  • Suddenly can't open some of my jpeg files, says error-43

    Dear All,
    I'm currently using OS X Leopard 10.5.1. I have a NTFS formatted HDD connected to my OSX, to store and share data with another Windows PC in my network. I installed MacFuse and NTFS-3G to enabled me to write and read from that particular HDD.
    Recently, I found out that some of my jpeg files and a particular zipped files can't be accessed. When I tried to access it, it says "Unknown error-43" or similar.
    When I tried to delete it, it can't be deleted (can't be copied or anything else). Tried to drag it to Desktop, but it doesn't allow me to (it shows a small icon of the "not allowed" sign). I also noticed that in my trash bin there's a file that can't be cleaned as well (even though I tried to emptied the trash), the file name is some weird characters and ends in .?: or something. If I dragged that file to Desktop, it'll be gone and trash emptied, but if I tried to access one of the "missing jpegs" file, it'll show up again.
    I also connect another external HDD for my Time Machine, but when I found out it performs so slow and tend to freeze my Mac, I disconnect it and stop using Time Machine. When I connect the HDD again, it doesn't backed up the file I'm trying to find.
    What gives? Any thoughts would be appreciated

    The error, 43 is a "file not found" error or some such similar thing:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1618
    It sounds as if the file has become corrupted and while it shows up in the directory it may not exist or it may be corrupted.
    I suggest that you deal with these files in the Windows environment. In OS-X they sometimes show up as "ghost" files when trashed, because the trash bins are "shared" and OS-X cannot delete a Windows file even though it can be put into the trash.
    Accessing files between Windows and Leopard must be done very carefully since each OS may "touch" the file and change it in some way that the other OS cannot deal with it, as you may be finding out.
    It's best to copy a file into OS-X and then deal with it, and vice-versa when in Windows, and never directly access it with another app.

  • Possible to make some texts private

    Is it possible to make some text message exchanges private, i.e., only visible with password?
    Bought an app call My Secret Folder which allows that for photos, etc., but can't find a way to make it work with texts.
    Thanks.

    Can you make a recommendation?
    As above, bought one that said "private text" but that feature doesn't see to exist yet.

  • Editing Actual Text in PDF File

    Is there any way or a third party software that will allow me to actually edit text in a PDF???
    Right now, I have a PDF file that was emailed to me for printing and some text in the file needs to be modified. I would just like to edit the actual text instead of waiting for the sender to edit the text in whatever program they used to create the PDF from.
    I presently have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks!
    Mike

    The Adobe Reader for SymbianOS isn't a PDF editor. You'd need Acrobat
    for that, using the Text Touch-up Tool.

  • 1.is it possible to read a .xls file and load it into an oracle table

    1.is it possible to read a .xls file and load it into an oracle table, using oracle database or oracle forms i.e. either utl_file, or text_io, or any other oracle tool.
    As far as I know we need a csv file or a txt ( tab delimited) file ?
    2.Are there any windows tools for the same

    Hi,
    If you want to use the DDE package to read the XLS file then yes, you will neeed to know the number of rows and columns in the input file.
    i.e. How will you know :
    1) How many columns are there in the input file.
    If I have a XLS file with the following data :
    R1C1 R1C2 R1C3 R1C4 R1C5 R1C6 R1C7
    xxx xx x
    Where R represents row and C represents column, then how will you know the each row has 7 columns. If you know the answer upfront, then it's not a issue.
    Using the DDE apprach, you will have to specify the RowNum and the ColumnNo of each idividual cells to read/write data from xls sheet.
    Look at the syntax in my ealier post.
    using the other approch (i.e. comma delimited text file - CSV file) , you need not know the number of columns as you can loop thru the input record till the last column is read.
    All you have to do is to look for the 'n' occurances of the field delimiter say ',', do a substr from the current position to the point where the ',' was found.
    This process is to be repeated in a loop till all columns are read.
    The TEXT_IO package can trap for EOF (End Of File).
    Hope I made myself clear.

  • Is there a way to edit a PDF file without converting it into a word document?

    Is there a way to edit a PDF file without converting it into a word document?

    Then you posted in the wrong forum...
    At any rate, you can use the Edit Text & Images tool (under Tools - Content Editing) to make changes to the file. You'll need to be a bit more specific about what you want to change if you want more detailed instructions.

  • How do you edit a jpeg file and add callouts and save it again as a jpeg file?

    I opened a jpeg file in Acrobat Pro XI and edited the photo adding callouts. It was saved again as a PDF, and when reopened all of the callouts where there.  I tried to save it as a jpeg file, and when repoened all of the callouts were gone.  How do I save the file as a jpeg and have the callouts show?

    Hi Firepros1,
    You may try exporting file as PNG or TIFF instead of jpeg.
    Let me know if that helps.

  • How can FMS create a text file and write data into it in the Server application folders?

    Recently, I writed a programe about creating a text file and writing data into it in the server application folder. My code is as following:
               var fileObj = new File("/MyApp/test.txt");
               if( fileObj !=  null)
                      if(fileObj.open( "text", "append"))
                            fileObj.write( "                                                      ———— Chat Info Backup ————\r\n" );
                            fileObj.close( );
                            trace("Chat info backup document :" +  fileObj.name + " has been created successfully!");
    But when I run it, FMS throw the error as following: File operation open failed  ;  TypeError: fileObj has no properties.
    Can you help me ? Thanks in advance.
    Supplement: The text file named test.txt doesn't exist before create the fileObj, an instance of File Class.

    Is MyApp the name of the application directory, or is it a child of the application directory? If myApp is the app name, just use test.txt as the path flag in the file constructor.

  • Keynote won't let me edit some text

    Suddenly I'm unable to edit some of the text in my Keynote. The text I'm trying to edit is not in my master slide but some are animated. Some of the text is editable.

    As a workaround; create a new slide and enter text, then delete the corrupt slides.

  • Is it possible to put some data, such as numeric and string, on the pront panel

    Hi guys,,,
    Is it possible to put some data,such as numeric or string as input data on the front panel? In general, I only know how to create text file by using notepad, for example,
    after that open and read that text file to show on the table control and plot XY graph. On the other hand, If I don't want to read the input data file from text file, I would like to use some tables in LabVIEW to serve as the input data instead of notepad, for example, on the front panel, and then take that input data table to plot XY graph afterwards. Is that possible?
    Thanks in advance
    Mannie

    There is a palette on the front panel if you right-click. It has controls on it that you can use as inputs and outputs. I've attached a picture.
    Also, you may want to run through Getting Started with LabVIEW. It covers things like this.
    (Edit: Oops, forgot the picture.)

  • Is it possible to do some researches for .txt files or .doc files in labview?

    Hi,
    I want to do some researches to a .txt file or a .doc file so as to find some keywords.then make some operations to the file to save it later.I wonder if it is possible for bits operations and for researches?
    Thanks a lot.

    Absolutely.
    From your block diagram, in the Functions Palette, click on "File I/O". You'll find a number of useful vi's. For instance, you can use the "Read Characters From File" or "Scan From File" vi's to read character strings, which can be manipulated using the string functions (vi's).
    You can also click on "Binary File vi's" if you are dealing with bit-operations.
    You can read a file, parse it, manipulate the data and write it back, all within LabView. It is very useful for that.

  • How to load some text from properties file ?

    Hi again,
    problem is i dont know how can i load a text from properties file like #{xxx['key']} in managed bean, i tried to find some solution but havent seen this kind of use this file in java code. Is it supposed to work only for labels in jspx pages ?
    thanks for help ...

    Hi,
    a managed bean is nothing special from any other Java file. However, if you look at SRDemo, you find a nice way of using the same message bundle that you use on the page
    See the messageFromBundle() method in the JSFUtils class of the UserInterface project
    Frank
    P.s. You can download and setup SRDemo from JDeveloper help--> check for updates

  • Is it possible to sync some collections to my iPhone and others to my iPad?

    I'm in the process of trying out LR Mobile. Is it possible to specify some collections that will sync to my iPhone only (where space is more limited) and others to my iPad?
    Thanks.
    Paula

    Yes, Numbers syncs (very well) via iCloud.  You need to activate Numbers iCloud sync on all of your devices.
    On the Mac, go to System Preferences > iCloud and make sure Documents & Data is checked.  Also click the Options... button next to Documents & Data and check Numbers.app.
    On each iOS device, go to Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data > and turn on Numbers. Also go to Settings > Numbers and turn on Use iCloud.
    After you've got things working, it's best to close down the Numbers document on one device before you use it on another.
