Is premier pro used for stop motion if so how ?

hi
There
guys
as part of a project i have been tasked with producing a stop motion
in Regards to editing such a project is it possible to edit within primer pro
and slow the frame rate down ???

If you already have a video you want to work from, you can also make a stop-motion from that without too much trouble.
1. Put your video into a sequence
2. Place a marker at each frame you want in the stop-motion
3. In the program monitor export a frame at each marker, be sure to check the import into project box
4. Select all the exported frames, right-click and set the duration you want for each
5. Create stop-motion sequence from the selected frames

  • Best webcam for stop motion in Premiere Elements 7

    The Gear Head usb webcam my son has been using for stop motion does not seem to work with Premiere Elements 7.
    Adobe used to have a list of compatible cameras, but the link is dead.
    Anyone have any suggestions for a usb webcam you know works with PRE 7?
    Also noticed that it "requires" a usb 2.0 connection with 1.0 drivers. Anything issues to look out for there?
    Thanks

    Here's another ask of you Paul.
    I've also seen a tutorial on a guy adding a glow to a wedding shot that he had.  It was a shot of some of the grooms party in a church I think and also a shot of the grooms party outside the church.  The tutorial showed how to bring up the whites on certain areas of the images to glow out the whites and have them shine through ... if you know what I mean.
    I forgot to bookmark the tutorial so just wondered if you knew (again) where it may have been from.  A big ask I know but I thought I'd try just in case.

  • Can I use canon eos40d for stop motion capture in premiere elements 9?

    I Want too do stop motion capture but when I click get media, the pop up dialog box proceeda as if to import still photos. How do I get the "capture panel" that is talked about where I can select stop motion?  Is premiere elements 9 supposed to work with a still camera like mine for stop motion at all?   Thanks!!'  Kimberley

    Thanks for the reply. This is my take on the situation that you describe.
    You wrote
    The camera was linked to PC with USB cable and then the software showed on the PC what would normally be in the camera viewfinder.  The enter key on the PC worked as a shutter release and onion skinning worked.  Can premiere elements do this?
    That more or less describes the Premiere Elements Webcam experience if Premiere Elements recognized the Webcam.
    If you have made a USB connection between the Canon 40D and the computer and you are not getting a Capture Window when you use Premiere Elements' Add Media Webcam or WDM compatible device, then Premiere Elements does not support that simple route. It is my understanding that WDM compatible device represents Windows Driver Model (a framework for device drivers).
    I have done some Google searching, and I have found instance where claims have been made for the Canon 40D as a webcam. I post one of these links for informational and non promotional purposes.

    Have you explore any utilities that came with the Canon that might supply drivers for the Canon as a webcam?
    Have you tried to use the Canon 40D as a webcam with Windows Movie Maker?
    Please review and consider. (Also, 9.0.1 Update can be downloaded and installed from the project's Help Menu/Update or obtained online from

    We will be watching for further developments.

  • Premier Pro Right For Me?

    As a former Final Cut Pro 7 multicam user I am now faced with a dilemma; I have changed and AVC HD format which FCP7 very well apple. Moreover, I am not interested in switching over to FCP X since I do not want to upgrade to Mavericks OS X where in I have heard about 50% of professionals not pleased with the performance very. The house, I must consider another avenue of professional video.
    My film in AVC HD from Canon pro cameras chemicals are looked at at the media composer, grass Valley Eddie's Pro seven, and now Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. I currently own adobe Ps CS5 and lLr 5 in the room am guessing that premiere Pro is my best. I use a Mac book Pro Retina 2.7 GHz, 16 Gb 1600 ram, with solid-state hard drive an external thunderbolt SATA drive in a thunderbolt/SATA dock with most of my editing being read or more cameras in multicam.
    Thus, is Premier Pro right for me? And, does anyone know if there is a cross grade discount?
    Please feel free to ask any questions and look forward to many responses especially those who might already have made the same changeover.

    As a "cloud" user, well ... you mileage may vary ... but for the single monthly fee one does get rather a lot ... for that, one gets, if one wants:
    Premiere Pro NLE, always newest updates;
    Speedgrade; color grading program, doesn't need to "export" anything out from P-Pro to work on a project, just using a menu item in P-Pro to go directly to grading in Sg;
    AfterEffects, for fx, titling, color corrections/distortions, whatever; again, send directly from P-Pro without export/render needed;
    Adobe Media Encoder for choosing output formats/codecs/specifics;
    Photoshop for its ability to work on specific frames, stills, and now video footage internally;
    Prelude, to do your project uploads and prep-work in;
    ... heck, Illustrator if you want ... whatever.
    I'm currently running what WOULD have cost me a couple thousand a year (figuring most taking say an 18 month "update" cycle) in Adobe software for $588/year. I'm not complaining ... I have spent near that most years of the last decade with Adobe for simply Lightroom and Photoshop. I simply could not have justified the number of Adobe suite products I use daily now prior to the Cloud. So, I'm not upset with them ... rather, for me, it's been a huge benefit.
    There are problems with Adobe software too, as with FCP ... as I've read the FCP forums with people cussing out the newest iteration there. Yep, that happens. Adobe is working very hard at integrating prep, project uploading/management, NLE, fx, grading, and out-put into a process without "borders" ... where each application works on common files and projects without needing any export/import and cross-conversions/transcoding/you-name-it.
    This isn't handled perfectly yet ... I've been one of the ones with a totally crashed project just last week. But mostly ... it makes it a HECK of a lot easier for me to work without having to work out the details of which codec to trans-code into to get the NLE to do it's best work, then ... how to get that proxied or whatever into an fx program ... then how to get that BACK into the NLE for final editing ... then exported out to a grading program for tonality/color ... you get the picture.
    I've given Adobe some hades, but then ... got right back to working. And all in all, it is working for me, as a dang newbie, and looking good. But then, I'm only working .mov files. Coupled with stills and other things, but ... all working mostly smoothly. Through several programs.
    Now ... there are some people here on the Adobe forums who ONLY use say CS6, do everything including tonality/color/titling in there, and don't want anything else, no audio programs, no specialized grading of fx programs, and for them ... the "Cloud" wouldn't be sensible. Why spend the money for something that does everything you're going to do? I understand that. It's not what will work for me, but who cares? It works fine for them.
    So ... will you be wanting/needing to use a color grading program, perhaps an audio editor? fx? If "yes", looking at the whole CC 'Suite' of products might be wise. If not ... just get P-Pro CS6 would probably work fine.

  • Hello, I am editing my final project at university on Premier Pro CC on mac, but when I try to load my project in Premier Pro CC for windows on my home pc I get  "codec missing or unavailable".

    Hello, I am editing my final project at university on Premier Pro CC on mac, but when I try to load my project in Premier Pro CC for windows on my home pc i get  "codec missing or unavailable". Something to do with Apples' ProRes 422 LT codec. Is there a way round this problem?

    I just went to the Miraizon site, who has been the sole licensee of ProRes for PC, to see if their $150/license download was still at that price.
    This is what I found ...
    They only sell a few of their other products, and the ProRes/DNxHD codec package only generates an email form to "support".
    I'm afraid you'll have to transcode those files to something like DNxHD or an avi codec or something to work them via PC. And I'd thought about purchasing that codec pack from them but kept putting it off. Now, I wish I'd bought it. Ah well.

    The only limit is that of the device. No restrictions on how much of it you can use for music. Is part of your music library unchecked?

  • What Systems are the Pros Using for Premier, After Effects, and SpeedGrade?

    I bought the full Creative Cloud in hopes of making a career for myself in audio/visual editing. The problem is, my system doesn't seem to be able to handle the software, particularly when changing back and forth between the three programs mentioned above. Beyond that, my first project failed to export properly. Moreover, all throughout its development the system lagged badly. And this is after having followed all the preferences recommendations available in the Adobe's tutorials and elsewhere on the Web.
    Here's my system:
    SYX-P67A-C43: Intel Core i7 2600 (an 8-core unit) at 3.4GHz, with 8 Gigs of RAM (soon to be 16) with a GTX 550 NVidia Card, 1Gig of RAM.
    As you can see, this is far in excess of what Adobe claims to be the minimum system requirements. It's obviously NOT.
    What systems are the Pros using (like the guys in the tutorials) for Premier, After Effects, and SpeedGrade? Give me the exact machines with all the specs so I can price one up.

    ...although a little " old" now.....the fundamentals of your machine are still OK to get started IF you : 1. INCREASE your system memory to the full 32 GB....should make a BIG difference in performance.....8 GB is NOT enough, it will HINDER performance. 2. OVERCLOCK your CPU !!!.....many owners of your CPU have been safely running at 4.5 Ghz or HIGHER...some at 4.8 Ghz !!! This OC will make a DRAMATIC improvement  as  CPU speed is a huge factor in performance. 3. Improve your video card to a new NVidia 970 with 4 GB of video memory. 4. Check and MAKE SURE the power supply in your machine is ADEQUATE to handle everything, esp. if you overclock the CPU....generally 850 to 1,000 watts of a quality make is good. 5. Use a fast storage system...that means a SATA III SSD as your "C" drive, ( boot drive), being a Crucial M550 series,( or, M600 series), OR, a Samsung 850 Pro series SSD, ( more expensive). Other SSDs are NOT recommended, only these two makes are recommended for technical reasons. On this "C" drive, you should have Operating system, Programs, and Windows page file ONLY !! Your "D" drive can be ANOTHER single SSD to be used as a "cache drive" for all the previews, media cache, and cache files that Premier Pro creates PLUS, it can ALSO serve as the "Global Performance cache" used in After Effects. All your media and project files can go on your "E" drive. HERE you would have LIMITED OPTIONS because your motherboard only has TWO SATA III ports, ( which would already be used b the "C" and "D" SSDs). You NOW have only 4 SATA II ports left ......you COULD RAID 0 four 1 TB HDDs off these ports and have a 4TB backup drive connected to one of your TWO USB 3 external ports.....any DVD or Blue-ray can ALSO go on an external port.
    However, if you are into spending REAL MONEY !!!.....Go Haswell E and X99 all the way !!...THAT will give you great performance !!

    I just upped my VM ot 12gb (I have 8gb mem.
    When I create a new project I give it a name, it then does regular saves automatically. With a stop motion project I noticed that does not seem to happen and if I do save as, it automatically erases the previous file or at least 0's out the file to 0kb.
    how can I rescue this file. its a 4 minutes of non repeatable stop motion.......ugh
    In the future what is the max number of pics per second I should be taking? I had it set to .25 of a second -4 per second

  • Low quality export for stop motion animation stills from Canon 5D Mark ii

    Thank you very much beforehand to anyone who is willing to look through this issue, it's been a long and frustrating process so far...
    I am attempting to put together a stop motion animation in Final Cut Express but my exports are always either low quality, or medium quality and stretched. I am shooting on a Canon 5D Mark ii set to take pictures at 21M 5616x3744 [999] (though I'm not entirely sure what the 21M or 999 mean).
    When I first assembled my stills (unedited or altered in any way) and exported, it looked like this:
    A relatively drastic loss in colour and quality. This was achieved exporting through quicktime conversion using the following settings:
    Compression Type: H.264
    Compressor Quality: Best
    Size: 1920x1080 HD
    Preserve aspect ratio using: Crop
    Deinterlace source video: unchecked
    Unhappy with the result, I went through hours of testing and researching which only yielded a result after I discovered the control-Q Easy Setup menu. I tried setting up as an apple intermediate codec using HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60 at 29.97 fps. I kept the export settings the same as above, but knowing that I was now working with a canvas that keeps to the 16:9 proportions, I tried cropping one of my stills in photoshop to fit that 16:9 ratio.
    I then imported my 16:9 cropped still and an unedited JPEG version from my camera and exported the resulting 10 second video. The result was better quality, but still noticeably degraded from the original stills. More importantly, both the cropped 16:9 and the unedited JPEG were stretched out of proportion as seen below (16:9 version):
    Of course I forgot to note the original settings on Easy Setup so I can't figure out how to get back to the original lower quality, yet undistorted image (not that I want to do that). I tried numerous different sizes for the export including changing the Crop (when necessary) setting to letterbox. Nothing worked.
    The canvas, however, immediately looked 100% better after switching the Easy Setup to HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60 at 29.97 fps. It held the improved quality without distorting the image:
    I'm not sure if there's any hope of having a great image quality, but at very least I would like to be able to export at the decent quality of the second screenshot without the stretching and cropping.
    I need to have this resolved ASAP for work, I've already wasted too much time here. Any help is so appreciated, I'll be active in providing whatever additional information that I can to responders, though please keep in mind that I'm relatively new to all this, I don't know where to find everything

    I've decided just to try to get back to the export that I showed in the first screenshot. That result came before I started tampering with the Easy Setup. Like I said, when I changed the setup the canvas quality improved drastically and the dimensions seemed to fit much better, but the export was vertically stretched and cropped. I just reset my FCE settings and it turns out the default setup is DV-NTSC, but it's giving me a terrible quality still...
    I just want to get back to that second screenshot's quality.. Could someone suggest what I should switch the easy setup to for importing stills from my Canon 5D Mark ii to yield the right results?

  • Imovie frame speed adjustment for stop motion

    Now I'm on imovie 10.0.6, I can't seem to get the software to let me adjust my frame speed.
    I'm working with stills, that I want to edit into a stop motion piece for some of the film, and show other images as stills for other sections.
    The speed editor is greyed out, as is the FF option. Also, the duration is showing in seconds, where as in old imovie i would go into the preferences to show frames per second.
    Any one overcome this issue and can help how I get the functionality I need?
    thanks

    your workflow is - sorry to say that - a bit ... inconvenient
    the usual workflow is: record using some plain green or blue background, create matte/key new background in, color-process video.
    'matting by hand' skips 50 years of video-processing ...
    you can accomplish that with iMovie, Motion or FCPX. iM and FCPX come with a bundle of 'presets' which allow similar coloring/contrasting/de-saturation as pixlr. FCPX for sure allows much more, in detail manual manipulations of color, although the 'video' tab in iMovie11 offers enough 'knobs' to create the few looks pixlr offers. Motion wouldn't be my first choice, as the app's name implies, it is basicly not meant for such simple color-corrections.

  • Encoding Premier Pro timeline for Encore

    I followed an Adobe tutorial video on how to use Encore CS6 with Premier Pro CC to the letter for making a regular DVD, but instead of getting a .m2v file when I Encode my timeline from Premier Pro, I get three files instead...a .xmp file, a .m2v file with no audio and a separate .wav file.  What's up?

    That is correct - in Encore, use "Import as > Timeline" and select the .m2v and .wav files at once and they come in together. The xmp file contains data for the chapter marks. Encore by default will transcode the .wav audio into Dolby AC3 when you create the DVD.

  • Import from iphoto for stop-motion?

    Hi, I'm trying to import photos from an iPhoto album for a stop-motion project, but the durations don't get set.
    I select all the photos from the album (Media -> Photos). In the Photo Settings I've turned off the Ken Burns effect. In the duration box (next to the turtle) I type "0:03". When I click Apply, the photos are imported, but the duration for every photo is set to "9:29". If I go in manually to every photo I can reset the durations, but as you can imagine, with stop-motion there are a lot of photos!
    Can anyone help? I'm using iMovie HD 6. I've tried a normal DV and MPEG-4 project with the same results.
    TIA...

    Hi,
    I just tested your method. You should be ok with it. But, I did a couple of things differently.
    1. Selected the first photo in the Photos pane. Instead of typing in the 0:03 for the duration, I moved the slider all the way to the left, giving the 0:03 setting. Didn't hit 'Apply.'
    2. Then, I clicked on a group of photos to import. Didn't select a lot of them; did 44 at at time. Dragged them to the timeline where I wanted them.
    Worked fine.
    I tried it clicking on 'Apply' but that put the photos at the end of my timeline. Maybe that is ok for you as you are importing your photos, but it is not good if you want the imported photos somewhere else, such as in the middle of your movie.
