Is it possible to create a multi row selector in Regular report?

I have to add multi row selector into my reoprt for manipulating with data?
What is the best way to do this?
Regards, Kostya

Hi there,
If anyone is still here in perticular Denes. Denes i have been using your sample application for a while now. it just helps in every problem.
I was looking at your page 38 to update an editable report. i see that your region is of type "SQL Query". how did you include the row selector to show up ??
row selector comes up only if the region is of type Tabular form (updataable). i cant use tabular form as my results comes from a complex query after the user provides some column values and presses search.
In short, i am done with update to the fields but i dont know how i can perform delete as they needs to be something to select the rows to be deleted.
Please helpp!!!

  • Multi Row Selector using Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)

    Hi,
    I created a tabular report which had a multi row select in it - got the deleting working fine.
    Am now creating a second tabular report, but because of the SQL:
    select
    "ID",
    "ID" ID_DISPLAY,
    "RESNUMBER",
    "RESDESCRIPTION",
    decode(RESTYPE,'R','Right Party','W','Wrong Party'),
    decode(DMCFLAG,'Y','Yes','N','No'),
    decode(SALEFLAG,'Y','Yes','N','No')
    from "CALL_RESULTS"
    I have to select the option Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only) otherwise I cannot save the form.
    My problem is I am now unable to add a multi row selector to the tabular form. If I do and run the form I get the following error - failed to parse SQL query: ORA-00904: "COL11": invalid identifier. Also when I go back and edit the form the multi row selector has been removed.
    Can anyone tell me why I can't add a row selector like I previously could?
    Regards
    Simon

    Arie,
    I added aliases and to the decode columns, and I can now add a row selector to the form without any problems.
    Thank you very much for your help.

    Hi..
    An infoprovider is an SAP BW object you can use to create and excute queries .  Info providers include  objects that physically  contain  data ,  for expale ... data target  like info cube ,  ods onjects , and info objects  ( char , att, text or hier ..)
    They also include objects   that do not represent physical data storgae :
    Remote cubes ,  sap remote cubes . and multiproviders.
    info providers are objects or views relevant to reporting ..
    info providers can include
    info cubes ( basic cubes and virtual cubes )
    ods
    char obj ( with attt or text )

  • Possible to create detailed and Summary in same crystal report?

    Hello
    I have worked with cyrstal reports back in 2001. Now I am back to creation of reports. I vaguely remember I was able to create summary and detailed reports from one crystal report file. I don't remember if I was using two different stored procedures or not. Can anybody explain if it is possible to create summary and detailed reports from one crystal report file and with one stored procedure. I am guessing somehow I should be able to control behaviour of report - ie. say if user selects detailed report- report will show all records and if user selects summary view then report will show summarized view of same data.
    If its possible how do you do it? Can you explain.
    Thanks a lot.

    There are a couple of techniques with drilling and sub-reports, but what I do most frequently is create a Detail/Summary  parameter for the user to select, and then have a formula that references this parameter to either hide or display a Detail section of the report sepending on the option the user chooses.  My experience is that most users can relate to this approach better, where as driling and sub-reports can sometimes cause confusion for them.

  • How to create a custom row selector

    I am using APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX in a form. How can I add a row selector checkbox to the heading of the table to select/deselect all of my custom checkboxes? I tried to simply add the build-in row selector function to the report but that just added an additional column of checkboxes. I just need the header row checkbox added.

    Hello,

    Please check the following. I believe it’s simpler than the hijacking business.

  • Set check in row selector checkbox of report via javascript

    This may be a stupid question. I thought I saw the answer here before. I just can't seem to find it.
    I have an updateable report that allows users to enter data. The issue is unless they check the row selector checkbox, when they submit, the row is not processed. I want to put an onchange event on the columns to automatically check the rowselector box when something is changed on the row. Any ideas? Possibly a link to a previous post.
    Thanks

    On the field that you update set the onchange event to call a function similar to the following: onchange=setRowSelectorState(this);
    In the HTML Header section put a function definition similar to the following:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function setRowSelectorState(pThis){
    -- get current row number
    -- thanks Patrick Wolf (http://www.inside-oracle-apex.com/2007/01/accessing-tabular-form-cell-with.html)
    var vRow = pThis.id.substr(pThis.id.indexOf('_')+1); -- gets current row number
    -- get row selector for current row assuming its field 'f01_'
    var cbxField = html_GetElement('f01_' + vRow);
    -- add some logic if need be
    var mytest = 0;
    if (mytest == 0) {
    cbxField.checked = true;
    } else {
    cbxField.checked = false;
    </script>
    Simple example but it works. See Patrick's link above to a more detailed example.

  • Is it possible to create Detail entity row before Master entity row?

    Hi All,
    I have a Master - Detail relationship. When I insert a row into the detail entity, I need to create a corresponding master record. Is this even possible? I've been fiddling with different association relationships, this.setNewRowState() commands, etc. for the past 12 hours and haven't made much progress. I came across this: http://adfjsf.blogspot.com/2010/12/row-statusinitialized-and-statusnew.html which gives me hope, but I can't for the life of me figure it out.
    Basically, I'm trying to override the Detail entity's create method with the following:
        RowSet addressId = (RowSet)this.getDocAddresses();
        NameValuePairs nvp = new NameValuePairs();
        Row row = addressId.createAndInitRow(nvp);
        row.setNewRowState(STATUS_INITIALIZED);
        addressId.insertRow(row);I get a "Detail entity Quotes with row key [null] cannot find or invalidate its owning entity" error. If I take off the composition association, I get an error saying the Qutoes row cannot be created.
    If you want to checkout my use case, you can do so here: How to create a master entity record from the detail entity.
    Any ideas?
    Will

    Here's another use case.
    In accounting software, documents such as Invoices and Deliveries create financial transactions. So say we have three tables: Deliveries, Invoices, Transactions. In the database, Transactions needs to be a Master table, Deliveries and Invoices the Detail table. This means that Deliveries and Invoices must have an associated financial transaction. To switch the dependencies around the other way (Order/Deliveries be the Master, Transactions the Detail) wouldn't work due to the foreign key dependencies i.e. The same transaction would have to be a child of both Orders and Deliveries, which would be incorrect.
    However, in the JDeveloper application an Invoice row (the Detail) would need to be created first, and then the Transaction (Master) would be created second. This seems like a logic sequence best created at the entity level. When I try to accomplish this, I get a row null or row cannot be created error. This is leading me to believe that in the JDev application, I will need to "lie" and reverse the association, putting the Delivery/Invoice as the Master and the Transaction as the detail.
    Is this the best way to go about solving this problem? I don't like putting in associations that don't match the database structure, but if I can't create a Master entity row from a Detail entity, it's looking like that's my best route.

  • Multi row update in sql Report

    Hi All,
    I had created a Updatable SQL report , and the SQL query fetches data from four table and JOIN condition also exists.
    Currently I can Update only one row at a time but what I want is to update multiple row at same time. Is this possible without TABULAR FORM ?
    Thanks
    Dikshit

    Hi
    The whole concept of a Tabular form is that it shows a table of updatable rows. These can be modified and then when the user clicks "Update" all the rows that have been changed will be updated on the base tables.
    There is no wizard to do this any other way. However there is something in APEX called htmldb collections. These are essentially virtual tables that can hold data temporarily in memory. You could consider using a form to update each record individually, then when the user clicks "Save" it writes the updated form data to an htmldb collection. The user could then click "Update All" and all the data in the htmldb collection could be updated on the base tables.
    htmldb collections are well documented in the HTMLDB Users Guide.
    I hope this helps,
    Cj

  • Row Selector Checkbox in Report throws "wwv_flow.accept" Error when checked

    Hello all,
    I ran into some time consuming trouble on
    a page of an assistant flow contains a report regions. Users shall select one or many rows from the report.
    The checkbox was added as a linked column and formatted as "Simple Checkbox".
    After submitting to the "NEXT" page an item :Px_MYEVENTS shall collect the ID column value of all selected rows.
    The page process "After Submit" shows:
    +:P2_Myevents := apex_util.table_to_string(apex_application.g_f01,';');+
    It is expected that only selected rows appear on the item, because we need this for further activities.
    On testing strange things happens:
    If no selection is done, the target page appears, the item :Px_Myevents contains the values of all rows
    When a selection is done, the branch error "wwv_flow.accept" appears, :Px_Myevents doesn't contain a value.
    This throws even when the code is used as a DA of type PLSQL - statement or function
    How do I get the expecte behaviour?

    Apex Version is 4.1.1 on Oracle 11GR2 XE

    Hi,
    Always state
    <ul>
    <li>Apex Version</li>
    <li>DB Version and edition</li>
    <li>Web server used.I.e. EPG, OHS, ApexListner Standalone or with J2EE container</li>
    <li>When asking about forms always state tabular form if it is a tabular form</li>
    <li>When asking about reports always state Classic / IR</li>
    <li><b>Always post code snippets enclosed in a pair of &#123;code&#125; tags as explained in FAQ</b></li>
    </ul>
    The following line ought to work they way you want it to , I have used this construct without issues
    :P2_Myevents := apex_util.table_to_string(apex_application.g_f01,';');
    If no selection is done, the target page appears, the item :Px_Myevents contains the <b>values of all rows</b>This suggests that all checkboxes are being treated as checked.
    You need to check why they are being treated as checked. Depends how they are rendered and if they are being manipulated in some way.
    The other point to consider is the Processing Point. The above process must run before ApplyMRU/ApplyMRD.
    You could try running the form in debug mode to see if it revealing anything in the Debug Report.
    The other way is to put it up on apex.oracle.com for someone to take a closer look at it.
    Cheers,

  • Multi Row Text Item (Not Text Area)

    Is it possible to create a multi-row text item for entering data i.e. a text area WITHOUT a scrollbar?. I know exactly how many rows I need e.g. an address field
    The scroll bar looks terrible on printouts when printing off data entry forms.
    Also any way of having ruled lines appear in the multi row text field?
    regards
    Paul

    Hello,
    No, just use three text items. or a textarea with the style ="overflow:hidden;" should supress the scrollbar

  • Creating a New Row Using an ADF Iterator Binding without primary key value

    I dropped a Create action onto a DataAction which forwards to a UIX entry page which contains an enabled Commit button. Part of the primary key value is held in a session bean and it is also current in another view on the model side, but I am unable to access this value to set the EntityImpl primary key attribute.
    Upon submission the following error message is returned from the model:
    ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("GTR"."EMPLOYMENT"."ACCOUNT")
    I would like to accomplish this with databinding and not create a custom create method on the application model. Is there a way to update the binding value for the new row in cache before the submission? Any advice would be welcome.

    I should add that I want the user to enter every attribute value, except for the account number. It must be possible to create a new row and have the account number supplied to the bindings another way.
