  • Disabled ipod not recognized when plugged back in to itunes.

Daughter's disabled ipod (second time) is not recognized when we follow instructions to enable it and plug into itunes.

HT1808 is the article you need to follow. You need the section labeled "Placing the device into recovery mode."
You need to power the device off. Once the device is off press and hold the Home button or the button on the front of the device and while holding the Home button plug in the device and continue holding the home button until you see the image below.

If running 10.7 or later hold down Command-R at Startup.
    This should invoke recovery Mode.
    Choose Disk Utility.
Select your Hard drive. Inspect the SMART Status in the lower right of the window for "Verified".
Select the Mac OS X Volume (originally Macintosh HD) click (Repair Disk)
If errors, run again until it comes clean or gets stuck.
    Report any error messages.

  • 3rd gen iPod not recognized when using Firewire

The 3rd gen iPod only charges via FireWire. Given the lousy battery life provided by the device, I need to be able to sync using the Firewire port of my Macbook (Home) or my Macbook Pro (work). The device is not recognized by iTunes (or in general, no notices are given that would indicate that the device is connected). I have:
    - Restored the device via USB
    - Restored it to be Apple format (it was previously Windows format)
    - Confirmed that it DOES work with USB - but that's not what I want
    - Tried this on 2 laptops
    - Confirmed that charging via Firewire DOES work - so I'm assuming that the cable works as well
Is there a diagnostic application that will tell me the status of the on-board firewire port?

I luckily still had a PC around. I was able to reset it on the PC, then reformat on the Mac.

  • Ipod 4th gen doesn't charge when connected with firewire

when I connect my iPod with usb, it mounts and charge, but when i try to charge with firewire cable (connected to a PPC G4 or to my apple ipod firewire power adaptater), it doesn't(it mounts on my desktop, but doesn't charge...)... i realized it doesn't work after updatig the 1.2.1 version of software for windows....
actually, My ipod works with the version for windows because i'm working with a Mac and ... a PC...
Does anybody know what happens with my ipod???
    533 MHZ PPC G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   768 Mo SDRAM hd 280Go

It can be caused by different things, please check the following one by one:-
    1. Check your firewire cable, is it a faulty one? have you tried another on?
    2. Do a Reset for your iPod and reboot your Mac again
    3. Make sure you turn the insight off, if any
    4. Redo the Restore to factory setting again (using the latest version of iTunes 7.1)

  • 15 GB iPod not recognized by iTunes via Firewire

If I connect my 3rd generation 15 GB iPod to my 20" iMac via USB, iTunes 7.6 recognizes it and syncs up with no problem (except for the known limitation of not setting the iPod's clock). If I connect it with Firewire, iTunes doesn't notice it's there even though the System Profile sees it. I'd like to use Firewire both because it sets the clock and because the USB cable is for my wife's iPod (2nd gen Nano) and isn't always available.

Is the iPod mounting on the desktop? Have you tried unplugging all devices and power from the CPU (I don't have a powerbook, maybe you would need to pull the battery?) to "reset" Firewire?
When you trashed the iPodDriver.kext did you follow the steps for your OS? Check out this document and see if you need to update.

  • IPOD  Not Recognized USB Connection

How do i get my 40Gb IPOD to work with a USB Connection, I can only use my IPOD with the Firewire connection. Is it possible to use both the Firewire and USB connections without totally restoring my IPOD

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
    Still no joy, see these.

  • Ipod not recognized when using an external hardrive, please help me!

I have a 4 gig ipod mini, I have been using it for over a year with no problems. recently, my computer will not recognize my ipod when it is plugged in with my external hardrive. I have chosen to keep all of my music on a 100 gig external hardrive, because I have a lot of it. when I plug my ipod into my computer and run Itunes my computer will recognize my ipod, open itunes and then the program will freeze. i can also plug in my external hardrive and when i do my ipod is not recognized by the computer at all. I have tried, numerous scans of both hardrives, multiple updates, new USB cords, I have the most current version of itunes and yet I come to see no results, if you know anything please help me, I don't know what else to do.

  • IPhone 4 not recognized when connected to new USB 2.0 card

I have an iphone 4 OS4.1 on a no-name Windows XP Pro (service pack 3) PC with an AMD processor and lots of RAM.
I had the phone working and syncing beautifully with the onboard USB 1.1 but it was slow. So I bought a new PCI USB 2.0 card and installed it. Card is installed and there are no problems according to the status in System Devices.
But the computer does not recognize the iphone when plugged into one of those ports. If I plug it into one of the USB 1.1 ports that are still in the machine, it syncs and works fine. If I plug it into one of the new USB 2.0 ports, the PC shows the window at bottom right saying the device is not recognized. Tried the wizard but it's useless.
    THOUGHTS?????

    Nevermind!!!
It turned out to be a faulty cable! I tried it with a different sync cable and it works fine!
    So disregard the question above.

  • ITune not appear when connect with iphone

iTune not appear when iphone connect with my computer (window 7)

    Hello BrightGoh,
Generally for a new and unrelated question you should start a new thread.
Safari on the iPhone doesn't have the ability to download and save .exe files. The iPhone does not have the ability to store files as a storage disk.
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf
If you check the Safari section of the manual starting on page 52, you will notice that there is no mention of being able to save such files.

  • Database fileds are not coming when connecting with ado and they are coming when connecting with odbc

    Post Author: yagya
    CA Forum: .NET
Hi , I am using crystal report XI R2 in visual studio 2005 . Backend is sql server 2000. I have made a connection with odbc connectivity and using dsn. I am using a stored procedure as datasource of report. It is working fine all the database fields are available. Now when i try to connect with the ado connection having same stored procedure as datasource of report , I am not getting data fields. I dont know where is the problem in my stored procedure or in report. But when i connect through system dsn using odbc connectivity everything is working fine. A MAP filed dialogue box appears when i try to change the datasource location to ado from odbc.

There is a barely acknowledged issue. For Mac users Apple has released an update to the app, but for iOS users the recommendation is for users to update their ipad to the most recent operating system.
There may be a fix coming for iOS6 users (which seem to be many of those having problems) or there may not be. If your ipad isn't up to date then you can update it and see if that helps, or if you don't want to update then you may want to wait and see if there is either a fix or if it fixes itself.

  • IPod says "FireWire not supported" when connecting with a USB cable

Hello all. First post ever. I am trying to connect my Nano (1 gig) to my Windows Vista. (This use to work flawlessly) Whenever I try to connect my iPod to my computer via a USB cable, it says "FireWire connections are not supported please use USB cable provided blah blah..." It is strange because I have never used anything but a USB cable with my iPod. I've tried everything, resetting via Menu + select, putting it in Disk mode. Seperate PC's including an XP PC. Anyone ever had this happen to them? Please help!!
    Thank you,
    Ben Roughan

This message appears to be a hardware issue, and cannot be fixed; the iPod likely needs to be replaced.

  • Is your iPod not dimming when connected to your dock or computer?

    Just curious.
When I attached my new iPod nano to the dock, it doesn't dim. The screen saying, "Connected. Eject Before Disconnecting." is always on.
I'm wonder if this is a problem with mine, or just something new the iPods do.
    Thanks.

I know burn in is not an issue with LCD's as they just changed the name to 'image persistence'.
Seriously, poke around online and you'll see. I have a lower end 17" MAG Innovision LCD tethered to my 20" iMac. It will display a ghosted image of whatever is on the screen after only about 30 minutes.
So if I'm doing some work in Photoshop for a while (with all my tools on the external display), once I close out, there's faint ghosted outlines of the toolbars all over the screen, some portions worse than others. Your mileage may vary but it is real and the effect is exactly the same as burn in. Image persistence is recoverable though but it requires turning the LCD off for a period of time or displaying a solid color on the entire panel will sometimes resolve the issue.
Again, I've only seen cheap LCD's display these effects and I was just outside the warranty when it started to happen..........just the way it should be I suppose...grrrr!
I'll be watching to see what others say. I have disk use enabled on all my iPods and most of the time they are plugged up to the iMac so for me this is an issue...
