Issue with Thai language font

I am using Indesign CS5 server and my programming language is VB.NET.
I had tried with Tahoma font for THAI language and there were problems with the text even after setting Kerning value to Metrics.
Please see my requirement in the image below. I would require something like the one given in second part of the image. I had used Courier Thai in this case.
Does anyone have any idea which font suits good for Thai language...
Please suggest if there is any Verdana font for Thai language.
Thanks in advance..!!

Hi,
Thanks for earlier replies.
The earlier problem in displaying vowels got resolved.
We found another issue when applying Adobe World Ready Composer for Tahoma font. Now the Numeric digits are getting displayed in Thai language as given in the image below.
The text which we got:
When we remove the composer we get the text as given below. But the other special characters (vowels) displayed are incorrect.
Please suggest if there is any solution for this problem.

  • Issues with Code 39 Font

I am using Crystal Reports XI and have created reports that contain a single barcode. When I export the reports to a PDF format while in the designer preview the report exports fine with the barcode showing correctly. When I publish the report and automate to send to a file folder and a designated printer, both reports are printing without the code 39 Font and the barcode shows in regular Arial font. I have installed the Font both on my personal machine and the server that the reports are published too. To verify that the problem was not isolated to the PDF doc I tried printing to a word format and the report prints the code 39 font in the word doc that is stored in the file folder, but the printed report is still showing as a regular Arial font. Sending to the same printer from the designer preview printed the barcode font so the issue is also not at the printer level. Can anyone advise on the best action to take to resolve this issue with the missing Font in the printed report? Do I need to do anything special to embed the Font in the distributed report? Any help that can be provided is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Hi Greig,
Did you get your problem figure out?  I'm having the same issue.  Please let me know how you got this problem resolve.  Thanks

No.  Read the language part of the tech specs.

If you need to have Thai printed on the keys, that is something you would have to contact stores directly yourself to find out if that is possible.  Nobody in these forums represents Apple or any store.

  • Issue with Chinese language in DI

    Hi all,
My source is AS400 with CCSID=935, my target is Oracle with AL16UTF16. I migrate data from source (in Chinese language) to target by DI version 3.0. I used Client Access ODBC driver to connect to AS400.
It run well. But data is not correct, it can't show in Web Intelligence report, they are only square symbol. It's just got issue with Chinese language, for English, it' fine.
I also tried to set code page of source to shift_jis and target to utf8. But it still got the same result.
I don't know anything I need to set. Please help me to fix this.
    Thanks so much,
    Anh

Yes. I changed the datastore to default.
I used both method: ODBC driver and IBM iseries access to connect to AS400. ODBC is the same in BODI. In universe, I used default, I can see data. But in BODI, I can't.
My machine is BOE client software. But I created universe in my machine, export it. And then from my machine, I created WI report, also export to CMS. And then I view it in ViewInfo. Everything runs well for both connections.
But in BODI, I use it to migrate data to Oracle. I can't see data in DataView of Designer too. Although, I changed locale, set codepage to default as you told, it didn't work.
    Any suggestions please.

  • Working with Thai language in Indesign

    Hello,
I hope someone can help. I need to incorporate Thai text (supplied by client), into some graphics produced in InDesign CS2 (running on OS 10.4)
I have managed to copy/paste some correctly displayed text from the web into TextEdit which is imported into InDesign. (Straight copying into InDesign leaves lines of boxes).
Seems ok but actually the character spacing gets distorted. Accents are slightly off and in some instances take up about a character space all to themselves.
I downloaded a freebie Thai font to try but this left me with squares again.
People must be able to work with Thai copy in industries such as translation but i'm not sure where to go from here! If the best option is to buy in some software, what would you suggest?
Any help gratefully received, with thanks. (From the UK)

As far as I can tell, inDesign CS2 is seriously crippled in Thai. Using Tiger (OS X 10.4.9) I can type or paste Thai text into inDesign CS2, but only as long as I use Apple fonts, i.e. Lucida Grande, Thonburi, Silom, etc.
Even then, inDesign frequently places line breaks in the middle of Thai words, so I assume it is not communicating with the same dictionary as TextEdit, Pages, Word, etc. Also, inDesign CS2 has problems with "floating" tone markers, even though Pages and TextEdit on the same machine do not.
CS3 might be better but I'm not there yet. I do know there is a software solution to improve Thai script performance in Illustrator and inDesign CS3. I don't know much about it other than that it's called Freelock and is mentioned in, and linked from, Graham Rogers' blog here: http://www.extensions.in.th/diary/2007_2/siam01.html

  • Text display issues with htmlText, Embedded Font

    Hey All,
I'm having an issue with the display of my hyperlinks in a
textfield that is using embedded fonts. It offsets the hyperlinks
to the left along the line they are on and the underline doesn't
stretch all the way under the text field. The text display normally
when I don't embed the font. For some reason I think this might
have to do with the embedded character range so I opened it up.
Does anyone know if this range is enough or if there are special
characters flash uses that need to be embedded for their width even
    though they arn't displayed.
    Embedded range:
    [Embed(source='MyriadPro-Regular.otf', fontName='Myriad Pro',
    unicodeRange='U+0000-U+00fe')]

  • Issues with vietnamese language

    Hi ,
I need help in locating the right font , NLS_LANG , database charactersets for a Vietnamese based forms application.
I am having issues with VIETNAMESE_VIETNAM.VN8MSWIN1258 because some of the words are not coming properly in the forms . For example , the word mười when typed in the text box is getting displayed as m??i.
some of my system configurations are given below
    oracle database server : Oracle9i Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production
    Forms version : 6.0.8.25.2
    Database characterset : VN8MSWIN1258
    NLS_LANG : VIETNAMESE_VIETNAM.VN8MSWIN1258
Font in the text item : Courier New
    Thanks in advance
    SJ

VN8MSWIN1258 is formally a single-byte character set. But many Vietnamese characters are composed from a base character followed by one or more combining accent charaters. If you blindly use SUBSTR on such strings, you may cut off some accents. There is no easy solution for SUBSTR in Forms 6i running in Vietnamese.
The problem with pasting seems to be the result of simplified conversion from Unicode (coming from Word) to ANSI (required by Forms). This conversion assumes that one Unicode character code corresponds to one ANSI character code. This is not true for the string that you gave as an example. This string contains four Unicode characters:
    U+006D LATIN SMALL LETTER M
U+01B0 LATIN SMALL LETTER U WITH HORN
U+1EDD LATIN SMALL LETTER O WITH HORN AND GRAVE
    U+0069 LATIN SMALL LETTER I
"m" and "i" can obviously be converted to VN8MSWIN1258 as 0x6d and 0x69.
'Latin small letter u with horn' can also be converted to 0xfd. But there is no precomposed 'latin small letter o with horn and grave' in Cp1258. This ANSI code page encodes the character as 0xf5 (U+01A1 LATIN SMALL LETTER O WITH HORN) followed by 0xcc (U+0300 COMBINING GRAVE ACCENT). The conversion performed by paste operation cannot handle this. The solution here is not to paste from Word. You have to use some other source.

  • Issues with 1920 resolution, fonts look tweak and broken

i just bought a new led display, wich allows 1920x1080 resolution.
With this resolution fonts looks like tweak and broken, very annoying.
Firefox is the only application that suffers this problems. Opera and Internet Explorer looks perfect, and also all the others applications installed.
Clear Type option is activated, and works perfectly.
The only way to solve the probleme is to reboot firefox and execute in safe mode.
I have no extensions nor personal preferences (bookmarks either). I've just uninstalled Firefox with all personal data and reinstalled. And the issue stays.
In safe mode all looks perfectly.
    I'm running windows 7 64bits
    Graphics: RADEON HD 6950

I did a test using Chunk and a few other fonts that are similar plus one I know works well and the fonts that are similar to Chunk tend to look very pixelated when viewed in Firefox. Look fine in Chrome and Explorer...
This might be something that the techs at Adobe (Type Kit) would have to look at.
I posted an image, but not sure if it shows the problem that well.

  • Issues with Thai wrapping

I have been trying out TLF with various spark and FTE components, but unfortunately have been having issues with line-wrapping in Thai. It doesn't seem to break in between words.
For example, I have tried a spark TextArea/RichText/RichEditableText and set locale for the components to 'th_TH'.
    Four Questions:
    1) Should Thai be working correctly?
    2) Does setting locale matter at all?
    3) Do FTE & TLF components have the same bidi/international capabilities? Or is TLF more robust? (For example, should thai/arabic/etc work the same in both a FTE/TLF component?)
    4) When highlighting Thai/Arabic/Hebrew in certain components, the characters shift all around with the cursor. Is this a bug?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi bogmead,
There is a attribute to control line wrapping in TLF. The attribute should be set on flashx.textLayout.element.TextFlow(<s:TextFlow> in Flex) or some of its child elements, rather than flex components.
    <xs:attribute name="breakOpportunity" type="xs:enumeratedString" default=" auto"/>
Controls where a line can validly break.
    Valid values include:
    • auto Line breaking opportunities are based on standard Unicode character properties, such as breaking between words and on hyphens.
    • any Indicates that the line may end at any character. This value is typically used when Roman text is embedded in Asian text and it is desirable for breaks to happen in the middle of words.
    • none No characters in the range are treated as line break opportunities.
    • all All characters in the range are treated as mandatory line break opportunities, thereby creating one character per line. This value is useful for creating effects like text on a path.
A range is a continuous group of characters that have none applied. Therefore, selecting “one of” and applying none, results in a range of characters starting with “o” and ending with “f” that have none applied and will not get any line breaks inside the range.

While testing the Russian translations, we are running into an issue . Basically the contents for the Russian translation when accessed from application, look all malformed. And,our portal application ends up showing what is merged in(that is malformed text as opposed to properly decoded russian text) . Looks like while creating the ear file jdeveloper just picks up the encoded characters and does not actually convert it into russian text. We have set our environment to UTF8, and the browser encoding includes the Cyrillic (KOI8-R).
    Any pointers will greatly help.

    Hi,
It seems the property files are stored somehow with wrong characterset (not UTF-8)
Have you checked for german umlaut (like ä,ü,ö,...) in your german property files too? Are they ok?
We had similar issues with the german language a long time ago and as far I can remember it was the encoding setting in jdev preferences:
Tools --> preferences --> environment --> Encoding should be "UTF-8"
Project properties --> compiler--> Character Encoding should be "UTF-8"
If you have to change this setting then you have to edit and save the russian property file again.
As mentioned in the other post you can use native2ascii (http://docs.oracle.com/javase/1.4.2/docs/tooldocs/windows/native2ascii.html)
at the command line to verify the encoding faster than deploying and run the application.
native2ascii is used also when you build your project in Jdeveloper to convert all the property files.
    regards
    Peter

  • Do Apple offer wireless keyboards with Thai language characters in the UK?

Can't see them in the store. I assume they produce one for Thai customers. I need one for Uni this year and I'm not keen on stickers.

Oh dear, that is annoying! I tried searching on Amazon, but the best they have is English keyboards with Thai characters on them =/
If I find anything, I'll be sure to tell you

  • Photoshop CS4 Extended, issues with resolution and font sizes on Mac

I have Photoshop CS4 Extended, which worked fine on my old 15 inch Macbook Pro, I think it was 2011 and had high definition display.
I now have a new 15 inch 'late 2013' Macbook Pro with retina display (2880 x 1800), and OS 10.9.4
    I have 2 problems:
    1) Using photoshop now, the resolution is a lot worse than with my old computer, even though my screen is higher resolution.
For example, the images themselves are worse resolution on my display, far less crisp and more pixelated than any of my other programs. And even the windows such as 'save as...' screens are terribly pixelated also. Is there a way to fix this?
    2) When using the type tool, I cannot find how to change the size of the font. There used to be numbers which I could change, and also select the font type, both on the top menu bar always visible. Now there is not anymore. What there is there at the top, is what looks to be a bar on top of another bar. The top layer bar is on the left and reaches about one third of the way across the top, and I can drag it by its corner so it can extend more, but not less. It looks like there are things behind it which I cannot see, because it is over the top of them. Perhaps the text size and font options are stuck behind that. What can I do?
    Many thanks!
    Justin

Hi JJMack, you said "Seems like you want a low resolution display hook and external display to it." I do not know what that means. I did a google search for "low resolution display hook" and it came up with zero results. Also I do not have an external display, only my laptop.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this issue? I would greatly appreciate any solution.
    Thank you!

  • IPad Air/iOS8.1 - Text to speech issue with multiple languages.

    Hi,
I'm facing troubles while letting my iPad Air (iOS 8.1) to read a text (pdf book in English) loud as it reads one page correctly in English (text is in English)while some other pages it tries to read in Czech (text in English), which sounds strange (and it is hard to understand too). I have both languages installed. Same issue happened with a web site content as well.
Could anyone please help me with that?
I need let iPad read the book loud at once, as it is written - in English.
    Many thanks,
    M.

    Hi Tom,
    thanks for responding.
It is unlikely. I have just opened the pdf and swiped with two fingers from the top of the iPad' rim and the "read all page" function has immediately started to read the content automatically.
But as it ends reading this page and continues to read the next one, the problem occures (Czech voice starts to read english text on the second page, which is in English too). iPad stayed untouched during reading.
Nor if I try to select block of text. If I select just few words on both pages, the reading option appears, giving me option to choose language. Then it works correctly on both "sample" pages. But if I do the same and tap and select whole page as a block of text, then again the issue occures.
    Wierd...
    Thanks for help.

  • Problems Flex with Thai language

When I develope a flex application, I can type Thai characters in windows in TextBox without any problem. Windows shows thai characters properly. However, after I deploy my application on the webserver and access the application via Mac or Linux. Flex seems not to show thai character properly. I am sure that the other foreign languages have this problem as well.
    Somebody please help.

It may depend on which font you are using and how those fonts are supported on other platforms.  Try different fontFamily names.
