J2EE, possible to serve clients jsp files that are outside the war file?

Hi, I was wondering with a J2EE webserver if it was possible to serve clients webpages from jsp files that were outside the client.
For example say you got your war file in the auto deploy directory on the server and also on the server you got a directory full of jsp files that could be accessed by the webserver just like normal jsp files inside the war file?
...I want to do this because I want to be able to add jsp files without rebuilding the war file.
....Or is it possible to make the webserver rebuild itself, eg to add or remove files?
Thanks

If you are using a S1WS6.1, please try to find a line with WEBAPP in server.xml.
You should find a line like this.
<WEBAPP uri="/simple" path="/opt/SUNWwbsvr/https-test/webapps/https-test/simple" enabled="true"/>
The path parameter shows the directory where the S1WS refers to when the webapplication is executed.
You can put a jsp into the directory and modify it accordingly.
Please refer to the following docs. They might help.

Excellent question. I don't see any client-jar in your EAR file structure. So I am assuming you are writing a separate client application which will talk to the ejbs deployed as part of this EAR. You need to do the following:
Write another EAR file with the following structure:
    ear:
    META-INF/application.xml
    util.jar
    client.jar
client.jar should have a META-INF/MANIFEST.MF and that should contain Class-Path:util.jar and value for Main-Class attribute.
Now deploy this new ear to your application server and execute it using Application Client Container that comes with your app server.
If you don't want to write another EAR file, then bundle th client.jar in your original EAR file.
    Points to note are:
you have to repackage util.jar again inside this ear file.
For portability reason, you should use Class-Path manifest entry in client.jar. Refer to http://java.sun.com/j2ee/verified/packaging.html and J2EE platform spec section #8.2.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to backup the files that are into the Time Capsule HD? is it possible?

Hi my question is not so simple...I think
I'm using a TC only as a router and a network HD
and I saved on it all my movies, tv shows and also my itunes library and iphoto library to share all this stuff also to my mac mini which is connected to my Plasma tv.
I wanna know if is it possible to backup with time machine the TC hard disk
because I don't know how to tell to time machine to backup not my macs but my TC.
I read this article that explain How to enable Time Machine on unsupported volumes
    http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/10/how-to-enable-time-machine-on-unsupported-vol umes/
You think that if I activate this option Time Machine can read from TC and make a backup of it?

No, sorry, Time Machine cannot back up a network drive.
You can copy ("archive") everything on the TC's internal HD to a USB drive connected to it, per the green box in #Q6 Using TIME MACHINE with a TIME CAPSULE *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum. That's probably the simplest and easiest way, but it's also likely the slowest.
Or, see Kappy's post on Basic Backup, complete with links to the web sites of each product. I've also heard that Chronosync may work for this purpose.

  • Storing pairs of files that are identical except for file type

I want to store Word 2010 docx and PDF versions of the same document in SharePoint Online. The Word version should only be visible to members of the engineering department. The PDF version should be visible to everyone in the business. Apart from file type,
all other parameters people would use to organise the files (product name, product series, model number) are the same between the Word and PDF versions of each pair. When I update the Word version, the PDF would be replaced with a PDF of the updated Word file
    (maybe automatically, maybe manually).
Is this best implemented as two separate libraries or as one library with something like a view to control who can see the Word files? Or is there some still better way to implement management of pairs of files like these?
This might sound like a basic question, but I am a SharePoint novice and I've not been able to find guidance on this online (maybe I have been searching with the wrong keywords?).

... the dng converter wont convert a jpeg to dng only camera raw files...
    Didn't know about that.
In this case, you can use Lightroom to convert to DNG:
    Start a fresh catalog.
    Import all your JPEGs.
Use the Convert to DNG command in Library module to convert all JPEGs at once. It will place the new DNGs in the same catalog as the source JPEGs.
Open the original catalog where the DNGs are missing — the old catalog should be fine finding the newly created DNGs now.
You can now trash the "new" catalog.

  • HT2128 How do I recover old files that are labeled "Unix Executable File?"

Some files that were transfered from and older mac are labeled "Unix Executable File."  How do I resd these files?

There is a terminal command called file which will give you a hint of what the file is.
    /Appliactions/Utilities/Terminal
    me ~$ file pki
    pki: directory
    me ~$ file pulse-cookie
    pulse-cookie: data
type file space drag & drop the file onto the terminal, press return.

  • Why does iTunes allow you to play music files that are in the trash?

I recently was up grading my music library why I got my new mac.  I had 2 I tunes libraries on my computer and checked to see which one I was using and deleted the other music folder.  While the folder was in the trash I played the music to make sure that I would not have a problem...... then I empted the trash.  Problem was that after emptining the trash I could not play the music anymore.  so my question is is there a way to set up a preference to not allow I-tune to not allow access to files in the trash.

If an iPod is set to automatically sync from a particular iTunes library, when you connect it to that iTunes library, every song on the iPod exists in the iTunes library.  Therefore, if you want to play a song on the iPod using iTunes on the computer, you can just play that song from the computer's iTunes library, and not the iPod.
If an iPod is set to load songs manually (by dragging songs to the iPod in iTunes), then the iPod is NOT syncing to a particular iTunes library.  The library on the iPod is separate; songs on the iPod may not be in the computer's iTunes library.  Therefore, you can play songs stored on the iPod using iTunes on computer.
If your shuffle happens to be 1st or 2nd gen, they work differently from other iPods.   They are always associated with only one iTunes library at a time, so you cannot play songs on the shuffle using iTunes on the computer.
I was wondering how I could transfer music from my iPod to my library
You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer song files from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.

  • Is there metadata of any kind on an export file that shows me the project file from where it was created?

Is there any way in looking at the meta data of a .MOV exported from Final Cut 7 that allows me to see what the project file was? I have this exported file, but I can't locate the original project file from where it was from. Was hoping there would be some sort of data that exists that shows me the directory. I've searched by filename and date created all over my drives but no luck.

Well, FCP comes from an age where it was assumed the editor had his $#%^ together.
EDIT: One of my mentors had the conviction that every day when you left the cutting room, you should leave it in such a way that a perfect stranger could walk in in the morning and pick up right where you left off. I really strive to live up to that ideal. I know we all get crazy busy and don't always properly archive our stuff, but it DOES save a lot of headaches down the road.

  • Best practice?-store images outside the WAR file?

I have an EAR project with several thousand images that are constantly changing. I do not want to store the images in the WAR project since it will take an extremely long time to redeploy with every image change. What is the best practice for storing images? Is it proper to put them in the WAR and re-deploy? Or is there a better solution?

    Perryier wrote:
Can you expand on this? Where do they get deployed and in what format? How do I point to them on a jsp?
I am using Sun Application server 9.0, and I don't really think this has a "stand alone" web server. How will this impact it?You could install any web server you want (Apache?). The request comes in and if the request matches something like .jpg or .gif or whatever, you serve up the file. If you have a request for a jsp or what not, you forward the request to the app server (Sun App Server in your case). i.e. your web server acts as a content-aware proxy.

  • Files That are Downloaded as Image Files Really Are Not

Hi, I use a G4 Mac; run OS X Tiger 10.4.11. Sometimes whenever I download image files such as mpeg and wmv I get this alert when I try to run them using the Latest Version of QuickTime: "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file." But when I "Get Info" for these files the Get Info window states that these are either mpeg or wmv of files; along with the size, where they were download from, etc. Other movie files downloaded at the same time are played by QT without any problems. Why won't these files play as movie files?
    Angel

MPEG 1 should play with Quicktime not that there is a ton of it other than VCD files popular in Asian karaoke and anime discs.
MPEG 2 will not play without paying for the Apple MPEG-2 codec component. QT Kirk points out the need for Flip4mac to playback WMV files. To edit or export those WMV files you have to pay $20 extra as well for the Studio version of F4M.

  • Is there a way to convert files that are in the music folder to Audiobooks?

I have a bunch of audiobooks that I loaded off CDs that ended up in the Music Folder with all my music. I want to know if there is a way to move them to the Audiobooks folder? Convert or something? Please let me know.

You first need to convert them to .m4.
    Simple enough.
iTunes prefs -> Advanced -> Importing.
Set to AAC, 64 kbps stereo, optimize for voice.
Select them all in itunes, go to menu Advanced -> Convert selection to AAC.
Use this -> Make Bookamarkable to change the file type and extension.

  • When there are multiple users can the email files that are on the left of the screen be hidden from other users?

There are several people who might want to use Thunderbird on a work computer but I don't like how everyone's email files are open to public view. It looks like anyone can see emails without having to login to another person's account.

Use different Windows user accounts for each person, and set-up Thunderbird for each person's email account underneath the respective Windows account.
It is very easy to switch between Windows user accounts, and multiple people can be logged in simultaneously.

  • How get files that are in Windows directory from a job is running in AS400

    Hi Experts,
Please help me with this, I have a background job that call FTP_CONNECT for connect to a FTP directory, when i run manually the program this works very good; but when is runing like job it isn't works; SAP is in AS400 and the FTP directory is in Windows, also i tried use the CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES for access to the directory but it isn't works like job.
The big question is How i can get files that are in the Windows directory from a job that is running in AS400.
Is anyone can help me? Thanks for your kindly support in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Darwin Panchi

It's impossible to access Windows directories running through job. To do this, the files must be transfered to Unix.
Not true.  You can mount a Windows server folder location in the SAP AS400 directory landscape and access it from SAP programs in the foreground or the background.  You can also hit a Windows client or server location with FTP as well.
For Darwin, if the Windows location belongs to your domain, have your Basis team map it to your SAP app server folder landscape so you can access it directly or as Este suggested, try the background destination SAPFTPA for the FTP approach.
