Library is there with all the rolls, rolls self could open, taking more or less space on screen, but doesn't show anything.
Looking into Pictures/iPhoto Library ( What a mess !) in the Mac itself I can see all my pics and even open it... with Preview !

I tried to rebuild my library from iphoto 4.0.3. The library loads, and then starts to repair when the application quits unexpectedly. Any hint? In the meantime, my pics are empty grey boxes, although they seem to be there in terms of disc space. This happened for no obvious reason. Cannot see them nor edit them.

  • Photos won't show in Finder

I have a late 2013 13" MacBook Pro Retina using Yosemite.
In Finder, under pictures, my iPhoto library won't show pictures. It says there's 12GB of photos, but it won't show the photos. When I click on the iPhoto Library, it will open the iPhoto app and the photos will show, but again, it won't show pictures in Finder. I use to be able to see my photos in Finder.
It all started when I went to System Preferences and started clicking things under the Sharing tab.
After this, I noticed I wasn't able to see my photos in Finder. I followed another thread that said to: press control and click on iPhoto library, then click on Show Package Contents, then click on Original folder; however, when I did went through this process, I didn't have a folder that said Original, so I don't know what to do. Please Help me!!

What Finder window? Are these images in iPhoto?
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Won't show disk

I am using iTunes for a long time now....but by yesterday, iTunes won't show audio disc anymore, i cannot hear or import music from CD anymore..............what can i do???? i searched on the internet but got nothing

I can't really help you with that. Try cleaning the DVD with alcohol and lint-free cloth to be sure there are no fingerprints, dirt, smudges, etc.
