Ipod touch usb

can i connect the ipod touch to a USB and download the old way instead of wirelessly?

Hey!
Yep!
WiFi can also be 'disabled' as a preference(it consumes battery when it's enabled and not used apparently!)
You still use the supplied USB cable for Mac/PC connectivity just as before.iTunes Wifi store is a pretty cool feature though!

  • 3G iPod Touch "USB device not recognized" on any PC

My 3G been working fine for 1+ yr. Running iTunes 10 on a WinXP system; latest OS (4.2.1?) everything was up to date and working fine. One day I get "USB device not recognized" when I hook it to the PC. Also, when connected to a charger, I don't get the battery screen. It charges either way, but slowly.
I visited the local Apple store & the guru checked it on her system, with same results. I just reset it, hoping for a miracle, but it still isn't recognized.
    Help?

Hi Che-Che. I'm having what looks like the same problem. Cannot get this iPod Touch 4th Gen to be recognized on any computer. When I use the white Apple cord that came with it, absolutely nothing happens. Not a sign of being recognized or not being recognized. I brought a third party cable made by Scohche and it is made for iPod, but at least the computer acts like it is starting to load the USB driver, then it fails. The other cable you are talking about, was it an Apple cable? I'm leaning towards it being a faulty Apple cable.

  • Ipod touch USB doesn't fit

I just got a new 32 GB ipod touch but the ipod side of the wire doesn't fit. I'm not really sure why this would be happening and does anyone have any ideas?

Are you saying that for the supplied 30-pin one end USB other end cable, the 30-pin cable end does not correctly fit into the iPod? Make sure the writing on the 30-pin end is o the same side of the display. Also, look at the receptacle in the ipod for bent pins or foreign mater and that the cable end looks OK too. If it still does not connect correctly I would make an appointment at the Genius bar of your local Apple Store or call Apple.

  • Ipod touch usb to firewire

I know that Apple requires a usb 2 connection between computer and an ipod touch and that firewire is no longer an output on an ipod But can anyone tell me please
    1. if I bought an ipod touch could I successfully sync it via usb 1 and an 800mhz imac?
    2. if only usb 2 connection works could I use a usb 2 to firewire adapter to make the connection and to synch the touch and my computer?
I assume that in either case I would need the dock and a mains power source?
    Thanks

Thank you, but I already said that so why are you telling me. And I would disagree with you about not being able to sync a Touch with 1.1, I have seen it done, it is slow, it is prone to timeout if you try to sync to much, such as an update.
Could you advise me of the "greater" standard than 2.0? Don't believe 3.0 is available yet. And they aren't "languages".
But other than that we agree.

  • Ipod touch USB for nano

Can the Ipod touch (most recent version) USB cord be used to charge a 6th gen. Ipod nano? If I have to buy one seperately, I guess I will, but I'd rather not.

It should, yes.  Have you tried it?

  • Ipod touch usb cable faulty

Just got an iPod touch 64 gig.  Cable worked for a few hours now I get message:
Becaue a usb device was drawing too much power from my computer one or more of my USB devices have been disabled. Get this on my iMac 27 inch and 15 inch mac book pro.  Anyone have a solution?  Seems cable may be defective.

Yes, it seems like a defective cable. Other uses have reported the same problem with the cable that came with their new 5G iPod. Go to an Apple store or call Apple for a replacement.

  • Ipod Touch USB Connection.

How do I stop the Ipod Touch from showing up as a drive, when connecting to a Windows Laptop?
In the early days of use, the Ipod did not show as a drive when connecting up to sync. There was something I changed in the settings, and now I can't find how to go back to the original settings.
There's not much that the Ipod shows when opened as a drive as there is no camera on the Ipod 3g.
    Computer - Windows 7
    Ipod 3g.

If you have pictures on the Camera Roll, that will cause the ipod to show up as a drive.
The Camera Roll contains pictures saved from Safari and any screenshots you have taken on your iPod.
Look into the folders (DCIM I think) on the drive and remove any pictures you find in there. If you wish to save them, do so into a folder on your computer. If you want them on your iPod, save them into a folder that is Synced with your iPod.

  • Ipod Touch USB Problem

My Daughter's iPod Touch 4G isn't recognised by the computer. If I plug my son's 3G touch in instead, it works fine. I'm using the same cable, just swapping over the iPods. What could be the problem?

I forgot to mention - The 4G (the unrecognised one) does start to charge when it is connected to the PC. Also, it is currently fully (or close to fully) charged.

  • Ipod touch usb not recognized malfuntion

something is wrong with my ipod

    - Try a reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try another computer to hlep determine if you have a computer or iPod problem.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod Touch USB Charging

    Hi,
I could not find an answer in a quick search of the site sorry if I missed it.
The iPod will not charge using a standard AC to USB adapter. The support site seems to be saying this will work. I have tried a couple of adapters on my cell and the adapters work fine.
Is there something I am missing?
    Bryan

It really depends on when the charger was made. Newer chargers should not be a problem. I've got two AC chargers (Belkin and Apple) that work without a hitch. However, none of my 12V chargers worked with my Touch.
Take your touch to the store with you and insist that any AC charger you want to purchase works with your touch. (you can also check the packaging - just make sure it is 2G touch or iPhone compatible).

  • Ipod touch usb charging problem when battery is low

I have a fairly new sony vaio laptop with usb 2.0. I've had a 16g touch for about two weeks now and it appeared to charge fine till today. Today was the first day I used it enough to get its battery below 20% (you get a warning) and when I plug it in to my laptop it syncs as usual and the battery charging icon even shows up but after 4-5 hours, the battery graphic is still red -it doesnt seem to have charged very much. I've tried rebooting (both the touch and my laptop) as well as charging my other ipod (a second gen nano) to prove that the ports are fine but that doesnt seem to have fixed this issue. I'd like to know if
    1) This is a genuine battery issue/bug and I need to get the ipod replaced
    2) I need to get an ac charger
    3) Anyone has any other creative fixes...
    Thanks,
    Shishir

You know I had my Nano do that a couple of time now that you mention it. It would sync with iTunes and everything was great (at least I thought). I use my Nano with the Nike+ thing and I belong to a few running challenges so I sync almost daily just to upload the running data. Well one day it went dead and I thought "there's no way" because it would get synced and I'd usually leave it on for a while. Well I check and sure enough it wouldn't charge. I tried all the ports and nothing. Tried my daughters' Nano and it wouldn't charge. Ended up charging my dead Nano on the PS2.
For whatever reason it just started charging again.

  • My ipod touch USB cable is jammed in my laptop. I can't get it out. HELP!

I was charging my ipod, everything was working perfect. Then I accidentally dropped my laptop, and I guess a part of the bigger white section got jammed in there. Now I can't take it out. It won't budge at all! Is there a way to get it out, hopefully without damaging the cord too? :/

I would take it to a place that repairs laptops.  I would not be concerned about the cable but instead be concerned about the laptop.

  • Upgraded to Windows 7 - iPod touch - 'USB device not recognised'

    Hi
I upgraded my laptop to windows 7 a couple of days ago (was XP). worked fine in XP. Just connected it expecting it to install the driver itself or something, but the 'USB device is not recognised'
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Make sure you have the newest version of iTunes, that should fix the issue.

  • IPod touch causes "blue screen" crash on connection

So, following a defrag on my XP based pc, when I connect my iPod touch to the pc via USB, the PC immediately blue screens. (STOP 0x0000007E 0xc00000005 0x00000000 0xf78ed7c4 0xf78ed4c0).
I suspect it may be the iPod touch USB driver? Is that likely? If so, how do I remove the corrupt driver and reinstall?
    Thanks

Thankfully, after a few changes and reviewing some of the other posts in this excellent forum, I have resolved the problem. It had nothing to do with the defrag at all. What I had omitted was that prior to the blue screen, I had installed the free Photoshop Mobile App from Adobe. By editing and saving a photo, a new directory was created in the photo albums. Then when I connected the iPod to my PC, for reasons best known to Aple (but see various other threads in this forum) the pc thought the iPod was a camera, and tried to load a USB camera driver. I assume this must have conflicted with an existing USB driver on my pc, causing it to "blue screen". By totally removing the app and the new album on my iPod, I was able to make my pc recognise the iPod as an iPod again. Shame, I thought the photoshop app was good, but I shall avoid it (and any other app that creates albums / photos) in future.
Is there any obvious way to alert Apple to these sort of problems with third party apps - or possibly with their OS on the iPod which should be able to stop errors like this?
