Iweb name conventions

Apologies in advance for asking probably a simple question.
My iweb site is hosted with another company and uses a domain name that I purchased.
In iWeb the individual page names in the 'tree' on the right hand side, the main page is labelled/named 'Home' if i go to rename this all pages become 'altered' (icon on tree turns red) needing to be republished.
If i do re-name the first page, presumably the entire site gets re-published/
Does this matter or affect in any way the link to my Domain name, in other words if i do this will I break the link?

It depends on how you made the link. If you used url forwarding and typed in a longer web.me.com url including something you have changed, then you need to fix that to match the change. If you used CNAME where you just typed in web.me.com, then changing page or site names does not affect the link.

I am sending an OAGIS xml file(CUSTOM DOCUMENT over internet) through interal delivery channel to our supplier, I am getting an below error.
I got the same error while processing an EDI transaction, I change the file name, and then it processed successfully
ex: Penske_850_4010_1_25
in the same way for sending an file(CUSTOM DOCUMENT over internet) , do we have any file naming convention
I tried with Benchmark_850_4010_1_25, it showing a 2nd error.

I used to get "Unable to identify the trading partner agreemen" due to below reasions,
1. Agreement is not deployed properly. Please check whether deployed agreement is in active state.
2. While creating the Operational Capability, please check whether initiator and responder defined correctly.
For Outbound, Please check Remote trading partner Is Initiator should be false and Host trading partner Is Initiator should be true.
As far as I know, File name convention should be folllowed for FTP/File and not for HTTP.

File name convention when accessing NI 9802 from RT Host vi.

I have a question regarding the file name convention to use when writing files to a NI 9802 module.
Just to note, I'm using a 9014 controller with a 9104 chassis, LabVIEW 8.6 RT/FPGA, and NI-RIO 3.0.
I've read a post regarding the subject. The post says to use the DOS 8.3 naming convention in the form of "CRIO-X##.BIN". All uppercase letters. See http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/D15720EB0F60FAC58625732700070081. (Also, I guess from reading the post that you're limited to 255 files per directory, maybe?) The built in example for writing data to a file on the 9802 from a RT Host vi shows using "Example.txt" as the filename. However, the built in example for writing directly to the 9802 from the FPGA using Methods does use the "CRIO-X##.BIN" convention.
I guess what I'd like to know is this: Does writing data to the 9802 from the RT Host vi require using the "CRIO-X##.BIN" convention (to be efficient, anyways)? I was hoping to use filenames that actually had the date/time in the name (e.g. Node2_09_04_59__10_30_2008.txt). Does the "CRIO-X##.BIN" convention (DOS 8.3) only need to be used when writing directly to the 9802 through Method Nodes?
I'm not writing lots of data real fast, but rather, recording some data for long periods of time (many days). Additionally, I plan on writing the data as text.

Hi Stephen,
The CRIO-X##.BIN naming restriction comes only from the limitations of the FPGA. We sometimes encourage people to follow this naming convention only because we don't want people using RT to suddenly realize they'd now like to use it from FPGA and now they have to rename all their files. If you are only using 9802 from RT you can names your files anything that's valid in the FAT16 filesystem. This includes names that are longer than 8.3.
The reason for all this is that in the FPGA case, the entire filesystem must be implemented on the FPGA. We have to make lots of trade offs for FPGA space. When you use the 9802 from RT the filesystem is implemented on the controller and is a more complete implementation.
You are also correct that from FPGA you are limited to 255 files. Post again if you have any other 9802 questions.

Active Directory Domain Name Convention

I'm creating a brand new domain for a new company I have just started at. We currently use Office 365 so sharepoint and Exchange are both in the cloud and our website is also outsourced.
I am now rolling out our first DC on Windows 2012 Server and I'm find conflicting reports on what naming convention I should use for AD with use with hosted exchange.
Most seem to point at using a subdomain of our main site, like corp.mydomain.com whereas I come from a background using Server 2003 where its always been mydomain.local
Can anyone advise me on this one and are there any additional thoughts around implementing with an existing Office 365 setup?

It seems that mydomain.local is recommended less often (if not discouraged) because certificates from a third-party CA will no longer accept internal domain names, like mydomain.local, in the near future.

In any case Office 365 will not interact with internal names. If you use such a name currently, you'd have to configure a UPN suffix allowing users to connect with the external name. This link might

Change first name/last name convention for individual contacts

Hello. First off, I'm aware of how to set the convention globally under System Preferences. However, what I'm looking for is the ability to set this for individual contacts. This is an issue, because not everybody has an English name, but for those that do, firstname/lastname works better than lastname/firstname -- the reverse is true for those without one.
Basically I just need a way to change this setting for individual contacts. Is there a way?

There's no way to edit the setting individually. However, there's nothing to prevent you from putting a first name in the last name field or vice versa if it suits your needs better.

Package name convention

Is there any recommended convention for package names? I have seen several projects using such convention that all Panels are in a *.panels package, all Events in a *.events package etc. Do you recommend such convention?

If you are working for a commercial company, then the general packaging structure is
com.<my-company>.<my-product>.<my-module>
Suppose if you are working for some company "ladia" some product whose name is "portfolio" and you have the modules - view, model,config in your product, then you have to use the package structure like,
package com.ladia.portfolio.view.<my-class-name>;
package com.ladia.portfolio.model.<my-class-name>;
package com.ladia.portfolio.config.<my-class-name>;
You can have sub folders in view, model etc.. also.

Factory, Factory Method etc.. - method name conventions?

hi,
this might be a minor point but is there a convention for naming methods whose job is a level of indirection for obtaining new objects? in the java libraries there are methods that do this with various names eg.
newMyObject()
createMyObject()
and i think i've seen
getMyObject() somewhere (not as a normal getter but as an object creator) but will check..

Based on code I have seen, both in real work and on the Web, I'd say that there are only organization-wide , if not personal, conventions - no universal naming scheme - so you'll probably get only personal feelings.
As for a general convention, I have seen all forms you propose, so none of it is either a defacto standard, nor universally rejected...
As for my personal (but argumented) feelings:
I favor getMyObject(), as it's rarely misleading, especially if it's already in a Factory class. This way, a factory method implementation will have the freedom to create a new object or reuse an existing one.
Actually it's not very different from getters, whose point is to return a "property" value, no matter whether this value is calculated or stored.
The createMyObject() flavor is a bit too explicit to allow for reusing of cached or recycled objects, but it is the clearest form for a factory method that would by design be required to always return a newly created object.
The newMyObject() form has the same overspecifying drawback, plus the additional flaw of being easy to misread - and actually understood as a constructor invocation. So I avoid it - and frown when I see it.
I sometimes use getOrCreateMyObject(), though not exactly as a factory method, rather for getters of a property I don't want to be null (and which has a reasonable default value, of course).
I must admit, this hasn't got a huge enthusiasm from my colleagues either...

Name convention, Capture vs Projects

Hi,
I am to start capture about 60 tapes (SVHS-C) from my VHS player thru Canopus ADVC-55 in DV format using Premiere Pro (PP). Doing so I create a "Capture" project in PP, only to get the DV file to a scratch disk mostly named/structed accerdence to the tape content. When doing the real job, creating the Movie, I have to creat "Movie" project named after the content of the Movie. So now I will have about 60 project named after Tape Captured and lot of Project named after what I have created as my "movies". Some of the PP "Capture" project will ofcause be the foundation for creating the "Movie", sometimes starting point for a partly a new subject. Mostly I have to creat new Movie projects were I bring in captured files from diffrent places on the scratch disk.
Are there anyone that can advice me how to set the name convenstion so it is easy to see what is only "Capture" project and what is real Projects or in a other way distinguage between those to types of projects to make it easier to find the real Projects in PP when you work in the future (names could be very similar) or any structure that helps. Anyone who having any experience in this area to solve this simple question?

Seems to be a dead end. If I understand you rigth, when capture you name the file Miscellaneous project and that will be the name on the scratch disk aswell but Capturing 60 tapes with the same project name will be hard to handle later on. Are there not any better strategy?

Android enrollment name convention enrollment

We have a major problem with Android device enrollment
when we enroll a device - it shown in the admin portal as [device name first 6 letters]_Android[Date and Time of enrollment]
for example tamir_Android03/03/15_10:00 AM
our problem here is that we provision all the company owned devices and name them as
Contoso01, Contoso02, etc...
In that case - what happens is that we enroll them to intune (With a service account) in the portal we see Contoso_Android.....
and they all run over each other! we just enrolled 10 devices and only the last one appears in the console :O !!!
after un-enroll a device, change its name and enroll it again - it still remembers the
Contoso!
there's no way to change the name. what can we do!?!

Project Name Convention

Hi all
I created a Project named Student Database(with space in between it)
and in a jsp file i m giving the location for an image as
C:/Student Database/image1.gif
Does this cause problem?

It is not recommended because it CAN lead to an error depending on your operating system. At any rate it's a bad idea.
Also, static path references to anything in a web app are a bad idea.
My recommendation would be to move the graphic to
/web root/graphics/your graphicand then change the reference in the jsp to something like
<img src="<%=request.getContextPath()%>/graphics/your graphicPS

SAP is a german software and nowadays many parts are develoled all around the world but the first language was as far as I know in German and many things are translated into sometimes not the best english.
The other thing is that one transaction could be developed by one developer another by another guru, so there could be some differences as well.

IWeb Domain Name Question, Please Help

I created an iWeb website hosted on my .Mac account.
I forwarded my personal domain name, so that the website uses the domain <www.JohnPositive.com>.
But once it gets to the site, the domain in the URL line changes to the long iWeb name of <www.johnpositive.com/jp/CASA.html>.
What's bad about this is that I have a nationwide ad coming out that advertises the webpage of my site <www.johnpositive.com/students>, but the problem is that .Mac doesn't recognize this site, because it's changed to the long iWeb name of <www.johnpositive.com/jp/students.html>.
How do I convert that URL back to a shorter URL, such as, <www.johnpositive.com/students>?
I appreciate anyone's help on this. Must I create a redirect page? Are there some settings I'm missing?

the url instantly changes and is long.
This is the way CNAME pointing works with .Mac. If you like you can make things shorter by shortening the names you give your site and pages.
Your "url", namely what people need to type to get to your site, is of course just the short version. What appears in the browser address bar is really irrelevant, but if it matters a lot to you, then you can undo everything you did for CNAME and switch to ordinary url forwarding/masking. With that, for every page on your site only www.myname.com will appear in the browser address bar for every page.

Logical system name vs. destination name - CUA -

Hey experts,
at the moment I´m thinking about using the CUA in our SAP environment for role distribution.
In this scenario I need destinations to the child systems (of course!). In all manuals I found it say, that i HAVE to create destinations which have the same name as the logical system. However, this is not possible cause this is against corporate name conventions.
So I tried to use different destination names, but when I use the function "text comparison" (SU01->Roles) it always fails and says that the destination to the child system is missing.
So here my question: How can I tell the CUA not to search for destinations named like the logical system????

Hey John,
piece of cake ;).. that's what I thought at first. Unfortunately it´s not that easy. This is because of partially really strict restrictions within the SAP-Software.
At the one Module, you can choose the destination, is used for a particular group of functions. At the next, you simply can´t. SAP says "you need to have a destination, named as the logical system name". And there is no way around.
Maybe I´am the first guy being disturbed by this "feature"....
Of cause, I already placed several posts within the basis section... but still.. no way around. In one case I even opened a ticket at SAP... (I already posted the answer above) ....

Rename file name & format using ftp sender

Hi all,
This is regarding the renaming of file at sender file(FTP) communication channel and placeing the same file in the same folder.
At FTP server at sender side (i.e.clients place) is in .txt format.But now .txt file has to rename and change into .sav foramt with below required name convention of file.
client format is : SAP_Order.txt (Pervious file name).
We need to change the file in to "SAP_Order_yyyymmddThhmmss.sav" format..
How can i achieve this requirement?
Can please suggests me solutions ASAP.

Hi,
if your requirement is to pick the existing file in the FTP folder...and send as idoc to the target and place the renamed file to FTP folder...
then its simple...
use two receivers instead of one , one for point to target and other for sender itself... (second receiver is for changing the file name format....)
