Is it possible to defer panel updates on the PDA?

Dear comunity members,
I have performance problems with my PDA application.
Mainly while LEDs are blinking, properties change, tab
indicators change and string changes.
At this very moment I stil use the 8.0.1 PDA toolkit because
I cant get the 8.2 running on my target but this is another
story.
I would like to defer panel updates while changing proberties and
other things. Is this possible with the PDA toolkit?

You are right the function does what it should do but where is the sense?
You defer the panel updates to inc. speed. OK
Why is it nessesary to make a redraw before the panel is froozen?
When we talk about performance we talk about embedded conputers too.
They are mostly passive cooled and they have less performant CPUs.
If you do a panel redraw without the need you loose performance again.
From my point of view it doesn't make sense and it is a bug even when the
maual descibes the function as is.

Graph does not autoscale when it's value is updated in a subvi and Defer Panel Updates is on

Hello,
I have a main VI containing several xy grpahs, which I update from a sub vi. In order to cut down on front panel redraws I defer panel updates while the graph values are updated and then redraw the FP after this has been done. However when I do this the graphs do not autoscale properly. I've attached two vi's as an example. Run the Main vi, if the Defer Panel Updates boolean is false then everything works fine, if it is true then the graph does not autoscale.
I have found a previous post that mentions something similar (here). Has this been fixed or is there a work around.

Thanks for your reply, it fixed the problem. However it has thrown up a different but related issue.
In my application the user can select how many graphs to display and I
programmatically calculate the size and position of each graph. If any
of the graphs overlap, even slightly, and defer panel updates is on
then only the topmost graph autoscales correctly, the others don't at
all, although the data they display gets updated. Turning autoscale off
and on again for a particular graph rescales that graph, presumably
because it has been forced to.
I have attached a test case with 4 graphs. The size and position of the
graphs are set by the 'Offsets' cluster. Click 'Rearrange' to get it to
recalcute the positions. If you change the Vertical Gap or Horizontal
Gap values to 0 or negative then the graphs will overlap. With Defer
Panel Updates off there is no problem. With it on only the topmost
graph updates properly.
My current workaround is to ensure the graphs don't overlap, but I'm guessing they shouldn't be doing this anyway.

[Bug?] Defer Panel Update not working when changing scale property

Hi,
I found that Defer Panel Update [when True] does not work properly when changing the scale fit property of an intensity graph.
Try the VI.
When Defer Panel Update is True, and you change the Numeric controls, the Intensity graph is not updated (as expected).
But now change the "Z Scale.Scale Fit" button and.... the Intensity graph is updated (only the Z-color, not the axis).
This looks to be a bug to me!

Defer Panel Updates not working for XY graph

I am using an XY Graph in Labview 8.2. I am making a lot of color changes and want to improve execution time by defering the panel updates while changing the colors. I set the VI/Panel/DeferPanelUpdates to true and do the updates. I can see the other controls on the panel are deferred, but the XY graph continues to redraw. I can't see a way to defer the updates separately to the XY Graph.
I am only doing the defers for the color changes, if I defer the initial data input the color changes throw an error,

How about this for a work-around?
After defering the FP update, set the graph invisable then set the plot colors.
Prior to undefering, set the graph visable.
This works for me. Does it help your application?

On Thursday January 26th Adobe will be releasing a hot fix. As part of this deployment we are going to force users of certain legacy Folio Builder panels to update their panel to the latest version. Users with panels older than the 1.1.8 installer (Folio Builder panel 11.4.3.20111129_m_672305) as shown in the about box available in the flyout menu of the Folio Builder panel, will be required to update.
Note that this update does not require updating your Folio Producer tools, your app on the iTunes store, Viewer Builder or any other DPS component. This is only a Folio Builder panel update. The Folio Builder panel is backward compatible with older versions of the Folio Producer tools.
Users that do not want to be impacted when we release the hot fix can update to a supported panel now.

Is it possible to un-suppress updates in AAMEE packages?

After creating a Creative Suite CS5.5/6 package with AAMEE (updates suppressed in options), is it possible to un-suppress updates once the package is deployed to the machines by editing a .plist file or similar (Macs in this case)?

Yes this is possible. I am not sure why you created the packages with updates turned off, I assume it suited at the time, the reason I bring this up is. By using the Enterprise IT Tool RUM (Remote Update Manager) you could continue to keep updates turned off so the client doesn't manually try and bring them in but instead only does so when you send a command to the clients. The command would be issued to clients through a 3rd party deployment tool like SCCM, Casper, Alteris. This way they are installed as admin and only on your designated schdule. This might not be appealing but I wanted to make you aware of it. The Enterprise Deployment guide will give you more information about the overide file required to change the update options and RUM can be found in Adobe Labs http://labs-staging.macromedia.com/technologies/aameetools/

I updated to the latest version of mozzilla and now I can'topen it, It is saying to close the mozzilla already opened, there is not one opened.

I can not open mozzilla after updating to the latest version. I click on it and nothing happens. I tried to uninstall but it tells me to close the mozzilla that is opened. I do not see any opened.

Did you check: File > Work Offline

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Option for disabling front panel Update?

I just wanted to know is there any option in the VI properties or somewhere to disable the updation of Front panel controls and Indicators?. When I run an RT code it has a big cluster so when I open that vi the whole RT gets hanged and getting restarted giving an error message as software error, I want to fix this and debug the RT code. Any suggestion please.

Are you looking for 'Defer Front Pannel' property?
Also, don't use the FP for RT code. any way it does not going to help after you building the RT EXE.
Even, you can use the 'Shared Variable' to debug the RT code and pass the data between RT and Windows.

Changes to Text Ring Items in Type Def not Updated in Copies

In LabVIEW 2010, I have Type Definition which is a Cluster that contains several Controls including a Text Ring control.
If I go into the Type Definition and Edit the Items in the Text Ring, those changes to the Items in the Text Ring do not show up in the "copies" of the Type Definition control on my Front Pane, even though the "Auto-Update from Type Def." feature is checked.
How do I get changes to the Items in a Text Ring in a Cluster in a Type Definition Control to show up in all of the "copies' of the Type Definition on my Front Panel?
I shouldn't have to edit the same Items in the same Text Ring in multiple places.

What you see is normal behaviour of rings. The general advice is to use an enum instead of a ring. Rings are useful as FP elements which you want to populate during run-time.
I guess this is the best option you have, replace the ring by an enum inside your type def and hope it's all fine...
Another option you can try if you need to have it as a ring, is to make it a strict type def. I'm not sure but I would expect it to propagate the ring text to all instances. On the other hand, you can't programmatically set the ring text as long as it's a strict type def, so to get the bahviour of a ring again, you will need to revert back to a normal type def.

If you just installed iCloud does that mean you updated the iOS that's running on your iPad? If so, you'll want to restore all the programs you have from the backup you hopefully made.

Adobe Exchange Panel Update not working?

Hello:
My OS is Windows 7 64 bit and I have Ps and Ia installed on my laptop.
I downloaded and installed the Adobe Exchange roughly two months ago and everything worked great at first.
I installed a few things such as the Paper Textures and a game Level Up (can't recall the others at the moment).
The game worked three times but then it just stopped responding. I never had an issue with the other extensions.
Yesterday I went to try out the game again but when i opened the Exchange panel it said there was a new update and so i (sadly) opted to click 'Update'
After clicking the update button I received a message:
Also, Norton said the link or what have ya was NOT trusted and is Unknown. So, I clicked on the Norton message and got this info:
Heuristic virus? um, what?

I went ahead and Removed all the extensions I had downloaded/installed from the Exchange panel but I would very much like to be able to use them again.
Any ideas as to the issue? Is there a solution?

You are totally misunderstanding me. I have Windows 7 64 bit and I did have the Exchange Panel already installed. When I went to use the Exchange PanelIT had an update. I didNOT update to Windows 8.
I clicked on the UPDATE IN the Exchange Panel which is what would NOT install because NORTON said it IS MALWARE.
I tried to update the Exchange Panel and NOT my operating system.
The attempt to Update the Exchange Panel caused the older version of the Exchange Panel to not work. So, I had to Uninstall the Exchange Panel and then when I went to Reinstall the Exchange Panel it would NOT install. And now I cannot use it at all.
Again, I DO have Windows 7 and NOT Windows 8.
Please, I would very much like to be able to use the Exchange Panel again because I would like to install some extensions, let me know when this issue is resolved.
