Is it possible to create a script..

Is it possible to create and run a script at startup that will not just open safari, but log in to specific websites? and maybe even open up several websites on different tabs?
I already know that i can open applications at startup through System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items.
I'm not good with the coding of scripts, especially through Mac :/
Thanks in advance
Kev

This is isn't a script but it may do what you want. I just tested it and worked good for me. Create a bookmarks folder that has what you want to open at Safari startup. Look under Safari in the menu bar. Choose Preferences then General and *New Windows Open with:*. Now pick *Choose Tabs Folder* from the drop down menu. Pick whichever folder you want to open at log in.
When you have done this you can put Safari in the Log In items you described and it will open to those tabs when you start your computer.

  • Is it possible to create a script that does this?

    Hey there,
I can work my way around a Mac pretty well, but as for coding, I'm not as good. Hopefully someone will know how to do what I'm looking for:
I do a lot of school assignments on my computer, and I've recently utilized an online service that allows me to sync up my files on my computer with their servers (like MobileMe, but not). Anyway, this is great and all, but this service is virtually useless if I'm trying to access a Pages publication via my school's computers which run Windows and, consequently, Microsoft Word 2007. However, they ALSO run Adobe Reader. Is it possible to create a script that, every time I save a Pages publication, automatically creates a PDF export of that same file in the directory where I'm working? Also, when I update the Pages file, it'll automatically update the PDF file?

Saving a script as a Script, an Application or an Application bundle requires the use of the Script Editor as explained in the System (Finder) help.
    step 1:
open the script in the Script Editor
    step 2:
compile it clicking the "Compile" button
    step 3:
Save the script from the "File > Save" menu:
To save as "script" select the "script" menu item
To save as "Application" select the "Application" menu item
To save as _"Application Bundle"_ select the _"Application Bundle"_ menu item
The files which I post are saved thru the "Text" menu item which attache the extension name ".applescript" telling that it's an _Applescript's text file._
All these infos are given in resources pointed by my late messages !
Now are infos which maybe you will not find in the Apple's resources
I use the text (.applescript" format because it embeds nothing related to my machine.
To work from the Scripts menu, my best choice is "Script" which appears to be the fastest one.
"Application" is slower and sometimes gives odd results on MacIntels.
"Application Bundle" behaves well on every machines but is slower than "Script".

  • Is it possible to create a script to produce a high res and low res pdf and jpeg from Indesign at the same time

Hi, I'm just wondering if there is a way to automate a long process I have to do to create assets for my job.
I have a single page InDesign 6 file which I have to output three ways:
A low res pdf without bleed or trims
A high res pdf with bleed and trims
A low res jpeg downsized to 2% of original size.
If anyone knows if this is possible I'd love to hear from you.
    Thanks in advance

Automation requires creating your own IDML script for output. Scroll down on this page to the section on Scripting resources. The text is a bit confusing. It says InDesign CS5 Scripting resources, but then the paragraph for that section says the PDF files are for CS6. I haven't read through these, I just found them by searching for "indesign automation". It does say in part that is can be used for preparing files for printing, so once you figure it out, it should be a single click option to do all three steps.
You can do them now with the menus you have, assuming you also have Acrobat Pro installed. With any document open, choose File > Adobe PDF Presets, and choose either from the prebuilt defaults, or create your own in the Distiller. However, I don't see a way in the Distiller settings to choose whether or not to include bleed and marks, so I'm not really sure how you'd have them on for one and not the other. As far as JPEG output, that can be chosen under Export. You get a choice to set a resolution and JPEG quality level, but not a size, so the output will be the dimensions of the document.

  • Is it possible to create a script that would convert 1/1/2013 (m/d/yy) to 01/01/2013 (mm/dd/yyyy)?

Thanks in advance. Based on the feedback that I have received on my forms, I have found that users get frustated with the alert regarding the date not being formatted as mm/dd/yyyy. Is there a way to convert their entry of m/d/yy to mm/dd/yyyy? Thanks for your input and advice.

Thanks for your response! I'm not exactly sure why this isn't working... The format string is "mm/dd/yyyy" with no validation, just format... When I enter a date as "5/1/2013", an alert appears "Invalid date/time: please ensure that the date/time exists. Field [xxxxxxxxxx] should match format mm/dd/yyyy". If I enter the date as "05/01/2013", no alert appears. Am I missing something? Thanks for your help.

  • Is it possible to create an Apple Script to import data from a web data feed (RESTful XML/JSON)?

Before I get started looking for a programmer, does anyone know if it will be possible to create a script that will allow Numbers to connect to an external data feed in either XML or JSON? I want to enable some colleagues who use Mac to connect to the same data feed that Excel for Office connects to.. Thanks,

It is definitely not hard to import XML or JSON data via an AppleScript. As an amateur tinkerer, I found a way, for example, to bring in OFX data from my bank (OFX is a flavor of XML) using the XML parser built into System Events, which is AppleScriptable.
How satisfied your colleagues would be with the solution, though, will depend on what you mean by "connect to an external data feed." If you are dealing with datasets in the thousands of rows and need frequent and rapid response, then you may not be happy. In that kind of situation you would need to expect at least a few seconds of wait time every time you "refresh."
If, as in my case, you have only a few hundred rows and don't need to bring the data in every few seconds, then the AppleScript solution is very practical. The programmer could probably goose the performance and make the job easier by using AppleScript as a wrapper for a script in Python or another language that is faster than AppleScript at parsing XML and JSON.

  • Is it possible to write a script that changes swf export settings?

I want to be able to export a swf file that uses a different text anti-alias setting. Is it possible to create a script that can set and export a swf file to my specifications?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
Is it possible to create a script that can set and export a swf file to my specifications?
It seems there isn't. A script cannot add basic functionality, only access it. In this case, you can't change the setting because there is no 'antialias text' setting in the SWF export settings.
However, all is not lost. Google turned up this helpful page; it might be possible to edit your SWF after exporting and then re-save it.

  • Create test scripts using e-Tester without using visual scripts

I'm new researching on e-Test suite.
I have the following question. Is there any possibility to create test scripts to run automatic tests without using the visual scripts created by e-Tester?
Today, we are using Selenium to make Web based tests and this tool is included in a custom framework developed in Java. So, we don't use record and play. Directly we create code using objects, methods and attributes provided by Selenium api.

You can create a dummy java agent script that can that call your module. The java agent script can then be automated to run in e-Load.
    1) e-tester menu ->options->New Scripts (global) -> Advanced -> Java Agent: Check on "Create Java Agent Script.." and the other 2 check boxes.
    2) menu -> File -> New Script
    3) Do Nothing. No navigations, ect...
    4) menu -> File -> Save Script i.e. "empty"
    5) Download and install Eclipse IDE (other IDEs should work but you need to create your own project)
    6) Eclipse -> Menu -> File -> Import -> General -> Existing Project into workspace: Select the root directory that contains the etester generated Java Agent script prefixed with the underscore "_" i.e c:\ETS\etest\Default!\_empty
    7) Once imported I suggest you call your module from within scriptCallback.class EndScript(RunState, ScriptResult);
7b) When you get better at this you can return errors by changing the ScriptResult() object and view stats from the RunState() object.
    8) You will have to modify the Eclipse Project to be dependent on your jars if you want to debug in eclipse. Secondly there are 2 batch files. These two batch files create the *.JWG file which is just a renamed .JAR file.
    9) You MUST modify the batch files to create the new Empty.JWG including your *.JAR files.
    10) I recommend compiling in eclispe and only running the makefileNocompile.bat (after you add the *.jar inclusion). Ignore the makefile.bat unless you also change the javac.exe execution line to include all the correct classpaths.
    11) Once you are happy with running in Eclipse you should be able to execute in eload. I recommend you test the procedures steps 5 through 10 before adding your own module and code.

Is it possible to create a workspace in a program or with a script?
    Thanks, Jack

    Hello Jack,
Please check if the following can help you - Re: Account setup for 100 users - script included .
If you find it useful, you’ll need to remember to adjust the flow schema to your current APEX version.

  • Is it possible to create a cmdlet using PS script ?

Mostly cmtlets are compiled code which are written in c#. Is it possible to create powershell cmdlets using powershell script ?
    -Pranav

That's what Advanced Functions are.  (The original name for Advanced Functions was "Script Cmdlets".)  Check out the about_Functions_Advanced, about_Functions_Advanced_Methods, and about_Functions_Advanced_Parameters help files for more information
    on this topic.
I'm not surprised, once more, that this rubbish-ell coder spreads wrong concepts about PowerShell.
If this rubbish-ell coder cared to read the about_* mentioned, he would have read that
    advanced functions and
    compiled cmdlets have differences!
If the two halves of his brain are not 'smoked' he may conclude that two things that have differences cannot be considered the same (I don't know if his brain has been completely 'smoked').
It's my obligation to mark this post as ABUSIVE for spreading wrong PowerShell concepts.
David is a pro and you are a troll. The OP's original question was:
"Is it possible to create powershell cmdlets using powershell script ?"
He did not ask whether it was possible to create Compiled Cmdlets with Powershell code. If an advanced function works exactly like a compiled cmdlet at the command line then it qualifies as a cmdlet. I spend a lot of time writing such cmdlets
and they are exactly that - cmdlets!
Conceptually, David is exactly right. No one said there are absolutely no differences between the two, but expounding on the concepts of using Powershell is not the same as trying to call out everyone here on tiny little nitpicks, which
is what you are doing (abuse).

  • Execute create trigger script in a procedure

Is it possible to create a trigger with pl/sql?
I have made a procedure thats makes the create or replace trigger statement.
(when i copy and past the statement the trigger is created succesvol)
How can i execute the create trigger statement on the end of the procedure?
    Thanks.

Well, then proceed with dynamic SQL.
Or, in my opinion much better: produce a SQL script with variables for table name and trigger name.
Then run this script with the appropriate values every time you have created a table.
    Cheers,

  • Is it possible to create a custom display type in DIAdem, for example a speedometer type instrument?

As an example I have velocity data which shows a vehicle accelerating from rest to 60 km/h and then travelling at a constant speed. As opposed to displaying this data using a 2D axis system is it possible to create a new speedometer display type to display this information? Maybe this display type already exists but I have not come across it yet? I've been using DIAdem for a few days now. The current version I am using is 11.2. It has been suggested in the past that it was possible to display data using numeric displays etc but I can't seem to find the features in v11.2. Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hey Matthew,
I'm sorry for the [extremely] delayed reply - I have been out of the office (and out of the country) for two weeks with extremely limited email access.  I've attached the files that I used to create the example you saw in the YouTube video embedded above.  Please note that I threw this together pretty quickly for the video, and that it is not "commercial quality."  Use this as a proof-of-concept upon which to elaborate to get started.
    The parts are:
    CAN Synchronization.tdv
This is the DIAdem VIEW Layout that contains the video, map, 2D axis, and embedded user dialog with ActiveX gauge control.  Think of this as the "user interface" you see in the video.
    Gauge.sud
This is the scriptable user dialog (SUD) box that is embedded in the VIEW Layout described above.  It contains the ActiveX control which I have affectionately named "MyGauge."
    DisplayCursorCommand.vbs
This is the short script that is designed to react to the event that fires when the cursor is playing in DIAdem VIEW.  I have commented all 5-ish lines with their functionality.
In order to register the script so that it fires in reaction to the event when the cursor is playing, I chose to register it as a DIAdem UserCommand (Settings » Options » Extensions » User Commands) and then run the line of code:
    View.Events.onCursorChange = "DisplayCursor"
You could do this elsewhere within some other script.
Let me know if you have any questions!

  • Is it possible to create a secure empty trash shortcut in file menu?

I have second finger click enabled so that I can quickly move files to the trash bin from the contextual menu. This is fine and dandy, however, for files containing sensitive informaton, I'd like to have a "Secure File Delete" option available (file bypasses the trash bin and is wiped after selecting said option).
I've searched the threads and checked system prefs. Only options are to change "empty trash" to "secure empty trash". This wouldn't work as I have more files that are typically trashed and not wiped. It'd be nice to have it available as a convenience I suppose
I know theres an app in the app store that offers this functionality. It's $3-4.
So my question...is it possible to create such a contextual menu option on my own?
heres an example of what I'm ltalking about...

Create a new Service in Automator.
Set it to receive files an folders in the Finder.
Drag in an Ask for Confirmation action if you want it.
Drag in a Run Shell Script action from the Utilities section of the Library.
Set it to Pass Input as Arguments and Replace the code with:
    srm -r "$@"
--That's ess-ar-em for Secure ReMove (just copy and paste)
Save it and it will show up in the Services menu when you right-click on an item in the Finder.
There are options you can add to it like -s for simple, -m for medium. The default (without options) is 35-pass Gutman.
You can see what options are available by opening Terminal and typeing
    man srm
Hit space to scroll down. Q to quit the man page.
The Verbose and Interactive options won't work since you can respond.
Note that depending on the algorithm chosen, it may take some time for the file/folder to disappear from the Finder view.

  • Is it possible to create and process PO with the line without value?

    Hi,
I am wondering whether is it possible to create and process the PO with the lines without the value?
I was thinking that this process would allow me to better track and understand the pallets which arrive to the site so I have set up the pallet as a material but systems doesn't allow me to order the line (pallet) without value?
Or maybe there is other way which will allow me to track the pallets within the system?
    Many thanks,

    Dave,
Thanks for the reply. Of all the suggestions I've received this seemed to
be most promising. I gave it a try and the problem is that when I attempt
to save as optimized a message box pops up and says I have to save my
document first. Low and behold when I save it, compression occurs. Even
when I select the options you suggest I'm left with a compressed document.

without any compression to the resulting .PDF?
You don't want the UncompressPDF plugin - that's designed to split out the
COS objects but doesn't remove the Flate encoding (plus if you've never
compiled a plugin before, it's not really the time to learn).
Instead, simply save your PDF file using the PDF (Optimized) file type,
click the Settings button and under "Clean Up" - "Object compression
options", choose "Remove compression". Turn everything else off if you
want to retain the PDF content exactly as it was before.
Your document-level scripts will then be in the file as plain text.
