Iwill be replacing my HD and loading Win 7. Once done I will install Firefox. How doe I back up my bookmarks, toolbars, add-ons and reinstall them. I want my Firefox to be identical on W7 and it is now on XP Pro.

I have PC w/ XP Pro. HD going bad. Will replace and load Win 7 32bit. How can I back up my current Firefox so when I install on new HD the Firefox is identical to my currrent set up and all add-on, bookmarks, etc?

There are some add-ons and utilities that can be used to copy the profile folder (location where user data is stored). The first one is the FEBE add-on ([https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/febe/]) which can be used to copy a profile. Another option is the free MozBackup utility ([http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/])

  • TS5406 I reinstalled my OS (Mavericks) and when I now open logic pro x

I reinstalled my OS (Mavericks) and when I now open logic pro x I dont have any drum machines or any other old library categories on the left. Theyve been replaced with drums and percussion, voice, etc. If I open an old project they reappear. Any ideas?

Make sure you have signed into the Mac App Store using the same Apple ID you used to purchase it originally.
Then and only then will; it show up under the Purchase tab...
If you are sure you are using the correct Apple ID then contact Apple directly and ask them for assistance.

  • Can't add bookmarks, having tried resetting toolbars and uninstalling all bookmark-related add-ons.

The Help suggested the resetting of toolbars using safe mode, and I did that, and I still can't add bookmarks. I have never had any bookmark-related add-ons, and went through just to make sure. Any suggestions?

If Safari worked correctly in the other User Account, the remedy usually points to replacing a localized corrupted file in the affected User Account, rather than an Application install. The latter usually does not help.
Hopefully, you haven't trashed the existing Safari.app. Let me know if you have.
Perhaps the Safari preference file is at the root of the problem. Go to the Finder: navigate to HD>Users>Your User Account>Library>Preference file. There, move to the trash the com.apple.safari.plist file, then restart Safari. You'll need to reestablish any Safari preferences in either the Preference panel, or in the View and Edit (spelling) menus.

  • How can I get Firefox to load "Background" images in Windows 7(32 Bit)? They will not load in Windows 7 Professional but will load in XP Virtual console when I installed Firefox there. How do I get it to load properly in the normal Windows 7 window?

    I have a Toshiba laptop Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q740 @1.73GHz 1.73 GHz , 4.00 GB RAM, 32-bit Operating system
I noticed the problem after installing Firefox 4.0.1, but by uninstalling and reinstalling found it was also a problem with the previous version.
There are no boxes displayed on this form, but on my XP desktop computer, they are displayed. I have both open so I know where to type.
I installed Firefox on the XP virtual console on this machine and it worked fine, but not using Windows 7.
None of the posted suggestions for similar questions on this forum worked.

  • I am running Firefox 3.6.13 on MacOS X 10.6.6 and cannot edit bookmarks saved under folders on the bookmarks toolbar, by right clicking on them.

This problem concerns the bookmarks I have saved under folders that are visible in the Bookmarks Toolbar just under the URL window on Firefox. On my firefox browser in Windows XP I can expand one of these folders, right click on a bookmark underneath and I get the properties option which allows me to modify the Name or Location of the Bookmark. Unfortunately I cannot do the same on Firefox running on my Macbook Pro.

If it doesn't work with the Bookmarks toolbar then you can try to do it in the Library (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks).

  • I have Firefox 12 installed, and went to install add-onns, i added maybe 6 add ons, none of them show up under "add-ons"

I have installed Firefox 12, i then added 6 add-ons, when i go check on them, i go to "tools"\"add-ons", and find nothing there. Some show up under "tools" (like tweaktube and delicious) but none show up in the main list of add-ons.

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.

  • Replaced hard drive and upgraded RAM, now my Macbook won't start up?

At the suggestion of a "genius," I recently replaced the hard drive on my 2008 macbook with an SSD while also upgrading my RAM to 8 GB.  When I attempt to power up, I get only a flashing gray folder with a question mark.  I've tried several of the fixes from these forums (PRAM reboot, hold down "option" key, D, X, etc.) but nothing works.  I rechecked the installation of the SSD and RAM and they look solid.  Any suggestions?

My old hard drive crashed, so my intent was to restore the OS and everything else via my time machine back-up.  (That's the direction I got from the genius rep.)  Am I missing a key step somewhere?

  • TS1440 A flashing question mark appeared when I started my MacBook Pro, I've tried all the suggestions and nothing has worked. How can I back up my current files so I can reinstall Mavericks?

I recently did a manual reboot after my MacBook Pro had frozen, and instead of the usual Apple and loading icon, it gave me the flashing question mark on a folder, which I've never encountered before. I looked up some possible reasons on my PC, and after reading that there's a problem with my HD I tried looking up how to back up my files so that I can do a clean reinstall of Yosemite (latest ver.). However, I've never used anything like Time Machine or anything else that could back up all my files, so it didn't sound like I could do anything about that at this point. I've also tried going into Disk Utility and attempting to repair the disk image. There was only 2 available, disk0 and the base system. I verified the base system, and told me there was nothing wrong (it didn't give me the option to repair anything either, on both available options). I don't think this is the right thing though, since my drive was called MacBook Pro HD. So basically this is the point I'm at now. Is there anything I can do that will repair my HD without erasing all my files?

I've tried all the suggestions and nothing has worked.
I verified the base system, and told me there was nothing wrong
Hold the option key on boot to see if you can select your Macintosh HD.

You can boot into Recovery and re-install the OS X on top of what you have.  It will preserve your user data.

  • How can I eliminate the constant attempt of add-ons opening in new tabs and tabs redirecting everytime I open a page or website that I DO want??

No matter what page or website I am on, as soon as I go to another website or want to open a page of my choosing, multiple unwanted pages try to open wanting me to add on, install, etc. or additionally, get tabs opening that say redirected. Result is that the whole time I spend on the net, I keep having to close 2 or 3 tabs of wanted pages constantly trying to open before I can stay on the one I actually want.
In addition, is there any way to modify or eliminate the constant popups opening on the sides, the bottom, and tops of pages...all over the place, while I'm trying to view a page. I spend more time trying to close all that junk before I can read something and then it even comes back and I have to do the same thing again.?????????
    please HELP!!!!!!

Sounds like you have have inadvertently picked up a dose of Malware.
Sometimes a perceived problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

  • When I try and install firefox it says that I do not have the correct privaliges- MAcBook Pro.

When I try to update Firefox, it says that I do not have the correct privileges.

You can try to repair the permissions for the Firefox application files and folders.
    You can also do this:
Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
Install the new version that you have downloaded.
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • I store all my files on my Gdrive, eventually my Gdrive will fail. How best to back up the Gdrive? Should I replace it every few years?

What is the best way to ensure I don't loose my images from my gdrive, because eventually it will fail. thank you

You are quite right, your drive will die, it is just a matter of when.
Back it up every time you finish a session in Aperture, either using the vault feature, time machine or another third party app.

  • I installed firefox on a new Win 8 laptop, and my account can not sync with my Win 7 laptop.

I recently purchased a new Win 8 laptop. When I installed firefox and go to sync in option, it doesn't give me the old 4x3 box with code. When I entered my email, it couldn't find my account either.
I am not sure where is the problem, because my old Win 7 laptop and HTC One X are both synced, when I could use the 4x3 box. The Win 7 firefox and Win 8 firefox are both ver 29.0.1, but the sync tab in option looks different.
In summary, I have two problems
    1) My old laptop has a sync account set up long ago, but not firefox is not recognizing my account by my email.
    2) My new laptop doesn't give me the 4x3 sync code.
    3) Just for safety, is there a way to export all of my firefox setting and bookmark from my win 7 laptop? This way I can have the files for backup, in case my sync account is corruptedd or something, and maybe I can import the files to the new laptop this way.
Please let me know if there are solutions to these problem. Thanks!

  • Why does the Add-ons manager take an excessive time to load and can I view my add-ons without going to the add-ons manager?

When I start my browser up my everything that I have been working on comes up without any problem and I can open a new tab to go to another site without a problem, but when I go to the Add-ons Manager it can take over 3 minutes to load and that's if I don't stop it. My other question is can I view my add-ons, plugins, etc without having to open the Add-ons Manager?
