Is "mail merge" supported by Pages 5.5.2?

I want to enter text in a Numbers spreadsheet and then "merge" it into a Pages text doc to create a customized form letter. I used to do this in MS Office using the "mail merge" function.  Does Pages 5.5.2 support this?

Pages v5 (any version) does not provide built-in mail merge functionality. Apple's answer to this is that they provided AppleScript hooks that one can use to program their own mail merge functionality. That is a bit of a stretch for most Pages users. However, a downloadable mail merge solution for Pages v5 has been done for you via this recent post.

    If you have the previous version of Number and Pages you can still use those applications to perform a mail merge.  Neither the previous version nor the latest version support mass emailing.  There are other applications that can do that.

    I am trying to mailmerge to a form and need to center certain sections on the same line.  Impossible to accomplish in the word processing portion because it wants to center the entire line.  I would like to use the page layout section but the "enter merge field" is gray.
    I have been able to accomplish the task using Filemaker but some of my constituents do not have Filemaker and I would like to make a template for them to use with numbers, excel,etc.

    Can't see what Layout mode could possibly offer that you don't have in Word Processing mode.
    Tried using centre tabs? You are using tabs, and not just hammering away at the spacebar?

    The old version of Pages allowed a simple mail mail merge with Contacts.  The "What's New in Pages" document says you can still mail merge from Contacts, but I'll be hanged if I can figure out how.  Will someone please tell me how to mail merge from Contacts to Pages?  Otherwise, I've got to learn a new word processor.

    There is no built-in mail merge feature with Pages v5. Apple only supports mail merge if you are willing to either create your own AppleScript application or use pre-written AppleScript solutions. Examples are here and here. Pages community discussions about these are here by the developer.
    If you are unwilling to do engage in AppleScript, then fall back and use Pages '09 v4.3.

  • Mail merge in Pages using Address Book - problem with fields

    I am a fan of using the many of the Mac OS, iLife and other Apple applications together and just purchased iWork '09. I'd never done mail merges in previous versions of Pages, but I decided to try today with my Address Book data. I stumbled across some problems related to Address Book that have bothered me for some time and wonder if there is a simple go-around. Many of the cards in my Address Book have more than one line in the street address field. For example, they have street and street number in one line and the apartment number in the second. When Pages encounters such vCards in my Address Book, it doesn't know what to do and skips the next line of the address, which includes city, state and zipcode. I have also altered my Address Book template to include such things as the person's college (as I work with lots of college students), but this field is not recognized in Pages' mail merge feature. So, if I put the college name at the beginning of the street field in Address Book (which is what I have done until today), I can get excellent mail labels to print from Address Book, but I now I realize that this causes the mail merge problems in Pages described above. If I list the college elsewhere in the vCard, such as under the guise of "department" (an accepted field for mail merge in Pages), I lose the ability to get accurate mail labels in Address Book. Any ideas?

  • Why doesn't mail merge in Pages reflect changes made to the numbers source document?

    When using mail merge in a Pages envelope document, changes made to its Numbers address source document are not reflected.  I have to create a whole new Pages envelope document and choose the Numbers address source document merge fields all over again.
    I never had any trouble doing this with Word and Exell!  
    What am I doing wrong?

    Mail Merge from Numbers works just as you are trying to use it.
    You create a Numbers document with the proper layout for merging.
    Enter the data in teh numbers document and Save it.
    You create a Pages Document to merge into and create the links to the Numbers document.
    You Edit > Mail Merge in Pages.
    To merge again from the Numbers document, make the necessary edits, Save the Numbers document and do the mail merge again in the Pages document that you created for that purpose. The only problem that normally arises is that we forget to Save the Numbers document after editing.

    The User Guide is clear: we may merge from ONE Numbers table.
    Reorganize your datas so that they are available to the merge process from the first table of the first sheet of the used document.
    External references are your friends to do that.

  • Apple updated Pages again but they seem to forget Mail Merge option which is significantly a life saver.  Do they have any intentions to put this back again?

    I don't understand why Apple discarded Mail Merger option in Pages.  This is a lifesaver option which definitely saves the user's time in completing documents easily instead of doing it repeatedly.

    Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to create a mail merge using an address spreadsheet created in Numbers and then trying to merge it into Pages.
    I'ne taken all the necessary steps, selecting the source, selecting the merge fields etc etc and when I get to the final step the Mail Merge option in Pages in greyed out. I am thinking the Pages is prompting me to take another step but I'm not sure what that next step is. I've watched the video on the Apple support site and followed every step carefully.
    If anyone here can help I would very much appreciate it.

    You need to designate a row as a header row in the Numbers table. Imported spreadsheets don't mark the first row as a header row. If the top row does contain the labels, hover the cursor over the row number, click the down-facing arrow that appears & choose convert to header row.
    If you don't have a row with labels to convert, add a header row using the Table menu or click the icon (middle icon) in the format bar then type in the labels.

    Mail merge is for sending Pages, Word, Pdf etc document attached in a mail. It doesn't put the content of the document in the mail text layer. For that you have to go to Mail and open one new mail document and add what you want to send and then in the To field you add all the addresses you want to send to. If Mail can do it in a niftier way you have to ask in the forum for MacOs x ...> Mail

    I have about 140 email addresses in an address book, and I have sent emails using mail merge many times. Suddenly, this week, when I send out an email, I get all of them back marked undeliverable. Don't know why it suddenly won't send them. the only thing that looks odd is that in the "undeliverable" message, each email is given twice - example: [email protected]@gmail.com.

    the mail merge add-on probably needs to be updated for the new version of Thunderbird as there have been behind the scenes changes in mail composition. I would suggest following the mail merge support process and emailing the author.

    I wish to use an Avery template to define the layout of a page and than populate the cells with data merged in from Numbers.
    I can get the Avery template to work fine
    I can get the first cell to populate with the first row of my Numbers Document/Table.
    But the Mail Merge feature of Pages wants to make each row of the Numbers Table a different page instead of the next cell of the template.
    How do I tell Pages to increment the row it is merging from from cell to cell instead of from page to page?

    That's the only way Pages will operate in a Merge, one record of the Numbers table per Section of the Pages document. It's pretty easy to use Find/Replace to delete all the Section Breaks and collapse the Pages document to one Section.
    I don't know which Avery template you are using, so you're on your own on matching the layouts. Here's the basic plan:
    Set the Pages document to have as many columns in the text layer as there are columns of labels.
    Insert a Text Box and set the borders to None. Make sure the Text Box is Inline.
    Put your merge field in the Text Box.
    Set up the Merge link to the Numbers doc.
    Size the Text Box to match the label size.
    Edit > Mail Merge
    Find/Replace Advanced. Find Section Break, Replace with nothing.
    Replace All.
    Now you may have to adjust margins and text box size to get it perfect.

    That keyboard shortcut is for Pages '09.

  • Mail Merge and Clickable E-Mail Addresses

    I am setting up a mail merge document in Pages using merge fields from a Numbers document. All is working fine except for one thing. I would like the resulting document to have the e-mail addresses come out live so I could click on them and create an e-mail addressed to the people named on each page, with an appropriate subject line.
    I have "Automatically detect e-mail and web addresses" selected, but they don't come out live. Even if I save to a PDF they aren't live. Using the Inspector if I go to Hyperlinks and choose Enable as Hyperlink, and Link to Email Message, it will do that, but it seems to want to create an e-mail addressed to me; I can't get it to address it to the person whose e-mail address it is. If I delete my name, it creates a link that simply opens a blank e-mail.
    At this point I'm stuck! It seems like that should be the default behavior, but nothing I do gets it to happen! Any help will be much appreciated.

    This simple script activates the merged links for you.
