ItemEvent problem.

Question

Hi all,
I am having a bit of trouble with the ItemEvent class. I need to get the String representation of a checkbox that has been clicked similar to getActionCommand() in the ActionEvent class. I have added some of the source at the end.

I'm not sure I understood your question. You can get
the item that triggered the event from the event itself.
With it, I'd rather compare its address than a string
representation, i.e. Object item = event.getItem();
for (int i = 0; i < checkBoxes.length; ++i)
   if (item == checkBoxes[ i])
      // got itrather thanObject item = event.getItem();
if (item instanceof AbstractButton)
   String text = ((AbstractButton)item).getText();
   for (int i = 0; i <= opts.length; ++i)
      if (text.equals(opts[ i]))
         // got it
}In any case, mind that such event listening is meant
for updating the appearance of the dialog before
the user hits OK. The last word comes from getting the
value of check boxes after the user commits the dialog.
