IPhoto on fullscreen freezes when iPhone is connected (lion 10.7)

I seem to have a rare problem with my iPhoto.
I pop up my iPhoto, on fullscreen on OSX 10.7 Lion.
I have iTunes up and running as well on full screen but not sure if this matters.
When I pop in my iPhone, my iPhoto seems to freeze -- probably happens when the iPhoto tries to view the pictures in my iPhone..  Anyone else have this issue?  I'm not sure if I should report it to apple...
This only happens when i have iPhoto on full screen, on Lion.  But happens on both my Air and Macbook Pro...

If that's the case, then that could be the issue LOL.
Thanks, I didnt know that.
I hope a remedy is on the way (if they plan to)...

  • Prevent iPhoto '11 from opening when iPhone is connected

I just bought the new MacBook Air 13" with Lion and iLife '11 (used to have a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard and iLife '09).
Back in iPhoto '09, I used to be able to prevent the app from automatically opening every time I connected my iPhone.
In iPhoto '11, the option is no longer there... it still shows in iTunes under the iPhone summary page, but no dice for iPhoto '11.
Any clue on how to disable this automatic iPhoto '11 opening?
    Thanks!
    -Marc

Same with Lion... You can also make this choice with Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) and in the preferences to Aperture

  • IPhoto freezes when iPhone/iPad connected

Following a full TimeCapusle system restore of MacBookAir, iPhoto freezes as soon as an iPhone/iPad is connected.
-iPhoto works fine when nothing connected
-devices never show in sidebar of iPhoto
-Image Capture works fine for devices
-Other USB devices have no effect
-Problem did not exist before TC restore
    Have tried:
    -reinstalling iPhoto
    -restoring device
-repairing system permissions in disk utility
    -deleting com.apple.iPhoto.plist
    -repairing/rebuilding iPhoto library
    -creating new test iPhoto library
I know iPhoto is on its way out, but I would like to fix this until Yosemite and Photos arrive....
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Try this fix discovered by User photosb189:
From Finder, hold down the option key on your keyboard and click on the Go menu at the top of the screen
Select Library from the drop down menu
Then navigate to Application Support > iLifeAssetManagement > assets
Right click on the 'sub' folder and choose Compress
Drag the resulting zip file to your Desktop (as a backup)
Go to your System Preferences and choose iCloud
Turn OFF the iCloud Photos option
Go back to Library > Application Support and DELETE the iLifeAssetManagement folder
Now, in System Preferences, turn the iCloud Photos option ON
iPhoto should now be able to launch. Give it enough time to re-download your Photo Stream content. if you are missing any of your My Photo Stream photos (more than 30 days old), unzip the sub folder on your desktop and drag that into iPhoto.

  • IPhoto not opening up when Iphone is connected

So I had this problem, Iphoto and image capture and itunes (sometimes) was not recognizing my iPhone3G.
    Tried everything listed earlier.
ANSWER: I attached a new cord and it worked perfectly. If your cord is in any way having to be " Played" with or wiggeled in the Mac
will have a hard time seeing the device.

If you have autosync in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices disabled, enable it again. Then click on your phone in the device list, and check the Summary pane if autolaunch is selected. If no, select it, go back to Edit/Preferences/Devices and enable the option to prevent autosync, if you had this selected before.
The reason to go back and forth is, that you can't see if autolaunch for iTunes is selected in the Summary pane, if you disabled autosync.
    I hope this makes sense

  • Stop iTunes 11.0 from launching automatically when iPhone is connected?

    Hi all -
Just got an iPhone 5 and connected it to my computer to charge. Discovered upon doing so that my version of iTunes is now upgraded to 11.0.  How do I stop iTunes 11.0 from automatically launching when I connect my iPhone?  I can't find an appropriate box to uncheck.  In the old version of iTunes, there were different things to uncheck for stopping automatic syncing and automatic launching.  Is this still the case?  If so I'd like to prevent launching but keep syncing.
    Thanks.

Hummm, that's odd. I always have "Automatically sync when iPhone is connected" unchecked, it has been working fine untill this morning, out of the blue when I plug the iPhone 5 in, **** iTunes launchs itself Then an error message said the iTune could not connect to the iPhone5, meanwhile the iPhone keeps beeping because of that.
It seems like Apple loves all these obnoxious automatic this and that features, they do it in iPhoto, XCode.... everything they make. Personally I like to have more control of what I want to do, I really HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE!! all the automatic these and that.

I tried hard reset on my iPhone. I tried restarting laptop and iPhone. I tried a different laptop. I tried removing driver and reinstalling from Device Manager but did not find a driver other than "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" which I heard shouldn't be uninstalled.
    Anything I haven't tried?

Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and  use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile.

  • ITunes 11.1.5 doesn't open automatically when iPhone 5 connected

I have tried checking and unchecking "open iTunes when iPhone is connected" and that hasn't helped.

I’ve found another solution for those where this doesn’t resolve it.
    From user Crosbie at MacForums.com
You can extract iTunes Helper from the iTunes package, if you like, to replace the absent one.
It can be found by right-clicking the iTunes app and choosing 'Show Package Contents'; then navigate down to the 'MacOS' folder. You can then drag it to your open 'login items' window.

This solved the issue for me, where unchecking and re-checking didn’t.

As the subject says. Updated to iTunes 9, updated iPhone to 3.1. When iPhone gets connected iTunes doesn't launch automatically. I should add though, that my ipod shuffle when connected does auto launch iTunes.
    Message was edited by: sig

Apparently this is a bug in iTunes 9. Hopefully their will be an update shortly to fix this minor annoyance.

  • ITunes suddenly freezes when iPhone connected

I'm running the latest MAC os X, iTunes on a power mac G5 and all of a sudden, whenever i connect the iPhone, i get the beachball and activity monitor tells me itunes is not responding. I disconnected phone and changed the setting in iTunes to NOT automatically sync when connected, but even then as soon as i plug it in, iTunes says it's "verifying" the phone...the phone says "Sync in Progress" and everything is hung... Any help would be so appreciated, I've looked in the forum and have not found this exact problem... Thanks.

I never had any postcards on the iphone, only on the ipod. Deleted all. Removed iTunes completely. Deleted library. Installed iTunes again. Works fine (well, in apple terms) till the iPhone gets connected. Then it freezes.
Another question, if anyone knows, do the garbage-makers Apple provide any direct support, or is it all through I-have-the-same-problem-too boards where one can (possibly) get any clues what the problem is?
    thanks,
    -sg

  • Any way for iPhoto to NOT launch when iPhone connected?

    Hey gang-
Is there any way to configure iPhoto to NOT launch every time my iPhone is connected to my iMac? I understand why it does it- because there are photos on my iPhone Camera roll- I get it. But I would love for it to NOT launch iPhoto every time. I know I can use Image Capture to tell iPhoto not to launch for ANY camera, but that's overkill. I just want iPhoto to not launch when my iPhone is connected. Is there maybe an app or a terminal command that could configure that?
    Thanks!

Sure. Go to preferences and select do nothing when a camera is attached.
This is the way to do this. As you know, it will not open for any camera.
    These are your choices. Sorry.
Thanks- at least I know I wasn't missing something.
Okay- how about this? Is there an app that would enable me to move my photos off my Camera Roll and organize them separately? That might solve the problem of iPhoto seeing them.
    Thanks!

  • IPhoto opens automatically when iPhone is connected

iPhoto for Mac (Yosemite) opens automatically when iPhone (iOS 8) is connected. I have "no application" chosen in iPhoto preferences and Image Capture has no preference options in the menu. I can find nothing in System Preferences OS X 10 or in Setting iOS 8. Where do I turn off the automatic iPhoto start?

This is most likely because it is  asking you to choose photos to sync to your computer. I don't know how to get rid of it though. Hope you find the answer!

  • Prevent iPhoto from opening when iPhone is connected?

Does anyone know if there is a way to keep iPhoto from opening when my iPhone is connect BUT do the opposite when my digital still cam is connected? I like having iPhone auto-launch for my canon cam, but not when I connect the iPhone.

I believe I've come across an article by someone who set up a script to run when a camera is connected, and the script detects what kind of camera and then launches or not launches iPhoto as desired. Yeah, here it goes:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20080301133957211
Seems overkill to me---I find it easy enough to manually launch iPhoto when I connect a camera, but hey, to each their own.

  • Iphoto freezes when iPad2 is connected

I currently have a macbook pro retina with Mountain Lion installed.
When ever I connect my Ipad, iPhoto freezes. It takes quite a while for the rainbow spin to disappear and the photos to show up.
When a memory stick or card is used to import pictures Iphoto can be very slow at times.
Is there a fix for this?
(Also, is iPhoto supposed to be a heavy app? It makes my macbook pro quite hot and the fans run quite fast so that I can hear them)
    Thank you for your help.

I had suspected the Library as the cause or a bunged up cache file, but that rules both of those out.
    Back up and reinstall.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.
