Issue with implementing Object Security in RPD (OBIEE 11g)

Hello All,
I am following these steps to implement Object Security, but it doesn't work. Please let me know what am I doing wrong here:
1. I want to block a few presentation tables for the user 'weblogic'.
2. I open the RPD in online mode and in the Identity Manager, for the application role 'BIAdministrator', I setup permissions 'no access' to these presentation tables. It asks me to 'Check Out' which I do.
3. I check in the changes, save the RPD and deploy in back in EM.
4. I login into OBIEE Answers using 'weblogic' user but alas these presentation tables are still available for me to use.
I have tried looking for a solution on the internet before posting the solution here. Please don't ask me to read through the security setup guide because I have done that. Any specific answers are most welcome.

Try this:
Double click on the presentation table.
Go to permissions and then revoke the access to BI Administrators.

Issues with integrating Java script functions in OBIEE 11G

I am trying to integrate some Javascript functions in my OBIEE 11G Dashboard..
I have modified the original common.js file and renamed it as insight_common.js in the following directory (backed up the original file of course)
OBIEE 11G Folder/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/bi_server1/tmp/_WL_user/analytics_11.1.1/7dezjl/war/res/b_mozilla/insight_common.js
In my dashboard, I have a dashboard object as text component where I have checked 'Contains HTML Markup'. I have written the following code:

However, when I launch the dashboard, it is not working.
In the Google Chrome browser as I inspected the element to investigate the reason, I am getting the following error under 'console'
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) http://localhost/res/b_mozilla/insight_common.js
Uncaught ReferenceError: sayHi is not defined saw.dll:611
It seems that OBIEE is not recognizing the new file that I made..
Is there a way around this?

I don't have backgrounds in coding, so a lot of what I wrote came from my own researching...
Now I have tried your latest suggestions again as the below:

Now both codes this time do not yield any outputs when launching the dashboard. The section is blank and the preview of the Text section in the dashboard is blank as well..
So, are you sure these are all the steps I need to take to call javascript function in OBIEE?
Do I need to define anything in weblogic or other places?
I hope I am not missing any steps..

Issue with Excel output in BI Publisher(OBIEE 11g)

Hi All,
I have designed my BIP report in RTF Layout, it contains pivot table( with one column and one row and a measure column). when i export the report in Excel output format, i have 3 issues.
i) I have fixed the pivot table row height as 13.75 pixels in RTF Layout but when i export it into Excel output it comes with 15 pixels as row height.
ii) In layout i have Arial 8 as font formatting, in Excel output it comes with calibri 11 (when i double click on the cell it shows Arial 8).
iii) Pivot table has month Column which grows horizontally when i run the report ie. Jan, Feb,..Dec.In Excel it has to show each month with a single column is my requirement like

But it shows like below, each month occupied multiple columns; it affect the report structure.

Try using substring instead of substr. You may want to try LOGO1 and LOGO2 as texts first just to ensure that the condition is working.

Issue with implementing Find window

Hi,
I am facing an issue with implementing Find window. The find window everything is working fine, but when I am opening the form I am facing the following error
'Error: To retrieve the Information in this block, use menu option view -> query by example -> Enter to invoke enter-query mode, then view -> Query by example > Run to run your query..'
when I click 'Ok', it is navigating to the FInd window.
How can I avoid the above error message?
And also after searching, I navigate to the main window to display the records, but the 'Find' torch icon is not getting enabled, how do I that?

Yes, I have the QUERY_FIND trigger with the code as 'APP_STANDARD.EVENT('QUERY_FIND');'
And also 'first navigation data block ' to my result block. Now that the error is gone, But still the Find Icon is not enabled

Issue with Web Service Security

Dear Forum Members and Readers,
I am a beginner to Web Services, and facing an issue with WS-Security.
My issue seemingly is quite specific to my projects though, It will be great if you can provide me your views.
Context Description:
I am developing a Java Web Service application that is deployed on JBoss Application Server.
This application will communicate with two other applications those are not deployed in same JBoss Application Server.
These 2 applications are third party applications, one is C++ based web services and other is Java based web services.
My application gives a call to Third Party Application1 and receives the response back form it. It then passes this received response to Third Party Application 2.
Issue Description:
I now need to enable https paradigm among these 3 applications. (I need to implement web service security model here)
I started with looking in to JBoss specific WS-Security but found it not suitable in my case, as it requires to configure both the client and server. I have the control over my application but not on other 2 third party applications.
To this extent, I am unable to identify a solution that can address my issue.
Can anybody please provide me with initial thoughts or any reference material that might help me to give this a start.
Any clue will be highly appreciated!

Performance issue with Business Objects Java JRC API in CRXI R2 version

A report is developed using java JRC API in CR XI release 2. When I generate the report in the designer, it took less than 5 seconds to display the results in crystal report viewer inside the designer. But in the QA environment, when I generate the same report from the application, it takes almost 1 to 1.5 minutes to display the same results in PDF. I also noticed that if the dataset contains bigger volume of data, then the reports are taking even longer almost 15 to 20 minutes.
While generating the report from the application, I noticed that most of time is taken during the execution of the com.crystaldecisions.report.web.viewer.ReportExportControl Object method as shown in following line of code
exportControl.processHttpRequest(request, response, context, null)
We thought the delay in exporting the report to PDF might be the layout of the report and data conversion to PDF for such a bigger volume of data.
Then we investigated the issue and experimented quickly to generate the same report with same result set data from the application using XML, XSL and converted the output XSL-FO to PDF using Apache FOP (Formatting Objects Processor) implementation. The time taken to export the report to PDF is less than 6 seconds. By doing this experiment, it is proved that the issue is not with conversion of data to PDF but it is the performance problem with Business Objects Java JRC API in CR XI R2.
In this regard, I searched for the above issue in the SAP community Network Forums -> Crystal Reports and Xcelsius -> Java Development -> Crystal Reports. But I did not find any answers or solutions for this kind of issue in the forums.
Any suggestion, hint in this matter is very much appreciated.

Ted, The setReportAppServer problem is resolved. Now I could able to generate the report with hardcoded values in the SQLs in just 6 seconds where as the same report was generated in CRXI R2 in 1 minute 15 seconds as mentioned in the earlier message.
But, our exisiting application passes the parameter values to the SQLs embedded in the report. For some reason the parameters are not being passed to the report and the report displays only the labels without data.
As per the crj 12 samples codes, the code is written as shown below.
1. Created ReportClient Document
2. SetReportAppServer
3. Open the report
4. Getting DatabaseController and switching the database connection at runtime
5. Then setting the parameters as detailed below

Why the parematers are not being passed to the report? Do I need to follow the order of setting these parameters? Did I miss any line of code for setting Params using crj 12?

Weblogic 10.3.0 issues with remote object calls.

All:
I was wondering if anyone has experienced any issues with Weblogic 10.3.0 dropping initial remote object calls over AMF Secure Channel. Here are the issues we are experiencing.
1. FLEX applications fail consistently on the first remote object call made across the AMF Secure Channel. Resulting in the request not returning from the application server; which has had varying affects on the different applications including missing data, application freeze and general degrading of the user experience.
2. FLEX applications require a browser/application refresh once the application has been inactive for a certain period of time. In our experiences the behavior occurs after 30 minutes of inactivity.
I've deployed this same code to Weblogic 10.3.3 and the behaviors go away. Are there any patches to 10.3.0 that might take care of this issue that we are not aware of?

I found the problem. But I needed change the target of all my datasources until discover that one of my datasource didn´t answer and no errors was trigged.
My server was waiting this datasource, and not get started.

How to resolve Issues while implement gateway security by using reginfo,secinfo?

I want to implement gateway security using gw/reg_info, gw/sec_info, gw/reg_no_conn_info.
so far I have created reginfo and secinfo files to allow all internal traffic and I kept gw/reg_no_conn_info=11, gw/acl_mode=1

with the above setting I believe all the programs with in sap systems(including app servers), also system from domain abc.com can register programs with out having any issues.

similarly as per secinfo content I believe that all the internal traffic can go with out any issue with in sap system.

2)if I want to add a specific programs to register from 3rd party system, suppose a program called "zram" from system "172.198.10.1" where I suppose to add it. Do I need to add that IP to secinfo along with reginfo?
3)when I set parameter gw/reg_no_conn_info=11 when convert to binary it equals to 00001011
what exactly this means from the following definitions from note 1444282
1 1298433 Bypassing security in reginfo & secinfo
2 1434 117 Bypassing sec_info without reg_info
4 1465129 CANCEL registered programs
8 1473017 Uppercase/lowercase in the files reg_info and sec_info
will that means 8+2+1 means satisfying the above 3 lines except condition 4 ?

5)From simulation mode I got to know that It will satisfy reginfo,secinfo restrictions and it will allow all other traffic.so what is the added advantage with this when activate?

Here is answers for questions 4 and 5.
4) I enabled gateway logging, how could I catch rejecting connections from third party systems?
SMGW->Goto->Expert functions->logging
In the above path if you select security->(under that)->Rejected access only
when you select that it should show you the connections getting rejected.
5)For simulation mode you have 2 options. you can activate directly from the above path.Other option if you maintain gw/sim_mode = 1 that will make the permanent simulation mode. But once after all the entries set in reginfo you have to disable simulation mode. with secinfo you will not have much problems.
After doing steps 4, 5 you can see rejected entries in Gateway log.

Issue history:
- Previously running Cisco VPN client on Windows 8 64 bit laptop (VPN working and able to transmit data over VPN)
- Upgrade to Windows 8.1 stopped the VPN client working
- Refreshed system back to Windows 8 and reinstalled all software
- Cisco VPN client would not install on system
- Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client installs and is able to connect to VPN host
- Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client downloads and installs software from VPN host
- Data transmission software returns error code #10060
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Implementing object security in BO XI 3

Hi,
Please let me know how to implement object level security in BO XI 3. I did it in 6 and not in XI. I am able to find the security group in the designer. But not able to find any place to attach the same to the user in CMC as we did in Supervisor. Please guide me.

Login into the CMC and under Universes select the universe you want to assign object security to your users for. In the context menu (right mouse button) select Universe security .

Security question in obiee 11g

I have a question on security configuration on what we have in 10 and deploying to 11g.
Q1. how deploy external database security(users, groups) to OBIEE 11g.
we used external database security in 10g. all the users and groups maintained in database and obiee rpd has security groups. repository has group information only so it is deployed groups information to obiee 11g by upgrade assistant but how can it deploy users in external database?
Q2. all the users and roles in LDAP server. in this case how obiee 11g read users and group information?

Obiee11g is intergated with weblogic fusion middleware (Console,EM). in that console have feature to enable mulitiple LDAP authentication
while configuring AD via weblogic console we need to give the users and group info

Isssue with Login of console,em in obiee 11g

I have installed obiee 11g on linux succefully.I deployed sample applite and checked it and it is working fine.
Aftrer some time , suddenly the hole like console,enterprise manager,analytics getting very slow,I mean the console,em web page able to open but it is taking lot of time to login.

Issue with Info Object Transport after changing Data Type

Hi Experts,
We have a DSO which is running past 5 years. And recently(3 days back) we added new fields into that DSO. Delta loaded for last three days and new info object (Say XXX) data populated into DSO.
Now the problem is, We identified that, info object data type is not correct. We used data type NUMC instead of CHAR.So Character information is missing for that field.
Example:
Data from ECC: ABC123
Data Loaded to DSO: 123 (Missed character ABC)
So we deleted data from DSO and changed the info object data type in Development system.
And also I have deleted only last three days delta records from DSO and transported my info object to Production. But its giving error as: Info object contains data in DSO".
But that info object field is empty in DSO. I have already deleted last three days delta.
Do I need to Delete all 5 years data from DSO to change the data type of recently added new info object ?
Please give me your solutions and ideas to solve this issue.

Thank you for your answer.
When I changed the data type of info object in Dev, I deleted the content of DSO. And same thing transported to QA as well. Before importing changed info object, I just deleted the content of DSO from QA. So transport done successfully QA.
But in Production we have a history of past 5 years. So I cant delete all contents of DSO.
So just deleted only the delta request's which contains data for that info object(3 days back, we moved that info object(NUMC data type) to production,So last 3 days delta only loaded for that info object). And tried to transport it. But it was failed. I am sure we need to drop all data from DSO, if I am interested to go with same info object.
I have some comments on your first approach,
1. If we delete info objects from Dev DSO and transport to Production will give transport failure, Why because, my previous transports errors clearly saying that info object contains data in DSO . So it wont allow to remove that info object from DSO.
2.We are using same info object technical name in BO Data federator also. So if we change add new info objects again we need to make changes with BO as well. I am thinking this point as my last option if i cant find any other solution.

Issue with authorization objects

Hi,
We are running on ECC 6 . There is an issue while adding t-codes to a role.
When we add a transaction code in the Menu tab, for eg, a Z transaction code, it throws up a whole lot of open authorization objects under the authorization tab (open authorizations under FI, MM, so on). The open values proposed are all the default values in SU24. This happens even if we use the 'Read old status and merge with the new'. Our check indicator maintenance for all t-codes seem to be fine. Pls advise.

They are populated again if they were deleted during the earlier maintenance or are in a changed status of the original authorization where new values in SU24 are proposing something different.
That is why you should never delete standard or maintained authorizations and try to avoid the copy & change strategy by maintaining SU24 to meet your needs.
It shounds like SU24 is not as "fine" as you have stated before hand.

IS-U: Migration- Issue with DEVICE object using EMIGALL

Hello Friends,
I need a quick help. The issue is here below.
I am using the object DEVICE to create Device/Equipment. I could able to create an Equipment however I found that in EQUI table the field SERNR is not updated. Actually this field should have the value of EQUNR.
I had tried many times wih differenct possible options but this field is empty in all the trials. I am also using the auto structure CONTR and its sub strucutures COMMIT, UPDATE, INDIV, CONV filling with 'X' but the result is only this field SERNR is not updated in the table EQUI.
Without this field SERNR being field I cannot perform Device Installation (Full/Technical/Billing).
Please share your ideas.

That's possible...
I assume transaction IQ01 and EMIGALL are using the same function EQUIPMENT_INSERT.
If NEW_VEQUI-EQUNR contains already a number, the function does not get a new number from the number range object, for example with external numbering. In case there's no EQUNR given, a new number is taken from the number range object, internal numbering.
If no SERNR is provided when calling EQUIPMENT_INSERT, there won't be a SERNR in EQUI. Just check if IQ01 provides the serial number when calling EQUIPMENT_INSERT.
This means another possible solution is to get a new number for EQUNR in EMIGALL and populate EQUNR and SERNR before calling the service function module ISU_M_EQUI_INSERT. Call function module NUMBER_GET_NEXT for object EQUIP_NR.
This can be done on field level by setting the Processing Type to 4 = Rule (check which of the two fields comes first - EQUNR or SERNR - to assign the number from NUMBER_GET_NEXT and copy the value for the second field) or via events see menu item Utilities: Event, when you're in the object maintenance screen.
