Is it ipad 1 1st generation - 4th generation or are they completly different as in ipad 1 then ipad 2 then ipad 3 then ipad 4

is it ipad 1 1st generation - 4th generation or are they completly different as in ipad 1 then ipad 2 then ipad 3 then ipad 4

The original or "1st generation" iPad is often referred to as the iPad 1.
The second update to the iPad is referred to as the iPad 2, the 3rd update as the iPad 3 and the fourth update as the iPad 4.
Some people will refer to each update as a "generation" of the iPad, but really what it amounts to is a release of an updated model (an updated model means a new step in generation).  Sometimes, the update is substantial (e.g. the iPad 2 to the iPad 3) and other times less so (e.g. The iPad 3 to the iPad 4).

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

How many iPAD 2 4th generation machines can to connected and sync to the SAME computer?

Just for clarification's sake, there is no "iPad 2 4th-generation". The iPad 2 is the second generation of iPads.

  • IPod Touch 3rd Generation/4th Generation Problems

Okay, i got a new iPod Touch 4th Generation yesterday and im having some troubles. (I also have a 3rd Generation)
My first problem is I bought a seperate (not apple) charger for my 3rd generation. its a black USB cord that connects from the iPod to a wall charger. It's been working perfectly and ever since i tired plugging it into my 4th generation, (i had a bit of trouble putting it in the 4th generation, i first thought that it was too small for it, but then with a little, maybe more, force it went it. And ever since i put it in the 4G its been having connection problems, its like connection thing (on the cord) got messed up, and when i go to pick up my iPod (either one) when it's plugged in, it's like it comes unplugged (but it will be in the iPod) if you move it around a certain way (i've learned not to wiggle it, because of the damages it causes) and it will do that (say its unplugged, when it's not) for a couple of times and then on iTunes it says "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error has occured (0xE8000001)" the thing that confuses me is that i DONT own/have an iPhone. so any help on that?
my second problem is that i was hoping to being able to transfer all my apps on my iPod(3rd G) to my new one (iPod 4G) and i am having trouble with that. It's like iTunes isn't putting the app data onto my library, when i plug in my iPod(3G) i'll press transfer purchased apps, and its like it didn't tranfer anything and when i go to my library on iTunes there will be a little "!" next to an app and if you double click on it then it says "The app '___(name)___' could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" and all the apps that it "cant locate" are STILL on my iPod, and some of the apps that it can't locate are some that i bought.
its a lot of stress that im going thru right now because of these problems, if you can help me out in ANY way possible, can you please do so? thank you very muchh!!!(:

Try getting the "BUMP" app from iTunes. I have it(but I haven't tried it yet.) Supposedly you can use it to transfer Apps "from your iPod to a friends iPod". This may help with the transferring of your apps.

  • I have a problem with syncing my calander with outlook 2007 for iPhone 5s, ipad 1st and 3rd generation. Contacts work find, and new and changed enteries in outlook all go to the devices. Device Cal changes do not appear in Outlook

Over the past year or so, I have been unable to fully sync my iPads with outlook 2007 calander. Now I have an iPhone 5s, and really need the calander fixed. Contacts seem to sync in both directions, and any new or changed cal enteries in outlook appear on the device. The problem is that any new or changed calander enteries do not make ip back to outlook 2007, so there is only one-way syncing (down to the device) but no return, for calander entries.
I am now using the latest itunes, which I followed the recommendation delete all apple stuff, and then reinstall, I have used scanpst, built new PSts, etc, am I am stuck.
    Not using icloud either.
Not using wi-fi, purely USB cabale sync
    Running on Windows XP, SP3
Now IOS 7.0.2 on iPhone and 1 iPad (3rd gen)

    Kept searching, found this: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23321067#23321067
Bottom line: if you follow the recommendation to delte all itunes software and re-install, it don't work (at least for me and many others).
However, purge the data (certain data) and the data syncs.
I think the folder is Apple Computer\Preferences and it needs to be purged.
To be sure, maybe someone can rename the folder on their system, then run itunes and see if it syncs ok.
The idea is to figure out the least minimum stuff that needs to be touched in order to get a working solution than having to purge all Apple software and then rebuild it all over again.
I had purged other files out of inpatience, but did not want to purge entire folders because I had Safari, and Quicktime software, and did not want to wipe that out, Plus there were software downloads and device backups in some of those folders. But I really believe it is the preferences folder, and I would like someone with the same problem to try it and verify it.
Once the preferences folder is removed/renamed (taken out of the picture) pluggin in the device and go to the INFO (I think that is the iTunes tab) page where you select calanders, contacts, email accounts, etc. They will all be unchecked (because you wiped out the preferences) and you need to reselect them. Then run your sync.
What I had done in testing was create something on the device, and modify something else on the device looking to see what got up to Outlook. I got the good news that something good was happening when I got the conflict message from iTunes, and it showed both Outlook and iPhone, showing the calander entry I changed on the iPhone. Never got that before. After the sync, everything looked good the few test entries were uploaded to outlook.
Now, My Cal is 10L+ enteries, and I am doing 100% sync (I don't select the option to ignore enteries over x days). I also have 1400+ contacts. Before this change, the sync of contacts & calanders took a couple of hours (and only operated ONE-WAY, now the syn is taking less than 5 minutes for this one step.
I am a Windows XP Professional user, x32 bit system, using Outlook 2007, iTunes 11.1.1.11, I am standalone (no exchange server) and have about 10 email accounts (mainly POP) defined. I am using only one calander in outlook, but I have Outlook and 2 gmail calanders in the iPhone.
I am running iPhone 5s and iPad 3rd Gen both with IOS 7.0.2 and a 1st generation iPad with the latest version of IOS 5.x.
If anyone else has success, I'd like to hear, along with your experience.

  • Can you switch in your 3rd generation iPad for the 4th generation iPad?

    I have to know!

Contact the retailer where you made your purchase to see what the
return policy is. If you qualify, return the iPad 3 for refund and use
the proceeds toward an iPad 4 when available for purchase. Do not
delay as the clock is ticking on the return policy countdown.

  • HT1386 Trying to such iTunes from my iPad to new iPhone? Instructions are to connect to computer? But just trying to get from iPad to iphone

How do you sync iTunes from iPad to,iPhone5?

    You don't.
You sync each devie to your computer not to each other.
All of your music should be on your computer.  If it is not, then put it there.
You can then sync it to whatever idevice you like.

  • Does iPad support many medical texts?  Are they easy to read on iPad?

Does iPad support many basic medical texts?  Do you get eye strain reading them?

It's a much better idea to purchase the
    - Apple TV 3. Via AirPlay, even 1080p protected movies can be played back at their original quality - as opposed to the very low quality of the composite / component connections. (Closed captions, if any, aren't shown on the Apple TV over AirPlay, though.)
    - as the ATV3 already uses HDMI (so you MUST have a monitor with HDMI input), you can also purchase the HDMI adapter (referred to as "Apple AV Adapter" by Apple) as it allows for HD playback of protected media (see the section "HDCP requirements" at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4108 ). It'll, however, will be a wired connection as opposed to AirPlay - but, at least, CC's will also be shown - and a lot more.

  • HT201471 IPAD 4th generation vs. IPAD Air

Just bought first IPad from Amazon - 4th generation with retinal display 32 gig WiFi.   First, didn't know about AIR model recently released.   Also, didn't get Wi-Fi - ATT.   Can I add ATT later?   Should I return and get the AIR?

Talked to my brother on the phone yesterday. He is wanting to buy an iPad. He read an ad about an iPad with retina display from a dealer. While the iPad air has been out for over a month now there are many third party dealers who still have the older model in stock. Some customers buy these and are unaware that a newer model exists. Others willingly buy the older model because there are offered them at a lower price.
My suggestion is to go with the latest model. Return the iPad with Retina Display and buy the iPad air.
If you want an AT&T cellular iPad you need to include that when you buy the iPad as it cannot be added later.

  • What is the difference between Ipad 3rd Generation,Ipad 4th Generation and Ipad with retina display?

Are they all the same things? Can you please tell me the differences and model numbers?

While the 3rd generation iPad also has a Retina display, it was marketed as simply "The New iPad." The 4th generation is referred to by Apple is the "iPad with Retina display."
The latest iPad features the new smaller Lightning connector, Apple A6X processor, support for 5GHz band Wi-Fi and expanded LTE coverage. Externally, you can tell them apart by the 30-pin connector versus the smaller Lightning connector.

  • Will the iPod Touch 4th Generation get any other updates beyond 6.1.3?

Will the iPod Touch 4th Generation get any other updates beyond 6.1.3?
Also my dad's iPad which is a 2nd Generation got the ios 7 update and also the fact is my iPod touch 4th Generation is alot newer than my dads ipad
Will my 4th generation get any thing similer to the ios 7 update or am I stuck with an outdated ipod touch?

    I doubt it.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory. The 4G only has 256 MB
iOS 6.1.4 was only for the iphone 5 to correct a problem on that device only.

  • My iPad 1st Gen recently Broke, Can Apple Replace it?

I want to know this because I know they've stopped selling Ipad 1st gens, so I wonder how they would handle this, or if they would handle it.

Well I'm guessing you don't have any remaining warranty. They would still be able to replace it, but out-of-warranty replacements are $249.

  • How do I copy photos from my Mac to my iPad without deleting the ones that are there?

I understand how to sync photos from my iPhoto library to my iPad. I want to copy photos from my Mac to the iPad without syncing, because syncing deletes everything on the iPad that isn't included in my sync selections. In addition,I have several iPhoto libraries and want to copy photos from each of them to the iPad. A further issue is that apparently photos can be synced from only one computer to the iPad -- how would I copy photos from a different computer? (What happens when I buy a new Mac?) I am extremely experienced with Mac, iPhoto/Aperture, iPad, etc. A year or two ago I transferred 1000 photos to the iPad but I don't remember how, and it was probably done with my previous Mac. Now I just want to add some recent photos without deleting the ones that are there. Bottom line: is there a way to add photos to an iPad without syncing and losing what's there?

You can still sync the photos and keep the photos that are already on the device. You have to include all of the albums or events in the pictures folder that you sync from. If you are using iPhoto, select that in the Sync Photos from drop down menu and then select all of the albums or events that you want to sync. Make sure to check Selected Albums, events, faces and automatically include (no events). Using that option will allow you to choose exactly which albums and events to sync.
You have to remember that all photos must be included in every sync so you cannot sync photos from iPhoto today and then try to sync photos from another folder tomorrow, or you will erase all of the photos that were synced from iPhoto. You need to maintain one main Photos syncing folder for the photos that you want to transfer to the iPad. You can have subfolders within that one main folder and you can selectively sync those subfolders. You just have to place all of the photos that you want to sync into one main iPad syncing photos folder.
There are WiFi transfer apps that allow you to transfer photos to the iPad without having to sync with iTunes. I use this one. This app (and others like it) will allow you to use multiple computers to transfer photos.
