Is there a class to determine valid characters for a file create

I have a JTextfield, and wish to validate that the characters the user has typed are valid for a subsequent file create. Characters such as "/:<>|?\ are invalid for ms windows. But for other platforms, they may be valid.

I could be mistaken, but doesn't Java use the POSIX filename and path conventions? So that, even in Windows, you still use POSIX-style paths in your applications?
Someone correct me on that. But if I'm right, it means you should write your program to transliterate any Windows- or MacOS9-style paths (OS9 used colons as directory delimiters) into POSIX-style paths, like those used on Linux or Solaris.

It sounds like if you open Preferences in Word there will be a place where you can specify where to store autorecover files. Right now it sounds like it's pointing to somewhere that doesn't exist.

  • Dreamweaver CC and Windows 8.1 - Can't Find A Valid Editor For This File Extension

Was running the latest version with no issues and then I loaded Office 2013 .. Now when I am in the remote site and try to double click on a .cfm file, I get a dialog box..Can't Find A Valid Editor For This File Extension..
I tried the support chat and they said Dreamweaver support was not available, try again later???
So I thought I would reinstall the CC version and now I can see the Dreamweaver icon next to the files but still ... can't open the file..
    Any assistance would be appreciated?
    Leo

The issue is only in Windows 8.x where when Dreamweaver CC is installed, it is not able to turn on the file type associations by default.  The workaround for now is to manually add the extensions both within Windows and then within Dreamweaver CC itself.
Go to Control Panel > Programs > Default Programs > Set Your Default Programs and select Dreamweaver CC and then select 'Choose defaults for this program' and Select All or the extensions you want to open in Dreamweaver CC
Start Dreamweaver CC and go to Edit > Preferences > File Types/Editors and add '.cfm .cfc' to the extensions and then add C:\Program Files (x86)\Dreamweaver CC\Dreamweaver.exe then click on Apply and Close
    That should be it.

  • DW CC: Can't find a valid editor for this file extension

    Hi,
I am using dreamweaver cc for 1 month now. I have been having difficulty opening .asp file.
In the File panel, when i click on one of the asp files, the error message is 'Can't find a valid editor for this file extension'.
To solve this problem, I will right click on the file and choose Open with > Dreamweaver.
However, this is very inconvenient. Someone pls help!

You can configure that in your Operating System.  In my version of Windows XP, open any folder and  select TOOLS/FOLDER OPTIONS/FILE TYPES then scroll to the asp file type and select DW as the editor.

Support for ColdFusion and other databases were removed from DWCC. You can add them back with the Legacy Extension, or adding a paid extension from DMX Zone...
About 1/2 way down this page for the legacy extension: http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/
It's a paid extension, but adds back a lot of the things that were removed...

  • Valid Characters for PDF 1.6 User Password

    Hi,
What character set is considered as a valid for user password in Pdf 1.6? I know Pdf 1,6 accepts only single byte characters in user password? Is there any set of valid password characters? I searched Pdf 1,6 spec and adobe forums, but couldn't find anything related to this.
    Thanks
    Venki

    Hi Venki,
Low-bit ASCII will be problem free, but I think that some of the high-bit ASCII characters get interpreted differently between the two platforms. I'm just not sure which ones. Even in Acrobat 9 where the allowable Unicode set is much more robust there are still some characters that the MAC won't allow. I even filed a bug with my counterparts at Apple that if you try to use a Cyrillic keyboard the OS will automatically switch you to a Latin (Roman) based keyboard. They sent the bug back noting that it works "as designed". They are intentionally restricting passwords to Roman characters.

  • Is there a limit on number of characters for WPA2/AES on Itouch 4th Generation, IOS 5.0?

Seen on a few sites that the Itouch prefers 10 to 24 characters, 24 being the maximum.  We are using MobileIron to create profiles, and the current WPA2 Pass phrase is 58 charcters long in ASCII format.  Any help is greatly appreciated.
    King regards

FWIW I use a 63-character random ASCII key and WPA2-Personal (aka WPA2-PSK [AES]) on my iPod Touch (4th gen) device, running iOS 5.0.1, and my home wireless networks. The key is similar to this...
The only problem is its quite a pain to key in using the iPod Touch keyboard. I got around that by creating an Outlook 2010 Note, syncing the note with the iPod, then using copy-n-paste to insert the key into the wireless network profile. All that works well with my home ZyXEL wireless router and my travel Belkin wireless router.

  • Is there table/Report history including timestamp & date for activity type created?

    Hi Guys
I have an audit request for activity type that should include Date of creation/change and timestamp for them, but I don´t know if there is a table or report
    that I should run.
Actually in KP26 in section line item shown the dates but by activity type, I expect to run in mass
I really appreciate if someone have suggestion or idea how is possible to get information with dates and timestamp

    Hi Marco,
If not in standard, this can be achieved by customized field in the table. This is called Append Structure and you can add Z table.
Talk to an ABAP person. He can do it.
I know I have not answered you in a straight way

  • Is there any read-to-use JMF parser for ASX files?

I am looking for a way to play ASX files with ACELP.net 16 Kbits/s, 16000Hz, Mono audio and Windows Media MPEG-4 Video V3 inside from Java.

Thanks for the suggestion, Denis. God forbid Windows users actually download an Apple product instead of their inferior Windows apps nd find out what they're missing, right?
How exactly does Flip4Mac work with FCE? Can I export directly from FCE or Compressor with it? And if it's exported to a .WMV file, will that file have the same high-quality HD image quality that the .264 codec gives in QuickTime? Or will it be automatically down-rezed by exporting to .wmv?

  • Valid Combinations for DImension Members

    Hi All,
We have dimensions for Cost Center and Company code in one of our BPC Applications..Is there a way we can avoid users planning for incorrect combinations?
    E.g. -
    Valid Combinations  -
    Cost Center 1 >>>Company Code 1000
    Cost Center 2 >>>Company Code 2000
In case the user selects Cost Center 1 & Company code 2000 in current view and enters plan values - the system should not allow the same...Is there a way to maintain valid combinations for dimension members (belonging to different dimensions) in BPC???

    Hi Shibu,
It was just an example, to show you how to control the combinations. You might have to design it based on the exact business requirement.
Please note that this wont be a straight-forward process, and you might have to use some VB macros to ensure you get, what you require.
Lets say, based on the expansion, you have 5 company codes to be displayed in the template. You should, first, use an EVEXP function to list all the 5 company codes in some empty region of the template. Use a macro to concatenate all the 5 company codes separated by "|". Then, for the expansion on cost centers, you should again use a macro which will consider each of the 5 company codes at a time, and set the expansion to "P_COMPANY = ABC". Since you have 5 company codes, hence you will have 5 such combinations of member filter pertaining to each of the 5 company codes. Then you must concatenate them using "|", and this should be the memberset option for the cost center dimension.
I understand that this is going to be a bit complex, but I dont see any other option.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there any way to set the default for *.doc document so that Pages opens them automatically?

I have a number of Ms Word documents because I used to have Word for Mac before the last OS release.  Now, of course, when I double-click on them, I get a message saying that PowerPC isn't supported.
Now Pages will open these files.  Is there any way to change the default for *.doc files so that a double-click will open them in Pages?
(Instead of me going to the trouble of finding out where they are actually located on the hard drive so that I can open pages and say - here, open this file--even though you didn't create it--)

Click on a .doc file and type Cmnd I to open Get Info. In the Open with: menu select Pages, then click on Change All…
