Is local IPC secure?

For example if there is (assume all machines are on the same network and have access to each other) Machine A, Machine B and Machine C. Machine A sends data to Machine C, can Machine B intercept that data.
Question 2(even more local) If programs A, B and C all sit on one machine and A is sending data to C can B intercept that data?
Assume that the B's are evil in these examples.

iCloud: iCloud security and privacy overview - Support - Apple
Data Security
iCloud secures your data by encrypting it when it is sent over the Internet, storing it in an encrypted format when kept on server and using secure tokens for authentication. This means that your data is protected from unauthorized access both while it is being transmitted to your devices and when it is stored in the cloud. iCloud uses a minimum of 128-bit AES encryption—the same level of security employed by major financial institutions—and never provides encryption keys to any third parties.

  • Implementing local user security with ZCM11

    Hi all
    we have been a very traditional NetWare-Company neglecting all local user security (on windows) as we always tried to force the users not to save any data on local drives (but only on our NetWare- or OES-drives). So all of our users work on the local windows Administrator-account without any password.
    With a new IT-Management in place, this has to change. The new management wants to make sure laptops can't be used when stolen.
    So we have the following requirements to implement:
    1) local user account with central policies in place
    2) the local user account has to be single sign on with NDS (only one password to enter for local user account and nds login)
    3) user roaming (user should be able to change physical machine and get the same environment)
    So far, we have used ZCM 11 primarily for software deployment. We are on ZCM 11.2.4.
    I do have an idea how to implement Point 1) and 3), but i am unsure which way to go for the SSO part (Point 2)
    hopefully, someone can point me in the right direction.

    I believe the DLU policy is what you are looking for in Point 2). Then
    the user can login to the workstation with the same credentials as they
    have in NDS.

  • Network.disable.ipc.security is set true. Is that good?

    Whilst removing the AVG Secure Search virus from my wife's laptop, I have discovered, in about:config, a key, network.disable.ipc.security which is set true. This does not strike me as correct, but I do not know ... What does this key do? Can I, should I change it? What will happen to FF?
    Thanks,
    Harvey

    Tried it, didn’t work, how ever I do believe that it’s the 3945ABG card have a problem, since my old IBM R50 doesn’t have any problem with the WRT54G router version 7. But it’s strange that the WRT54G router that is sold with firmware version 5 don’t have the problem!? The last one of the WRT54G router with firmware version 5 that I bought, is even updated to the newest version of firmware that are available for that version, and it still works ok with the 3945ABG card, so Linksys do seems to have a problem too, regarding the 7 version that are sold  in Europe. Do you have any other suggestion to fix the problem?
    To fix the problem her and now, I had to buy a second-hand WRT54G router with firmware version 5, how ever I still got the router with firmware version 7, and still want to find a solution to the problem with this version.
    I and my company won’t buy any new WRT54G router before this problem is fixed! And as long as the problem isn’t fixed we will for sure not recommend it to anyone who asked us for advice regarding routers. Because you have to remember that quite a lot of the new portable pc’s that is sold to day, is sold with the 3945ABG card.

  • Local IPC setup

    Hello All,
    I have installed Local IPC in an attempt to debug the code in NDS.
    And I have followed the steps below:
    1.     Create 2 new RFC destinations
    2.     Set parameter IPC_RFC_DESTINATION with value of dispatcher RFC destination name.
    3.     Changed values in dispatcher.properties to reflect my own dispatcher and server prog ids.
    4.      Able to successfully execute the function module COM_IPC_SESSION_BEGIN.
    But when I run the transaction CRMD_ORDER, I get an error saying ‘No connection could be made to IPC’.
    Is there anything else that I am missing?
    I did apply patches SP09, SP10, SP11 to IPC, but for some reason IPC.properties file does not reflect these.
    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    Mohana

    Hello Deven,
    Thank you for your response - Our CRM system is Unicode and the changes are already taken care of in the RFC Destination. I have also changed the properties.xml file to reflect the same. Any thing else that I should be looking at ? Please help,
    thank you,

  • Flash Local-trusted security

    I am trying to send data via URLLoader in flash 9 to Firebug
    by using javascript:console.log("Hello").
    In flash it is swf to html operation and will not work under
    the default security settings (local-file).
    So I am trying to make my content local-trusted. Here is my
    environment and here is what I have done.
    I am running on a MAC.
    I am viewing my swf locally in Firefox
    I am using the flash player debugger version
    I placed the test.cfg file in /Library/Application
    Support/Macromedia/FlashPlayerTrust directory
    My test.cfg file has one line..../Users/myuname/Sites/mysite
    My html and swf file are located in
    /Users/myuname/Sites/mysite
    My code
    var v = "hello?";
    var out = "javascript:console.log('" + v + "')";
    var l = new flash.net.URLLoader();
    l.load(new flash.net.URLRequest(out));
    I am getting and the exception Error #2044: Unhandled
    securityError:. text=Error #2048: Security sandbox violation:
    http://localhost/test.swf
    cannot load data from javascript:console.log('hello?')
    How can I get this to work? Has anyone else run into this
    problem?
    Thanks

    Thank you for the reply.
    I tried the allowDomain call but it does not work. According
    to the Flash Security documentation, my swf file should already be
    set to the "local-trusted" sandbox because it should of found the
    test.cfg file. So that tells me it is having trouble finding the
    file or it cannot read the file.
    I placed the file in the "All Users" location
    /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/FlashPlayerTrust
    I have one line written in the file that specifies the
    directory location of my html and swf file.
    Anybody have any other thoughts?

  • Local SWFs security messages

    Hi,
    I want to run captivate 5 published SWFs from CD ROM but I get the adobe flash player security warning about ".. a potentially unsafe operation.", when i run the SWF files on their own locally.
    I am guessing that the SWF files are making Javascript calls which is causing the security warnings, as when run locally from the HTML i don't get the same issue. Server2go is not really an option for me. I have unsuccessfully tried chaning the publish settings in captivate as my projects are doing no reporting/tracking and should have no need to speak to Javascript or communicate with the internet.
    Any guidance gratefully recieved.
    I don't understand why the published SWF should be causing the security alert when it does not need to be making any calls.
    Thanks

    The checkbox you can deselect in the Publish dialog to NOT output HTML is there because there are some situations where you might be creating content for a Content Management System (not an LMS) that will only accept single files.  Typically these systems are designed for storing and serving up files like PDF, or DOC, or PPT, or SWF.  They usually want to rename your file with a unique ID when they store it internally, and so they don't cater to collections of web files that need to maintain relative links in order to work (e.g. the HTM/SWF/and JS files in Captivate output).
    If you are publishing content for an LMS, either AICC or SCORM, you will be using HTM/SWF/JS.  The communication with the LMS in the case of SCORM happens via the JS API, not to mention a large number of other support files.  So trying to run the SWF by itself with a SCORM-compliant LMS will get you nowhere.
    I'm interested in your idea that the Captivate SWF might be trying to do something that is triggering the security warnings.  Do you by any chance have Self-paced Learning turned on in TOC settings?  If so, this will cause the SWF to write a Shared Object to the user's local cache.  Perhaps that is what is triggering the warning.  Try starting up a blank project with absolutely no content, and Self-paced Learning turned off.  Does it also trigger this warning for you?
    Can you show us the settings you currently have in your Flash Player Settings Manager in Control Panel for Storage?
    What settings does it show on your Advanced Tab under Trusted Locations

  • Loading local content security problem

    var playlistlink:URLRequest = new URLRequest("playlist.xml");
    var playlistloader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    try {
    playlistloader.load(playlistlink);
    }catch (e:Error){
    addError("error:loading xml");
    both swf and playlist.xml put into same domain. When I run
    the flash there's no problem.
    However, it seems not working when I embed the swf into a
    html which in another domain, then there's a security problem. When
    I embed swf into some blog post it even seems not running!
    Anyone have any thought on that?

    You'll need to have a crossdomain.xml file in domain you are
    loading the playlist.xml file from.
    A corssdomain.xml file might look like this. Note: This file
    allows all other domains, which is probably not what you should
    have in production.
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <cross-domain-policy>
    <allow-access-from domain="*" />
    </cross-domain-policy>

  • 2008 r2 RDP SSL NLA problem "Local Security Authority cannot be contacted"

    Hi!
    I have run into an issue with RDP settings for 2008 R2 servers (all of them) whenever I enable NLA. That happens on user accounts that do NOT enforce password expiration (and so passwords are not expired) and MSTSC supporting NLA (client computers are win7
    or win8).
    In fact those same clients can use NLA just fine for connections to other win7/win8 workstations (domain members) using NLA, no probs!
    SSL certificates are automatically issued by enterprise CA. All computers/servers have current and valid Computer certificates.
    For some strange reason, I cannot enable NLA on RDP settings for any of 2008 R2 servers (various roles, ranging from physical DC running multiple roles, through dedicated virtual DC or dedicated virtual Print Servers up to dedicated Remote Desktop Services
    host), because all of them at once stop accepting RDP connections, always with same error message:
    An authentication error has occurred.
    The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted
    Remote computer: server.domain.local
    This could be due to an expired password.
    Please update your password if it has expired.
    For assistance, contact your administrator or technical support.
    That same message also appears on DC (2008 R2) running the enterprise CA role ... irony ...
    Please keep in mind that domain member computers running windows 7 x64 or windows 8.1 x64 can accept NLA enabled and SSL encrypted RDP traffic at same time without issues while using the same user accounts to connect.
    To make it even funnier, I can set RDP on 2008 R2 acting as Remote Desktop Services server to accept only SSL RDP traffic and keep NLA disabled and all works just fine. So, it is strictly the NLA causing trouble here, but why? WS 2008 R2 unable to use Kerberos
    authentication for RDP?
    WS 2012 R2 can accept NLA/SSL RDP connections without trouble, just as win7/win8 workstations can, so issue is narrowed down to only 2008 R2 servers (physical or virtual).
    Is there a hotfix for this problem on 2008 R2? sounds to me like it is a bug in 2008 r2 regarding Kerberos authentication for RDP... is MS ever planning to fix it or we have to upgrade all servers to 2012R2 to "fix it" ...

    In case this is of use to anyone, I traced this issue down to some group policy settings restricting the use of NTLM. If you're connecting to a server from a Windows client within the same domain, this won't be an issue, as Kerberos is used for authentication.
    However, when connecting from a machine outside the domain, or from a non Windows client (e.g. Wyse ThinOS terminal as we were), it seems NTLM is used for authentication.
    Since we have quite a secure environment setup, the following group policy had been set throughout the domain:
    Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options
    Network security: Restrict NTLM: Incoming NTLM traffic - Deny all domain accounts
    Network security: Restrict NTLM: NTLM authentication in this domain
    - Deny for domain accounts to domain servers
    What was needed was to apply a new policy to the RDS servers being connected to from outside the domain with the following settings and so that the new GPO took precedence over the standard GPO applying the above:
    Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options
    Network security: Restrict NTLM: Incoming NTLM traffic - Allow all
    Network security: Restrict NTLM: NTLM authentication in this domain - Disable
    In addition, the domain controller policy had to be updated with these settings:
    Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options
    Network security: Restrict NTLM: Add remote server exceptions for NTLM authentication -
    Enabled with either all RDS servers listed, or use a wildcard name which will capture all RDS servers
    Network security: Restrict NTLM: Add server exceptions in this domain - Enabled with either all RDS servers listed, or use a wildcard name which will capture all RDS servers
    Took me a while to figure this one, so hopefully it will help someone somewhere :)

  • Publishing settings and local security alerts

    For Flash 8 and player 8 - how can I set a .swf file (that is

  • IPC Debugging...

    Hi All,
    I have implemented a new Base Condition Formula in IPC in Netweaver Developer Studio, and beautiful thing happened is it's NOT working. I heard that debugging the code is possible in NDS when the pricing request is triggered from CRM. For this I started the 'Debug Configurations' from menu...
    Run->Debug ---> Remote Java Applications with following connection properties Host:localhost port:8000. And it dissappointed me saying
    "Failed to connect to remote VM. Connection refused"
    Since I've never worked on IPC and NDS, "?" popped up in my mind.
    Can anyone help me ?
    Regards,
    Phani.

    Hi Phani
    I have got this working by:
    - Using a local IPC
    - Changing the IPC server.bat file, adding the following to the line that executes JavaServer
    -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Djava.compiler=NONE -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8000,server=y,suspend=n
    So the line in server.bat looks like:
    @"%JAVA_HOME%binjava" -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Djava.compiler=NONE -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8000,server=y,suspend=n -Xms64m -Xmx512m -cp "%CLASSPATH%" com.sap.sxe.socket.server.JavaServer
    (Thanks Google)
    - Adding my breakpoint to the PricingUserExits class before compiling it and placing it on the IPC.
    - Restarted IPC (using my new server.bat file rather than as a Windows service as I normally do)
    - Attach the debugger as you described
    Then it worked beautifully - I created a transaction in CRM, it hung, I went to Eclipse and it was stopped on my breakpoint.
    Cheers
    Dom
    Cheers

  • Windows 8 Sysprep - Can't skip local account creation and autologon fails, wrong admin password.

    Using Windows 8 x64 Enterprise, Sysprep pauses to ask me to create a local user, which I don't want.
    If I enable SkipSystemOOBE and SkipUserOOBE in OOBE under Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup sysprep (in oobe mode) will skip user creation and autologon works.  But it only works correctly once.  If I run sysprep again, when it tries to autologon
    it will say that I have the wrong password for the local account.  After I type in the password manually it works.  If I use the same password for the local administrator account as for the autologon account, it looks to have the encrypted password
    twice with an equal sign after it.
    What I need to know:
    How to skip local user account creation (we run on a domain but I have it connect through scripts later)
    How to fix the autologon issue
    Do I need the local administrator account enabled for this to work?

    The user accounts-creation page in Windows Welcome is suppressed if a user or a group is added to a local security group. Add a user or a group to a local security group by doing one of the following:
    Create a local user.
    Add a domain user to a local security group with the Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup | UserAccounts unattended installation setting.
    To suppress the user accounts-creation page in Windows Welcome, without creating a local user, use one of the following workarounds:
    Workaround 1
    If the computer is already joined to a domain, use the following XML example to add the Domain Users security group to the Local Users security group.
    <DomainAccounts>
     <DomainAccountList wcm:action="add">
      <DomainAccount wcm:action="add">
      <Group>Users</Group>
      <Name>Domain Users</Name>
      </DomainAccount>
      <Domain>FabrikamDomain</Domain>
      </DomainAccountList>
    </DomainAccounts>
    Because joining a domain automatically adds the Domain Users security group to the Local Users security group, the DomainAccounts command does not affect the membership of the Local Users group. However, using this XML example to join a domain will also suppress
    the user accounts-creation page in Windows Welcome.
    Workaround 2
    Use the Sysprep/Quit command to set the following registry value to 1:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\OOBE\UnattendCreatedUser

  • Movie with flv only runs locally

    Greetings-
    I built a Flash movie using the FLVPlayback component and
    attached a .flv movie in its source. As far as I know the movie
    file is not embedded in the timeline, it is attached as a separate
    file for reference to the .swf.
    I published the movie and can play the resulting movie, as
    expected, locally. However, when I FTP the files up to my server
    the Flash player object appears to load (on IE I get the "Click
    here to activate this control" message) but nothing happens. I mean
    nothing. No movie, no error messages, no "please wait, loading..."
    nothing. I checked the local file security on the server in
    question and everything appears in order, even the MIME types are
    set correctly (as a test I put another .swf file in the same
    directory on the server, called it directly and it loaded fine; my
    movie in question simply does not play). This makes me wonder what
    I'm doing wrong in the publishing part of my Flash process. Why
    would it play OK locally but not on my server? And why would
    another .swf file play from the same directory and not my movie
    file? Again, I can not find any errors to speak of, I viewed the
    source, tried hardcoding the paths to the movie and the swf for
    testing and still nothing. Did I miss a chapter in publishing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rich

    OK, this is getting crazy.... so I started over, again. I
    imported the video into my Flash movie, Published it and it ran as
    expected locally. Since my website is using ModelGlue framework for
    ColdFusion, I decided to try and eliminate as much doubt as
    possible so I put my files (html, swf (Flash movie and skin) and
    F4V) onto the root of my site:
    http://www.cfsnap.com/cervicalTractionDevices.html
    (notice I'm not even using a .CFM page, straight up html)
    Now the movie seems to appear but the status bar has been
    running for about 10 mins, as if it can't find the actual F4V movie
    file.
    So I tried to access the swf file directly and get the same
    result, the flash movie appears but the movie (F4V) does not.
    So as to rule out my own insanity I uploaded and tried:
    http://www.cfsnap.com/chart-and-graph.swf
    which works. Except that chart-and-graph.swf was built in
    CS3, my movie files were built in CS4.
    For grins I'm upgrading my Flash player right now. The
    installer is forcing me to close my browser so I'll post again as
    to the success or failure of this action.
    Thanks,
    Rich
