Is my "creative suite" too old to upgrade?

I bought the CS4 standard design suite upgrade for an educational version I bought 6-7 years ago. I told the online support guy I talked to that I didn't know what my version was called, but that I bought it as a suite and that InDesign was version 2. I have the suite in front of me now. It includes Photoshop 7.0, Illustrator 10, InDesign 2.0, and Acrobat 5.0. There is nothing on the box to indicate what the suite was called....just a black box with an Adobe logo.
Long story short I have "installed" the upgrade, entered the upgrade's serial number, and then run in to problems when it asks for my previous version's serial number. (1) Each disk has a separate number and (2) I don't know what the suite version is called. I called tech support and that guy said that I could pick anyone of them (of the CS names and of the serial numbers)and it wouldn't matter. No go. Also, I'm installing this on Vista 64...
I have not installed the previous version (my existing educational version) as the Vista 64 comp is brand new.
Any ideas? Do I have a non-upgradeable version? Have I wasted $600?
Thanks for any help

At the very least you should be able to return the version you bought, though that won't help much with the cost for the full suite.

Aussimick you will want to enter in the qualifying serial number from the full version of Adobe software you purchased.  You can find the serial numbers located under your account by following the steps listed in Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

Or what is involved if I pay for an upgrade?

Deactivate the software and then reinstall it after the OSX update.

  • Creative Suite 2 Student Edition upgrade

I cannot install my CS2 Premium student edition onto my Mac, which uses OS X 10.8.2. Am I able to upgrade to a version of the creative suite even though it is a student edition?

No Creative Suite 2 does not upgrade for any upgrade pricing.  You will want to look at either purchasing a full version of Creative Suite 6 or subscribing to the Creative Cloud.  You can find more details regarding the Creative Cloud at http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html?promoid=JQPEQ.

If it were too old, the App Store wouldn't download it.
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

  • Creative Suite 2 - want to upgrade

I currently have Creative Suite 2 and will be getting a MacBook Pro (with Leopard) and know that CS2 won't work on it. I would like to upgrade to CS3, but didn't know if I would be able to go to CS4 straight from CS2.
    Thanks!

If you buy CS3 now you'll get a free upgrade to CS4 when it ships.

    Thanks,
The failure is not because of display requirement but because of the below string in log which is strange.
Install MSI payload failed with error: 1620 - This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.
    1) Do you have any internet security software or Anti-virus software installed ? if yes, could you please turn it off and then check.
      2) Are you installing from DVD or download link ?

  • Creative Suite 1 - how to upgrade it?

    Hi,
I own a Creative Suite 1.1 license for Mac.
I was trying to upgrade it but it looks like it's not valid for any upgrade anymore...
    Why is that?
    Any hints or suggestions?
    Thanks much

Creative Suite 1.x is not upgradeable. A few years ago, Adobe decided not to extend upgrading to all previous versions, but limited to the previous two or three versions.
Very simple: You buy a new version of Adobe Creative Suite or you don't. (BTW, you may be tempted to buy a "used" copy on eBay or some such. Be very wary of "cheapo" copies offered of Adobe products. They are usually unlicensed beta copies, or something equally useless.)

  • Adobe creative suite CS can i upgrade to CS3

I have adobe creative suite CS full version and also have a CS3 upgrade can i upgrade from the installed CS to CS3?

If your only intention of installing CS is to upgrade to CS3, then you can try skipping the CS installation and just go for the CS3.  You should only be required to provide the serial number for CS during the CS3 activation process, as proof of the upgrade applicability.
Depending on how new the machine is, you might find it a challenge to get CS installed and working.  CS3 less so, but you might still run into some issues.

  • Downloading Creative Suite CS4 from dvd - upgrade check?

    Hi there,
I am downloading Creative Suite CS4 from a purchased dvd. It allows me to enter the serial number but then takes me to the net screen that wants to do an upgrade check! I have no other related Adobe software! It asks me to select  product I already own, which I don't. It defaults to CS3 and then of course wants the serial number which I don't have as I don't have a previous version! If I go back to previous screen I can load a trial version and then enter the serial number after 30 days, I don't want to do that.
    Any help appreciated
    Cheers
    V

The only Windows CS4 software I can find with InDesign is this copy of Master Collection at Amazon: http://amzn.to/czqbie
That may or may not make you eligible for a free upgrade to CS5. I don't know when the offer expires but you can read about it here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/153/tn_15304.html?PID=2159997#I%20meet%20the%20requirements.%20Ho w%20do%20I%20place%20my%20order.

  • Moving Adobe Creative suite from old computer to new?

I have a 2004 IMAC and just bought a 2011 Refurbished IMAC. Can I just copy my Adobe Creative Suite applications from my old computer to the applications folder of my new one?

Two things you need to check:
Is your old Adobe software compatible with whatever OS version you are running now (what is your OS version: 10.6.x, 10.7x, or 10.8.x??)
And, actually even more importantly: check their license agreement/requirements - are you allowed to move it > would you need a new registration key , etc.
If the answer to both questions is affirmative, then simply install it from your original install disks.

  • My Windows XP is dead. How to I install upgrade to Creative Suite without old one running?

I have CS3 for Windows XP.  My XP machine is now dead.  Can I buy CS4 upgrade version for Windows 7 and install it without CS3 running?

Yes. You just install the CS4 upgrade, enter your CS4 upgrade serial number then enter your CS3 serial number when prompted.
However, where are you planning to buy the CS4 upgrade version from? It is long superseded and Adobe has not sold it for years.
If you're intending to buy the CS4 upgrade online from eBay or similar, there's a strong chance that it will be a pirated copy and that the CS4 serial number will not work.
