Is it possible to convert a Mac (Pages) document to Microsoft Works

I was wandering if it's possible to convert a Mac (Pages) document to Microsoft Works? Our main computer that we use is our Mac Desktop Computer but I have an HP laptop (which I'm about to throw out the window) that I sometimes use when I'm working on a project and I get tired of sitting in front of the desktop. My HP laptop has Microsoft works. If converting from Pages to Microsoft Works is possible please let me know how this can be done?

File > Export
Type Export into the help search field and it will highlight the menu for you.
This works for other menu options too.

Word documents don't have a fixed page layout; Word reflows freely if it wants. This isn't normally a problem unless things like typing page numbers is done; avoid that.

  • How do I open my old Appleworks documents which have turned into Unix Executable Files?  I would like to convert them into Pages documents.

How do I open my old Appleworks documents which have turned into Unix Executable Files?  I would like to convert them into Pages documents.  I also have old Word Perfect documents which have become similarly unopenable.

Best bet might be to try opening them using LibreOffice [free] and save them to .doc.
Do you really want to save them as .pages files? You are jumping from the frypan into the fire. Yet another proprietary format that Apple has again deadended with no working translation.

  • Importing Mac Pages Documents

I have some trifold brochures that were created in Mac Pages. They're in landscape format to be folded over and mailed. Importing into the iPad Pages has been pretty much a disaster. First was the font issue (I used fonts that don't exist in iPad. I tried to delete the offending fonts from the source files but every time that I brought the files into the iPad, Pages complained about the fonts. I found it necessary to create new documents from scratch being careful to use only those fonts that exist in the iPad.
When I bring these documents into iPad Pages, several of my text boxes overflow which makes portions of the text invisible. Also, the image bullets (standard Mac Pages image) are roughly five times the correct size. When I try to shrink the images, they disappear completely and are replaced by dots. In an attempt to figure out what was taking place, I created a blank document to investigate and the only difference between "image" and "bullet" is that "image" is a larger dot.
Has any one else had similar difficulties?

Let's hope Apple really is working on this. I bought my iPad 2 hoping to use it as a backup work station for Pages and Numbers, only to find that these Mac and iPad programs aren't truly compatible because of the fonts issue.
So I feel as if I now own a very expensive toy -- on which I'm delighted to have wasted an additional $20 in worthless apps. Who knew Apple would be completely secretive about a major design flaw?

  • I converted a 6 page document to a PDF file but I want to only send page 1.  How can I do that?

I downloaded a document from a website into a PDF file.  It was a 6 page document, but I want to only send page 1 of the document.  I don't know how or if it can be done.

    Larry,
There is more ways than one to do that. I've been extracting a lot of pages lately so that is why I gave you that method. Also, you need to have Acrobat pro to extract pages this way.
But here is another method which should do the same thing hopefully.
Follow the same instructions as the last post I gave you. Get the navigation index up that shows all the 6 pages. Right click on the page that you want to extract. Then click Print. You will then get a Print Box with options. At the top there should be a box that says printer. Use the down arrow on the right side of that box to scroll down to the option that says PDF. Then click the print button that will probably be at the bottom right. This will not print the page. It will extract the document and put it on the screen. Then do file save as and name the document something and put in in a place you will find it and then send it by email.

  • HT3384 I am using Pages v 5.2. How do I convert my older Pages documents to 5.2? When I try to open them I get a notice that I have to use a newer version, which I already have. So I have to go to the "Open with" menu and click on Pages 5.2. Happens every

Every time I want to open a document created in an older version of Pages, I have to right click and select "Open with Pages (default) (5.2). Then it will open but when I close it it is still the old version. I want to be able to simply double click the document I want and have it open. How can I make those older documents into v. 5.2? Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You are opening the old Pages version by mistake. This version is kept after installing the most recent Pages version in case you want to use it again, and I recommend you not to delete it.
I recommend you to put the new Pages version in a place where you can open it easily, for example, in the Dock. The only thing you have to do is to go to Applications folder (open a Finder window and choose Applications in the sidebar), and drag Pages to the Dock. The new Pages version has got this icon:
After putting Pages in the Dock, open it and access to all your documents. They will be converted to Pages 5.2 format if they were not opened with Pages 5.2 before.

  • How do i convert mac pages to pdf and then edit

How do I covert a mac pages document to a pdf and then edit it?

It can't be done using Adobe Reader.
I'm not sure what "Mac Pages" is but typically, you would make changes to those original documents and THEN create a pdf. Editing a pdf can be anything from tedious to impossible depending on what you are trying to edit.

  • Can I convert a web page into a pdf document

With IE it is possible to convert a web page to a pdf document if you have full Adobe Acrobat. Can this be done with Firefox.

    Hi BogdanVladusel,
You cannot convert a webpage to pdf using Adobe PDF Pack. You need to use Adobe Acrobat for the purpose.

  • How do I convert a pdf to a pages document?

I have a pdf document that I need to convert to a Pages document.  Can anyone help me?

If you actually need the text of the PDF file in Pages you'll either have to perform a series of copy and pastes or purchase a program that converts PDF files to text format. Usually the output of such a program requires some editing, it isn't perfect but when the document is long, it sure beats copying and pasting page after page after page.
You can also import a single PDF file into Pages as a graphic file, not a text file. But this might be another solution.

  • Pages document saved as doc not readable by word

    Hi all,
Lately I'm having trouble exporting my Pages documents to Microsoft Word format. I've tried the "Export" option directly available in the File menu, as well as the "Save as a copy" option in the Save dialog box. De document is correctly saved as .doc file and Pages can open, read and modify it, but I'm unable to open the exported document in Microsoft Word on my Windows PC. LibreOffice on my Linux PC does open the file, but doesn't show any of the content. Only some strange symbols are shown.
I'm running Mac OSX Mountain Lion with Pages downloaded from the App Store, so everything is up to date.
Does anyone have the same problem or know how to solve it?
    Thanks in advance!

Since it's obviously not a Pages plist issue, I think more drastic measures are called for.
The simplest would be to run the Mountain Lion 10.8.3 combo updater. In systems past, running the combo updater, even if it had been used before, can clear up some system odditites. It may work, but I think the problem is with Pages. Again, the simplest approach would be to delete Pages & reinstall it and run Software Update. I know you should get the most recent version from the Mac App Store, but this has helped others in the past.  The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user. The easist way to delete iWork '09 is to use Yvan Koenig's AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip.

    Hi Pistonvandrom,
Unfortunately, it is not possible to convert a part of document via Adobe ExportPDF, it is only possible if you use the complete PDF solution Adobe Acrobat.

  • How do I track changes and show redlines on an edited pages document?

I have legal agreements that were sent to me in Microsoft Word.  How can I track and show redline changes when I convert to a Pages document to make my edits.  The redlined changes or edits, then need to be saved back in word doc format and emailed on.
    Thanks,
    Dana

I think the Word document has to be saved with the tracking open so you can see it when you open the document in Pages. In Pages if you don't see the tracking go View > Show Comments, You might need to also go Edit > Track changes
More about this can you read in the Pages User Guide, downlaodable from your Pages Help menu. Chapter 4.

  • Pages 5.0 won't let me add a new page to a 13 page document.

Since updating to Pages 5.0, I have not been able to add anymore pages to a 13 page document I am working on for an art project. The document uses original photographs as a background and a text box over them for the text. In the "Insert" drop down box in the tool bar, everything is grayed out. The program will also not let me copy and paste any of the previous pages so I can't even add a new page that way. I've also just looked to see if there were any restrictions on the file on the "Get Info" menu from the Finder, it still had the file as anyone can read and write to the file, so it can't be that either. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue, and if so, how they managed to work around it?
    Thanks in advance!

Sorry to be "that guy", but i've done that without an issue, I can now add pages by copying previous ones, but now Pages 4.3 groups a new page which is blank, with page 13. It also adds a the copy of the last page below the two that get grouped together.  So basically, I end up with 2 copys of page 13, and the original.

  • Unable to open Pages document after emailing to colleague

I need to send a Pages document to a work colleague, where the document must be in pages format (not pdf or other).
We both use G4 powerbooks, latest tiger and iwork.
But when I email the pages document (via apple mail), two odd things happen:
    - the file arrives at my colleague's email address in zip format, requiring unzipping...
    - the unzipped pages file cannot be opened in pages, instead an error message 'the document cannot be opened' is received.
We've tried using apple mail, thunderbird, webmail, ... but to no avail.
How can a Pages document be emailed, as a .pages file, and then opened by someone else?
    Guidance welcomed.

    RossM,
Peggy explained why you need to zip Pages (and Keynote) documents. Mail.app tries to be smart an zips the files for you.
I recall that I saw a zip attachment in earlier versions of Mail. Now I just see a Pages document icon. When I delete an e-mail with a Pages attachment, it shows up in Trash with a zip attachment.
When I saved the zip attachment (testname.pages.zip) and unzipped it, some strange name appeared. I then simply removed the zip extension from testname.pages.zip and was able to open the file in Pages.
I'm not sure if this behavior is specifically with 10.4.6 and Mail 2.0.7 but check your versions and try to rename the "zip" file.
At least Peggy's suggestion to zip Pages documents before attaching them to an e-mail should work.

  • Making a Pages document compatible with Word and Full-screen view

Hi there! I would like to know if it is necessary to have Microsoft Office installed on my computer in order to be able to save a Pages document as "Microsoft Word" compatible. As of now, when I select the "Save As" option, I'm only able to save my document as a iWork 06 and 05 file. Also, I've noticed that on the video tutorials online, there is a "full-screen" mode and I was wondering if it was available on iWork 08, or if it is only for iWork 09. Thank, and sorry if these questions have been answered before!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
No, you don't need Office installed. That's the whole idea. Go to File > Export & choose Word (or text, rtf or pdf). The option to "save as" Word has been added in Pages 4/iWork '09 as well as in export.
