Is it possible to utilize Acrobat PDF Optimizier preset during save?

Hi,
My freind told me that in Illustrator through his script code he could do things like this:
var NamePreset = 'Acr 6 bleed 2 300';
var saveOptions = new PDFSaveOptions();
saveOptions.pDFPreset = NamePreset;
doc.saveAs( saveName, saveOptions );
Is it possible the same with Acrobat SDK in C code? I.e. if I have defined some settings under the name 'Test1' - how could I use that during file save from inside my C code?
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using right now Acrobat SDK 7.0.5 (Acrobat 7.x is used by customer). There is no such method called PDDocOptimize. Was it introduced later, for example for 8.0.x SDKs?
I could find only this for AVDocDoSaveAs:
Allows clients (such as Optimizer) to do their own file saving. You can replace this method with your own version, using HFTReplaceEntry.
What is that HFTReplaceEntry?

  • Why does Acrobat XI PRO freeze during save or save as tasks in Window 8?

Why does Acrobat XI PRO freeze during save or save as tasks in Window 8?  It is intermittent, but CHRONIC, and I am forced to "repair" the installation, or reboot by computer.  This has been a problem since upgrading to Windows 8 and installing the only Acrobat XI update.  Feedback most welcome and appreciated, but an Adobe FIX would be the best solution.

10/4 to all, same problem here with Save or Save As in Acrobat XI Pro using Win 8 Pro, is it Adobe or Win 8 or both causing the problem.
FYI, I just retired and am trying to archive/reduce my printed material and pictures to pdf, this continuing problem is really the pits.................

  • Error message when trying to convert powerpoint presentation to Adobe Acrobat PDF

When trying to create an Adobe Acrobat PDF file from Powerpoint (save as Adobe PDF from the Print menu), Automator gives the following error message: "an error occurred while saving the PDF file". Currently using version 14.4.6 of Microsoft Powerpoint for Mac, 11.0.09 Adobe Acrobat and OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on iMac. Also had the same problem previously with Mavericks and Mountain Lion. The problem seems to be the Apple Automator not working correctly with the Acrobat interface. I create Acrobat PDF docs perfectly well on my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.7.5) and am scared to update to the latest version of OS X in case that also affects the ability to create PDFs.
I have tried using Apple's own PDF creator, and doing this by first creating PS files then converting to PDF, however, many bugs appear in the files, and they are enormous - around 5x the size of Acrobat PDFs, so this is not an option. I have also tried troubleshooting with Adobe to no avail.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Jane

    Hi star2111,
Please tell us a bit more about the error message that you're receiving, and where you're seeing it (in Adobe Reader, or the ExportPDF website?). It will also be helpful to know whether the error occur when just one file, or with any file that you try to convert.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Is it possible to Print a PDF as a PDF in Acrobat 11.0.06 on Mac OSX 10.8.5?

Is it possible to Print a PDF as a PDF in Acrobat 11.0.06 on Mac OSX 10.8.5?
I need this functionality. Adobe PDF doesn't appear in the printer list as it did on my windows laptop. I need to be able to print to the PDF "size" of 8.5 by 11 to shrink files down for e-mail. My workflow usually goes like this:  I import all the pictures or create a PDF from multiple files (pictures), I then put them in order  and then print to PDF, two pictures to a page. I can take a 50MB file down to a 1MB file this way. Makes it easy to view on smartphones and the like.
Is this functionality still broken in Acrobat 11? Did I just waste my money? This was the only reason I bought the latest version - It wouldn't work on 9 Pro either.
    Thanks,
    Jon

Thanks Tony. That is exactly the functionality I am not getting from the current product on Mac.
You can get a much better looking result that takes up way less space and opens faster for the end user by printing a PDF as a PDF and controlling the size of the PDF image. I can take - for instance, 6 or 7  10MP pictures and create a PDF out of them. The PDF will be 25MB or so. I can print that as a PDF which will allow me to put two pictures per page  - and that file will be about 1 MB. No crappy looking images, just much smaller size and multiple images per page.
It's a workflow I have used for years on PC.  Everyone keeps saying just save it as a PDF using the Mac print "save as PDF" functionality but that doesn't accomplish the same thing and you can not control how many pages to print on to each new page of your PDF.
I find it misleading that I saw a web page on Adobe's site that shows you can print as a PDF and it says you can print as a PDF on Mac and that is NOT the case.  Print to PDF Windows 7, Vista, XP, Mac | Adobe Acrobat XI Infuriating.
I have tried to optimize a PDF with 6 or 7 images and it just doesn't do the same thing. It wont reduce the size as much as I need, cuts it in half - but not down to a small fraction for being an e-mail attachment. I'm using XI Pro. Researched this for about 3 hours and it is not functionality that can be used on a Mac.
I even tried printing as a PDF in Parallels on XP with another licensed version of Acrobat Pro and it still wont let you. You would have to probably dual boot your machine to get the functionality by running windows flat out on the Mac with a separate Licensed copy of the software.
It amazes me that Adobe can't figure this out or make amends with Apple to get the functionality back into Acrobat.

  • Is possible in acrobat reader fill in and save interactive PDF created with LiveCycle Designer?

is possible in acrobat reader fill in and save interactive PDF created with LiveCycle Designer?

    Hi,
Only if the form has been Reader Enabled before it is sent out to the user with Reader.
There are two ways of Reader Enabling the form. One using Acrobat Standard v9 or Acrobat Professional v8 (both have license restrictions). The other is to use LC Reader Extensions ES2, which is a server product (additional costs).
    Some info here:
    http://www.assuredynamics.com/index.php/2010/11/using-livecycle-forms-in-acrobat-and-reade r/
A search of the forums for "Reader Extensions" or "Reader Enable" will give more information.
    Hope that helps,

How can I use pdf pack to convert cubase documents  (music scores)  into pdfs? I am looking for the former possibility to install acrobat like a printer but i don't have this option with "pdf pack". Can you help?

    Hi mariab,
What format are those music scores (I'm not familiar with cubase documents). But, it may be that Adobe PDF Pack doesn't support that format. In that case, Acrobat is the way to go. You can then print your files to PDF as you'd like. You're welcome to try Acrobat for free for 30 days to see whether it's going to work for you. If you decide it is, and you'd like to use it going forward, you could convert your PDF Pack subscription into an Acrobat subscription.

  • Can't open Acrobat pdf files in document library - SBS 2011

I've uploaded some Acrobat PDF files to a document library in the companyweb (SharePoint 2010 Foundation website) on SBS 2011. But if I click on one of them in the standard view, acrobat opens and displays a message “The URL you have provided could not be
reached. Please verify that the URL is correct and that the network location is reachable.” I'm using Acrobat Reader XI 11.0.2 and Internet Explorer 10.
I have tried a few suggested solutions, eg to edit the docicon.xml file to include <Mapping Key="pdf" Value="AdobePDF.png" OpenControl="AdobeAcrobat.OpenDocuments"/>, check that the WebClient service is running, and
Use Remote Interfaces permission is set on the SharePoint site. But no luck.
I don't know if this is a problem with SBS 2011, or Acrobat, or Internet Explorer. Interestingly the pdf opens OK in Chrome. It looks like it is trying to edit the document instead of open it in the acrobat reader.
    Anyone know of a solution?

I have found one possible solution. In my case the site was brought into Sharepoint Foundation 2010 as a migrated site from a previous SBS installation.
The site was imported as http://servername and the IIS site had a host header with companyweb so that users could browse to it, and all references to the site were as http://companyweb
All my attempts to open the PDFs were using the http://companyweb URL.
I was researching the issue and had gone through everything, but one thing got me thinking when some sites suggested that I look at the permissive or strict browser file open settings. I looked at the web application and it was set to http://servername in
the Central Administration site. I thought hmm let's try opening the Adobe PDF docs with that URL instead, and it worked!
So I changed the web application URL to http://companyweb and tried again and hey presto it's now working.
I really hope this helps someone, it took me a good couple of hours of my day researching to find the solution here.
Some extra info: we are using Adobe Reader 11.0.6 with IE11. Testing with Firefox worked, but that opens the document by downloading it locally and then using Adobe Reader. fix The above actually resolves the problem, it's nothing to do with permissive or strict
file open settings, I set the SP site back to strict and PDFs still open fine.

  • Why does my exported mp4 file look so bad when it is viewed in adobe acrobat pdf file?

I have embedded an mp4 (exported from premier pro cs6) video file into adobe acrobat and its not sharp viewing of my video anymore. It was a sharp video when viewed in both premier and the exported mp4 files, but once embedded in acrobat it looses sharpness, anyone know what the problem might be? Could my settings  in adobe acrobat be wrong? I would think the problem is in adobe acrobat since the exported mp4 video views crisp and clear before its embedded, any ideas to assure sharpness with my video after its embedded into the adobe acrobat pdf?
Hoping someone has an answer to this, I think my problem might lie within the adobe acrobat settings????
or maybe there is no way around and I need to expect this video not to look as crisp and clear after I embed it into acrobat.... as it is when viewing in premier pro, mp4, etc.????
Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated.
Someone Im sure is taking theri exported premier files and embedding them to create pdf files? Would love to hear if anyone has encountered this issue.
Thanks so much in advance for any help offered.

    Hi Dave,
I just completed a test and comparison between the two PDF's,
compared the file as you suggested with the floating option and changing setting to actual size of the original premier pro / mp4 file size and
the old pdf that did not utilize the floating and file size option.
I do notice a slight difference. The PDF with the floating window with the match of the media clips original dimensions appears to be crisper.
I will be having the final pdf document set utilizing this method for the embeded mp4 movie and hope that the department doing this (next stage of this job) will agree that this is better to use your steps to embed all the video files into a pdf.
Thanks so much for your time.
Hope you had a happy holiday, and hope you have a very happy and healthy new year.
    Thanks, Amy

  • Is it possible to use Acrobat 9 sdk to check accessibility?

Is it possible to use Acrobat 9 sdk to check accessibility of a pdf and get whether the pdf is accessible or not?
I've found InvokeAccessibilityCheckerCmdSnip.cpp that seems to call accessibility validator, but I don't know if that will make what I need.
I've been asked to include an accessibility validation utility in a Content Server after loading a pdf.

  • Is it possible to tag a pdf with 'reject', so when it loads into Bridge, it will be pre-rejected?

Is it possible to tag a pdf with 'reject', so when it loads into Bridge, it will be pre-rejected and not view (so long as 'show reject files' is unchecked in Bridge)? - Please see screen shot.
We're wanting to have all pdf's initially set, so they don't view in Bridge, until the 'reject' tag is then removed.
Any help would be great! Thanks.

Well, not possible directly because the Acrobat interface doesn't allow changing Bridge's ratings and labels.  But as Omke Oudeman showed over in the Bridge Scripting forum, they are stored in the XMP metadata, where "Reject" seems to be an xmp:Rating of -1.  Thus you may be able to add this bit of metadata within Acrobat Pro by using the Append... [XMP template] command -- assuming you can come up with an XMP template, and can find the command buried in the interface (in Acrobat 9 it is behind the Additional Metadata button on the Properties/ Description tab, and then from there under Advanced).  Another route might be via Javascript.  Either way, before investing much time you should consider that most software won't see labels and ratings you add to the XMP metadata, and, as Omke mentions in that thread, their rendering seems somewhat fragile even in Bridge.
Another route might be adapting a metadata category already available in Acrobt's interface: Keywords, say, "Approved" and "NotApproved".  (If you can't touch the Keywords, maybe you could re-purpose another of Acrobat's categories; and of course my suggestions are not related to Acrobat's stock stamps "Approved" and "Not Approved," a different kettle of fish).  Keywords might suffice for you to filter views in Bridge, but if you really want Bridge to show files with "Reject" then they must carry that tag.  If neither an XMP template nor an Acrobat Javascript serves, I imagine a Bridge script could apply "Reject" to files with the keyword NotApproved.  Of course, for any PDFs whose status changes you'd need to adjust both the Reject (xmp:Rating -1) and the keyword; perhaps another script could un-Reject and change the keyword to Approved in one step.

  • Adobe Acrobat PDF erstellen aus Datei = keine Leserechte

    Hallo,

If you are using Acrobat PDF Maker, you have to have at least AAX to work with OFFICE 2010. Be sure to update AA to 10.1.4, the latest version. If you are trying to create the file directly in AAX from a word file or such, then PDF Maker must be working properly in OFFICE or it will not create a PDF. Try opening WORD (or other) and print to the Adobe PDF printer. Does that create the PDF. If you get the permissions error, then it is likely that the settings files are not in a folder accessible to your account. You can copy them over to your account or add permissions to the folder where they are located.
Hopefully that helps. I think I got the gist of the problem after using Google Translate.
