Is There A Pure Java Solution?

Is there a pure Java solution for a servlet to create
a popup window? In other words, is there a Java solution
for creating a new window with Java code inside the
doPost() method?

Try setting
response.setContentType("text/html");
response.setStatus(HttpServletResponse.SC_PARTIAL_CONTENT);
and stream html with javascript to pop a window. Don't have code right now...but try to search in this direction. Sure you can do...I will post the code if I find..

  • Is there any pure Java OS for PC ?

    When i testing programe with applet, i found that the performance is not good at all, i think that if there pure native java os here, i can run directly with my class file, is it already be true ?

    i dont think anyone can write an OS purely in java.You are wrong. Mainly because the question isn't very specific. I had the same opinion until someone in another thread convinced me. The solution is not the one you are thinking of. Search for the thread and read the entire thing.
    first question to answer is How good is java's IO? is
    it atleast half as good as that of C? No.Huh? Many implementations that use the Java API library could be improved if the authors took time to write a bettern implementation specific to their library. Or in some cases just used the API correctly in the first place. There is at least one magazine article that points this out.

  • Is there a pure Java way to get Filesystem's space?

    waiting for help

    I've since got a (new to me) router, a RV082 (which gives me 8 ports, I needed more than 4 anyway), and it has a feature, under "system management" quoting from the manual:
    Network Service Detection:
    Optionally, check the box to allow the router to detect network connectivity by pinging specified devices. Then enter the settings below. Uncheck the box to disable this feature.
    •Retry count: Enter the number of times to ping a device. The default is 5.
    •Retry timeout: Enter the number of seconds to wait between pings. The default is 30 seconds.
    I changed this to 400 seconds, and I think the cable modem is seeing the 2nd ping. I tested my little system a couple times by turning off its power mains feed circuit breaker, off for about 20 seconds, and back on again. It seems to come up correctly,

  • Pure java desktop sharing solution released and is available for free

    Hello Everyone,
    There is some good new for all those who were desperately looking for a professional grade desktop sharing solution. The public version of BRACKET software has been released and it has been upgraded to included some very cool features like Desktop Sharing (complete with file transfer support, chat etc) and it is currently absolutely free. Those who want to give it a try can download the software from http://www.bracket.net.in .
    Apart from desktop sharing BRACKET has some very powerful and useful features like web hosting on your own system without need to first take webspace or domain. There is some much more to quote........
    So download the software from http://www.bracket.net.in . And just to mention, BRACKET is a pure java solution so it will work across virtually all operating systems.
    Regards.
    Sidharth

    It's nice, but may be you know some opensource release. I need to integrate desctop sharing in one huge project, and I have no time to write a new one. I hope to find some free opensource version.
    Thanks.

  • Pure Java API to generate/transform linearized PDFs?

    I found some tools on the net to linearize PDF documents. But all use JNI to call some native library (DLL). Is there also a pure Java solution to linearize PDFs?

    Martin,
    Could you pass on the info on solutions you mentioned on java/jni PDF linearization? Iv'e used the pdfopt script based on ghostscript to linearize iText-created pdf files with jpg images. However, pdfopt applied to pdf files with jpeg-2000 images are not properly linearized for a reason I've not tracked down yet. We're building pdf formats for scanned books as part of the openlibrary.org project at the Internet Archive "open source books" project.
    In fact, any free/open source solution for pdf linearization for linux would be very useful, even if not java-based.

  • Generate a thumbnail from HTML by pure Java on Linux without Graphics

    hi - we in a requirement where we have to generate thumbnails from HTML code. The solution must be implemented in pure Java on Linux where there is no graphics support.
    Options tried already are :--
    1. 3rd party websites - rolled out by our client.
    2. Paid products - rolled out by our client
    3. Media Tracker and other java API - no luck as there is no support after HTML 4.0
    4. Using any os dependent native library - rolled out by our client.
    5. Lobo browser - but having troubles like it opens the browser before screenshot is taken, sometimes. Gone through by putting Thread.sleep() in between and saving remote images into a local html file etc. We got some success in there but problem doesn't end here.
    Questions -
    1. In the point # 5 above, our Linux server had graphics support but in code we set the system property java.awt.headless= true before capturing and generating thumbnail. My question is, if we set this property in the code then does it mean 100% that our code will not use any graphics support, if present in the underlying OS?
    2. Is this really possible to generate images in java on Linux where there is no X window/X server installed? Are we just wasting time in order to achieve which is unachievable?
    Any suggestions are most welcome.
    Regards,
    Sanjeev

    Thanks for ur response! Yeah - we tried but requirements are little different. We have HTML that we have to first render. Whatever output comes, we have to take a screenshot. So in order to render the html we have to have a browser first and I believe every OS which is providing browser support is having Graphics capabilities because browser would have frames, windows, toolbars, menubars etc which fall under Graphics.
    The above way is the only way that I know. If there are another way which ofcourse doesn't require graphics support, please let me know.
    So the question basically is - if I follow above mentioned image (like opening browser and capture screenshot) then is it possible on Linux with no graphics support? Actually I read on internet that lobo browser (written in java) supports this kind of feature.

  • Could not load mediaLib accelerator wrapper classes. Continuing in pure Jav

    Can anyone provide an explanation/solution to the following error message:
    "Could not load mediaLib accelerator wrapper classes. Continuing in pure Java mode."

    This problem seems to occur if only the JAI JAR files are installed without the native DLL's. Is there some property that can be passed in to JAI so that it doesn't look for the DLL's? The lookup is causing quite a delay in initial server response time. We don't want to include the DLL's since they are a big pain for our customers to install and the performance issue is not a concern.
    Thanks for any help!

  • How to run a pure java application client with ear deployed on 9ias

    Hello all,
    We want to run a pure java application client which is packed with target bean in the same ear file. In the application-client.xml we refer to some EJBs.
    We deployed the ear file which contains ejb jar module and application client module to oracle 9ias 904 through enterprise manager on unix. The jndi.properties we used looks like this
    java.naming.factory.initial=com.evermind.server.rmi.ApplciationClientInitialContextFactory
    java.naming.provider.url=opmn:ormi://opmn_host:opmn_port:oc4j_instance_name/application_name
    java.naming.security.principal=test
    java.naming.security.credentials=test
    Is there anybody knows how to run such an application client? Do we need to provide such a jndi.properties or not at all?
    Thanks,

  • JVM 1.4 seg faults with pure java code?

    Has anybody else seen JVM 1.4 seg fault when running pure java code? This seems like it shouldn't be possible, but I get the following at indeterminate times. Unfortunately, it is difficult to isolate since decreasing the size of the program avoids the problem. When the seg fault happens, the size in memory is ~1GB and there is plenty of real and virtual memory to spare.

    Hi sevenM,
    Did you figure out a workaround for this problem?. Did you get it solved with the SUN people?. Is it a known bug?.
    I've got exactly the same problem on the same function and VM library.
    Any info on this is very much welcome.

    I get the same error sometimes with tomcat-4.0.4 on a
    Slackware 8.0.0 and JDK 1.4.0. I don't user any JSPs,
    only servlets and the business calls a remote SLSB on
    a remote JBOSS server and afterwards select some data
    form a remote DB2 7.1 over JDBC.

  • How to deploy a pure jave development component to server?

    i have created a pure java development component.
    but i cannot find a way to deploy it to server
    is there any way?

    You need to essencially wrap your java development component with a deployable development component.
    In order to do that, you need to:
    - Define a public part for your development component of type assembly.
    - Create a deployable DC ( one that results in a SDA or a EAR file ).
    - Reference your DC from the deployable DC. This will include the generated .jar file into the project.
    The definitions of the different types can be found here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/93/d5a73f05c4265de10000000a114084/content.htm
    I would either create a library component ( results in SDA ) or a web dynpro component ( ear file ).

  • Can clock synchronization be implemented by pure java?

    I want to build a simple distributed application, whose main purpose is to synchronize the local system clock in the slave JVM with the clock in the master JVM. Can it be implemented by pure java? Or I have to use JNI to implement it?
    And although the application is mainly used in LAN, the delay of transferring the data of time is small, but is there any algorithm to minimize the difference of system clock between the master and the slave?

    No. You can not synchronize the System Clock (clock) in 100% Pure Java.
    Using The Network Time Protocol (NTP) and Java, you can access the current time from many servers around the world.
    The problem here is that you can't change the clock through Java without an interface to the actaul clock.
    Since the clock is a native component (application, service, or utility) you can't change it while being 100% Pure Java.
    That does not mean that you can't do it at all. It just will not be Pure Java. You can, however, test to see what system you are on and then adjust the method used.
    On a Windows system, the clock is set by the Control Panel applet "Date and Time." This applet can be updated using the Command Driven Interface (CDI), also known as a Command Prompt. To do this you can use the Java object Process. The parameter, a String value, should point to the location of command prompt. Then add a PrintStream object to the Process object. Send the following line (using PrintStream.println()) - "time" and "date"
    To update the time use the following line:
    time [ time ]
    Use the time format: hh:mm:sec
    To update the date use the following line:
    date [ date ]
    Use the date format: mm-dd-yy
    This will work on Windows machines (3.x, 95, 98, Me, NT, XP) MS-DOS (all versions with Date/Time capability).

  • Looking for pure Java API to read metadata from an MP4 file.

    Hi, I am looking for a pure Java api that can read MP4 metadata. I have been trying to look online for one but have not found anything
    suitable. If there are no good api's, can someone point me to resources on how to parse metadata from an MP4, tutorials would be great
    as well. I have looked online for that as well but have not found much. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to create a setup.exe from a pure java program

    i have some program using pure Java Swing.... i already created jar files to make it executable everytime you click on the icon... but i want to create a installer type like setup.exe just like in VB....
    How on earth can I do that?!?
    Thanks!

    This is one...
    http://www.excelsior-usa.com/jet.html
    And there are a lot more like jexe n stuff.
    But look out. Only some convert it to pure native
    form. The rest are only launchers - you would still
    need a JRE to run yer program.
    extremely sorry. Didnt read the post properly .Sorry

  • JGL... java opengl, glut, glu written in pure java no jni

    this is a project started by Robin Bing-Yu Chen at http://graphics.im.ntu.edu.tw/~robin/jGL/ .. it contains the opengl calls , glut calls and glu calls that we know form glut and opengl api used in C/C++ and JOGL. the api is written in pure java and no jni, so it only requires the public jre to run.
    oh, it also GPL , so it is free for any one to use in open source or commercial applications.
    the api is greate, if it re-written using java2D calls then we could see performance similar to those in JOGL or java3D api .. as java2D uses d3d or opengl under the hood + there will be no jni calls from the api as it is written in pure java, so no jni overhead.
    now that java is GPL2, i really hope that such api will be soon part of the public jre. this will make java platform ready with 3D api without the need to install jogl or java3D.. also JGL can run in software mood if opengl or d3d is not supported on host machine , again because it is written in pure java .
    please check it out.. and comment.. i hope this api will soon become part of java by default :).

    I finally solved the problem.
    In C++ code, I declared array with huge length (10thousand...) in static way. I changed that to dynamicly created array using operator new, and now everything works perfect.
